PoliticsRe: Nass Jacks Up Own Budget To N150bn by tayejay(m): 7:41am On Dec 23, 2016

highrise07:
The National Assembly is set to increase its budgetary allocation in the 2017 budget to N150 billion from N115 billion, it has emerged.
A competent source in the National Assembly told Daily Sun that there is a consensus among leadership of the Senate and the House of Representatives that the federal legsilature has to jack-up its budgetary allocation in the 2017 budget, with N150 billion being the benchmark.
“You can take my word to the bank that the National Assembly is going to increase its allocation to a minimum of N150billion to ensure that we can meet our financial obligations,” he said.
The current allocation has led to many challenges the leadership of the National Assembly has struggled to manage such as delays in the payment of lawmakers’ wages, months of unpaid salaries of legislative aides and the inability of lawmakers to travel for international summits as frequently as their predecessors,” he said.
This is even as Daily Sun also learnt that the staggered supply of the controversial official vehicles for lawmakers was listed as one of the effects of inadequate budgetary allocation to the legislature.
The lawmaker, who is a committee member which the budget was referred to, noted that if the vote to the judiciary was increased, that of the National Assembly has to be reviewed upwards.
“The President announced the increase in the allocation to the judiciary, saying it will further enhance their independence.
President Muhammadu Buhari had while presenting the 2017 budget to the legislature announced increased allocation to the legislature to N100 billion compared to N70 billion in the 2016 budget.
A top member of the House, who also confirmed plans to increase the budget of the 469-member National Assembly, legislative aides, the National Assembly Commission and the Legislative Institute, said it has to be done to mitigate the effect of inflation and the crash of the naira.
The budget to the National Assembly has remained a subject of controversy with the legislature getting N150 billion from 2011 to 2015. Despite the reduction of the allocation to N115 billion in 2016 following public criticism, Senate President Bukola Saraki, in response to calls for a transparency, promised to give a breakdown of National Assembly budget in May, but he was yet to do so.
Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Abdulrazak Namdas, said it would be “premature” to make definitive statements on the 2017 budget.

Unfortunately, he has no tangible structure for Ekiti primarily and south west... he's busy diverting attention from meaningful development.. we want projects that are self sustaining.. we want the state to be strong enough to generate it's own adequate revenues. We want food security and robust healthcare facilities... all fayose is busy doing is galvanizing conduits for money draining for personal and party use all in the name of "longest flyover bridge, and government house". I will recommend the area behind or near Noble Height school. Light is stable here, close to security agents residence, water supply from water board and proximity to town. You just walk say like 2mins depending on location of your residence to get transport on karu bridge.. you don't always encounter traffic from this axis. The only traffic is on karu bridge. Once down the bridge after security check point, the road is free. I live around this area

Mrs PEJ owns several investments, even oil vessels, she could have easily made any amount she has in her account.

You can blame her for using her 'first-lady' power to give herself the business advantage, even Obasanjo did same for dangote and adenuga, he even has ota farm, but don't try to say she looted funds when you don't have evidence.

The onus of proof lies with the EFCC, to prove that the money in the said account is a looted fund.

Patience only gave herself business advantage, she didn't touch public funds
So why did she use somebody's name to open the accounts she alone has been using before they halted? That alone is criminal tendencies. Nobody could have dared the powerful ex first lady to carry out her instructions wrongly.... she should have just walked away if she has any shame left after all there may still many other millions, perhaps billions stashed in other places... but greed sha.... the wealth of this world never enough to satisfy it

Good advice from APC, They should also advice Buhari to allow the legislature to carry out their constitutional duties, He should stop dabbling into the activities of the legislature, there should be separation of powers.

Just as the legislators should "concentrate on their primary constitutional responsibilities...", Buhari should also concentrate on delivering his Phantom campaign promises. Nigerians are suffering.

So bros 80 lawyers are not handling a single case.

CareerRe: The Illusion Of Big Pay: Nigerian Oil & Gas Workers Ain't Exactly What You Think by tayejay(m): 10:07am On Jul 05, 2016

joedams:
The life we’re made to live, the perception friends and even foes have of us is an illusion, the more you look, the less you see. Those were the words of Rachael Kada as I asked about her job and monthly earnings in one of Nigeria’s foremost multinational Oil and Gas companies.

Irrespective of being a mid-management staff of a renowned multinational Oil and Gas company, Rachael is a restless entrepreneur with 3 flourishing small businesses and intent to invest in more. For what we know or perceive of the average Nigerian oil worker, they are comfortable enough to avoid the headaches of the entrepreneurial life. Depending on the company, average industry salaries starts at $45,000 to $140,000 per annum, this is enough to make them an envy in a country like Nigeria.

For so long, Nigerian Oil and Gas workers have been the uber-loved citizens of any Nigerian community or city, they are our favorite aunty and uncles, the ones whose advice our parents will gladly take at the expense of their own wisdom, their children were a delight to the teachers in school, they are seen as the most enlightened in our villages, benevolent spirits, they paid the fees of most members of their extended family, every one looked up to them for survival and livelihood, they received the most respect, were accorded highest privileges and positions in churches. They were easily accorded the positions of deacon and deaconess in church than other members, donation and fund raising events usually would be put off if they happened to be unavailable. They lived the good life everyone else desired, they are the ones who fly abroad often for vacation, their kids attended the best of schools, when they die, everyone who crossed their path during their lifetime ensures to attend their funeral. Even in death, they enjoyed the privileges of reverence.

Somehow they happened to live longer and healthier than anyone else, they stayed longer on their jobs, some putting in twenty five to thirty years before retiring. Job security is usually guaranteed or so we were made to believe.

Rachael thinks those were the good old days, she says everything we think or know about the current generation of Oil workers is a hoax. “They rather envy you and would love to be in your shoes, hustling with certainty that it’s your money at the end of the day”. She argues that this current crop are not staying longer on their jobs because of Job security but because they are bound by loans that need many years to service, they no longer interact freely or even let you know where they work because they are burdened with outstretched arms asking for support from their salaries. They no longer want to be the benevolent spirits we once knew and here is why:

You get this job, everyone thinks it’s fantastic. It actually is, especially if you look around you and consider the economic situation and unemployment rate but its only fantastic for the first 5 years so you start out, making millions every year, opportunity to travel the world, free food from the office cafeteria. For men; girls following you, for women; men afraid to follow you.

You have this career built up in your head, and you plan on working hard to achieve it, then your family members start making demands, you have social, community and even spiritual demands etc. Cost of living continues to build up (only for you), you get married, have children and need a good car for yourself, wife and a good house that befits your ‘status’ and dreams

Then you notice you cant cough out 15 million to buy a land to build house because even if your salary is N1m per month and allowances are another 6 to 8m annually, you have living expenses and so you don’t have bulk money.

This is the point where cooperatives and banks cash in on you. They tell you to take loans to achieve these dreams, Don’t forget, the guy that married needed to spend at least N5m on the wedding, he needs to set up a business for his wife, have girlfriends with expenses in addition to having a wife.

Back to the issue of housing, you finally get the loan to buy a land and you are under pressure to build. Don’t forget that you also need to rent an apartment, pay for 2 years and furnish. Suddenly, you realize that to buy a car for yourself and your wife plus build up the house, you need a second loan probably more than N15m so you try to get N30m so u can build, furnish and buy cars. Your parents and siblings will possibly be on standby with problems and most times, their problems will eat into these loans or your salary, then you have your church and social commitments always on standby.

At this point you are indebted to a bank and Coop for a total of 50m which will take you at least 5 to 7 years to pay off if you are strict (with an Interest rate of 20%.)

With this, you have a picture of the first 10 years of the life of an oil worker, let’s move on to phase two.

THE POINT OF NO RETURN

Just when you think you are about to rest, you have to make bigger commitments. You may be transferred to another city and may need to get a house there. Some may want to build in the village, others want to invest in properties etc, and so you take the next set of loans… another 8 to 10 years hustle.

After 15 to 20 years, you suddenly realize that you have only been working to pay off loans and live an average life. If you want to travel abroad on vacation, that’s another topic.

You remember that career I told you about? The initial plan?

At this point you realize that the kind of politics you need to play to get it may overwhelm you or even change you to someone else. You may also need to spend some more money and invest a lot of emotions and still will not get there. All these while, you were boxed into a small community, an illusion, thinking you’ve attained elite status, cut off from the reality of the outside world, 20 years after, you realize you will soon retire but then your kids start getting into college so you have to double up, you start getting frustrated.

For most people, it always ends like a sad movie, you turn to look around you and your friends on the outside who hustled for the first 10 years of his or her life can afford to give you a loan, they’re more relevant in their communities than you are, better satisfaction and fulfillment because they are in touch with reality. There is a high probability that we die soon after we retire due to our inability to readjust to a normal life.

This is the life of today’s ‘oil worker’, it’s the reason I’m neck deep in running small businesses aside my job in a multinational.

*Rachael Kada: Real names substituted to conceal her identity.

http://thenerveafrica.com/7491/the-illusion-of-big-pay-nigerian-oil-gas-workers-aint-exactly-what-you-think/
This has nothing to do with the fact that it pays a lot more to work in the oil and gas sectors... the sad ending of some of their workers are self inflicted due to wrong choices made... best still for them, they have near adequate room than most to accommodate errors and still be able to come out strong... not withstanding no amount of resources in the world can amend excessive foolishness. Be wise with your resources little or much.. affect lives positively... be humble... imbibe godly principles...

This story is a non friction, it happened on 23rd of this month. It took place here in abuja. I was coming from my place of work, instead of entrying bike i decided to follow one short cut, though the part i wanted to take is a bushy part and it was something after 5pm but I am Never scared of anything. I started my journey, it was a lonely one until i sighted a girl from afar. I was happy i have seen someone to walk with and a lady for that matter. I began to walk faster to meet up with her.

When she saw me, she stopped walking and was like waiting for me. When i finally reached her that is when i descovered how beautiful and front and back she was heavily endowed. While i was observing her, she greeted me which i answered starmaring, she told me her name is Abigail and that is when the story started.

She said and i quote: this is my first time of coming to abuja, i was coming to visit one of my aunty so the motor i entered from my village brought me to a park, so i entered another motor going to Wuse which is where my aunt stays but the next thing, i found my self in this bush and all the money i have in my bag have been taken. If u can help me with any amount that can take me to my destination i will be grateful.

That was her stories. So i handed her 500 naira note and i directed her where she will get a taxi to her destinaton, i was about to go when she asked me to wait i came nearer to her she looked at me and say u are a good guy for this thing u have done for me i don't have any thing to give u but what i have i will give u that is when my brain went back to her personal properties, her ukwu was mighty, i got erected immediately, she started going into the bush and i was following her. It was then i found out everywhere was getting dark. The worst part was no one was passing that road i began to feel a little scared but swept the fear away with what i was going to get.

We reached the back of a cashew tree she drew her skirt down took off her pant open her bag and brought out a condom then i became suspicious why will she be traveling with a condom but everything was just happening fast before i could say anything the condom was already on me, she grab the tree so i began banging from behind for a long time.

Immediately i cum, i heard the leave make noise at my back i turned and i thought i saw some one in a flash but when i kept looking that direction i saw no one so i gave up. She removed the condom from me and was trying to put it in her bag i did not know what came upon me, I just grabbed it and picked race lo and behold, three men dashed out of the bush and straight they were after me i ran and ran and ran and they also ran after me as if their lifes depended on it but i out ran them and soon they stopped but i did not stop until i got home. And people who saw me running like a mad man followed me home, so i told them what happened except the one that i bang her and the condom thing i did not tell them.

So i hope everyone will learn from this my silly mistake that almost ended me. What am wondering is what they wanted to do with my sperm, with this we are now sure there are some people who are out there seaching for used condoms so beware of how u deposite it after use. Am typing and smiling because i was lucky to escape if not maybe this thread would have be help!!! My sperm has been stolen.

Malama Nafisat said the family members are sad over the unlawful detention of their sister who sustained various degrees of gun injuries and killing of 3 of El-Zakzaky’s son in addition to (another) 3 that were killed by Nigerian Military in 2014 during Annual International Quds Day procession in Zaria.

She said Sheikh El-Zakzaky has been facing assassination attempts on his life for not committing any crime, adding that on 12the December, 2015 when she was told that army was attacking followers of Islamic Movement, she phoned her younger sister asking her what was happening, then she replied that she did not know anything but she was informed that Nigerian Army were shooting at Hussainiyya after laying siege to the building.

“Later on I called my sister, so she told me that their Gyallesu resident was surrounded by Nigerian Army and said are you are hearing the gun shot they are coming to kill us now since then, I did not hear anything from her” she explained in tears.

She further said when President Buhari was elected, she was very happy, because she know he will tamper justice with mercy in his administration but now I don’t support him because of extra-judicial killing of over 1000; this is injustice and detaining of Sheik and his wife too is unconstitutional, adding that if they claim their road was blocked by followers of Sheik Zakzaky, was the death sentence punishment for blocking road?

She concluded that killing of innocent defenseless Muslim faithfuls, burning their dead bodies and destroying their houses and properties is unacceptable and crime against God and humanity.

Malama Zeenatudden El-Zakzaky is a Yoruba by tribe, indigene of Ibadan, Oyo State; continuing detaining her is a big slap on the face of millions of Yorubas who strongly brought President Buhari to power in May, 2015.

I really wish government will resolve this issue with the El-Zakzaky... I remember this woman back in zaria, she was peaceful and humble... It's unfortunate the recent issues between government and this group... I pray they resolve amicably
