PoliticsRe: South-west Leaders Regret Voting For Buhari, Blame Tinubu For Their Woes by tayejay(m): 4:15pm On Jun 28, 2015

Nkanga7:
Some South-West leaders are currently biting their fingers in regret over voting President Muhammadu Buhari into office. The zone is particularly angry with the President, who is the leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for tolerating the outcome of National Assembly leadership election, which did not favour the region.Buhari’s silence according to them is a serious indication that the zone, which queued behind him to ensure victory at the recent polls, may benefit little or nothing from the administration.
“For the fact that the South-West played a key role in the emergence of Buhari as the President, it is expected that they would occupy a more strategic position than the post of vice president”, said one of the leaders.
They argued that the National Assembly leadership election, which eventually placed the North Central geopolitical zone as a powerful force in the country’s power equation through the emergence of former Kwara governor, Bukola Saraki, as Senate President and Yakubu Dogara from the North-East, has depicted the South-West as not only a weak power bloc in the equation.
With the power structure now,the South-West as a region has been relegated to the background in the power structure of the country. Some of the leaders of the region who also participated in the last National Conference argue that since the South-West does not hold any substantial position in the current power structure, the region must re-strategise to assert itself in the politics of the nation. They further argued that the position of Vice President, which is presently held by a south westerner, does not place the region as a powerful force.
While referring to one of the speeches made by former President Goodluck Jonathan during the campaigns leading up to the 2015 general elections, National Coordinator of Coalition of Democrats for Electoral Reform, CODER, Chief Ayo Opadokun, a South-West leader, who spoke to the on the current power imbalance, noted that the Yoruba race made a great mistake by not re-electing the former President, considering what he had in stock for the zone. He emphasised that the implementation of the National Conference report would elevate the standard of the zone, which is the reason people of the South-West should have queued behind Jonathan.
“Failure to do this needful may spell doom for the zone as their trust in their forged alliance with North would lead to regret. “Certainly, as the power structure is, there is the need for the Yoruba race to re-strategise on the way they would reassert themselves in the country’s politics and power equation,” Opadokun advised. Also lending his voice on the skewed power structure, image maker of Pro- National Conference, Wale Okunniyi, faulted the emergence of Saraki and Dogara, which he described as a conspiracy against the Yoruba nation by some powerful forces in the APC. He stated further that it was unfortunate that the South-West did not get the speakership of the House of Representative, as the region pushed forward Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila. He condemned Sen. Saraki and Hon. Dogara for not adhering strictly to the party’s position, stressing that the leadership of the Yoruba people need to redirect their plan for the region would benefit in the current state of the country politics. Okunniyi said, “What happened at the National Assembly was a conspiracy against Yoruba nation by some powerful forces in the APC. Although, we hold the Vice President position, we lost the speakership. This calls for total re-strategising by Yoruba leadership so that we can have our way in this current power structure.”However, a prominent South- West leader and lawyer, Asiwaju Bisi Adegbuyi, stressed that as for now the Yoruba race needs self-determination rather than a symbolic representation.
“Yoruba race should know what they want. Yoruba made progress when Chief Obafemi Awolowo led us.Also speaking to this paper, a PDP chieftain from the zone, Barrister Olayinka Sanni, put the blame on the selfish interest of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. He said that Tinubu’s selfish interest was pushing the South-West backward.
According to him, “the system of leader takes- all that Tinubu used in Lagos politics gave the undue advantage to Bukola Saraki and Yakubu Dogara as Senate President and Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives. “He derives pleasure from cheating people in public. If they had not conducted the mock election, Femi Gbajabiamila would have won since it would have happened at the same time in both chambers,’’ he noted, adding that going by the trend of things, South-West might be forced to pressurise President Buhari to implement the part of the recommendation of the Confab which would be favorable to them. However, notwithstanding the current leadership positions in the National.Assembly, which the South-West complains about being relegated to the second fiddle, the zone clinched the position of Deputy Speaker Hon. Yusuf Lasun had in spite of the All Progressives Congress endorsement of his opponent Monguno Tahir, polled 203 votes to defeat Tahir, who had 153 votes. Mr. Lasun represents Irepodun, Olorunda, Osogbo Federal Constituency in Osun State. But according to analysts, with the victory of Bukola Saraki as the Senate President and Yakubu Dogara as the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the six geopolitical zones appear to have benefitted from power sharing. All the zones, North-West, North- East, North Central, South-West, South- East and South-South are adequately represented at the centre. While Senator Saraki hails from Kwara State, North Central zone, Rep. Dogara is from Bauchi State, North East Nigeria. The same for Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, an indigene of Enugu State in the South-East zone. The Deputy Speaker of the House,Yusuf Lasun, is from Osun State in the South-West. President, Mohammed Buhari is from Katsina State, North-West zone while his deputy, Yemi Osinbajo, hails from Ogun State also in the South-West zone. The South-South is represented in the capacity of John Odigie Oyegun, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, the ruling party

Nigerians that voted for change need to be awaken to the traitor Saraki and Dagora represent with their connivance with some Oil Cabals(those who does not want to be investigated) to undermine Buhari's govt.

Most of the APC Senators and Reps from the north rode on the popularity of Buhari to emerge victorious in last election. Only for Saraki to appoint ISA GALAUDU (PDP, KEBBI) as CHIEF OF STAFF.

DOGARA ALSO APPOINTED HON. JERRY MANWE (PDP, KADUNA) as CHIEF OF STAFF.

FOR THOSE WHO KNOW HOW A chief of staff work closely to his principal with Saraki and Dogara having PDP guys as their Chief of Staff the machination is already in place and PMB beta forget about fighting corruption because corruption just outsmarted both him and APC in a high wired powered coup using Tinubu as excuse . Buhari need all his brilliance to contain this anomaly or the APC might just be heading for the rocks.
Can't be rule out. But other reasons inclusive and most certainly related to corruption. Corruption must fight back

Senator Bukola Saraki today described Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as a 'mere commissioner'.
A truce meeting called on Monday by the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been boycotted by Senator Bukola Saraki, one of the party’s top contenders for the presidency of the Senate.
Senator Saraki boycotted the meeting after reportedly telling party leaders that as a former governor he could not attend a meeting summoned by a ‘mere commissioner’, referring to Professor Yemi Osinbajo, whose previous public office was as Commissioner of Justice in Lagos State. Saraki then became a Senator, while Osinbajo is now the Vice President.Following Saraki’s snub, Prof. Osinbajo didn’t bother to attend the meeting, but the party met with its elected lawmakers, with some of Saraki’s earlier supporters joining the meeting.

kmariko:
S’Arabia Refuses to Grant Flight Permit for Nigerian Arms Procured from Pakistan

29 Dec 2014

By Senator Iroegbu

Nigeria’s effort at ending the Boko Haram insurgency has run into another hitch with the refusal by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to grant over-flight permits to cargo planes conveying military equipment and armoured tanks procured by the Nigerian government from Pakistan.

THISDAY gathered authoritatively from intelligence sources that the decision by the Saudi authorities is certain to cause a diplomatic row at a time the Jonathan administration is eager to end the insurgency in the North-east before the 2015 general election.

President Goodluck Jonathan is seeking re-election in less than two months time and had given the green light to the military authorities to procure arms from alternative sources such as Pakistan and Russia other than Nigeria’s traditional allies led by the United States of America, United Kingdom and France.

The decision, THISDAY gathered, was premised on Nigeria’s displeasure with the US after the country blocked the sale of American-manufactured Cobra attack helicopters from Israel.

With the position of the West, Nigeria decided to turn to the East, chiefly Pakistan, from which the federal government was able to procure a huge cache of military hardware needed to prosecute the war against Boko Haram.

However, an intelligence source said: “Getting the equipment into Nigeria immediately has run into a hitch owing to Saudi Arabia’s refusal to grant the cargo planes that will convey the arms over-flight permits through its airspace.

“We got permission to fly through Sudan and other countries but have been blocked by Saudi Arabia, which has impeded the urgency of the operation.”
He added that owing to Saudi Arabia’s refusal, the only alternative is for Nigeria to ship the armament by sea, but using this as an option would take much longer.

“If we resort to shipping the arms via the high seas, they would reach us well after the elections which may be too late for the desired impact, especially now that we have the insurgents on the run,” he explained.

Flight permits are required by all aircraft to overfly, land or make a technical stop in any country’s airspace. All countries have their own regulations regarding the issuance of flight permits, as there are generally a number of considerations including payment involved.

When asked if there might have been religious undertones in Saudi Arabia’s decision to withhold the flight permit, the intelligence source said he was not certain but would not rule it out.

“Nigeria has always had close ties to Saudi Arabia, but with a war that has a religious slant, we may not be able to rule it out. But what I can say for certain is that this would lead to diplomatic tensions between both countries,” he said.

I think u have been a bit hasty in assuming that religion might be the reason. Have u considered that it may b because of the stronger ties Saudi has with America and considering that Saudi depends on US for the sales of its oil? This is just one of several assumptions

InvestmentRe: Results On Comparing Fixed Deposit Interest Rates Between First Bank And Gtbank by tayejay(m): 5:08pm On Dec 13, 2014

naijacutee:
Last month, I happened upon some money from an old investment which had matured. Rather than have it collect “one one naira” in my standard savings account, I decided not to be the fly that follows the corpse to the grave, and put it in a fixed deposit. Fixed deposits are a very popular investment option in Nigeria, and you’ll hear about them 8 times of out 10 if you do happen to ask for advice regarding how to invest money. The attraction to this sort of investment is that returns are guaranteed, and the duration of your investment is flexible. We probably like this sort of investment because they help us mitigate risks – in a country where nothing is guaranteed, we don’t tend to tie money down in long term investments and fixed deposits are the perfect solution to this investment problem. In the course of my search for a decent return on my investment, I “burnt” at least N5,000 in credit, calling banks and waiting in queues for information, and was only able to reasonably compare two banks – GTBank and First Bank.

What is a fixed deposit?
A fixed deposit is a lump sum deposited with a bank for a varying period, in exchange for interest.
How to put your money in a fixed deposit: You will need to have an existing account with the bank of your choice, and then you deposit the sum into this account. You will then need to inform your bank of your intention to “fix” the said sum for “X” number of days. It is very important that before you make your decision, that you shop around for the best rates. You are not obliged to fix your money with your existing bank, just because you bank with them. You can earn a significantly higher amount by just picking up the phone. It is the more difficult route when you consider call waiting times, credit spent etc but it is worth it, and what’s more I have done some of this hard work for you.

How long is my money fixed for?
Most banks offer flexible periods of 30 days, 60 days, 90 days, 180 days and one year.

How do I get paid?
Usually, the money is removed from your account and the interest is paid into your account. So for example, you want to fix N500,000 for 60 days and the bank has offered you an interest rate of 7%. You have N550,000 in your account. Once you confirm you’re making the arrangement and sign all the necessary documentation, the N500,000 “disappears” from your account to be “fixed”. At the end of 60 days, you get paid back your original N500,000 + an additional N35,000 interest accrued. A simplified version of what really happens behind the scenes is that the N500,000 is given to another customer who has asked for a loan – but he will be charged 20% interest (or N100,000). After 60 days, you get back your N500,000 + N35,000 (7% interest from the other customers N100,000). Not bad business for banks, if you ask me.

I disagree with u on this interest calculation and its quite misleading. You only earn the complete 7 percent in one year, but at 60 days or 2months fixed, u get paid one sixth of this amount. Mind u banks often use compound or simple interest rates not flat rate as u have portrayed it.

Bank interest rate comparisons
For my enquiries, I called First Bank and GTBank.
I rated both banks on customer service quality (pet peeve of mine, because time is money) and interest rates.
tbankvsfirstbank

Interest rates
First Bank
7 days (First bank does not offer this service)
30 days – 9.25%
60 days: 9.50%
90 days: 9.75%
365 days: 10%
GTBank
Available from N100,000 to N1m.
7 days – 3.75%
30 days – 180 days : 6.25%
Some notes:
Call times. My initial contact with both banks was on a Friday afternoon, at about 5.30pm. My second contact attempt with GTBank after the first one proved futile was at 3.20pm on a Sunday.
Omissions. I initially wanted to include Accessbank in this exercise, but have been unlucky in getting through to a knowledgeable person on customer service. The frontline staff I have spoken to, all seem to lack basic knowledge regarding what services their banks offer and where to get information outside the limits of their knowledge. I would recommend that training is provided for all front line staff as a matter of urgency, as customers otherwise have no way of getting informed about competitive rates for your most lucrative services.
Am I an agent? I work for neither of these banks. My selection of this two is purely by chance and accessibility of contact information via the bank websites. I simply picked the banks with the most prominent contact information via websites. My reviews are unbiased, and if I haven’t reviewed any others yet, don’t worry – “life is turn by turn”.

Truth be told Buhari is like a saint in the gallery of prominent Nigerian politicians. What baffles me most about him is his communication with people especially the Christians. By that I mean the past clamour for Sharia.
There's nothing wrong if a Muslim clamours for sharia for Muslims for as long as it's not imposed on Christians. Come to think of it, sharia promotes zero tolerance to crimes and may be a welcome idea in the long run for a heavily crime infested country like ours

Fashola spoke at an interactive business session

“We know that if the power sector does well the

He said his administration was working to achieve

He said, “We spent over two hours at the Monday

“In less than three years we can establish it,
especially when we need not do distribution, but
places like the Lekki Free Zone can have the
Nuclear Power between 15 and 24 months.”
The Commissioner for Commerce and Industry,
Mrs. Olusola Oworu, said the meeting was
established to articulate the problems of the private
sector with a view to offering solutions to them.
She said, “The meeting was held because the
government is interested in knowing the problems
of the private sector operators.
“If we do not want to hear about where the shoe
pinches and where it hurts and what we can do
about it, we will not have this kind of open and

PoliticsRe: Sanusi: - I Will Resign If: by tayejay(m): 10:59am On Jan 08, 2014
muhsin: Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Sanusi Lamido Sanusi said yesterday that he will resign from office if his decision to remove the Managing as well as Executive Directors of five big banks turns out to be wrong.

He said this in Abuja in response to questions from newsmen at a press briefing soon after a meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC). He said at the meeting that CBN has approved in principle the establishment of an “Asset Purchase Facility Fund” for effective liquidity injection and credit easing targeted at specific areas of the economy.

CBN had sacked the Chief Executive Officers of Intercontinental Bank Plc, Oceanic Bank International Plc, Afribank Plc, Union Bank of Nigeria Plc and FinBank Plc on August 14 for leading their banks to award bad loans to the tune of N780 billion. CBN also injected N420 billion into the banks, while the affected CEOs have been charged to court for contravening several banking laws.

Asked if he will resign if his decision to remove the CEOs turns out to be wrong, Sanusi said, “Yes. But I have no doubt in my mind that the decisions we have taken are decisions that were taken based on an objective analysis of the facts.” He said the banking examinations that led to the removal of the bank chiefs were done jointly by CBN and the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC).

He said, “Each bank had ten examiners - five from CBN and five from NDIC. After the report came, they were looked at by the Director of Banking Supervision of the CBN and the Director of Banking Examination of the NDIC.

“The banks and their representatives had the opportunity to discuss with these Directors some of those findings. There were exit interviews in which the EXCOs were told what the findings were. The report came to a Deputy Governor of CBN, Mr. Lemo, who did a further quality check. It was after that that the reports were presented to the Governor of the CBN and the Managing Director of the NDIC.

“The committee of Governor of CBN and the EXCO of the NDIC reviewed these reports and agreed that these banks were in a dire situation before the Governor made recommendations to the Board of Governors of the Central Bank.

“We are all human beings; are we above making mistakes? No! If there was a mistake, if there were fundamental errors, as Governor of Central Bank I will take personal responsibility and if I have to resign, I will resign.

“But I have no doubt in my mind that if I looked at a bank and I see that it is heading towards failure, I have the responsibility of the Nigerian people to take whatever action I consider to be appropriate.”

He said the fear of making mistakes is what stopped many people from acting, and in not acting, “you will end up in a more serious situation.”

Sanusi also said, “Were there mistakes in this process? I am sure there will be one or two mistakes, there will be one or two errors and people have already raised one or two minor typographical errors to discredit the entire process.

“There will be mistakes, there will be human errors. Fundamentally, I think the decisions we have taken were the correct decisions for Nigeria and the Nigerian financial system and for the country in general.”

He said of the remaining fourteen banks in the country, eleven have been audited and that if any of them were found in the same situation as the troubled five banks, more money will be created to give them liquidity support. He said the N420 billion injected into the affected banks were convertible loans and liquidity support and not a bail-out.

“We are committed to protecting deposits and creditors. Which means if we find another bank in a great situation and we believe that if we allowed it to continue in this stage it will fail, we will put in whatever financial support the bank requires to make sure that deposits are not put at risk”, he said.

“Our primary focus is stability and confidence in the system. We will pursue those who we feel are responsible for placing that institution in that state. The question is if we find any bank in that situation and if we find another bank in that situation, we will deal with it in that manner. Whether a bank is likely to be in that situation I have said nothing”, he further said. He said CBN does not require any appropriation from the National Assembly to create money to inject into the economy.

The Governor said the focus of CBN is not to sell the five banks. He said he went to the United Kingdom to tell the good news about Nigerian banks. “We did not go to UK to sell banks. All we have been saying is for core investors to invest in the banks. Core investors could be foreign or local. There is no law that stops foreign banks from owning Nigerian banks. We will not preclude foreign banks from owning Nigerian banks”, he said. He also said reforms going on in CBN are not an indictment on his predecessor Professor Chukwuma Soludo.

The Monetary Policy Committee yesterday left the MPR unchanged at 6 percent per annum and also maintained the interest rate corridor at +/- 2 per cent around the MPR.

But some of those banks at the time Sanusi prescribed them troubled were opening and spreading their tentacles to my regions of the country and were helping many small scale businesses to grow by giving out loan at low interest rates and business supports in form and advice and follow up. Today, loans interest rates are high and difficult to get

Shobayo Emma: In my own opinion i think praying for one's country should be as constant as praying for oneself. So dear NLs, i wish to know your stand on this. Thanks.

I pray everyday for peace, unity and progress for Nigeria. I love this country and just hope always that God touches our leaders and raise up new leaders that will impact His will upon this nation and her people.
CelebritiesRe: "Dating In D 21st Century Is Ridiculous..." Geneveive & Rita Dominic by tayejay(m): 9:03pm On Oct 08, 2013
Kaymisola: There you have it, movie stars, Genevieve Nnaji and Rita Dominic, are very much single and the best part is, they are contended with the status.
The screen divas disclosed this a while ago via instagram and twitter.
Rita Dominic first made the revelation a few days ago by posting the (first) photo below which reads "Dating in the 21st century is by far the most ridiculous process ever. People are so complicated, you have to play games, you must lie and act like you don't care even if you do..."
Genevieve who couldn't agree less with the submissions, re-posted the photo a few hours ago, adding that "I've been single for a while now and I have to say it's going very well. Like it's working out, I think I am the one." See photos below:

Its really so very true and quite unfortunate. Only people of questionable character can play this game so well.
RomanceRe: Who Should Love More In A Relationship:the Guy Or The Lady by tayejay(m): 7:16pm On Sep 22, 2013
In my opinion, love should be shared or given equally. Unfortunately, its so rare to these days to see couple loving equally. Where equal love is unattainable, its better for the man's love to supersede the woman's, especially a cool headed woman, cause it has greater possibility of breathing more life to the union.

Amelian: Hello everyone... Pls kindly read through my scenario. Babes, lets assume uv worked so hard in some years time, saved yourself some cash and rewarded yourselves with a nice cute car of your choice. Then along your bumpy ride through life grin, you met a guy not too long ago, say last 3weeks... Wooing u , like crazy ...talking about love and seeing both of your future together , in a space of 3weeks... U played along, at least, there's no risk in trying a new relationship... Then, one fateful evening, your bf says that he's so stressed taking bus and okadas, that pls can he share using your car with u?... As in, u drive to work,in the morning then he takes the car keys from u , after uv parked and drive off to sort out his business errands, then will drop the car at your house, when he's done for the day..
As a babe,, what will be your response? Will u give him the car keys grin
Or as a guy, will u give your babe your car keys?

Pls sincere answers from the depths of our Hearts....
Thanks.

I think its really too soon in the relationship to discuss about sharing individuals properties. I think the guy went somhw far requesting to be using ur car when its not like he can't do without. I think he's taking undue advantage and this isn't love. For me, I won't expect that he should make the request, he should hav allowed it come voluntarily frm u. Having an eye on ones possession, I think is very unhealthy. I suggest u start up, diplomatically, by dropping hm off @ a convenience spot where he can begin his daily activities frm, however, if he's still unpleasant abt it, then there's something else to it.
PoliticsRe: Enugu State And High Cost Of Living by tayejay(m): 11:37am On Aug 09, 2013
Afam4eva: It depends on the part of Enugu that you want a house. Cut your coat according to your size.

why is it that some people result to cheap blackmail in situations like this. So, landlords should decrease house rent because some people want to relocate from the north to Enugu? These same people are the ones that will build mansions in other parts of the country and when they're asked to pay a measly amount for house rent in their own home town, they result to blackmail. Why not go back to the north and live with bokoharam. Nonsen
se.

I always knew it will result to this. People like u are so wicked. U post on social media inciting mess messages that further aggravate insecurity in the North while posing like your brothers' keeper. The truth is unveiling nw and the world is watching. I implore everyone of us to be an agent of peace promotion in any capacity so as not a situation of brother kills brother. I knw my brothers in the east can't joke with land and business is indeed business. If there is peace all over the country, people can conveniently live anywhere without inconveniencing another. God Bless Nigeria!!
PoliticsRe: Two Condemned Robbers Escape From Courtroom by tayejay(m): 6:16pm On Jul 02, 2013
This verdict is partial and questionable. Y shud they b sentenced 2 death 4 stealing? Anyone can b a thief depending on d tolerance level of individuals 2 harsh situations. I don't support stealing 4 any reason, but sentencing robbers that didn't kill 2 death is out of place and calls 4 investigation
