Voting for the greatest living Nigerian could be based on different things, and I feel the voting should be based on how the individual has affected the lives of many Nigerians positively. Based on this, I feel Kanu Nwankwo is the most deserving of all those on the list, then maybe Dora Akunyili. These people have fought for what they believe in and there are visible results for this. Although KSA is a great musician, and I appreciate him for that, I don't know what he is doing on that list. As for some of the others, na only mouth dem get. And on the issue of Adeboye being the greatest, I think people really need to wake up to reality. For God sake, what has this man done for the good of the country? He is only good at conducting miracles all over the place, purchasing an aircraft with the congregation money (in order to gallivant all over). I am so sure his followers are responsible for the high number of votes, not with their large number, greatest living Nigerian indeed!!! |
I believe Nigeria is still going to be great, it would just take a long time. One problem is that we are all guilty, especially the youth. We complain of how the older generation is handling the current situation in Nigeria, but we indirectly help them. These people (politicians) are smart, and are always eager to employ the services of restless and poverty-sticken youth in distrupting the nation. One thing is that we need prayers, but some of our so-called religious leaders are not any better. They see their various religious institutions as money making centres and are not even ashamed to glorify and support the unsrupulous leaders. There are so many people who have the intention and various ideas of making Nigeria a better country, but it is so unfortunate that the rotten eggs outnumber such people, thereby frustrating their attempts. I urge fellow Nigerians to keep praying, striving and working hard to make this country great. We must never loose hope (I know it is sometimes difficult), because if we do, nobody will do it for us. We should not allow the works of our past leaders (the good ones) go down the drain. The truth is that if we all resolve on coming together to contribute in our own little way, gradually our beloved country would move to greater heights and become the envy of other nations. |

I undastand dat d poster was trying 2prove d point dat UK is also nt a bed of roses, but he didn't av 2go dis far. D police pictures only represent instances where dey r dealin with hardcore criminals, n nt just any random person. Dere is no big deal in avin situations like dis, cuz UK is just 'another country'!!! |
I don't know why people like complaining. People complain when the government does good or bad. I have always heard people say politicians go to other countries and see how things are done there, but refuse to do similar things in Nigeria. We have seen someone that wants to do something similar, yet we are still complaining. I don't how true the story is, but I support the move if it is true. I seriously think the time has come for changes in this State. The transport system is one thing that needs urgent attention, so banning molue is a great step indeed! |

nwando:Exactly what I pointed out in my first post on this topic. Just because someone calls himself a Muslim does not make him one if he lives contrary to the Quran. Most of this so-called Muslims are just portraying their cultural beliefs and try to cover up with Islam. Islam does not encourage its followers to force the religion on others. We are only meant to preach the religion by our words and actions, and leave those that do not believe to hold on their various beliefs. It is stated in the Quran, 'Unto you, your religion, and unto me, my religion.' Islam does not encourage violence. To give an example, it is believed that most Northern female muslims are 'maltreated' by their husbands in the name of religion. But I don't think anyone has heard of this happening to Yoruba female muslims. It is a cultural thing and the men just use Islam to cover their shame. If Islam preached that kind of treatment, don't you think it will be applicable to all muslim women. Please do not hate on Islam, it's just so unfortunate that some people potray it in a bad way. |
People like generalizing and talk as if all muslims are like dat. I am a muslim, and I don't support her arrest. It was just a class exercise and I do not see the big deal in it. Other names like Abdullah, Hassan were also suggested, so it's not like the woman chose the name on purpose. She accepted Muhammad because it received the most votes. In doing this she was also trying to encourage the pupils to believe in democracy. Islam is a religion of peace, but some people are trying to potray it in another light. I wonder why people believe all muslims like to fight/resort to violence when things don't go our way. People (fakes, who call themselves muslims) who behave like that are only trying to seek undue publicity. |
A man and his wife's niece both live in the UK (the man is studying for his masters while the niece is an undergrad). The girl lives a wild and reckless life, but her family members back in Nigeria do not know this. The man too dates a lot of girls and even impregnated one of his nieces' friends, but d girl aborted the pregnancy which later resulted in some complications. Both of them are serious party freaks, there is hardly any party they don't attend. The unfortunate thing is that their family in Nigeria are really struggling to maintain them, and do not know anything about the way they are living their lives. The niece is threatening to report d guy to his wife because of the complications being suffered by her friend as a result of the abortion. (her aunty is yet to give birth after nine years of marriage). The guy has also promised her that he will say every thing about her lifestyle to the family if she makes the mistake of talking about him. They have now resulted to blackmailing each other and are becoming desperate by the passing of each day in order to protect their dignity in the presence of their family. Their family friends in UK know about the situation on ground but none of them is prepared to report them. My reason for sharing this story on Nairaland is that I will like to know the views of people on this matter. Who do u pple think is more innocent? |
