I don't know what this our beloved country is turning into! Govt. trying all they could to silent the peoples voice for good governance. They haven't learn anything from the last protest. I think it's high time we the youth teach this govt. a lesson they will never forget in a hurry!

Pipsland78: I'm new on this thread and glad to here. I won the visa lottery and have been given my visa. I intend travelling to US on May 1 but I have 4 questions:

1) I've paid for my green card online, when, where and how do I pick up the greencard?

2) How do I process and pick up the SSN?

3) How do I get the driving license?

4) I did my medicals in Oct but got my visa on Nov 7, hope travelling to the US on May 1 is not too late.

I intend settling in Houston Texas, I would be glad to hook up with any NL member who resides in Houston.

Mr lecturer! Welcome to DV 2014 thread.
1. Your green card will be mailed to your US address when you get there.
2. When you get to US,you will ve to go to the nearest SSN office close to you to process your SSN.
3. You will ve to take and pass a written test and behind the wheel test before you will be issued your driver's license,but you will pay some fees for the license.
4. I don't think its advisable to travel then because medicals expires after six months except you want to do another one.

kennex89: please for those that went to the interview as couples, i will like you to answer this question for me is it compulsory for the visa beneficiary or derviative to go with their educational certificates cos i was told it is not compulsory for deriviatives and beneficiaries , it is only compulsory for the principal applicants. though i am a graduate and i am going with my GCE,UNIVERSITY,NYSC. but my wife being the principal applicants will be going with her testimonail, and other school documents. please couples answer this cos i want to know if it was asked.

During our interview,my wife's(beneficiary) educational certificates where nt requested but it will nt hurt to take them alone should in case because she took hers' alone.

Malcolm28: Having a challenge with my Visa Package. My mother-in-law has gone to pick the package on our behalf twice (last thursday and today) and she's still being told the package hasnt been sent to the DHL center. All calls to the number they provided are not going through. I have tried the status check provided above but it gives me "invalid case number" after using my case number. I have done a mail to lagosIV@state.gov to complain/enquire. Any ideas will help cause I don't know what the problem is as other people interviewed on same day with me have collected their package.

In my case,i called the number on the collection paper i was given after 4 working and i was told its ready.
But make sure u have ur passport no handy.

Yes! You will pass through some security checks,you will get to one where you will be asked to remove your belt,shoe and drop ur belongings and after passing through that security box or entrance,ur items will be given back to you.

Thanks so much for the good work you guys are doing on this forum.
I was selected in the dv visa lottery 2014. I have B.sc in chemistry.
In the application form, I filled university degree as highest educaton
obtained. There is a date of birth mistake in my waec result . It has
14th Nov 1985 on it, instead of 12th Nov 1985. I have gone for error
correction which might take sometime. I have all photocopied documents
backing the error correction such like photocopy of waec result,letter
from the school principal,birth certificate,bank draft,receipt of
payment,a filled form for error correction. Please I want to know if the
photocopied documents are acceptable or can i use my neco result but my problem with neco result is that i did not fill it in the form submitted to kcc or can my University degree result
serve me for the interview ? Please advice me on what to do.

The photocopies of the error correction is good but u just need a correction of DOB from high court and u re good to go. I had a similar error on my WAEC cert.,and on my interview day,the CO did nt ask me about it.
