Olarewajub: My home is fully off the grid (no NEPA or generator).
Would you still advise I get the 20W panel? Since you have solar already, you can charge with it, but ensure it's fully charged before you start using it. I bought mine since March 2022, and it's still going strong. Those who bought few months ago are complaining because they use it wrongly. Do you mind sharing how much precisely you bought yours? Also, do you care to share your solar setup? |

Olarewajub: Hello, thanks once again for your suggestion.
I just got the fan.
A quick question, can I use the fan while charging or it must be used only on the battery? When you newly bought it, you MUST charge it to full capacity (the light will turn Green when fully charged), doing this with NEPA light could take up to 12hours, after it's charged you can start using it while it's charging. I advise you buy Qasa 20w(15k minimum) panel to charge this fan effectively. With the panel it get to float by 11am/12 noon |

mctfopt: I dunno about websites, if you live in an area prone to lightning strikes, the results are there in the form of damaged inverters, TVs etc after a thunderstorm.
Also you'll notice a lot of strikes during rain. I will look at for these signs, thanks for the info |

mctfopt: I used the Fangpusun FLEXmax solar charger controller, which has a lifespan that depends on a variety of factors. These factors include how close you run it to the maximum open circuit voltage, how cool it runs (which is determined by the location), the protective devices you have (a surge protective device can help), and the area of the city you live in (some areas are more prone to lightning strikes than others). Thanks, is there any website or ways to know the areas that are more prone to lightning strikes? Those in Benin City, have your inverters, Cc or panels experience damages due to lightning strikes? |

Olarewajub: That's true.
I am looking at the rechargeable battery capacity.
That's why I am looking out for reputable brands that will give value for money. I use Qasa rechargeable fan + Qasa 20w panel, don't charge it with Generator and don't use it to charge your phone, then set it at speed 2 at night and it would last you till dawn plus some charge left over. It's sold for 40k+ |

Namzy: Performance has been so so. I know I have observed 2kw instantenous from my installed 2720w panels [340x8] with 6 of them being era. I'd say jinko is better because I remember when I installed the jink ist 340 x 2 I exceeded the installed capacity more than once but since I've added era I never did that. So if you have the budget go for original jinko. Although in defence to era, degradation has set in and I never deliberately tried to max the installed capacity when it saa newly installed Are you still using your two luminous tubular batteries with these panels? |

FEGEITOK: As seen on WhatsApp May God save us from this country. What if the patient died on the way to another facility within the state? In advanced country where things are normal, it's to save life before payment/deposit, in naija it's either you pay in full or you die (it's even worst in government hospitals where you still need to bribe medical personnels to attend to you after paying and doing the required test). We are indeed in perilous time. To all who intend to take patients to such hospital, better carry your Generator (preferably 5kva) to avoid stories! |

Nicols: I recently got two 200a batteries for a start due to the urgent need for alternative energy and limited fund at the time of purchase and I'm running them off grid on a 3.5kva Felicity solar inverter with a plan to increase/upgrade the batteries and panels anytime soon. A friend told me that lifepo4 would be a better option. Last time I asked a dealer about lifepo4, he told me that they sell in packs and that the packages usually come in 5 or 10kva configurations which are far above the capacity of my inverter. What do you advise pls? You must not buy 10kwh battery bank to use LifePO4. You can ask/contact @Valto for 24v 200ah LifePO4 since you use two batteries. Mind you, the fact that you use 3.5Kva does not mean that you have to limit yourself to such size of battery bank, you can go for higher/lower bank. |

isangjohnson: I think 48v 160ah LFP battery bank is to too small for his proposed loads. He said the 1hp inverter ac will be running for "at least" 4hrs and other minor loads may still be attached which might increase the overall consumption to about 7wh from 6pm to 6am. I suggest he should take 48v 230ah LFP battery bank as minimum. 48v 160ah LFP no be small bank compared to what he needed. If he can keep his consumption between 6-7kwh after day time, then 160ah 48v with 9 * 475w Jinko Panels would serve him well. Wait until @Valto state the prices for his sundry battery packs, then you will be amazed at the price of 48v 230ah you recommended. Everybody like better things but na the money some people dey wait for! |

Kaybthaniels: Thanks boss, what is a good a setup to go with this, In terms of number of solar panels and batteries?, This area isn't my strong point but the 5kva inverter will be used to cover 1.5hp sub pump (For at least 30 mins during the day) , 1hp inverter ac to run through the night for at least 4 hours, fridge/freezer for 6hrs during the day and tv , laptop, wifi router and two fans. Although you didn't state the watts consumption of your listed Appliances, if you have the funds go for 48v 280ah/230ah LiFePO4 battery with 545w Jinko Panel * 9 But if you are on budget go for 48v 160ah LiFePO4 battery with 475w Jinko Panel * 9 Note: Buy the batteries from @Valto, that's if he has fully coupled battery pack for the stated Ah above. |

desiji: The Comster is a single starnd wire it is not good for long distances, also all Joint or connection points are position of losses rather look for strand wires long ones without joining, strands cables distribute electrons more they are expensive but worth the Money The previous connection had 3-5 joins, but this new connection has no Join. |

Valentinooo: Good evening house, please I want to set up a frozen food shop for my wife. So I want to set up a 2kw solar system for her. She will be running only 2 inverter freezers 100w each for maybe 9am to 6pm. The set up will be done in the house and we will extend the wire to the shop in front of the house (Like 60yards distance).
Here are the things I planned for, hope I am on the right track?
1. 535w jinko panel (2)
2. 2ka inverter (don't know which to buy yet) please if you have any suggestions.
3. 60a mppt charge controller
4. 12v 160ah Lifepo4 battery
5. 60yards 10mm² cables
6. AC Spd 275v tomzn and Dc Spd 500v tomzn
Only the two freezers are going to be used. Please, am I on track with the above? If not please advise me anywhere you feel is not okay It's likely you will be tempted to upgrade sooner than later, since you are still in the design phase, I will advice you go for 24v 2.5kva Felicity/Crown Ricco Transformer inverter, with 475w Jinko Panel * (4) |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by TechGeek777: 1:20am On Jun 19, 2023 |
adrusa: I will suggest you add 2 more panels to ensure that both your freezers and the battery are adequately served during the day. The rest are okay as long as your wife don't become the centre for everyone to come and charge their phones and rechargeable lamps. Boss are you sure of this? If he should add two more panels as suggested (making it 2140w), can his 60a CC produce more than 800w for his 12v system? |

isangjohnson: Omo, I really need to measure the actual power consumption of my 1hp water pump. I've less concerned about it....... My cable size is 1.5mm and the distance is about 60m. Buy clamp meter to measure it. I bought mine from Jumia when I urgently need to know the amps draw of the pump |

Oshomo12: Now you understand why his pump is taking that much power. 2.5mm2 is too small. My distance is not even near his, and I am using 4mm2 flex for my pump. Max power I saw is 650w from my 1hp sub pump. This is a testament that Wire size and distance to pump determines what pump consume. |

Dam5reey: Wire plays a major role in consumption as there is a voltage drop and more current is required, imagine a voltage from 220 to 160V at the end of the pump!
If there pump requires 8AMP to run at 220V, but its seeing only 160V it will draw 11A. So 11A will be required from Source increasing the consumption from 8A to 11A which is 1760w to 2420w
See attached. Voltage dropped from 196V to 166V True! This is the spec of our sub pump. Pump Specs: Name: ASTRAL submersible motor Type: 4SD1100S Horsepower = 1.5hp Voltage = 220v Current = 8.8a 45uf/450v Power = 1.1kw Frequency = 50hz Cos 0.93 I wrote above spec before we installed it few months ago because the old one stopped working. |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by TechGeek777: 11:11pm On Jun 18, 2023 |
mank1234: The difference is too much to be attributable to change in wire size except the distance is extremely long. Other factors may be responsible: 1) different voltage. Some appliances consume more power as voltage increases while some consume same so long as it is within its operated level. 2) water level in the well. If the water table has risen as it is in rainy season slightly less power is required to lift it to same height than when water table has lowered.
Wire alone can't consume close to 700W. My brother, distance is much. From underground to surface is 180 feet plus. From surface to tank is 30 feet plus. From surface to control box is 90 feet plus. Note: I used carpentry tape to take these measurements myself (from underground to surface, I had to measure the pipes one after the other, some are 15ft plus). |
