Meritl: Hello wise one Solo. I'm about arranging marriage levels for me and my girlfriend. I've got a question and need your help. "BY THE TIME I GET MARRIED TO HER AT A REGISTRY, HER LAST NAME WILL CHANGE AND THIS WILL NOT CORRESPOND WITH WHAT IS IN HER INTERNATIONAL PASSPORT. What I'm I to do afterwards? Thanks.
Her last name won't change now. It will only change if you go for the change of name thing. Just go ahead my friend

damkollins: Yes.....saw it too which is why I'm surprised why some people have different opinion...I guess its because CIC were not explicit enough in their instruction but I believe the gazette oversees CIC operations.

This affidavit issue won't be fair to so many applicants.
Personally,I believe there should not be substitute for birth certificate but seems to me some applicants are getting positive result with it.....I really don't like taking chances in my life and always advice potential applicants to go for the best options that support their claim.Birth certificate with NPC seems easy to me than swearing in court grin
Cheers.
Good

queen47: Ok, guys, I nEed you people to help me understand this my wes situation.

When I first sent my documents, my status read ...Documents recieved- review in progress.

Later, the status changed to -waiting for verfication from institution (they sent me a mail to notify me of this).

I just checked today and the status now reads ...documents recieved- review in progress.(They didn't send me a mail)

What does this mean? Does it me they've gotten verification from my institution? Does it mean my evaluation is almost done?

This evaluation has taken so long. I've sent mail to ask for directives to use courier service to do the verification from institution and I haven't gotten any response
Evaluation in progress. You will get a completion feedback from them soon. Don't fret.

ANBAKO: If your country of permanent residence is Nigeria, then the answer is Accra Ghana.
Good man. Thank you.
TravelRe: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by technolee(m): 9:36pm On Jul 06, 2014
@house, filling my forms now. Please, which immigration office is requested for the processing of our application? Is it Accra, Ghana or what??
TravelRe: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by technolee(m): 4:27pm On Jul 06, 2014
damkollins: It's quite acceptable to update your status after you must have passed the application stage.
Update of status to include marriage, new born baby, divorce, change of jobs and so on are acceptable.
The local visa office in Accra can always be contacted to update your status with necessary supporting documents as evidence of change.
Marriage status supporting documents will include legal marriage certificate document, update of generic form, update of background information forms and additional information forms, you will need to pay processing free charges of 550CAD for a new spouse or 150CAD for a new baby, passport photographs, biodata page,PCC and so on.
If you have plans for marriage in the coming months, this should not delay your application package submission now as you can always add them to your status later on as you progresses.
Cheers.
Thank you so much for this piece. You rock!

@Meritl, I have seen your reason for asking whether you should include your girlfriend or not in your application as a common-law partner. I saw same and won't want to complicate my application for now. @Solomon and ferdi, is it possible to update my officer later of a marriage after having considered my application? I count on you guys after God. Happy sunday

Meritl: Hello Solo. Please, I plan moving with my Girlfriend that has been with me for over 2 years . Can you assist in those docs that relate us. Really been having difficulties in providing them...........................

Thanks.
Nothing like girlfriend here. Even if you have been with her for 10years. Your options now is to get married to her this month or submit your application and get married to her in between and notify your officer of the development. Finally, you can marry her after you earn yourself the PR and move her in. I hope I am on point @gurus?

TravelRe: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by technolee(m): 3:10pm On Jul 04, 2014
yomfad: Dear Solomonwise, i have just made payment for my Bsc to be evaluated by WES before i saw FAQ about required documents from Nigeria where it was stated as follow :

Question "I was exempted from part of my program (e.g. year 1) due to prior study completed. Do I need to provide transcripts for all prior study as well?

Answer "Yes. WES will require academic transcripts for all study leading to your qualification, including prior study that granted you study exemptions. WES will not issue an evaluation report that does not include a complete record of your study.

In my case, i did direct entry to 200 level for my Bsc. i did not indicate this when filling WES form online because i was thinking that i will be evaluated base on higher qualification. please what can i do now?
Leave story. I have evaluated mine too as a direct entry student. Don't waste time pondering over issue that is not. I only sent my BSc. Credentials. All the best

unibadan: I am at a cross road. With the score of IELTS to be 18, Education is 23, Experience is 15, Age, 12. This gives a total of 68. a point higher than 67. Will there be a slim chance for me to be selected for the score of 68 without asking my wife to do IELTS for additional 5 point.
With you scoring 67 or a little bit above it and another man scoring 99, you are both qualified. Just make a good application by packaging well and on time. All the best.
TravelRe: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by technolee(m): 5:02am On Jul 03, 2014
damkollins: I'll prefer you refer to them as dependants ......see the list above from what solomomwise listed.
If they do not fall among these set listed, they are not your dependants ....and so would not need PCC.
Cheers
You rock bro. Now I understand clearly. They won't need to provide as they are my siblings plus my mother. Gracias
TravelRe: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by technolee(m): 4:56am On Jul 03, 2014
solomonwis: You need PCC for everyone (spouse, children and adopted children above the age of 18 years) whether they are accompanying you to Canada or not.
Thank you bro. I appreciate

My members, do I need a police clearance certificate for myself alone or it includes my family members too? I don't seem to understand the instruction here because none of them would be going to Canada with me.

damkollins: 24 points!....hmmmmm...in this public address system of listening session!
Its well!
it is very possible. A friend that we studied together had 23. Only his writing was 6.5 otherwise, he would have made his 24points. I will work on the reading and writing. Listening and speaking is a piece of cake for me!
TravelRe: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by technolee(m): 5:11pm On Jun 30, 2014
ferdimako: Try redoing ur IELTS with 24pts on ur mind or won't it still make up d benchmark?
I will see to that bro. It will make up iff I could make 23points.
TravelRe: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by technolee(m): 12:18am On Jun 30, 2014
ferdimako: It would have been okay with his mother being there-aunt. I'm afraid cousins are not among.
*Sad* will have to give up on the programme or ............thinking........
TravelRe: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by technolee(m): 8:36pm On Jun 29, 2014
damkollins: Hmmmmmmm......I will need solomomwise's expertise on this your adaptability status while I try to explain to you what the books says about it.
Technically,I believe if the family tree is well explained to show the relationship between your cousin's parents (Uncle or Aunt) to your parent(Dad or Mum),It will be accpted. You will need their respective birth certificates as an evidence of proof of relationship.
As per CIC guidelines ,you can proove your adaptability for the listed relatives.....
Parents,Grandparents
Child,Grandchild
Brother,Sister
Aunt,Uncle or
Niece,Nephew
The above listed were officially listed on the documents checklist.
Cousins are not directly listed.....but I want to believe it should be accepted...my personal opinion.
I'll try to check out from some of my buddies if this will accepted.
Cheers
.
My thought too. His mother and mine are from same mother but different fathers. Ferdimako and Solomonwis should say something please.
TravelRe: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by technolee(m): 5:56pm On Jun 29, 2014
damkollins: Age...................12points
Bsc....................21points
4 years exp .......13points
Adaptability......not sure you will get 5 points because in your cousin.....if it's your uncle ,it's fine.
IELTS................You will need a score of 21points to get minimum of 67 points required.
Commence process for your IELTS and ECA evaluation .
Cheers
.
@Solomon and damkollins, is one's cousin in Canada not a part of the proof of adaptability?
TravelRe: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by technolee(m): 5:46pm On Jun 29, 2014
damkollins: I believe you should have a cumulative points of 70 only if you can prove that you job experience of 3 years 3 months is at skill type 0, or skill levels A or B of the 2011 edition of the Canadian National Occupational Classification(NOC).
What was your job/profession then.......if you dont mind.
Cheers
.
The 3yrs3mnths is in the same coy. Joined as a production person for 1yr6mnths and later got transferred to Electrical dept. and have taken another 1yr9mnths. So, what do you think?
TravelRe: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by technolee(m): 5:25pm On Jun 29, 2014
damkollins: Your 1 yr 6months will give 9 points but your 3 years 3 months will only increase your points from 9 to 13 points only if the job experience is at at skill type 0, or skill levels A or B of the 2011 edition of the Canadian National Occupational Classification(NOC) and you have your experience letter from the employer in the format instructed in the document checklist.
If your job experience of 3 years 3 months fall into this category i quoted above and you have the experience letter to prove it,not forgetting the fact that it must be an experience gotten in the last 10 years .........your total experience will be cumulatively 4 years 9 months which will give you 13 points.
It simply means points awarded isn't limited to your chosen or interested NOC but also jobs at skill type 0, or skill levels A or B of the 2011 edition of the Canadian National Occupational Classification(NOC).
Cheers
.
Thank you damkollins. If you read well, my experience is just for 3yrs3mnths. That should earn me 11points as against the 13points you quoted. The good part of your message is: irrespective of the NOC in consideration, the years will be considered provided it falls in any of the eligible occupations. That is sweet to hear.
TravelRe: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by technolee(m): 4:42am On Jun 29, 2014
ANBAKO: My thought is that you will only be assessed based on these 21 months which will earn you 9 points.
*Sad face*. You are not wrong at all bro. Age:12pts, ECA:BSc,=21 ielts:19pts, work exp: 9 or 11 as discussed, adaptability: 5. You can see why am really concerned here.
TravelRe: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by technolee(m): 11:27pm On Jun 28, 2014
ANBAKO: You will get 5 points for having proof of relationship in Canada. Only previous work experience in Canada (at least 1 year) will give you 10 points.
Good luck
You are the man @ANBAKO. My case is like this; I have a 3yrs3mnths work experience with a coy but 1yr6mnths of it was for a function outside of the NOC I am applying for. Would my 1yr9mnths give me 11points because of the years spent altogether?
TravelRe: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by technolee(m): 11:00pm On Jun 28, 2014
ANBAKO: 9 points.
whao! That is way too small. What will a proof of relationship in Canada earn too? Will the maximum point of 10 be awarded for that??
TravelRe: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by technolee(m): 10:05pm On Jun 28, 2014
@all, please, what point will 20 months of work experience earn?
TravelRe: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by technolee(m): 10:02pm On Jun 28, 2014
Ebenete: Hi Technolee. Do you mean "to whom it may concern" will not be accepted.
Capital NO. It will even give the opportunity to use it for other programmes self. My HR is the barrier in my case. Will give them what they want and push them till they respond!

TravelRe: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by technolee(m): 11:30am On Jun 28, 2014
damkollins: CIC did not give specific instruction on who to address it so you really don't need to have sleepless night over it.I have personally seen applicants that address it to whoever it concerns and were successful .Some addressed theirs to CIC and they were fine too.
I did personalized mine for CIC too. It's your call......you won't be penalized either ways.
Cheers.
Many thanks to you bro. The HR guy said he doesn't want to whom. I will use the one stated above.
