Rashduct4luv: Everything was placid in the large valley except for the voice of a two-year old child who was weeping. His mother embraced him, took him close to her chest, and patted his shoulders with tenderness and compassion. The youngster quickly went into sleep as his mother stared at the far horizon saying in a low weakened voice : “may Allah have mercy on your soul: father of Muhammad (her husband); you took us with you from Makkah to Gaza in search of our daily bread and good life, yet you died and were buried here. Here am I on my way to Makkah again to have your son raised among his tribe and clan 'Banu Al-Muttalib'.”
The poor mother went into a bitter fit of weeping and crying as she remembered those few years she had spent in Palestine with her beloved husband, who was the best husband, brother, and friend for her. However, the happy and beautiful days passed as quickly as clouds, or as a short but pretty dream.
In the honorable Makkah, the mother lived with her child in the protection of her husband's family. She raised her son by giving him a good education and instructions, flowing on him her love and compassion, so the youngster grew up with a well balanced psyche, a peaceful nature, and great ethics. The virtuous mother took on her shoulders the responsibility of teaching her son the Quran, reading, and writing so that he may be well acquired with both religious and other fundamental knowledge. Thus, she sent her son to one of the small elementary schools despite her poverty and inability to save the instructor's wage. Yet, Muhammad went to his first day at school almost unable to walk properly, and when the instructor saw Muhammad, he sort of belittled him and told him: “O my son, just sit next to me and listen carefully to your elders so that you may get used to reading and memorization.”
However, the young Muhammad Ibn Idrees Ash-Shafi'ee may Allah have mercy upon him was glittering with intelligence and ingenuity. He used to incredibly quickly learn by heart whatever he heard from what the teacher dictated to his students. Every single day in the small school his knowledge increased along with his enthusiasm to learn more. His teacher then loved him more and actively pushed him forward.
The youngster naturally became more and more distinguished, until his teacher told him one day, “My son, you are highly smart and intelligent to the extent that I hardly make any effort with you that is worth any wage. All I need from you is to teach on my behalf when I am not present.” The youngster rushed happily to his mother to tell her the happy news that she would not have to pay anymore for the teacher. The virtuous mother was glad for her son's excellence and encouraged him even more to study. This led him to embark actively on the completion of learning the Quran by heart which he finally completed when he was only seven years old.
Being in great happiness for her son's completion of the memorization of the Quran in that fast manner, she started thinking how could she best direct this smart child towards more excellence. She sent him to attend the lessons given around the Sacred Mosque of Makkah. The boy started to listen to prominent scholars; and as he did not have the price for paper on which to write what he listened to, he used parchment, palm tree leaves, and camel shoulder bones. During this early period of his quest for knowledge, Imam Ash-Shafi'ee may Allah have mercy upon him intelligently realized the importance of the learning the classical Arabic language from its pure sources, in order to understand the Quran and the Sunnah, (the Prophet Muhammad's sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) sayings, acts, and approvals) in the best possible way. He went to the Huthayl tribe, which was among the most eloquent Arab tribes, and stayed with them for long years in which he learned their eloquence, memorized their poems, studied the biographies of Arabs from pre-Islamic era as well as the Islamic era, and learned the skill of knighthood and archery. He eventually became a brave unrivaled knight and a skillful archer who rarely missed his target.
As years passed, Imam Ash-Shafi'ee may Allah have mercy upon him returned to his beloved hometown Makkah. No sooner had he quenched his longings to his mother, he continued his quest for knowledge enthusiastically. He headed for the Grand Mufti (Religious Jurist) of Makkah, the Sacred Mosque, Muslim Ibn Khalid Az-Zinji who became the first teacher for him in Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence). He also, started studying Hadeeth under the supervision of Sufyan Ibn 'Uyaynah, the narrator of the Sacred Mosque. In a short time, Imam Ash-Shafi'ee may Allah have mercy upon him rose to prominence as an excellent Islamic scholar. His mentor, Muslim Ibn Khalid gave him permission to answer the religious enquiries when Imam Ash-Shafi'ee was only fifteen. He told him proudly, “O Muhammad! Give fatwa and answer the questions of people. By Allah! Now it is opportune for you to give fatwa." His other mentor, Sufyan Ibn 'Uyaynah, used to refer enquirers to him while he turned towards him and pointed "ask this boy.”
While still studying in Makkah, Imam Ash-Shafi'ee may Allah have mercy upon him heard of the renown scholar of Madeenah, Imam Malik Ibn Anas may Allah be pleased with him. He wanted to become a student of Imam Malik may Allah have mercy upon him yet he saw with his sharp intellect that he should not go to him unprepared and void. He memorized Malik's famous book “Al Muwatta” in only nine days. After that he went off to see Imam Malik may Allah have mercy upon him in his house in Madeenah. Imam Ash-Shafi'ee may Allah have mercy upon him spoke eloquently and politely with the Imam and told him that he wished to become his student. The Imam looked at the boy for a long time as the boy was telling his story of how he sought knowledge so far. The Imam had an astonishing physiognomy and a penetrating insight; he told him: “My son! By the Will of Allah you will have a great future. Tomorrow come to me and bring with you someone who could read the Muwatta' well as I fear you would not be able to read it by yourself.” Imam Ash-Shafi'ee may Allah have mercy upon him responded with the same politeness “Imam, I will read it myself from memory without a book.”
Imam Ash-Shafi'ee may Allah have mercy upon him remained in the company of Imam Malik may Allah have mercy upon him for a long time. The Imam loved him a lot, and in 179 A.H after Imam Malik passed away, Imam Ash-Shafi'ee may Allah have mercy upon him returned to Makkah from Madeenah equipped with a great load of knowledge which had influenced his life. In Makkah he was wedded to Hameedah Bint Nafi', a grand daughter of Caliph 'Uthman Ibn 'Afan may Allah be pleased with him and had two sons and a daughter from her.
In the courtyard of the well of Zamzam and next to Prophet Ibraheem's Maqam (the stone on which he stepped up to put the bricks in the Ka'bah), Imam Ash-Shafi'ee may Allah have mercy upon them sat down to teach people and around him many students were gathered from everywhere. His circle became very prominent in the Sacred Mosque of Makkah and even became well known outside Makkah until it reached Iraq. Abdur-Rahman Ibn Mahdi, one of the scholars of Iraq sent him a letter requesting that he authors a book on the evidences of legislation from Quran, Sunnah and the consensus of the religious scholars, as well as other issues upon which the science of Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence) is built. Imam Ash-Shafi'ee, may Allah have mercy upon him, wrote the book and named it Ar-Risalah (The Treatise) which became the first book that founded what came to be called: 'Ilm Usul Al Fiqh (The science of the sources of Islamic Jurisprudence), of which Imam Ash-Shafi'ee may Allah have mercy upon him was the organizer, classifier, and the inventor of its issues.
In 195 A.H the Imam Ash-Shafi'ee may Allah have mercy upon him traveled to Baghdad for the second time and continued to teach there for two years. Many studied under his supervision including Imam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal may Allah have mercy upon him who later said “Had it not been for Imam Ash-Shafi'ee may Allah have mercy upon him we would not have known the understanding of Hadeeth.” Before he left Iraq he had finished writing his large book Al Hujjah (the Proof), in which he put down the essence of his new school of jurisprudence.
In 199 A.H the Imam went to Egypt where he stared to spread his knowledge between the Egyptians who loved him very much. More students came to him from all over the world. Towards the end of his life, the Imam became very sick. This illness continued with him for four years yet it did not stop him from teaching or lecturing. When he came back to his house after teaching, he used to force himself to ignore the pains of the sickness and get absorbed in writing, and editing and proofreading the book of Hujjah which he wrote in Iraq. After completed the proofreading and editing works he renamed the book’s name as Al-Umm (The Mother). The Imam remained to follow his daily routine until illness forced him to retire and stop teaching. His students used to visit him to console him in his sickness. One day one of his students entered his room and asked him: “How do you feel this morning O Imam?” Ash-Shafi'ee may Allah have mercy upon him answered: “I feel that I am traveling away from this world, away from the brothers, drinking from the cup of death, and approaching Allah the Glorious. By Allah I do not know if my soul will go to heaven so that I may congratulate it, or to hell so that I may lament.” He then went into crying. On a Friday, the last day of Rajab in the year 204 A.H, his pure soul went up to its Provider and Caretaker. He was buried in the cemetery of Qurashiyyeen amidst the cemeteries of Banu Al-Hakam in Egypt. May Allah bless the Imam's soul and admit him into his wide paradises.
Aamin.

Islam › Re: How To Perform Tayammum (sand Ablution)? by Techreliance(m): 11:14am On Oct 29, 2021 |
Lukgaf: When there is no water or you are not in a state you can use water for ablution (e.g extreme cold and you can not get warm water), then Islam permits you to do Tayammum (sand ablution). Below from IslamQA summarises how to perform it.
Al-Bukhari and Muslim narrated the hadeeth of ‘Ammar ibn Yasir describing tayammum . Al-Bukhari narrated it in a number of places in his Sahih. One of these reports (no. 347; 1/455 of Fath al-Bari) says: “ ‘It would have been sufficient for you to do this’ – then he struck the palms of his hands on the ground, then dusted them off, then wiped the back of each hand with the other, then he wiped his face with his hands.”
Abu Dawud (317; 1/515 of ‘Awn al-Ma’bud) narrated it with the same isnad as al-Bukhari, apart from the Shaykh of al-Bukhari (Muhammad ibn Salam), instead of whom he mentioned Muhammad ibn Sulayman al-Anbari, of whom al-Hafiz said in al-Taqrib (2/167): he is saduq (truthful). This version of the report says: “He struck his hands on the ground and dusted them off, then he struck his right hand with his left hand, and his left hand with his right hand, then he wiped his face.”
Al-Hafiz mentioned in al-Fath (1/457) that al-Ism’ili narrated it with the wording: “It would have been sufficient for you to strike your hands on the ground, then dust them off, then wipe your right hand over your left and your left hand over your right, then wipe your face.”
What should be wiped first in tayammum? Al-Shanqiti said in Adwa’ al-Bayan (2/43):
“This hadith of al-Bukhari states that the hands should be wiped before the face.”
Shaykh al-Islam said in al-Fatawa (21/423):
“The report of al-Bukhari clearly shows that the back of the hand should be wiped before the face. The fact that in another report he said ‘the back of the hand’ indicates that he wiped the back of each with the palm of the other.” He also said (21/425: “But the report which was narrated only by al-Bukhari shows that he wiped the backs of the hands before the face.” (See al-Fatawa, 21/422-427)
Based on this, the way in which tayammum is done is to say Bismillah with the intention of doing tayammum , then strike the ground once with the palms of the hands, then wipe the back of the right hand with the palm of the left, and the back of the left hand with the palm of the right, then wipe the face with both hands. Then the same du'as that are recited after wudu’ should be recited after tayammum.
And Allah knows best.
Summary
1- Say Bismillah. 2- Strike the ground once with the palms of the hands. 3- Wipe the back of the right hand with the palm of the left, and the back of the left hand with the palm of the right. 4- Wipe the face with both hands. 5- Recite the same dua's that are recited after wudu. Islam › Re: The Law Of Contrast And The Breakdown Of Muslim Relationships by Techreliance(m): 8:34pm On Oct 22, 2021 |
Lukgaf: And it is among His signs that He has created for you wives from among yourselves, so that you may find tranquillity in them, and He has created love and kindness between you. Surely in this there are signs for a people who reflect. [30:21]
https://jamiat.org.za/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/strong-marriage-660x495-e1441196251367.jpg
Psychologists have long known about the contrast principle and it is easily demonstrated in university campuses around the world with the simplest of experiments. Teacher brings in three buckets of hot, cold and tepid (room temperature) water and a student each (while blindfolded) is asked to place their hand in the hot water bucket and the other in the cold one. Then, both are asked to dip the same hand in tepid (room temperature) water and describe the sensation.
Wow!
The student who had earlier dipped his hand in hot water describes it as cold while the other describes it as hot. That’s because they had different “comparison points” and anchors.
Marketing gurus and sales people use this principle to maximum effect! In the US estate agents are taught to show “overinflated and mediocre” properties first before showing the actual property which they want to sell and the instant glow in the eyes of the unsuspecting customer tells its own story. The first “overinflated and mediocre” property contrasts and extenuates the second property and the customer views it much better than it actually is.
Car dealers are taught to always negotiate the base (sticker price) of the car before selling options (tinted windows, sunroof, alloys etc) because the cost of £780 for tinted windows seems miniscule compared to the £18,000 which has been agreed for the car.
Similarly department store sales staffs are trained to offer you an additional £60 silk tie after the sale of £600 suit.
Overpriced deserts and drinks at restaurants work on the same principle.
Here is the kicker!
Sara Gutierres, Ph.D., and Douglas Kenrick, Ph.D conducted a series of experiments where male college students were offered a photo of a potential blind date candidate of average attractiveness. If the men were watching “Charlie’s Angels” the photo appeared to be less desirable (then it actually was) to the point where men wouldn’t bother for a date which was available to them. The glamour girls of “Charlie’s Angels” were to blame because they made average attractiveness look mediocre.
We (as Muslims) are bombarded by men and women of “perfect figures” by the media, what do you think it’s doing to our relationships? For men, Allah (SWT) says in the Qur’aan:
[3:14] It has been made attractive for people to love the desired things; that is, women, children, hoarded heaps of gold and silver, branded horses, cattle and tillage. That is an enjoyment of the worldly life; but with Allah lies the beauty of the final resort.
Women are a source of attraction for men to begin with but when the “curvy beauties of the screen” are watched with intent then the perfectly attractive Sunnah loving home wife won’t seem so attractive anymore.
Hollywood or Bollywood, movies, drams, soaps and songs will inevitably downgrade your spouse because Shaytaan is there to exploit the “Law of Contrast” and make the “curvy beauties of the screen” appear much more sensual and attractive than they actually are. Similar is the concept of “intellectual superiority” where the well rehearsed Pundit on the media will make your own spouse look inferior then they really are.
Islamic Tele-evangelism, Nasheed concerts and pop culture are also nothing but deadly to our Islamic ideology while thinly disguised as “Islamic events”. And then we have the massive “Islamic conferences” where speakers are flown in from overseas paid megabucks and housed in 5-star accommodations to deliver “Islamic talks” to thousands of fans.
Where are we heading with all of this?
In our communities, how many of us have heard stories of marital breakdowns where the spouse is deemed to be “physically unattractive” or “intellectually inferior” while we scratch our heads and say, “There isn’t a lot wrong with him or her!”.
Can the “Law of contrast ” be discounted in the breakdown of Muslim family epidemic which every community is experiencing?
Fortunately, the Qur’aan gives solid advice to limit the damage as follows:
Guard your gaze: The poison of “contrast” enters your heart and mind through your eyes so the Qur’aan commands the first barrier to be placed on the sight: [24:30] Tell the believing men that they must lower their gazes and guard their private parts; it is more decent for them. Surely Allah is All-Aware of what they do.
[24:31] And tell the believing women that they must lower their gazes…
2. Dolled up Hijabees & Macho Bearded men: How many times have you been to the Masjid and noticed “dolled up Hijabi Sisters” with layers upon layers of makeup and skin tight clothes OR men with tight clothes to show their bodies which they have worked tirelessly at the gym for weeks on end? These “creatures of self-indulgence” must be told that they are committing Haram while enticing others.
[24:31] ….and guard their private parts, and must not expose their adornment, except that which appears thereof, and must wrap their bosoms with their shawls, and must not expose their adornment, except to their husbands or their fathers or the fathers of their husbands, or to their sons or the sons of their husbands, or to their brothers or the sons of their brothers or the sons of their sisters, or to their women, or to those owned by their right hands, or male attendants having no (sexual) urge, or to the children who are not yet conscious of the shames of women. And let them not stamp their feet in a way that the adornment they conceal is known. And repent to Allah O believers, all of you, so that you may achieve success.
3. Thanking Allah (SWT): Next time your spouse does something which pleases you don’t forget to “Thank Allah (SWT)”.
[14:7] (Recall the time) when your Lord declared, .If you express gratitude, I shall certainly give you more, and if you are ungrateful, then My punishment is severe.
4. Mr Perfect & Miss Right? There is a saying “Nobody is perfect” but it’s time to implement it. Next time you are searching for perfection in your spouse, direct that gaze to yourself instead and follow the command of Allah (SWT) for the “dear wife”:
[4:19] O you who believe, it is not lawful for you that you should forcibly take women as inheritance. Do not hold on to them so that you may take away some of what you have given them, unless they commit a clearly shameful act. Live with them in the recognized manner. If you dislike them, then it is quite likely that you dislike something and Allah has placed a lot of good in it.
So before reaching for that remote control next time remember what it’s doing to your relationship!

Islam › Re: Do we Belief In Superstitious Omens as Muslims? by Techreliance(m): 9:18pm On Oct 15, 2021 |
Rashduct4luv: An omen is a phenomenon that is believed to foretell the future, often signifying the advent of change. This can be a good or bad change. For example, a seller may refuse to collect money from a woman early in the morning as this is perceived to portend negativity in sales throughout that day. Also a seller may refuse to sell on credit at the start of the week/month/year for fear of continuing the trend of selling on credit throughout the week/month/year. Other common superstition is to think evil of every black cat/bird, unknowingly striking the leg on a stone, a child falling from the mother's back, etc.
The Prophet Salallahu alayhi wasalam forbade the superstitious belief in omen as it is a form of Shirk that is contrary to Tawheed. This is because superstition is a trick by means of which the Shaytaan seeks to cause fear and whisper into people’s hearts.
The hadeeth of Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There is no ‘adawa (contagion except by the will of Allaah) and no tiyarah (superstitious belief in bird omens).” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5757; Muslim, 102.
Abu Dawood (3910) and al-Tirmidhi (1614) narrated, in a report that was classed as saheeh by al-Tirmidhi, that Ibn Mas’ood (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: ‘Tiyarah is shirk, tiyarah is shirk,’ but there is none of us who… but Allaah takes it away by means of trust in Him (tawakkul).” The words “there is none of us who…” are the words of Ibn Mas’ood (may Allaah be pleased with him), not of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). What this means is that there is no one among us who does not experience some kind of tiyarah and superstition in his heart, but Allaah takes that away from the heart by means of the person putting his trust in Him and delegating his affairs to Him.
Anas ibn Maalik (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There is no ‘adawa and no tiyarah, but I like optimism.” They said: “What is optimism?” He said: A good word.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5756; Muslim, 2220.
These ahaadeeth clearly indicate that superstition is haraam and warn against it, because it involves the heart being attached to something other than Allaah, and because everyone who believes that some things may have an effect of bringing benefits or causing harm when Allaah has not caused them to be so, has committed the sin of minor shirk, and has opened the door to the Shaytaan to make him afraid and cause him mental, physical or financial harm. Hence the Lawgiver forbids superstition and declares it to be false, and tells us that it has no effect of either bringing benefits or warding off harm.
Once you have understood this, then if any such thoughts occur to you, you must fear Allaah and put your trust in Him and seek His help. You should not pay any attention to these bad thoughts and false notions. The Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) has told us the remedy for superstition, which was narrated by Imam Ahmad in his Musnad (2/220) and classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in al-Saheehah (1065), from the hadeeth of ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Amr ibn al-‘Aas (may Allaah be pleased with him) who said: “If tiyarah stops a man from doing what he needs to, then he has committed shirk.” They said: “What is the expiation for that?’ He said: “To say: ‘Allaahumma laa khayra illa khayruka wa laa tayra illa tayruka, wa laa ilaaha ghayruka (O Allaah, there is no goodness except Your goodness, and no birds except Your birds, and no god except You).” [Translator’s note: birds are mentioned here because the Arabs of the Jaahiliyyah had a superstitious belief in bird omens and would make decisions based on observations of bird movements]
The believer should not be pessimistic or superstitious, rather he should always be optimistic and think well of His Lord. If he hears something or sees something he should hope for the best, even if it seems to be otherwise. He should hope for good from his Lord in all circumstances. This is how the believer is, for all his affairs are good, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “How wonderful is the affair of the believer, for his affairs are all good, and that does not apply for anyone except the believer. If something good happens to him he gives thanks, and that is good for him; if something bad happens to him he bears it with patience, and that is good for him.” Saheeh Muslim, 2999. Thus the believer is always in a state of contentment and peace of mind, putting his trust in Allaah and far removed from worries and distress which the Shaytaan, who loves to cause grief to the believers although he cannot do them any harm, tries to whisper into his heart. We ask Allaah to keep us and you safe and sound from all bad things. And Allaah knows best.

Islam › Re: Blessings Can Be Trials And Challenges, Blessings. by Techreliance(m): 9:10pm On Oct 15, 2021 |
socialmaiden: That you have the good things of life doesn’t mean that God almighty loves you and that you are facing financial challenges doesn’t mean that He hates you. Both of these life moments can be blessings or tests from the almighty Allah.
Very often, I see people buy a car or a house and then post online, ‘God loves me’, or ‘God’s grace is all over me’ or more ridiculously, ‘God’s special one’.
This supposed blessing may however be a trial if it is the reason that you are proud, treat others badly, live a wayward life and neglect your worship.
Here is what Allah (SWT) says in the holy Qur’an :
]‘Your wealth and your children are but a trial, and Allah has with him a great reward.’ (surah 64 vs 15)
It is therefore important that you are grateful, humble, spend your wealth in doing the right things so that this wealth might be a blessing for you. And so that your deeds with it can stand for you on a day when your wealth would be of no use to you.
Challenges are a part of life. Everyone will face them at one point or the other.
“We shall certainly test you, until We ascertain those of you who (sincerely) strive and those who are steadfast (in Allah’s Religion); and We shall test your affairs (to distinguish the liars from the truthful).” [Qur’an, surah 47:31]
The challenges are worse for you when they are the reason that you seek help from deities other than Allah, that you neglect your worship because you think the almighty has abandoned you, and that you do other things like getting involved in corrupt practices, cursing others and wishing them bad.
Challenges are a blessing when you show patience and persevere. Allah says in His glorious book :
“O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.” (Surah 2:153)
Challenges faced with patience will wipe away your sins and add to your book of good deeds, helping you on the Day of Judgment.
“Nothing befalls a believer, a (prick of a) thorn or more than that, but Allah will raise him one degree in status thereby, or erase a bad deed.” (Bukhari and Muslim)
In Summary, wealth, poverty, good health, ill-health are from the almighty Allah. Don’t let them be the reason that you enter hell fire. Rather, let them be your ladder to al jannatu l firdaus.
May Allah make righteous deeds easy for you and for me.

Lukgaf: Anas (Radhiyallahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallalahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, “Every Nabi was blessed by Allah Ta’ala with a special duaa which was guaranteed to be accepted. Every Nabi had made his duaa in this world for his ummah, and I wish to reserve my special duaa for the day of Qiyaamah so that I may intercede to Allah Ta’ala on behalf of my entire ummah.” (muslim)
Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam)’s deep and intense love for his ummah can never ever be comprehended. It is a love that far surpasses the love of any mother for her infant child. The following incident presents a glimpse of his extreme love for his entire ummah.
Our mother Aaisha (Radhiyallahu Anha) reports that once I had seen Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) in a happy state. I said to him, “O Rasul of Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), make (a special) duaa for me.” Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) began making duaa in the following words: “O Allah, forgive Aaisha, forgive her for her past and future, open and secret sins.” Aaisha (Radhiyallahu Anha) became extremely pleased and began to laugh out of joy to such an extent that she placed her mubaarak head on her lap. Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), noticing the extreme happiness of Aaisha (Radhiyallahu Anha) upon the duaa he made for her, said, ‘O Aaisha, are you happy on account of the duaa I made for you?” Aaisha (Radhiyallahu Anha) replied, “Certainly I am happy! Why should I not be happy, whereas you made such a special duaa for me today?” Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) then said: “I swear by Allah, after every salaah, I make this special duaa for my entire ummah.” (Saheeh ibn Hibbaan #7111)
May Allah Ta’ala bless us with His special love and the love of his beloved, Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), and keep us steadfast and firm on the mubaarak sunnah in every facet of our lives until our last breath.

Islam › Re: Major Shirk And Minor Shirk by Techreliance(m): 3:00pm On Sep 10, 2021 |
Rashduct4luv: Praise be to Allah
One of the most important obligations is to know the meaning of shirk, its seriousness and its different types, so that our Tawheed (belief in the Oneness of Allah) and our Islam may be complete, and our faith may be sound. We say – And Allah is the Source of strength and true guidance comes from Him.
Know – may Allah guide you – that the word shirk in Arabic means taking a partner, i.e., regarding someone as the partner of another. It is said [in Arabic]: ashraka baynahuma (he joined them together) when he regarded them as two of equal status; or ashraka fi amrihi ghayrahu (he introduced another into his affair) when he made two people involved in it.
In terms of sharee’ah or Islamic terminology, shirk means ascribing a partner or rival to Allah in Lordship (ruboobiyyah), worship or in His names and attributes.
A rival is a peer or counterpart. Hence Allah forbids setting up rivals with Him and he condemns those who take them (rivals) as gods instead of or besides Allah in many verses of the Qur’aan. Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“Then do not set up rivals unto Allah (in worship) while you know (that He Alone has the right to be worshipped)” [al-Baqarah 2:22]
“And they set up rivals to Allah, to mislead (men) from His path! Say: ‘Enjoy (your brief life)! But certainly, your destination is the (Hell) Fire!’” [Ibraaheem 14:30]
In the hadeeth it is narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever dies claiming that Allah has a rival, will enter Hell.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 4497; Muslim, 92.
The types of shirk: The texts of the Qur’aan and Sunnah indicate that shirk and the ascribing of rivals to Allah sometimes puts a person beyond the pale of Islam and sometimes does not. Hence the scholars divided shirk into two types which they call shirk akbar (major shirk) and shirk asghar (minor shirk). There follows a brief description of each type:
1 – Major shirk This means ascribing to someone other than Allah something that belongs only to Allah, such as Lordship (ruboobiyyah), divinity (uloohiyyah) and the divine names and attributes (al-asma’ wa’l-sifaat).
This kind of shirk may sometimes be outward, such as the shirk of those who worship idols and graves, or the dead or absent.
Or it may sometimes be hidden, such as those who put their trust in other gods besides Allah, or the shirk and kufr of the hypocrites. For even though their (hypocrites’) shirk puts them beyond the pale of Islam and means that they will abide forever in Hell, it is a hidden shirk, because they make an outward display of Islam and conceal their kufr and shirk, so they are inwardly mushriks but not outwardly.
Shirk may sometimes take the form of beliefs: Such as the belief that there is someone else who creates, gives life and death, reigns or controls the affairs of the universe along with Allah.
Or the belief that there is someone else who must be obeyed absolutely besides Allah, so they follow him in regarding as permissible or forbidden whatever he wants, even if that goes against the religion of the Messengers.
Or they may associate others with Allah in love and veneration, by loving a created being as they love Allah. This is the kind of shirk that Allah does not forgive, and it is the shirk of which Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“And of mankind are some who take (for worship) others besides Allah as rivals (to Allah). They love them as they love Allah” [al-Baqarah 2:165]
Or the belief that there are those who know the Unseen as well as Allah. This is very common among some of the deviant sects such as the Raafidis (Shi’ah), extreme Sufis, and Baatinis (esoteric sects) in general. The Raafidis believe that their imams have knowledge of the unseen, and the Baatinis and Sufis believe similar things about their awliya’ (“saints”), and so on. It is also shirk to believe that there is someone who bestows mercy in a manner that is befitting only for Allah, so he shows mercy as Allah does and forgives sins and overlooks the bad deeds of his worshippers.
Shirk may sometimes take the form of words: Such as those who make du’aa’ or pray to someone other than Allah, or seek his help or seek refuge with him with regard to matters over which no one has control except Allah, whether the person called upon is a Prophet, a wali (“saint”), an angel or a jinn, or some other created being. This is a kind of major shirk which puts one beyond the pale of Islam.
Or such as those who make fun of religion or who liken Allah to His creation, or say that there is another creator, provider or controller besides Allah. All of these are major shirk and a grave sin that is not forgiven.
Shirk may sometimes take the form of actions: Such as one who sacrifices, prays or prostrates to something other than Allah, or who promulgates laws to replace the rulings of Allah and makes that the law to which people are obliged to refer for judgement; or one who supports the kaafirs and helps them against the believers, and other acts that go against the basic meaning of faith and put the one who does them beyond the pale of Islam. We ask Allah to keep us safe and sound.
2 – Minor shirk This includes everything that may lead to major shirk, or which is described in the texts as being shirk, but does not reach the extent of being major shirk.
This is usually of two types: 1 – Being emotionally attached to some means which have no basis and for which Allah has not given permission, such as hanging up “hands”, turquoise beads etc on the grounds that they offer protection or that they ward off the evil eye. But Allah has not made them the means of such protection, either according to sharee’ah or according to the laws of the universe.
[Translator’s note: the “hands” referred to are objects made of metal, pottery etc, usually blue or turquoise in colour, that some people hang up to ward off the evil eye, according to their mistaken belief]
2 – Venerating some people or things in a way that does not go so far as ascribing lordship to them, such as swearing by something other than Allah, or saying, “Were it not for Allah and So and so,” etc.
The scholars have stipulated guidelines to distinguish major shirk from minor shirk when shirk is mentioned in the texts of sharee’ah. These guidelines include the following:
(i) – When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) states clearly that this action is minor shirk, such as in al-Musnad (27742) where it is narrated that Mahmoud ibn Labeed said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The thing that I fear most for you is minor shirk.” They said: “O Messenger of Allah, what is minor shirk?” He said: “Showing off, for Allah will say on the Day when people are recompensed for their actions: ‘Go to those for whom you were showing off with your deeds in the world, and see what reward you find with them.’” Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in al-Silsilah al-Saheehah, 951.
(ii) – When the word shirk is used in the texts of the Qur’aan and Sunnah in the indefinite form [without the definite article al-]. This usually refers to minor shirk, and there are many examples of this, such as when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Incantations, amulets and love spells are shirk.” Narrated by Abu Dawood, 3883; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in al-Silsilah al-Saheehah, 331.
What is meant by shirk here is minor shirk, not major shirk.
Amulets are things that are hung on children such as turquoise beads and the like, which they claim will protect them from the evil eye.
Love spells are something that they do, claiming that it will make a woman beloved to her husband and a man beloved to his wife.
(iii) – If the Sahaabah understood from the texts of sharee’ah that what was meant by shirk here was minor shirk, not major. Undoubtedly the understanding of the Sahaabah carries weight, because they are the most knowledgeable of the people concerning the religion of Allah, and the most knowledgeable as to the intent of the Lawgiver. For example, Abu Dawood (3910) narrated from Ibn Mas’ood (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Tiyarah (superstitious belief in omens) is shirk, tiyarah is shirk,” three times, and there is no one among us but (will have some of that) but Allah will rid him of it by means of tawakkul (putting his trust in Allah). The words “there is no one among us…” are the words of Ibn Mas’ood, as was explained by the prominent scholars of hadeeth. This indicates that Ibn Mas’ood (may Allah be pleased with him) understood that this was minor shirk, because he could not have said, “There is no one among us…” referring to major shirk. Moreover, major shirk cannot be eliminated by means of tawakkul, rather it is essential to repent therefrom.
(iv) – If the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) interpreted the words shirk or kufr in a manner which indicates that what is meant is a minor form thereof and not the major form. For example al-Bukhaari (1038) and Muslim (74) narrated from Zayd ibn Khaalid al-Juhani that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) led the morning prayer for us at al-Hudaybiyah following rainfall during the night. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) finished, he turned to face the people and said to them: “Do you know what your Lord has said?” They said: “Allah and his Messenger know best.” He said: “This morning one of My slaves became a believer in Me and one a disbeliever. As for him who said: ‘We have been given rain by the grace of Allah and His mercy,’ that one is a believer in Me, a disbeliever in the stars; and as for him who said: ‘We have been given rain by such-and-such a star, that one is a disbeliever in Me, a believer in the stars.’”
The interpretation of the word kufr here is given in another report narrated from Abu Hurayrah who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Do you not know what your Lord said? ‘I do not send any blessing upon My slaves but a group among them become kaafirs thereby because they refer to the stars and attribute things to the stars.'" This explains that if a person attributes rainfall to the stars by believing that they caused it to fall – when in fact Allah has not made the stars a means of causing rainfall – his kufr is a kind of ingratitude for the blessing of Allah. It is well known that ingratitude for the blessing of Allah is minor kufr. But if a person believes that the stars are controlling the universe and they are the ones that cause the rain to fall, then this is major shirk.
Minor shirk may sometimes take the form of outward actions, such as wearing talismans, strings, amulets and the like, and other words and deeds. And sometimes it may be hidden, like a little bit of showing off.
It may also take the form of beliefs: Such as the belief that something may be a cause of bringing benefit or warding off harm, when Allah has not made it so; or believing that there is barakah (blessing) in a thing, when Allah has not made it so.
It sometimes takes the form of words: Such as when they said, “We have been given rain by such and such a star,” without believing that that the stars could independently cause rain to fall; or swearing by something other than Allah, without believing in venerating the thing sworn by or regarding it as equal with Allah; or saying, “Whatever Allah wills and you will,” and so on.
It sometimes takes the form of actions: Such as hanging up amulets or wearing a talisman or string to dispel or ward off calamity, because everyone who attribute powers to a thing when Allah has not made it so either according to sharee’ah or according to the laws of the universe, has associated something with Allah. This also applies to one who touches a thing seeking its barakah (blessing), when Allah has not created any barakah in it, such as kissing the doors of the mosques, touching their thresholds, seeking healing from their dust, and other such actions.
This is a brief look at the division of shirk into major and minor. We cannot go into great detail in this short answer.
Conclusion: What the Muslim must do is to avoid shirk in both its minor and major forms. The greatest sin is shirk and transgression against the unique rights of Allah, which are to be worshipped and obeyed alone, with no partner or associate.
Hence Allah has decreed that the mushrikeen will abide forever in Hell and has told us that He will not forgive them, and He has forbidden Paradise to them, as He says (interpretation of the meaning):
“Verily, Allah forgives not that partners should be set up with Him (in worship), but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He wills; and whoever sets up partners with Allah in worship, he has indeed invented a tremendous sin” [al-Nisa’ 4:48]
“Verily, whosoever sets up partners (in worship) with Allah, then Allah has forbidden Paradise to him, and the Fire will be his abode. And for the Zaalimoon (polytheists and wrongdoers) there are no helpers” [al-Maa'idah 5:72]
Every wise and religiously-committed person should fear shirk for himself and should turn to his Lord, asking Him to help him avoid shirk, as al-Khaleel [Ibraaheem – peace be upon him] said:
“and keep me and my sons away from worshiping idols” [Ibraaheem 14:35 – interpretation of the meaning]
One of the salaf said: “Who can claim to be safe from this after Ibraaheem?”
So the sincere believer’s fear of shirk should increase as should his desire for his for his Lord to keep him away from it, and he should say the great du’aa’ which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) taught to his companions when he said to them: “Shirk among you will be more subtle than the footsteps of an ant, but I will teach you something which, if you do it, both minor and major shirk will be kept away from you. Say: Allahumma inni a’oodhu bika an ushrika bika wa ana a’lam wa astaghfiruka lima la a’lam (O Allah, I seek refuge with You from associating anything with You knowingly, and I seek Your forgiveness for that of which I am unaware).” Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’, 3731
The above refers to the difference between major and minor shirk, defining each and describing its types.
With regard to the difference between them as far as the ruling is concerned:
Major shirk puts a person beyond the pale of Islam, so the one who does that is judged to be out of Islam and to have apostatized therefrom, so he is a kaafir and an apostate.
Minor shirk does not put a person beyond the pale of Islam, rather it may be done by a Muslim but he still remains in Islam; but the one who does that is in great danger because minor shirk is a major sin. Ibn Mas’ood (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “If I were to swear by Allah falsely, that is better for me than if I were to swear by something other than Him sincerely.” So he regarded swearing by something other than Allah (which is minor shirk) as being worse than swearing by Allah falsely, and it is well known that swearing by Allah falsely is a major sin.
We ask Allah to make our hearts steadfast in adhering to His religion until we meet Him, and we seek refuge in His Might – may He be glorified – from going astray, for He is the Ever-Living Who never dies, but the jinn and mankind will die. And Allah knows best and is most wise, and to Him is the final return of all.

huptin: Hahhhhaha, Christiandom dull human beings.. This is so delusional, without christendom you will still be living in huts, no development whatever.
Islam has contributed nothing, absolutely nothing to human development. All you moslems do invade already developed or developing countries, destroy them but claim that Islam is the basis for their development.
e.g Egypt, Persia(now Iran) Babylon (Iraq) these were world empires who laid the foundation for today's civilization but Islam touched them and they are now totally and absolutely useless, thank God the romans were not stupid enough to allow any vestige of Islam to touch them.
Even here in Nigeria, look at the once mighty Hausa empire- look at what they are today.
99% of today's invention, including that dynamite that moslems terrorists like to use and blow themselves to smithereens in hope of some phantom 77 virgins are manufactured by Christians.
Kiss the truth if all moslems decide to leave the earth for mars today, Earth will become peaceful and progressive while Mars will turn useless within weeks. Watch Afghanistan for example, in the next few weeks it will turn to another Somalia.
Pray for islam, pray for your fellow Moslems many of them will go to bed today without food in their belly, clothes on their back and shelter on their head. Why christians are so hypocritical & judgmental? I don't even think you are in ur right sense, so, now it's only Muslims that goes on their empty bellies may be in ur village. U most be a Dumbass! |

*CHRISTIAN DOCTORS IN SAUDI ARABIA*
Now that Nigerian Christian medical doctors are desperately seeking career asylum in Saudi Arabia, a neo-conservative Sharia State, I wonder what could be the reaction of their Apex body, the Christian Association of Nigeria.
The truth is that Nigerian Christians are very shameless, especially on issues pertaining to money making. The entire creed of that faith is built on voluptuous materialism and luxury of prosperity. I have no regret for always asserting that pentacostalism is a huge scam!
I thank Allah for not making my parents amongst the Christians, otherwise I would have probably grown up as greedy and foolish as every John and Michael who runs to Saudi Arabia in a desperate search for a greener pasture. Let's thank Allah that we are Muslims.
Nigerian Christians, especially in the South, bark and tremble at the sight of any Islamic identity. To them, a Muslim's adorning hijab is Islamization; non interest banking is Islamization; a conscious Muslim as the CEO is Islamization, etc. Infact, Islamic identity is the aching tragedy for many Christians.
Now that they are begging for jobs in Saudi Arabia, the foremost home of Islamic identity, where the best of mankind was birthed, the super home of Shari'a in action, where the females are honourably concealed in deep dark purdah, how will Christians cope with this cultural beauty?
It's high time we stopped taking Christian leaders serious in this country. It's now clear that whenever a Christian bark, he's only crying for survival. The entire faith-system is a fraud! I do not regret what I write on this. If you so wish, you may choose to report me to Zuckerberg that I insulted you.
I have been looking for a way out of this platform, so I lose nothing with Zuckerberg's action. You may also stop talking to me at work. You may as well choose not to do business with me again. Allah's is the glory, I don't have a single Christian in my extended family!
As for those of us who always run abroad, including Saudi Arabia, for medicals, it's now clear that those at home are no different from those abroad. We should appreciate the value of our health workers at home. We should learn to trust the surgeons, nurses and pharmacists working at home.

AntiChristian: Sahih Ahadith are as reliable as the Qur'an cos they were all transmitted by the Companions of the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa salam.
You will have to meet those scholars that understands to explain your doubts to you.
Once you have it in your mind that the Ahadith are doubtful then know that you'll soon disbelieve in the Qur'an too as Allah refers to the Ahadith by saying in many places "Obey Allah and His messenger" i.e. we obey Allah by following the Qur'an and we obey the Messenger by following his examples.
Allah says: Indeed in the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad SAW) you have a good example to follow for him who hopes in (the Meeting with) Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah much. (Qur'an 33:21)
The Ahadith are the records of his examples. So casting aspersions on them is also doing same on the Qur'an.
Sometimes the Qur'an gives the complete ruling and sometimes the hadith gives the complete ruling. At other times the ahadith explains the Qur'an and the Qur'an can also explain the ahadith. The Qur'an and Sunnah are what the Prophet left behind.
And there's no contradiction between an hadith and the Qur'an as the Prophet practice the Qur'an while alive. Jazzakallau kair brother, you have already explained extensively if he cares to listen. May Allah keep us steadfast on Deenul Islam and Sunnah. |
