Below are some of the Quran verses that affirm tolerance and forbid unjust killings toward non-Muslims.

“[w]hoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one is as if he had saved mankind entirely.”
(Suratul Maidah verse 32)

“And do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden [to be killed] except by [legal] right. This has He instructed you that you may use reason."
(Suratul An'am verse 151)

“There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion. The right course has become clear from the wrong.”
(Suratul Baqorah)

“And if they incline to peace, then incline to it [also] and rely upon Allah. Indeed, it is He who is the Hearing, the Knowing.”
(Suratul Al-Anfal verse 61)

“O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm for Allah, witnesses in justice, and do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just; that is nearer to righteousness. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what you do.”
(Suratul Maidah verse 8 )

“Indeed, those who have believed [in Prophet Muhammad] and those [before Him] who were Jews or Sabeans or Christians - those [among them] who believed in Allah and the Last Day and did righteousness - no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve.”
(Suratul Maidah verse 69)

Also, the 14th, 15th and 16th of May, 2022 are equivalently Ayaamul al beed (white days) when fasting is recommended. Will a person get double rewards if he combines three of the six days of Shawwal with the Ayyam al-Beed?

I assume we know about the reward of fasting six days of Shawwaal after Ramadan with reward equivalent to fasting a whole year. You can read more here:

https://www.nairaland.com/7112727/fasting-six-days-shawwaal-after#112565692

What about people who missed some fasts during Ramadan? Are they going to fast the six first or the missed fasts?

If they want to earn the reward mentioned in the hadeeth of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), “Whoever fasts Ramadaan then follows it with six days of Shawwaal, it will be as if he fasted for a lifetime”

(reported by Muslim, no. 1984), then they should complete thier Ramadaan fasts first, then follow it with six days of Shawwaal, so that the hadeeth with be applicable to them too, and they will gain the reward mentioned in it.

And Allah knows best

Lukgaf:
Delaying having children in order to be able to study - Shayk (Dr) Sharaffudeen Gbadebo Raji

Question
If a brother and a sister are legally married but do not wish to bear children (at the moment), how can they go about it?

Answer
Dr Sharof: Why is it that they do not want to have children?

The Congregation: Because of their studies.

Dr Sharof: We seek refuge with Allaah! They should start bearing children with immediate effect. They should stop deceiving themselves. If they continue that way, Allaah may decide to delay them whenever they are ready to start bearing children. Such thing had happened to (many) people; they suffer unnecessary delay at the time they decide to start bearing children. There are situations whereby the brother may be ready to start bearing children, but the sister may say her career will be ruined. They target times when the sister will be on leave or when she will be on holidays for those who are still schooling before she gets pregnant, so that she gives birth during these periods. However, in this case, their decision is to restrain from it because of the sister’s career. The harm with this is that they will have to bite the bullet, especially the sister. Men have a lot of options; if he discovers that you have a problem (with bearing children) he can easily marry a new wife. Na’am!

As for their question regarding what they could do to avoid bearing children, there is no answer to such question. They should start bearing children. Na’am!

IslamRe: Suggested Time-table And Routine For Ramadan by Techreliance(m): 2:07pm On Apr 08, 2022
Lukgaf:
In sha Allah, Ramadan is starting tomorrow or Sunday. May Allah count us among those that will witness the glorious month in peace, wealth and sound health (Ameen). Part of the preparation towards the glorious month is to highlight good deeds that could be done in advance of the month with the aim of drawing maximum benefits from Allah. In essence, it is recommended to set a routine or timetable.

Below presentation adapted from Darul Ihsan offers a practical and suggested routine that one may adopt during Ramadan. This guide is to help one fetch greater reward in the month

N.B: This is however just a suggestion. You may plan your time personally or independently of the above. The aim is only to fetch maximum rewards during the month
1. Eat Sohur

Partake in the early morning meal (Sohur). This is a Sunnah practice that contains abundant blessings and rewards. The Prophet (May peace be upon him) said, "Eat Suhor, because in it, lies great blessings" (Bukhari, Muslim).

2. Observe Tahajjud

Plan your time in such a way that you are able to perform 4-8 Rakahs of Tahajjud and make Dua during this time. The Prophet (May peace be upon him) said "The Dua in the darkness of the night (after performing Tahajjud) is readily accepted by Allah" (Tirmdhi).

3. Observe Fajr

Perform Fajr Salah with congregation at the Masjid and recite morning Adhkars. Participate in the lesson or talks conducted in the Masjid with the intention to seek beneficial knowledge and practice. Engage in Dhikr till sunrise.

4. Perform Ishraq

Avoid sleeping immediately after fajr and engage in Quran recitation. Perform 4 Rakahs Ishraq after sunsine. One may then sleep thereafter.

5. Sunnah of Duha and Zawwal

When the sun is brightly up, perform 4 Rakahs Duha and after Zawwal, perform 4 Rakahs Sunnah of Zawwal

6. Dua at the time of Zawwal

Take a few moments to make dua at the time of Zawwal as this is also recorded as a time of acceptance.

7. Observe Zuhr

Perform Zuhr in congregation. If possible, allocate few minutes to engage in Quran recitation. Participate in any educational program taking place (like Tafseer). Have a short rest with the intention of the afternoon sleep which is Sunnah (Islam is beautiful).

8. Observe Asr

Perform Asr in congregation. The time between between Asr and Magrib is very valuable especially for recitation of Quran. If possible, remain in the the Masjid till Magrib. The time close to iftar is a time when duas are accepted. Attend Tafseer. Sisters should you use this time to prepare what we are going to eat in Iftor grin.

9. Observe Magrib

Observe Magrib in congregation. Before or after meals, read from virtues of Ramadan or other useful literature. Prepare for Ishai and Tarawiyy.

10. Observe Ishai

Make sure you perform Ishai and Tarawiyy in congregation.

11. After Tarawiyy

Avoid wasting time and hanging out with friends e.t.c. Read your Quran.

Darul ihsan

IslamRe: Is Fasting In The Month Of Rajab Recommended? Like 27th Of Rajab? by Techreliance(m): 3:28pm On Feb 18, 2022
Lukgaf:
Do you know Rajab is one of the four sacred months we have in Islam?

How about fasting in it?

Is fasting recommended?

Below from IslamQA, I present some issues concerning the sacred month of Rajab and whether it is recommended to fast some of its days.

Rajab: A sacred month
The month of Rajab is one of the sacred months of which Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Verily, the number of months with Allah is twelve months (in a year), so was it ordained by Allah on the Day when He created the heavens and the earth; of them four are Sacred (i.e. the 1st, the 7th, the 11th and the 12th months of the Islamic calendar). That is the right religion, so wrong not yourselves therein.” [al-Tawbah 9:36]

What are the sacred months?

The sacred months are: Rajab, Dhu’l-Qa’dah, Dhu’l-Hijjah and al-Muharram.

Al-Bukhari (4662) and Muslim (1679) narrated from Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The year is twelve months, of which four are sacred: three consecutive months, Dhu’l-Qa’dah, Dhu’l-Hijjah and al-Muharram, and Rajab Mudar which comes between Jumada and Sha’ban.

Why are the sacred months given this name?

These months are called sacred for two reasons:

Because fighting therein is forbidden unless initiated by the enemy
Because transgression of the sacred limits therein is worse than at other times.
Hence Allah has forbidden us to commit sins during these months, as He says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Wrong not yourselves therein.” [al-Tawbah 9:36]

Although committing sins is haram and forbidden during these months and at other times, in these months it is more forbidden.

Al-Sa’di (may Allah have mercy on him) said (p. 373):

In the phrase “wrong not yourselves therein”, the pronoun may be understood as referring to twelve months. Allah states that He has made them a measure of time for His slaves, which they may use for worshipping Him, and thank Allah for His blessings, and they serve the interests of His slaves, so beware of wronging yourselves therein.

The pronoun may also be understood as referring to the four sacred months, and this forbids them to wrong themselves in those months in particular, as well as it being forbidden to do wrong at all times, because it is more forbidden at this time, but it is worse at this time than at others. End quote.

Any hadith about fasting in Rajab?
With regard to fasting in the month of Rajab, there is no sahih hadith to indicate that there is any special virtue in fasting all or part of this month.

What some people do, singling out some days of Rajab for fasting, believing that they are better than others, has no basis in shari’ah.

But there is a report from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) which indicates that it is mustahabb to fast during the sacred months (and Rajab is one of the sacred months).

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Fast some days of the sacred months and not others.” Narrated by Abu Dawud, 2428; classed as da’if by al-Albani in Da’if Abi Dawud.

Even if this hadith were sahih, it indicates that it is mustahabb to fast during the sacred months. So if a person fasts during Rajab because of this, and he also fasts in the other sacred months, there is nothing wrong with that. But singling out Rajab for fasting is not right.

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said in Majmu’ al-Fatawa (25/290):

“As for fasting in Rajab in particular, the ahadith concerning that are all da’if (weak), and in fact mawdu’ (fabricated). The scholars do not rely on any of them. They are not among the da’if ahadith which have been narrated concerning virtues, rather most of them are fabricated and false. In al-Musnad and elsewhere there is a hadith which says that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) enjoined fasting the sacred months, namely Rajab, Dhu’l-Qa’dah, Dhu’l-Hijjah and Muharram, but this has to do with fasting during all of them, not just Rajab.”

Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

“Every hadith which mentions fasting in Rajab and praying during some of its nights is false and fabricated.” (Al-Manar al-Munif, p. 96)

Al-Hafiz ibn Hajar said in Tabyin al-‘Ajab (p. 11)

“There is no sahih hadith that would count as evidence which speaks of the virtue of the month of Rajab, or that speaks of fasting this month or part of it, or of spending any particular night of it in prayer.”

Shaykh Sayyid Sabiq (may Allah have mercy on him) said in Fiqh al-Sunnah (1/282):

“Fasting in Rajab is no better than fasting in any other month, except that it is one of the sacred months. There is no report in the sahih Sunnah to suggest that there is anything special about fasting in this month. Whatever has been narrated concerning that is not fit to be quoted as evidence.”

Fasting on 27 th Rajab: Any merits?
Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymin (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked about fasting on the twenty-seventh of Rajab and spending that night in prayer. He replied:

“Fasting on the twenty-seventh of Rajab and spending that night in prayer is a bid’ah (innovation), and every bid’ah is a going astray.” (Majmu’ Fatawa Ibn ‘Uthaymin, 20/440)

IslamRe: Why A Muslim Should Not Celebrate Valentine? by Techreliance(m): 2:40pm On Feb 11, 2022
Lukgaf:
What is Valentine?

Valentine’s Day is a jaahili Roman festival, which continued to be celebrated until after the Romans became Christian. This festival became connected with the saint known as Valentine who was sentenced to death on 14 February 270 CE. Some non-Muslims (including some Muslims) still celebrate this festival, during which immorality and evil are practised widely. Ina Lilah was ina ilae rojiun!

Listen, as a Muslim reading this, it is not permissible for a Muslim to celebrate any of the festivals of the kuffaar, because festivals come under the heading of shar’i issues which are to be based on the sound texts.

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: Festivals are part of sharee’ah, clear way and rituals of which Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“To each among you, We have prescribed a law and a clear way”

[Al-Quran al-Maa’idah 5:48]

In essence, Muslims should not do any of their rituals at the time of their festivals; rather the day of their festival should be like any other day for the Muslims. The Muslims should not do anything specific in imitation of them. ( Majmoo al-Fataawa (25/329). )

Also, many scholars have issued fatawah stating that it is haraam to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Among them is our noble Sheikh:

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) who was asked:

In recent times the celebration of Valentine’s Day has become widespread, especially among female students. It is a Christian festival where people dress completely in red, including clothes and shoes, and they exchange red flowers. We hope that you can explain the ruling on celebrating this festival, and what your advice is to Muslims with regard to such matters; may Allaah bless you and take care of you.

He replied:

Celebrating Valentine’s Day is not permissible for a number of reasons.

1- It is an innovated festival for which there is no basis in Islam.

2- It promotes love and infatuation.

3- It calls for hearts to be preoccupied with foolish matters that are contrary to the way of the righteous salaf (may Allaah be pleased with them).

It is not permissible on this day to do any of the things that are characteristic of this festival, whether that has to do with food, drinks, clothing, exchanging gifts or anything else.

The Muslim should be proud of his religion and should not be a weak character who follows every Tom, Dick and Harry. I ask Allaah to protect the Muslims from all temptations, visible and invisible, and to protect us and guide us.

End quote from Majmoo’ Fataawa al-Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (16/199)

As a Muslim, when you have a problem, you don't need to run to a priest or Alfa for a solution. For every problem you have, there are solutions in the Quran and Sunnah.

He said, “O Messenger of Allah, I am compelled by anxiety and debts.”

The Prophet said, “Shall I not teach you a word to say by which Allah Almighty will relive your worry and complete your debt?”

He said, “Of course, O Messenger of Allah.”

The Prophet said, “Say in the morning and evening:

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ الْهَمِّ وَالْحَزَنِ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ الْعَجْزِ وَالْكَسَلِ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ الْجُبْنِ وَالْبُخْلِ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ غَلَبَةِ الدَّيْنِ وَقَهْرِ الرِّجَالِ

IslamRe: Another Look At The Critics Of The Punishment Of Fornication/adultery In Islam by Techreliance(m): 9:59am On Jan 21, 2022
Rashduct4luv:
I have seen people criticise Islam's strict punishment for fornication and adultery. Why flog someone for simply having pleasure? Why give the death penalty for someone who desecrated the marital instutution. It is barbaric and outdated they say.

●You must realise that one of the hindsight of unrestricted hedonism (pursuit of pleasure) is that when viewed from an individual perspective it sounds harmless. Sex is pleasurable. Engaging in it brings a lot of satisfaction to the one who engages in it. However the singular act of seeking pleasure can put an entire community at the risk of infection. Imagine a community of 100 persons all free of STIs like Syphilis and HIV. Then someone travels out, contracts the infection and when he comes back has sex with just one other member of the community infecting her. She then in turn infects another who infects another...till it becomes widespread in the community. So the hedonist says why punish someone for seeking pleasure, and the moralists say well, we can't let you put the community at risk while seeking pleasure. Imagine if there was a way to prevent him from spreading that infection ab initio?

●You may now wonder, why different punishments for the fornicator and the adulterer? If an unmarried man contracts an STI. He is only likely to infect guilty persons who offer themselves for sex whilst being unmarried. If STIs could be restricted to only those who fornicate, trust me, many persons would not have worried about it. But then imagine a married man with 4 wives, who still goes out to have illicit sex. He doesn't just put himself at risk, but 4 innocent women. In some kinds of STIs like HIV, the lives of his unborn children and even the children at home may also be put at risk. Islam fights against injustice, as it is rather preferred that a guilty person is mistakenly acquited, than an innocent person mistakenly convicted. Would it not be better to take the life of one guilty person to save the lives of many other innocent persons? Its like having to take a decision between someone with a time bomb strapped to his chest, that can not be defused, walking into a mall filled with people. Obviously shooting him down is the wiser thing to do, to protect the lives of others in the mall.
●Islam takes no pleasure in killing anybody. Look at the conditions that has to be met before guilt of fornication and adultery is established. 4 witnesses have to be presented who saw the actual process of the man's genitals going into the woman's. Even in today’s world where sex is now nearly a norm on the streets, this is a condition that is still very difficult to establish. That is why the commonest way to establish the guilt of fornication and adultery is self confession. Punishments are meant to serve as deterrents rather than being vindictive. Even where it doesn't completely prevent people from engaging in it (because people will always find a way to beat the law) it at least ensures evil doesn't become an acceptable norm that is confidently discussed in public.

●Lastly, Imagine if that your cheating husband knows he risks losing his life at the expense of an orgasm or two, will that not serve as sufficient scare to force him to be faithful? This will have been sufficient to curtail the spread of STIs and protect marital institutions. Allāh mandates that the punishment of the fornicator and the adulterer be done in public (و اليشهد عذابهما طاءفة من المؤمنين). This is so that if you are about send that "I am bored, can you come over" message to her, and you remember how your friend was flogged in public, even the erection you are having will die a natural death. Today people bring all sorts of argument in the defence of the guilty, rather than seek the protection of the innocent from the evils of criminals and those with immoral inclinations. Then you appreciate more the wisdom in Allāh's statement

و لا تأخذكم بهما رأفة في دين الله
Let not pity withhold you in their case, in a punishment prescribed by Allah (Q 24:2).
If I know I have no intention of becoming a kidnapper, why should I be sympathetic to kidnappers so much as to worry about whatever punishment is prescribed for them, especially if that punishment come from the law giver Himself. That's why I am convinced that whoever you see or hear having any problem with this punishment, from among the Muslims, is either a fornicator, and adulterer, or someone who intends to become one.

May Allāh grant us the ability to protect our chastity.

IslamRe: Why Muslims do not celebrate non-muslim festivals? by Techreliance(m): 9:18pm On Dec 31, 2021
Lukgaf:
No doubt, we have friends, teachers and colleagues among non-Muslims. We engage and collaborate when it comes to worldly affairs. We congratulate them on their success. We have a lot of non-Muslim teachers we respect a lot - we benefitted a lot from them in terms of knowledge and experience. We do not sever our relationship with them.

In essence, Islam enjoys being good to all the creatures of Allah, whether a Muslim or non-Muslims (including the animals).

But when it comes to the issue of religion and beliefs, Muslims are encouraged not to compromise. In Islam (as it is available in other religions/beliefs), there are red lines we shouldn't cross (which are things we are prohibited from doing) and one of them is celebrating any festival (not only non-Muslim festival) not recognized in Islam. This is not limited to non-Muslim festivals but other innovated festivals in Islam, such as Mawlud Nabiyy, Islamic Calendar, etc (you see I have made some threads condemning these too).

Based on the above premise, the below thread gives an account of what Islam says about non-Muslims festivals and why Muslims should not partake in them.

If you are a non-Muslim reading this and you have friends who do not send you wishes during the festival, I hope you will understand this and not think your friends do not care about you. Also, I hope you won't tag those Muslims as extremists and bigot because of this.

quadraheem:
FORNICATING WITH A MARRIED WOMAN

Whoever fornicates with a married woman will be punished in the grave with half the punishment of the people of the world.
On the day of judgement, Allah will repay her husband from his (the fornicator's) good deeds; provided he doesn't know about it.

If he knows about it but keeps mute, Allah shall prohibit him from Jannah, for He, exalted is he, has written on the door of Jannah: 'The ```dayyuth``` shall not enter you'. The dayyuth is he that knows of the misdeed of his family but keeps mute and is unconcerned.
It has also been reported that:

- Whoever touches a lady unlawful for him will be raised on the day of judgement with his hand tied to his neck.
- If he kisses her, his lips will be corroded in hell
- If he fornicates with her, his thighs will will talk and testify against him on the day of accountability, saying; 'I have been made to touch the unlawful!'
And his hands will say: I have been made to touch the unlawful
And his eyes will say: I have been used to see the unlawful
And his legs will say: I have been used to walk towards prohibition
And his privates will say: I have done the prohibited!
And the guardian Angel shall testify, saying; Yes, I have heard!
The writing Angel will say: And I have written!
Then, Allah, exalted is he, shall say; And I saw but hid.
Then He will say, Oh my Angels, take him and give him from my punishment. My punishment shall be tough on he that isn't ashamed of me.

Do not forget
You may wear your wristwatch and will not be removed but by your family member.
You may close your car's door but it shall be opened by an ambulance operator.
You may button up cloth but will be opened by he that washes the dead.
You may close your eyes on your bed in the comfort of your room and not open it except before the All mighty, the Almighty, on the day of encompass.

So, always be of good conduct and deeds.

After reading this, say Astaghfirullahal Adheem rabbal 'arshil adhim.

May Allah continue to strengthen us all and Forgives us all..

Aameen

IslamRe: What Is The Ruling Concerning A Husband Calling His Wife "Ummuh" ? by Techreliance(m): 11:08am On Dec 17, 2021
Lukgaf:
Dr. Faadhil: I do not know why the questioner asked this question, but perhaps he thinks that a man addressing his wife as "Ummu" means that he has called her his mum; and whoever addresses his wife as his mum has made a big mistake because it resembles divorce. And since it is not permitted for a husband to address his wife as "my mum", this person may think that addressing one's wife as "Ummu" is the same as addressing her as "my mum".

On a closer look, it doesn't mean the husband refers to his wife as his mum, but rather - as with the majority of the people that address their wives as "Ummu" - he only shortens the name; for example, if she is "Ummu Abdillah" and he doesn't wish to call that in full, he says "Ummu" while intending it as "Ummu Abdillah".

A husband addressing his wife as "my mum" is one of the assumed means of divorce, but it is not divorce. However, as Muslims, we are to stay away from doubtful issues as much as possible.

That said, it is not dignifying enough for husbands to address their wives with names that don't depict love; some of such names are Ummu, Abu and so on. The prophet (may the peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) didn't address any of his wives as "Ummu" although he used to say Ummu so and so.

We can address our wives by their names, like calling the person bearing Aaishah as "Aaish".

So, there is no problem in addressing one's wife as "Ummu", but it is dignifying enough as it may not foster love. Wives can also address their husbands by their names ones in a while, but it shouldn't be in public; just between them. When in public, they can address their husbands with the names that people address them with or their nicknames or simple "my husband".

We don't appreciate this in Yoruba land, which is not supposed to be like that. Some husbands address their wives as "the mother of my children" which is wrong because the term is used for slave.

As for the question, two things should be noted. The first is that a husband addressing his wife "Ummu" doesn't mean his wife has become haram for him. The second is that couples should address each other with names that will foster and strengthen love between them.
May Allah guide us to the right path.
