Odingo1: The Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, has said in a new video that he is tired of the calamity befalling his group.
“I am tired of this calamity; it is better I die and go to rest in paradise”, he said at the end of the 10-minute video.
In the video, delivered chiefly in Hausa, Mr. Shekau couldn’t hide his frustration on the continued hostility and loss of his supporters to government troops.
With a broken voice that clearly betrayed his emotion, Mr. Shekau pleaded with his non-combatant members across Nigeria to pick up arms and help him fight till he drops dead.
The terror group’s leader, however, remained defiant.
Flanked by two hooded armed men, Mr. Shekau said the latest claim by the military that the group had been sent packing from Sambisa forest was false.
He boasted that he is still in Sambisa forest and still controls the territory.
He said that his men would continue to fight regardless of the recent induction of Cameroonian soldiers into the Operation Lafiya Dole counter insurgency force.
Below is the full text of the translated speech by the Boko Haram leader.
“I have no lengthy message to deliver except on the issue of worshiping God alone and serving Him without getting tired. Ours in not like that of the unbelievers whose worship is like the spider web. Just like one of the leaders of unbelievers, who is like an ape, was recently boasting that they have formed a joint force with Cameroonian forces to fight us.
“That they would not only chase us from Sambisa forest but also in all parts of Nigeria. So we too have declared that we do not want to see any Nigerian in Cameroon, in Chad, in Nigeria and even Benin Republic. So I call on our brethren in Abuja, in Lagos, in Benin, in Kaduna, where ever you find any Nigerian make sure you shoot him dead if he is deliberately against us; but if he is ignorant of our ways, teach him on how to understand our ways. This is our first message.
“It is not about approaching you, because that has already been done by our God.
“Our second message is to attack anyone who pledge to Nigerian his country, to be faithful, loyal and honest, and serve Nigeria. Anyone who believes in protecting the interest of Nigeria is our target. The one whose creed is to develop western education where infidels are trained is our enemy. Whoever that stands on any creed other than that of our Prophet Muhammad brought to us; the one that his great disciples followed, should know that he is our avowed enemy and if he confronts us we will fight him.
“In this job that we embarked upon, we are not going to boast too much about, but we pray that God should take our lives while on this struggle and not on any other thing else. May God help us on this belief.
“So you Nigerians especially the youth vigilante, we are going to fight you and that thing that drives you to pick up arms against us; we don’t care what they call you, be it Civilian-JTF or any kind of force. Just as you said you don’t want us on the face of Nigeria, so shall we too declare you persona non grata in Sambisa. Let anyone who has brains to think to avoid moving around Sambisa forest. Those of you the leaders of the troops will no longer have peace just like the way you think you have made here uncomfortable for us.
“And you General Rogers that is currently leading the troops and boasting that that you have take-over Sambisa and have rescued some women, why have you not rescued the police women that we abducted? You liar, why couldn’t you rescue them? You are busy deceiving with images of vehicles that we seized from you and abandoned for over three years and claiming that you have killed us. If you have killed us, why are we still alive?
“Oh you brethren of our holy creed, wherever you are, should rise up and fight for Allah. If you cannot do it there, then come over to our side and fight for the cause of Allah. You must know that whoever that fails to follow the teaching of the Holy Quran and Hadith cannot enter paradise. (In broken voice) Because the pattern of life in the world today is not Islamic. Wherever you are, even if you are in Saudi Arabia, and you have your gun, please stand up and fight, kill whoever you see that is not on our side.
Kidnap and bring them to us. Our course is to establish our caliphate and die doing that.
We may not be alive to see the caliphate but even if it comes to be after we have died, it is still a bonus on our side.

Former Chelsea assistant coach, Ray Wilkins, has blamed the club’s former Technical Director, Michael Emenalo, for the club’s current poor form.
According to him, manager, Antonio Conte, is paying for the mistakes of Emenalo.
Reports in the British media claim that Conte is on the brink of being sacked following back-to-back defeats against Bournemouth and Watford.
Wilkins described their performance as ‘inept’ and ‘abysmal’ but added that the Italian’s troubles are not of his own making.
Wilkins is also baffled that Conte hasn’t been given more control in the transfer market.
He told talkSports, “I don’t know. If you’re paying a man as much as Chelsea are paying Conte, his knowledge is far superior to someone like Michael Emenalo, who they brought in to do that job.

“The squad is weaker this season than the one that won the league last year. No Diego Costa, no Nemanja Matic – it’s been a massive blow to Conte.”
Costa and Matic were both key members of Conte’s Premier League title-winning team, and both were allowed to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer.
They were replaced by Spanish striker, Alvaro Morata and French midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko, who has struggled to settle at the club and was sent off just 30 minutes into the defeat to Watford on Monday.
Former Nigeria international, Emenalo, was supposedly the man behind those deals in the summer.
Wilkins added that 23-year-old Bakayoko, a £40million signing from Monaco, in particular, is not ready for the Premier League and says many of Chelsea’s downfalls this season have been down to poor recruitment.
Asked by Alan Brazil if Conte is now paying for Emenalo’s mistakes in the market, the former Blues skipper added: “I believe so, yeah.

Ebullience: President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to lead the consultation, reconciliation and confidence building efforts toward improving cohesion within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The information is in a two-paragraph statement issued by Malam Garba Shehu, the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity in Abuja on Tuesday.
According to the presidential aide, the assignment will involve resolving disagreements among party members, party leadership and political office holders in some states of the federation.
The News men reliably gathered that the Kano State APC crisis involving supporters of former Gov. Rabiu Kwakwanso and the serving Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, is one of the tasks of the Tinubu reconciliation committee.
It would be recalled that the Presidency on Jan. 29 summoned Gov. Ganduje and Kwakwanso over the aborted Jan. 30 visit of the former governor to Kano to avert breakdown of law and order in the state.
The governor, accompanied by two serving senators and two members of House of Representatives from the state met with the Chief of Staff to the President, Malam Abba Kyari at the Presidential Villa.
Ganduje, however, declined to speak to State House correspondents after the closed door meeting.
The Tinubu committee is also expected to reconcile other APC members in Kaduna, Zamfara, Oyo, Kogi and other states of the federation.

The main issue to me in all these is that an Hnd holder is not even employed as a lecturer in the polytechnic. The employ them as instructors. Nontheless you have made good points. You only pointed out some of the advantages that polytechnic education has over university education and your points are correct but the comments here makes it look as if what you said was that polytechnic education is better than university education.

Quick certificate : within 2 years, you can also be among the working class and some have succeeded with their National diploma ND certificate You don’t have to study for 5 years before you start earning salary with your certificate and this has been very helpful, especially for those who have financial issues.
3. Change of study and environment: Yes, this is another benefit of polytechnic education. You can decide to change your course of study after your national diploma if there any reason to do so. Moreso, you can run a national diploma programme in Lagos and continue your HND in another polytechnic in any part of Nigeria. You can also go further to study in the university in any prefer state.
4. Easy admission: Easily as it sound, polytechnic admission is less competitive. There are some individual who have been running after university for over 5 to 6 year without any breakthrough. 5. Job opportunity: presently now, some job are design only for national diploma holder and Hnd holder and as such, there will be lesser competition for those with polytechnic Degree. 6. Equal Certificate: all things are been equal in the polytechnic…. all polytechnic result have the same value either private, northern, eastern or western polytechnic. However the Varsity certificate are not equal and federal university certificate is more valuable and wanted to any varsity certificate. Admission by Merits: Admission in some university is by power, money, connection, intelligence and many other factors. You may have to pay a some of money before you can be considered for admission in some university. However the polytechnic admission is by merit, candidate that perform excellently will be offered admission regardless of the course and the school. There is no room for Foul play in selection of candidate.

CastedDude: The Modibbo Adama University of Technology Yola (Mautech), Adamawa state - has been shut down indefinitely after a students’ riot broke out on Sunday. Students of the university were forced to vacate the campus after a student was killed and properties destroyed in the process.
According to media reports, the school confirmed one student had been killed after he was injured and was later taken to a hospital for treatment where he died.
Earlier reports said the crisis was caused by a student union government leadership tussle.
But the News Agency of Nigeria has quoted sources as denying that claim, saying instead the violence started following an alleged blasphemy of the Prophet Muhammad on WhatsApp coupled with the tension of the recent students’ union election.
The alleged blasphemy led to protests and calls for the school authority to take action.
A church was allegedly attacked, their music instruments were burnt and the worshippers scampered for safety.
Security personnel including DSS, police, and civil defence corps have been drafted to maintain vigilance in conjunction with the internal security apparatus of the university.

The President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore Socio-cultural Association, Bello Abdullahi Bodejo has warned that they will resist any attempt to remove President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.
Bodejo warned that Nobody should try and remove Buhari, adding that the eyes of the Fulani all over the country have 'opened'. Speaking to Sun, Bodejo said;
"Nobody should try to remove Buhari in 2019. All the Fulani in Nigeria today, our eyes are open. All of us are behind Buhari; we have seen that they want to destroy the Fulani because of Buhari.
We would not allow anybody to intimidate the Federal Government or to take Buhari’s mandate; we would be ready to follow him and fight it. We are ready to do anything to ensure that Buhari comes back to complete the good work he is doing. The people criticizing him are just few and nothing would affect his chances of coming back."
He also reacted to ex-president, Olusegun Obasanjo's letter to the president criticizing his performance. Bodejo said;
"President Obasanjo is respected in the country because he ruled Nigeria under the present democracy for eight years. As for the letter he wrote, he knows what he is doing. You know that Obasanjo is now a real politician. But to tell Buhari not to run in 2019, he does not have the power because he has only one vote like any other person. What I can assure you is that 87 percent of Nigerians are with Buhari in the race for 2019. Nobody would allow him to poison people’s mind. Those people in the Bush do not know whether Obasanjo asked Buhari not to run for re-election in 2019. I want to also commend some governors who are supporting the government. I thank the 16 governors who have already agreed to give space for the cattle colonies. Obasanjo tore his PDP card in 2015 but he cannot do that to the APC."
