The Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership, CACOL, has declared its support for President Muhammadu Buhari’s second term in office.

CACOL said among those jostling for the presidential stool, only President Buhari stands head high and is qualified to lead the nation.


Speaking with Sun, Debo Adeniran, Executive Chairman of the group, warned that Nigerians should desist from a campaign that could hinder governance.

He said, “Personally, I have not heard that he has launched his re-election campaign. I only hear speculations that he has appointed some people into his campaign committee. But I can tell you that among those parading themselves as willing candidates; President Buhari stands head and shoulders above them.

“If there had been a more credible alternative I would have preferred such. But if it is these breed of politicians or interlopers then I think Buhari is more credible than all of them. What we should caution against is that the campaigns should not hinder governance.

“Buhari has done the best any President can do. People say he is nepotistic, but if he wanted to be nepotistic or tribal, he would have released Dasuki long ago, he wouldn’t have touched anybody from the north.


“Then he went to his constituency, the military and dealt with those alleged to have committed acts of corruption, those of them who made it impossible for the war against Boko Haram to be totally won. He could have hit the ground running but because of the influence of the political class on him, which he cannot ignore. A lot of political intrigues didn’t allow them to move.”

Lagos Beams Attention On Tax Defaulters, ‘Sues’ AY And Davido
The Lagos State Government has focused its attention on high-profile tax defaulters in the state with the aim to ensure high level of compliance with its tax laws.


This is just as the state government has reportedly sued entertainers Davido and Ayo Makun, better known as AY, for tax evasion, as the duo are accused of evading tax despite high earnings from their business.



A court paper, seen by The Punch on Saturday, indicated that the state government had dragged the duo before the court for alleged tax evasion.


The news outlet disclosed that while Davido was charged before a Lagos high court in July 2017 and may risk a jail term if convicted AY was also charged to court in 2016 for failing to file his tax returns.

I knew it will get to this. When those sadled with the task of providing security are seen to be taking sides then the people will make some trouble. If not well handled religion will come into focus because Benue people are predominantly christians while the herdsmen are mainly muslims. What makes a good leader is the ability to nip the problems in the bud before the escalate further. Thank God the same party controls both the state and the federal and so the solution will not be politicised.

Do you remember Ifeanyi Dike, the guy who allegedly killed little Victory Chiksmso for rituals?

He "slumped" in court today when he was arraigned. He first made a loud noise the first time his charge was read to him. The charge was repeated the second time, third and by the  fourth time, he was on the floor.

His lawyer claimed he had mental problem. The presiding judge, Justice Adolphus Enebeli asked prison authority to take him to hospital for medical check.

This is the problem with our so called leaders. Barry White sang a song, practice what you preach. He campaigned against foreign treatment while seeking office but is doing virtually everything he campaigned against. They forget a lot of people are educated now and cant be deceived like before.

Another armed robbery and kidnap kingpin, who participated in the New Year attack in Omoku, Rivers State was on Thursday, been paraded at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The 32-year-old suspect, Desmond Okotubo, who is a father of three, hails from Egbenma in Unelga Local Government Area of Rivers State.

He told newsmen in Abuja that, “the arrest and humiliation of the mother of Don Waney , coupled with the destruction of Waney’s mansions was the main reason for the New Year attack in Omoku.”

He also revealed, “that the plan to invade Omoku was hatched in Owerri, Imo State,” adding that Omoku vigilante group members were their original targets and not church worshippers.

Okotubo further explained that their decision to vent their anger on the worshippers came when they could not track down the vigilante group members.

He said vigilante members were instrumental to the arrest of Don Waney’s mother and tracing of his mansions for destruction by government.
