PoliticsRe: Senate Warns Charly Boy, Protesters: "Leave Buhari Alone Immediately" by Tecno66: 9:24pm On Aug 09, 2017
So because he has handed over to Osinbajo, he can remain on medical vacation till 29 April, 2019? Kokoacaba?
stephanie11:
The Nigerian Senate has warned the 'Resume or Resign' protesters to leave president Buhari alone. The Senate cautioned sponsors and participants in the protests by a coalition of civil society organizations, operating under the aegis of #OurMumuDonDo and demanding for the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari over his medical vacation in the United Kingdom to stop heating up the polity with their unreasonable demands.

In a statement signed by its spokesman, Dr Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, the Senate said the protesters were only creating unnecessary tension in the country and seeking to divert the attention of the Presidency from the economic and security issues which are being tackled with vigour.

The Senate noted that President Buhari had complied with the provisions of the nation’s ground norm, the Constitution, which stipulated that he must hand over to the Vice President and duly inform the two chambers of the legislature about his medical vacation.

“The President has broken no law and therefore we do not see any justification for this diversion and noise making. The sponsors are merely seeking cheap publicity at the expense of the peace of Nigeria. We, in the National Assembly, are satisfied that there is no vacuum. The Federal Government is working. Acting President Yemi Osinbajo is providing the required leadership. So, there is no reason for the protests.

“All Nigerians now should focus on praying for the safe return of the President. We in the Senate are happy about the report by the Governors and party leaders who recently visited President Buhari in London and we know he will soon return to continue to provide leadership to our people and the rest of Africa.

“We, therefore, call on the protesters to stop all these demonstrations and let their sense of patriotism overshadow the zeal for activism by joining other Nigerians to pray for the President, the acting President and Nigeria as a country at this critical period”, Abdullahi stated.

These people are trully mad. Which northern interest? You guys voted for an old sick man because of northern interest inspite of the warning, now the problem has come up. What is being asked is simple. Let Buhari resume or resign if he is not well. Instead of joining hands to ask for the right to be done people are talking of northern interest. Perhaps if the man is completely paralized, they will want him to remain there as long as he is still breathing. I am not Igbo but I now see reason in NK's agitations. We cant continue like this.

See now, same scenerio is playing out but all of them keep quite. I like wetin Charly boy and co dey do. Make them know say no be everybody their medicine hold. I pray APC does not lead Nigeria to another civil war.
Godson333:
The Nigerian Police command in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja explained today why it broke the second day of protest by a group led by Charlyboy Oputa.

The group, which calls itself #Ourmumudondo had protested on Monday without hindrance by the police.

But as the police explained, the protesters allowed hoodlums to infiltrate their rank today.

Here is the police statement:

The FCT Police Command in the early hours of today 8th August, 2017 intervened and prevented breakdown of law and order, and disturbance of public peace in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja by dispersing some miscreants, hoodlums and other criminal elements that have infiltrated the protest being carried out by a group of concerned Nigerians under the auspices of Our-Mumu-Don-do Movement at Unity Fountain, Maitama, Abuja.

It will be recalled that “Our-Mumu-Don-do Movement” carried out their protest on Monday 7th August, 2017 at the same venue and were accorded necessary Police presence to safe guard public safety and public peace, and protect their rights to freedom of expression, rights to peaceful Assembly and Association, and right to freedom of movement as provided for in sections 39, 40, and 41 of the 1999 constitution as amended.

However, today 8th August, 2017 the same group assembled at the same venue but allowed miscreants, hoodlums and other unruly individuals to infiltrate the protests, who started blocking the major roads adjoining the Unity fountain, obstructing traffic and preventing movements of other innocent citizens from going to their means of livelihood, and thereby exhibiting unruly behaviours and other violent acts very likely to cause the breakdown of law and order and disturbance of public peace. The Police personnel intervened at the point that the concerned Nigerians Group lost control of the crowd and prevented miscreants, hoodlums and other criminal elements from hijacking the protest to cause mayhem and chaos.

It is pertinent to state here that the FCT Police command is fully aware and recognizes the constitutional rights of every citizen including “ Our Mumu Dondo group” to assemble and move freely in any part of the Federal Capital Territory, but the command will not allow any protest under any guise to turn violent and jeopardise the prevailing peace, law and order currently being enjoyed in the FCT. The command wishes to assure all residents and visitors to the territory of adequate security and protection of lives and property of everyone including those who choose to express their constitutional rights of protest with decorum.

Consequently, members of the public, parents and guardians, religious/opinion leaders and other interest groups are advised to prevail on their children and wards, followers and adherents not to allow themselves to be used by any group to cause disturbance of public peace and break down of law and order.

Except we are a nation without direction, I think we should focus on Atiku & Kwankwanso. Even if Buhari returns, I think he is too old, feeble and sickly to rule Nigeria at a crucial time like this. He may succeed in a country like Zimbabwe but not here because of the complexities. Boko haram, Ipob, Massob, militancy, kidnappings, armed robbery etc. Frankly, I think other aspirants will do better except we are a joke as a country. We are not talking about APC or PDP here but Nigeria and its future put in the hands of a detribalized nation builder.

dumebiifeanyi:
The All Progressives Congress Youth Vanguard has advised Musician and top socialite, Charlyboy to desist from calling for the resignation of President Buhari.

In a statement made available to PoliticsNGR, signed by its leader, Collins Edwin, the group disclosed that president Buhari will not resign from being president and cautioned Charly boy to stop making 'senseless noise'.

Below is the Full statement;

The planned protest against President Muhammadu Buhari by a coalition of civil society groups led by Charly Boy has come to the notice of the national leadership of APC Youths Renaissance.

Ordinarily, we would have dismissed the move knowing that Charly Boy is an incurable attention-seeker, but because he cleverly laced his mercantile show-business in President Buhari's health challenge, we have decided to educate the political dissident that governance is not entertainment.

President Buhari has just spent few days receiving medical attention and Charly Boy and his dubious sponsors are making senseless noise about it, what about a former American President who ruled America in the midst of greater health challenge yet Americans never gave a hoot about it.

In 1919, President Woodrow Wilson suffered a severe stroke that left him incapacitated until the end of his presidency, yet Americans did not call for his resignation or impeachment, but here in Nigeria, we have a President who is only on a medical check-up and some group of attention-seekers are making it to look as if it is anathema.

For Charly Boy and his sponsors to organise such protest against our darling President, we have resolved and are going to stage a counter protest that will show the world that President Muhammadu Buhari is truly loved by Nigerians despite the media gang up against him.

We have also collected the comprehensive list of politicians within and outside the APC who are sponsoring the protest and negative publicity against Buhari and will make it public for Nigerians to see who and who is actually preventing good governance from happening in the country.

ishowdotgmail:
Recall that on Saturday 22th July, 2017 there was a trending story of an Expelled Nigerian law school student, Olusegun Kayode Bello, who gave an account on why he was expelled.
The Nigerian Law school on Wednesday 26th July, 2017 released a detailed statement on why he was expelled from the institution.

Below reads the press statement from the Nigerian law school

STATEMENT ON MR. OLUSEGUN KAYODE BELLO – STUDENT EXPELLED FROM NIGERIAN LAW SCHOOL

Mr. Olusegun Kayode Bello applied for admission to the Nigerian Law School in July, 2012. His application form and Dean’s Reference revealed that he was rusticated from the Faculty of Law, University of Ibadan in the 2008/2009 Academic Session for disrupting the peace and tranquility of the University Campus. The Dean’s confidential report showed that he defied the authorities of the University and continued his programme without serving out the rustication period. It was when his defiance was discovered that he was forced to comply.
After his studentship was reinstated, he was unrepentant as the report indicated his further involvement in a case of gross misconduct (insubordination), which made the Board of the Faculty of Law to recommend him for further disciplinary action.

In line with the extant policy at the Nigerian Law School, the candidate’s application for admission in 2012 was referred to the Council of Legal Education, which resolved that the candidate should only be considered for admission in the 2016/2017 School Year in view of his negative antecedent in the University.

Invariably, he applied for admission in 2016. When he was eventually to be offered admission in October 2016, the Council of Legal Education further directed that he should be issued a letter of warning, to avoid any acts of misconduct and indiscipline while at the Nigerian Law School; and that his admission was on probation, subject to good character.

Sometime in March 2017, there was a report of an altercation between him and one of his female colleagues over a preferred seat in the venue of lecture.

The report from his colleagues was that a female student left the hall to visit the toilet. In her absence, Mr. Bello left his seat at the rear of the hall and took the seat of the absent student. All entreaties of the Auditorium Marshall, the Chairman of the Students Representative Council (S.R.C.) and other students fell on deaf ears. It was further reported that Mr. Bello nearly went into a scuffle with the female student on her return from the rest room.

Because of his disorderly behavior, a query was issued to him by the Head of Students Affairs Department. Rather than addressing the issues, he went into irrelevant narration, alleging bias by the officials.

Thereafter, he went on to procure and print on a polo shirt inciting inscriptions and embarked on a solo protest around the School premises. He followed this with a petition against the “Head, Control Room”, addressed to the Secretary to the Council of Legal Education and Director of Administration, which he circulated to the whole world, including the Secretary-General of the United Nations and Amnesty International.

His continued disruptive behavour raised concern among his colleagues. In consequence, the Students Representative Council issued a disclaimer of his actions which was addressed to the Head of Academics on March 21, 2017 and read in part as follows:

“This is to bring to your notice that the S.R.C…………….distances itself totally from the unnecessary and inordinate acts of one Mr. Kayode Bello. This is coming after the S.R.C. through the appropriate Committee met with the said Mr. Kayode Bello to aggregate interest, but he walked out on the Committee.”

Following the disclaimer and Mr. Bello’s continued acts of intransigence and nuisance in the hostel, the Students Affairs Officer issued him with another query, but he refused to accept it. Considering his estranged relationship with his colleagues; and to avoid any break down of law and peaceful co-existence, a letter of advise was written to him to vacate the Hostel in his interest. Mr. Bello however refused to accept the letter.

Instead, he went to the Bwari Divisional Police Station to lay a complaint of criminal intimidation against the management of the Nigerian Law School, seeking the arrest of all the officers. He further urged the Police to invite the Chairman, Council of Legal Education for interrogation.

Consequently, he was invited, along with the female student he had an altercation with, the Chairman of the Students Representative Council and the Auditorium Marshall, to appear before the Students Misconduct Committee, for various infractions of the Students Code of Conduct. Even though he received the letter of invitation, he refused to acknowledge receipt of it and failed to appear before the Committee, despite repeated invitations.

At conclusion of its deliberations, the Committee found Mr. Bello liable of the allegations against him. It noted that:

“The Council of Legal Education was magnanimous in its decision to approve the admission of Mr. Bello to the Nigerian Law School, despite the adverse report from his University.” It further noted that: “Mr. Bello lacks the core attributes, disposition and comportment of an aspirant to the Bar.”

It therefore recommended his expulsion from the Nigerian Law School.
The report of the Committee was considered by the Council of Legal Education at its meeting of July 11, 2017, which approved the recommendations accordingly.

The decision of the Council of Legal Education was delivered to Mr. Bello, but he refused to accept the letter and further refused to vacate the Students Hostel as he was directed. Instead, he armed himself with an iron rod and threatened to injure whoever went near him. The security personnel left him alone, to avoid a situation in which any of them would be injured by Mr. Bello.

He was eventually sighted in the Library unarmed, as a result of which the Security Operatives were able to escort him to the Bwari Divisional Police Station. The Police later brought him to the hostel to evacuate his belongings.

Mr. Bello’s penchant for misbehaviour was also recently brought to the fore via the letter from the Principal Partner (a Senior Advocate of Nigeria), of the Law Firm to which he was attached, during the just concluded Externship exercise by all students of the Nigerian Law School. The Firm was constrained to terminate his stay there even before the period expired because of Mr. Bello’s incorrigible behaviour. The letter went thus:

“We write to inform you that your conduct during the period of your externship in our Law Firm is highly unbecoming of a person aspiring to be a legal practitioner. You have demonstrated little or no respect to the leadership and personnel of the firm. As an aspiring legal practitioner, your conduct is expected to be Fit and Proper. We are therefore constrained to reject your continuation of the externship and hereby wish to inform you that you leave the office forthwith.”

The Nigerian Law School and the legal profession, to which he aspired to belong, do not condone the type of behavior constantly exhibited by Mr. Bello.

On facilities at the Nigerian Law School, it is worthy of note that the Main Hall of the Nigerian Law School in the Bwari, Abuja has more than enough seats for all registered students. The position is the same in the other Campuses of Nigerian Law School.

Therefore, the basis for the conflict precipitated by Mr. Bello, by leaving his seat and moving over to that occupied by a fellow student was unfortunate. The Nigerian Law School has sufficient capacity to cope with students projection for the foreseeable future.
