I want to thank all those that dropped by my whatsapp yard sales yesterday and picked a thing or two- your TRUST to transfer MORE THAN 100 thousand naira collectively, in part deposit or full payment was really humbling. As much I you know I couldn't humanly delay this clearance till June ending to kick off sales, you placed yourself in my shoes and did the needful and the result was the nice sales outing we had so far.

I also want to thank those that gave words of encouragement regarding the fair pricing of the items and the quality of items on display. God will reward you... I have had people come to pick up items at the house only to see other items with their own eyes physically (instead of pictures) and part deposited for more items.

Please I need suggestions on how to wriggle out of this little dilemma.

My daughter's international passport having her PR visa vignette is expiring in Aug, 2019 and we will be flying in July,2019.

What can I do?

1. Should I get another Intl passport or will Ethiopian Air allow it pass? (For those who have previously flown with ET)

2. If I eventually need to get a new Intl passport, will it be necessary to inform and update CIC about the new passport details?

Congratulations on your landing story. It was indeed ground breaking(I can relate with the emotions behind every line typed...

I'm already fighting back mine too...sometimes, I tell myself we'll go land and return back to naija and go back permanently after 1 year ...I laugh at myself at those thoughts..the main fear isn't lack of finances or whether one will get an immediate job replacement but rather leaving behind several cherished and built relationships, ones communities-church, social life etc...it's well. Whenever those thoughts come up though, I immediately "auto-correct" them with the main reasons I wanted out in the first place. ..we focus on the goal as we move to loftier phases of our lives)

Update: So the scheduled interview was actually landing in its own right. Got there 10 mins to the scheduled time, got myself a number card, waited till it was my turn. I was asked two questions. Have I ever been convicted of a crime in Canada or elsewhere to which I answered NO. Also, I was asked if I have any dependants I haven't stated, I said NO. They printed my CoPR, have me sign both copies, they took one with one of the aforementioned passport photographs and that was it. The waiting time aside I didn't spend up to 5 minutes there.

Bro, by that short procedure that you described above, as an inland applicant, you have officially landed in Canada.

Unfortunately, I doubt it whether you got the "welcome to Canada" greetings that international applicants get when landing at the international port of entries. ([s]I'm sure you'll say- who cares- as long as you have gotten your PR status![/s] )

(Honestly, sometimes I think we- Federal Skilled Workers (FSW) category(majorly outland applicants) don't appreciate enough the weight of the benefits of the PR status that we clinch right from our home countries and land with in Canada, all within 1 year of applying (myself inclusive)....To clinch that same PR status, it will cost the Canadian Experience Category applicant (CEC- that's the category for those that schooled in Canada and eventually stayed back to work on work permit or other temporary work permit holders already working and living in Canada but not permanent residents) about 1 to 4 years of schooling (depending on what level of study), 1 year of post-graduation work experience and thereafter putting in his permanent residency application....effectively making it a minimum of 2 years to about 5 years of braving the Canadian winters before he can claim to be a permanent resident of the country he's been living in the last 2 to 5 years)

Hi all, please I need help.

My PR Visa expires in July, while my passport expires in October. My travel date is last week of May.

Will this be a problem as passport validity will be less than 6 months. If it is, does CIC need to be contacted after passport renewal or just travel with the new & old passport that has the visa.

Bros, this is risky oooo.

1. You cant apply for a new passport at the Nigerian Immigration Passport Office until you have less than 6 months validity on your existing passport. Hence, by May, that's when you can apply for a new passport and that's when you plan to travel.

2. If you haven't bought a ticket yet, you may want to push your journey to April ending and give yourself enough time to apply and get a new passport. This is so as to avoid "speaking grammar" with the airline people (I guess I heard somewhere that they wont lift passengers having less than 6 months validity on their passports). Just take your old passport warehousing your PR immigrant and attach your new passport and proceed to Murtala Mohammed International. You should be fine like that and will most likely not speak unnecessary English.

3. However, if you want to risk it, do the calculations properly and leave within the passport validity greater than 6months. It will be close, but I hope it flies.

Get back to the house and update us on how it eventually panned out. Folks can learn from your experience.
