Hello House,

Apologies if this question has been answered before.

- Please is it only one (1) police report that is needed for a family application?
- What are the names of recommended hospitals for medicals in Lagos? Any idea the amount for a family of three (3)?

Appreciate your responses.

BR

You are a bona-fide page 1 candidate.

Please don't start this process without reading the links on page 1 thoroughly. You will thank me later.

Hello All,

A married colleague of mine got ITA yesterday and she just realized that she made a mistake when she was about to continue her application.

The surname she used was her maiden name instead of her husband's name as this is what appears on her international passport. Should she continue with her application and explain in her LOE or withdraw and re-enter the pool?

I will appreciate any useful advice.

Thanks

Hobyno:

IMO I would suggest she declines the ITA correct the name and enter back into the pool so as to avoid plenty LOE

Ahaaa....decline the ITA kee because she used her maiden name to create profile which tallies with the name on her international passport....

Bros, fear God ooo! grin

@Op, for the sake of the precious ITA, better advice your colleague to follow the advise that Ifeoma had earlier given. She can regularise the name-ish much later into the process.

Good morning house,

I was one of the applicants that got the new year 'ineligible' express entry profile message. I read testimonies of creating a new profile, increasing the POF and becoming eligible but I decided to stay action on creating a new profile till i see an official information on their website about the "increase in POF" but none up till now.

Long and short is I prepared to create a new profile just now. I logged into the "ineligible" account profile and I saw the info which says I am eligible again although no message was sent to that effect. I still have the ineligible message in my account though. I also had two ghost updates between Jan 1 and now.

Right now it says I meet the minimum criteria. #You are a candidate. We will send you a message if you are invited to apply# ....OK ohhhhh

I am thinking the whole ineligible profile message was just a glitch like some have pointed out.Should I go ahead and create another profile? I hope I wont have issues post AOR about my eligibility?.I intend to increase the POF in my account before submitting my application to give room for an increase in POF requirement that IRCC might introduce.

Note: I received an ITA before now but had to decline towards the deadline last december. I am expecting another ITA today @464

I will appreciate your comments and opinions.thanks

You wont have problems creating a new profile at the instance of a previously ineligible profile, however note the below points:

1. Maintain consistency of major and strategic info in your new profile similar to what you have in your old ineligible profile eg, date of birth, education, marital status, etc. However, when this happened to me, I still changed my NOC and increased my POF amount and nothing happened during my application processing. I guess you can effect such changes too.

2. That you have previously rejected an ITA is inconsequential to this new profile (However, note that all the details from your old profile including the changes madeand details in your new profile will be reflected in your GCMS. Although info reflected from your withdrawn profile will not be used in deciding your application)

You are good to go- effect the changes in your new profile and wait for your ITA. Congrats in advance on your ITA today.

Teecan and all my fellow nairalanders, I wish you all a very happy new year filled with favour and good tidings amen! please look at this and tell us what you think. You know in Nigeria, noc 4214 is not called early childhood educator. My employment letter in 2004 carried kindergarten teacher as my position. Because of this, the reference letter given to me has to carry kindergarten teacher as well. But all duties matches early childhood educator. Do you think this will cause an issue as it does not state early childhood educator as position? Abi I should follow it up with LOE?

@ArcUgo has done justice to your request.

1- You passionately and diligently immersed yourself into this immi-journey and God ended it in praise for you.

2. You also strike me as a very detailed and deliberate person- a success hunter like alot of folks here! grin grin

Even for some of us that have done trips outside, it took me 3 days to believe that for real I have a PR visa sitting in my passport for self and family...just like that!!! grin grin TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!!

Happy for your family as a whole. Go and flourish in Canada and do destiny proud.

The issue is i included affidavit of change of name, newspaper publication and marriage certificate in my application but my wife's international passport is still in her maiden name because she got it few months to our wedding and it has 3years validity..that's why I'm confused when I saw the post

I did all that too during our application submission. Submitted my wife's affidavit change of name, newspaper publication, marriage certificate whilst her international passport was still in her maiden name.

1. No issue whatsoever if you didn't renew her international passport with her married surname. It will still pass and be approved normally.

2. However, in my case, I towed the other route: After submitting our application, I thought that it will be okay to have my wife's married surname (which has officially been changed anyways) to reflect in her immigration documents starting with the Confirmation of Permanent Residence (CoPR) document to the PR Card subsequently...as I don't want to start the process of name change on documents later into our stay in Canada. Hence I initiated the renewal of her international passport for change of surname at ikoyi passport office (though her passport in her maiden name hadn't expire) and got it out after some weeks. I then raised a CSE to submit the new international passport carrying the married surname with a letter of explanantion(LOE) attached together with the new international passport in one PDF stating that we desire to have my wife's surname changed and henceafter use the new surname on all her immigration documents.

48 hours after raising the CSE, her surname change was reflected on my express entry profile and subsequently, her immigrant visa and CoPR document reflected her married surname.

By so doing, I have exempted myself from that additional official stress of switching surnames on documents later on in Canada. I have done that here and I'm done with that.

OPEN MEMO TO @MummyChiChi and pretty everyone (especially married folks) planning to throw in the IELTS towel

I want to start by saying I understand and know the emotions behind this journey and first of all, I acknowledge your feeling of despair after all the weeks of quiet prep, staying back after work to prep, meeting up with friends to get a hang of this whole test. etc, and still not clearing it as desired.

But let me add quickly, take the time you need to do a soul searching, by all means, meditate about the bad outing BUT find the inner strength to look the IELTS logo in the face and say to it- "I WILL TAKE YOU AS ANOTHER CHALLENGE THAT I HAVE WILL HAVE TO FACE IN THIS COUNTRY AND OVERCOME YOU BY GOD'S GRACE WITH ALL THAT I HAVE WITHIN ME...MAKING YOU IELTS AMONGST THE LAST BATCH OF CHALLENGES I WILL HAVE TO DEAL WITH IN THIS COUNTRY"

Whilst at it, don't quickly jump into the next test, leave like a month and use this period to overhaul your strategy especially for the troublesome paper- Writing. Search for all the info you can get on how to tackle the paper and sieve all the info to arrive at what will work for you. Test run the different parts of your finalized strategy like your life depends on it (infact alot depend on it), you can't afford to be slaggy about it. Don't give yourself excuses...

For my defining IELTS that got me our ITA, I remember that I wrote the LRSW score that I desire from God on a plain paper and pasted it on my dressing wardrobe, where I saw it every morning whilst dressing up for work, a glance at the desired score triggers a drive in my head that says..."you are not coming back to this house until you have done an extra 2-3 hours of quality strategy refining (you call it study) cos IELTS for me is really not a test of English but test of hints, tips and a well honed strategy to surmount the test of English ultimately. I stayed back to use all the online resources previously discussed here to test run my strategies for L, R, S, W until I somewhat-ly felt I am beginning to get a hang of it.

This strategy must be flowing in your "bloodstream" and as the exam gets nearer to the D-day, if they wake you up from sleep, you can't afford to call "G" an "A", it must be that very clear in your mind what you need to deploy from your strategy as per what they serve you on the test day.

Of course it's a whole lot of conscious effort and hard work, but as the saying goes- no pain, no gain!

I am saying this especially for the married folks here who are planning to give up, you can't afford to, if for nothing but for the sake of those precious kids...this country gat no plan for them.(You wont appreciate how bad the situation is until you really step out of here, including the so called private schools. who is regulating the sector? Who is teaching our kids? Where are they trained? We cant give what we don't what have na. If you have friends and family with kids in Canada, call them up once in a while and ask them to tell you how their kids are faring against when they were in Nigeria. You won't give up oooo!!

Just try a bit more, push a little further, encourage yourself...for all you know, you are just an exam away from your success breakthrough...

NB: Between me and my wife (though it was small) we had 4 attempts...

It will ALL definitely end in praises IJN!

Now I'm scared. I did my NYSC in a university. My HOD is the one writing my reference letter and he would be using the university's letter head. This your post scares me right now.

And no, I wasn't trying to act smart. I was only trying to follow the CIC format as seen on their website and so I put ensured I included the instructions in the email I sent to him plus the links to CIC website.

I am not sure if the letterhead will state the department cos it is like a college/faculty on his own. It is where they run their foundation program for pre-degree students.

So my question is this, if it is like that, does that mean there will be nothing to be afraid of? Since he is the head.

The University system is different from other general companies and banks as advised.

In my humble opinion (IMHO), I verily believe that a university don in the capacity of an HOD/Dean can issue you your reference letter and it will fly with CIC. If I were in your shoes, I won't break a sweat.

Universities dons are respected world over and their references (even in their personal capacities much less as a Dean/HOD) are not taken lightly in most institutions around the world.

Hello @Zeiya, congratulations on your ppr.
Did you fill the IMM008 form or you submitted your passports without it?
If you did fill it, pls can you possibly send a copy of the form? It didn't come with my ppr mail.

I intend to fill it, even though there's been no change in my family configuration.

As for the vfs consent form, did you use pen to fill it or it was typed? The form is not editable for me, so I'm not able to type in the required details on it.

I am submitting on tomorrow

Pls other seniors in the house, kindly help too.
Thank you

Below was how I handled the matter during my time.

1. IMM0008 - I didn't fill because there hasn't been any change in the composition of my family.

Yes, IMM008 wont come with the PPR letter, you can always download it free from www.canada.ca (just search the website for it). Most often than not, most federal forms like IMM008 are editable, so you may be able to type into it, date it and print out for biro signing.

2. VFS Consent form - I printed it out from www.vfsglobal.com site and got wifey to biro fill and sign the relevant sections of the form as appropriate and added it to our documents.(As an adult on the family application, she needs to execute the consent form so that as the PA, I'll have her authority to submit and collect her passport and CoPR on her behalf)

NB: Remember to follow all the checklist and submit all the required documents and necessary photocopies, don't forget the specific requirements of your passport photos- photo sizing, stamp/details of the commercial photographer, date and names at the back of one of the 2 passport photos.

Thanks for the response.Yes,the visa refusal is for visitor/tourist and do you mean a No to question 1 and a YES to question 2 is in order?
Please clarify as the first snapshot also include the clause “or any other country”.
Please clarify

Yes, that's the confusing aspect of the 1st question.... "or any other country"

But your are safe to answer the 1st ques as NO and answer the 2nd question that has "refusal for visitor/tourist visa to Canada or any other country" as YES.

These questions are similar to what is in the Schedule A federal immigration form. So if you elect to fill and upload Schedule A, just repeat your NO/YES options as in your e-APR.

I answered these questions just as explained above.

MODIFIED: I think you'll be fine with a YES/YES option too. The idea is to declare that you have had a refusal(s) in the past and give apt details for these refusal(s)

Re @tjbrown's PPR story.

The trend of young, mobile, middle class Nigerians including/especially those already abroad going for Canada Express Entry no be here.

From my side, I first heard of EE from a Nigerian in Japan. I know of someone doing Masters in Georgia - country (what is he doing there, sef?) who is planning for EE when he finishes.

Issorai! We will all meet in Canada las las!

The allure is obvious na grin

In Canada, you can get a developed nation's permanent residency (with the array of benefits that comes with it) and later citizenship and passport to travel visa free to more than 100 countries of the world.

It is not so easy to get residency and citizenship in those places like Japan, Hong Kong, UAE etc hence you are restricted from achieving a whole lot that their citizens will naturally achieve given the same efforts.

So you see, this Canadian hustle is global and real...Nigerians in the UK, Japan, UAE and Nigerians in Nigeria all are jostling for it...

First of all, the e-family is glad and rejoice with you that this ended in solid praise!

To the urgent issue at hand: CLOSE MEDICAL EXPIRY DATE.

Hmm, it's been done before by a brother on one of our previous threads, writing his primary LVO and copy Accra for re-taking the medicals and thereby extending the landing deadline date.

You don't have anything to loose by "testing the system" (It's always my personal motto- I did somethings and followed some paths in my application that few folks here will likely not want to- and all passed- many friends that I shared those things with here said I was plain lucky or that I got a friendly case officer! grin

You know what to do if you strongly think you need the time to prep your exit properly, write a very persuasive email to Kyiv and copy Accra that on compassionate grounds, be allowed to re-take your medicals and hence by so doing, have your landing date deadline shifted forward.

In the meantime, reach out to Accra in a separate email within this 15 day passport submission window, and follow up on phone regarding this pending appeal to have new medicals done and hear what they have to say.

Congratulations once again!
