Food / CNN Confirms That Pepper Helps Reduce Risk Of Dying Of Heart Attack & Stroke by TeejayMaya(m): 11:32am On Dec 21, 2019
The risk of dying from a heart attack was 40% lower among those eating chili peppers at least four times per week, and deaths from stroke were more than halved, researchers.

That delicious penne all'arrabiata may have benefits that go further than putting a smile on your face, according to a new study.

For many years, chili has been hailed for its therapeutic properties, and now researchers have found that eating chili peppers regularly can cut the risk of death from heart disease and stroke.

Carried out in Italy, where chili is a common ingredient, the study compared the risk of death among 23,000 people, some of whom ate chili and some of whom didn't.

Participants' health status and eating habits were monitored over eight years, and researchers found that the risk of dying from a heart attack was 40% lower among those eating chili peppers at least four times per week.

Death from stroke was more than halved, according to results published Monday in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.

"An interesting fact is that protection from mortality risk was independent of the type of diet people followed," said study lead author Marialaura Bonaccio, an epidemiologist at the Mediterranean Neurological Institute (Neuromed).

"In other words, someone can follow the healthy Mediterranean diet, someone else can eat less healthily, but for all of them chili pepper has a protective effect," she said.

The research uses data from the Moli-Sani study, which has around 25,000 participants in the Molise region of southern Italy.

Licia Iacoviello, director of the department of epidemiology and prevention at Neuromed and a professor at the University of Insubria in Varese, explained that the beneficial properties of chili had been passed down through Italian food culture.

"And now, as already observed in China and in the United States, we know that the various plants of the capsicum species, although consumed in different ways throughout the world, can exert a protective action towards our health," said Iacoviello.

The team now plans to investigate the biochemical mechanisms that make chili good for our health.

External experts praised the study while pointing out some limitations.

Duane Mellor, a registered dietitian and senior teaching fellow at Aston Medical School in the UK, said the paper is "interesting" but "does not show a causal link" between chili consumption and health benefits.

Mellor said the positive effect of chili consumption observed in the study could be attributed to how the peppers are used in an overall diet.

"It is plausible people who use chillies, as the data suggests also used more herbs and spices, and as such likely to be eating more fresh foods including vegetables," he said.

"So, although chillies can be a tasty addition to our recipes and meals, any direct effect is likely to be small and it is more likely that it makes eating other healthy foods more pleasurable."

Ian Johnson, a nutrition researcher at Quadram Institute Bioscience in Norwich, England, praised the "high-quality observational study" for its "robust methods."

For heart disease, meds may work as well as invasive surgery, major trial shows
However, he also pointed out that no mechanism for the protective effect was identified, nor did scientists find that eating more chili provided additional health benefits.

"This type of relationship suggests that chillies may be just a marker for some other dietary or lifestyle factor that hasn't been accounted for but, to be fair, this kind of uncertainty is usually present in epidemiological studies, and the authors do acknowledge this," said Johnson.

Now we are filling and reporting them to relevant anti-fruad and cyber-crime agencies cos this time they will pay for their nonesense. Imagine calling me to tell me they have issues with their own registrar, how is that my problem that they haven't resolve it since for over a week and still counting? They are a big disgrace and embarrassment.

Would ensure we put them out of operation so they can close down and stop scamming people of their hard earned money without delivering their service.

Hi,

I know how you feel. I have been there before. Can you imagine a whole year of making payment for domain and hosting and yet, simple wordpress could not be installed on Web4Africa Hosting?

That was years ago, Ive moved on, and now, I better. Its people like Web4Africa that gives others a bad name.

Maybe they have issues, and they will never admit it. Its a 1-man biz where customers are largely on their own.

regards

Thanks alot bro, so sorry to hear about your ordeal with them as well. They are really terrible and should be closed down to stop them from scamming more people.

Domain renewal is suppose to be automated and quick with a single click after payment. If they know they aren't up for business then why accepting payments and sending invoices. I would really show them this time.

Lalasticlala please help out

Their phone numbers are still unreachable and LiveChat offline neither have I been replied to. This is so pathetic and unimaginable.

If they are out of business, they should let us know and refund my money rather than all these. My clients are so furious and angry. Domain renewal is supposed to be automated and take just a few seconds.
Webmasters / Web4africa Is A Scam And A Big Disappointment by TeejayMaya(m): 2:43pm On Mar 04, 2019
Hello house, I would like to warn and bring to the public notice the unprofessional and highly disappointing attitudes of Web4Africa.net Domain registrar.

I will make this very brief and straight to the point. I have been using them for domain registration while pointing the DNS to my foreign reliable and more serious web host. I made a payment for my domain name renewal last week just before it expires while they sent me a domain renewed successfully message and it's been working just only for it to be down today and saying domain name is expired.

I have been messaging and complaining to them since but no reply to my support tickets till now. Also accessing them via their phone numbers was all to no avail as they are all unreachable. Their LiveChat support which I was able to access after several trials was a terrible experience as their agent kept saying "they would work on it and revert to me" repeatedly without any result even after several hours. I even requested for a timeframe so I can know when to be expectant but refused to answer me, still repeating the "we will get back to you" chorus and when I vented and expressed how so annonying this unprofessional attitude is, she/he cut me off from the LiveChat.

Now my clients are so furious and complaining so bitterly now since cos as far as they are consigned they have paid for the domain renewal even before it's expiration and now this unethical drama? It's so unbelievable.

My appeal is Web4Africa attends to my issue or refund me back my money else we will take necessary legal actions on them as we won't want them to tarnish our corporate image due to their unethical and unprofessional manners. Normally I don't do this but they are really stepping on my toes and can't tolerate this nonesense any more. It's not my thing to post bad issues about a company online but it's so frustrating they refused to answer me after all the appeal to them.

I will imploy others to ignore them completely as they are obviously not a serious business and dealing with them is at your company's reputation risk to your clients. I have always used foreign hosts and they are very much better, professional, ethical in all their dealings plus they don't joke with their customer support and their phone numbers are always reachable round the clock aside their quality service delivery.

Would keep you all updated as I tackle them cos I would ensure we deal with them to the very core so others don't fall victim to them again.

There is a complete erosion of values and respect for womanhood going on in Nigeria right before our eyes and we think its modernization.
A woman is here flaunting the fact that so many men had unprotected sex with her that culminated in the birth of a baby.....we even have someone else claiming to be the baby's dad; which implies that he was one of her numerous sex mates who had unprotected sex with her... (an implication she doesn't deny).
Women do not know they are shooting themselves in the foot by creating the impression that they should be treated like sex objects, hoes and without respect.
Even Linda Ikeji is too rich to fit into a marriage.... So she scripted a relationship with a man and acted her part so well that it was piloted to crash weeks after birthing the child and even the church partook in the celebration.
The bubble will finally burst one day.
A time is coming in Nigeria when men will rather have babies with these shameless Nigerian girls but will import wives with tolerable social history.
Talk about love? Materialism has firmly overthrown it in Nigerian love circles.
At least the Muslims are getting their acts right here.
The future will tell.

You said it all. Absolutely

Politics / What The Igbos Can Learn From The Yorubas - By Joe Igbokwe by TeejayMaya(m): 11:35am On Jun 11, 2018
Joe Igbokwe says it raw!

"Did the Yoruba go to war when June 12 1993 Presidential Election won by their illustrious son Chief MKO Abiola was annulled on June 23rd 1993 on a sheet of paper by IBB?

Did Yoruba go to war when Abiola’s wife Alhaja Kudirat Abiola was murdered in Lagos in the morning of Jun 4 1996?

Did Yoruba go to war when the winner of that historic election was poisoned on July 7 1998?

Did Yoruba go to war when those who killed Abiola imposed Obasanjo on them as President in 1999?

Did Yoruba accept Chief Ernest Shonekan when IBB made him to head the interim government in 1993? Yoruba rejected OBJ and Shonekan because this unique race has never been slaves to public office and yet they have remained number one in Nigeria in almost everything. This is wisdom and strategic thinking at work.

Those of us who have lived in Yoruba land for years should not only learn how to wear Aso Ebi, eat Ewedu soup or dance Owambe, music.

We must have also learned other unique things from them like sharing property to both male and female children, religious tolerance, ethnic tolerance, transferring legacies from generation to generation. Do you know that APC National Leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s wife is a Christian? Do you know that former Governor Fashola’s wife is a Christian? We can learn a lot from Yoruba. Yoruba too can learn from Igbo in areas of thinking home, business enterprise, self-help, apprenticeship, etc.

A Yoruba woman, a Pastor Mrs. Eunice Olawale Elisha of the Redeemed Christian Church of God old NEPA Road Phase 4 Kubwa, Abuja was killed by unknown persons on Saturday morning of July 9, 2016, while preaching the gospel around 5.30am. I have followed the reactions on the internety and Yoruba do not behave like the Igbo. They have been speaking but not preaching hate. They have called for the culprits to be fished out, prosecuted and punished. If Mrs. Eunice Elisha had been an Igbo hell would have been let loose. There would have been abuses and abuses. But Yoruba are not Igbo. This is civilization. This is strategic thinking. I hope our people can learn from this. Civility is not a sign of weakness. He who fights and run away lives to fight another day.

When GEJ marginalized Yoruba in his cabinet for five years despite been the most vocal in an effort to make him president, Yorubas didn't threaten anybody, they didn't abuse anybody, they simply fought in a peaceful & civilized way to effect a change in 2015 using their PVC. Today the most active VP since the independence & most likely, the next president of Nigeria is Yoruba. Fashola heads 3 ministries & referred to as prime minister in some parlance, Kemi Adeosun heads finance, Fayemi heads mines etc. That's how to fight for relevance in multi faceted country like Nigeria & not taking up arm against everybody.

To have ears is not to listen, to listen is not to hear, to hear is not to understand, to understand is not to put to practice. I know that writing this may not get me many friends among the Igbo, but it always gets me the right ones"

Being taken for granted and taking one's humility for weakness. Learnt now why men tend not to show too much love and care that she gets to know you love her more than she does for you.

Know better now that there should be a limit to being nice to her hence she will take you for granted and start to feel special like the Queen of England with an exaggerated ego. Our women tend to get carried away with too much care being narcissistic prone.

Maybe due to our environment here in the country, they tend to like the bad guy personality and look down on gentlemen. More often than not, the power in a relationship lies with who cares less.

Above all, wisdom is profitable to direct.

There should be a limit to being nice to her hence she will take you for granted and start to feel special like the Queen of England with an exaggerated ego. Don't be too close and sometimes give her some distance and she will value you and this is where economics comes in which says that scarcity creates value.

Don't give her much money even if you have much to spend, but make her believe you have money by spending it on yourself.

Thanks for coming out to say the truth regardless of how bitter it is. This has been so obvious and crystal clear across ALL major social media and its so disheartening to see, and to think that supposed Christians could harbour such immense degree of hatred towards others.

But I refuse to join arguments with harden tribalists hence why I often overlook their words in pity of such self dilusionism. We as educated and enlightened youths should be more civilised and join hands regardless of tribe, religion, ethnicity, race towards a better and prosperous society for us all and our future, appreciating our unity in diversity and varieties that life has offered us.

So with more people like you speaking up, it would go a very long way to correct the impression the bad eggs/online miscreants are giving the Igbos and show that not all Igbos subscribe to the hatred and tribalism these ipob people tend to spread online at an alarming rate.
