PoliticsRe: Nigeria Turns To Russia And China For Military Hardware Against Terror by teemy(m): 4:41pm On Sep 20, 2014
If it were you, you would probably do the same.

America is there only to support america's interests and if a person/nation is in the way of those interests something just has to give. A while ago Nigeria gave out a contract to the isrealis (can't remember if it was the $40m internet surveilance project or the drones) without the normal open bidding and an americal official was making noise about it. Now that we are in a state of war the help just seems to flow sloppy as if wanting the prohpecy of 2015 disintegration needs to be aided to come through.

Before the Chibok girls saga when the state of emergency was declared, I read that the US was sending unarmed surveilance drones to the NE area. If they were still in place at the time of the Chibok abductions I wonder why they stay at the fingerpointing side. More like an excuse to have troops/a missile base in the area once the whole place is hot.

A government is in power and you want to oust it. Very nice ba? Once the govt can quell the initial rebellion, normalcy can exist in the climes but not if the rebels would get US/Saudi armaments but rather last longer and a whole lot of people die and a country is destroyed. I thought they used to use sanctions but now the leader sha must go. Since Russia and the rest have spoken against it (so you don't turn the area to another Afghanistan/Iraq that you have invaded and till date do not know any peace) you arm rebels (A gun powder action that could produce the next Osama Bin Laden). I am not talking about the morality/immorality of Assad here but it seems there is a decisive project going on meant to destabilize economies that have prospects of becoming great powers within the next 20-50 years and only the friends/allies would be left as long as ...

Look at Libya and Iraq of today. The middle east is an area with hard hearted people. Even under the celebrated King David of the bible 20 people were killed and 10 were spared out of every 30. Usually to quell the fierceness of warring tribes a tyrant like Guadaffi/Saddam rises kills a lot of people and the rest drop their arms. After this peace reigns. Killing off these leaders recycles the reign of warring tribes as we are seeing today. In the rise and fall of the mentioned leaders here the US in involved. Seems they had an unresolved argument. Their countries are no better off.

About the current US president's negative behaviour to Nigeria, it has been since the time of Yaradua's illness overseas. Abmutallab who was redicalized in the UK had Nigeria not the UK on an OFAC list prohibiting growth and businesses that could support the country. Goodluck had to go there before we were delisted. I have noticed ever since that the two countries seem not to have the normal cordiality since then. In Obama's trip to Africa, the favoured countries were made known.

Our senators were more poised for an Obama visit and did not so much value the Chinese and Russian Presidents visit but when Hillary came around and gave them a few pieces of her mind (I seriously believe they needed it) I guess they were disappointed.

Nigeria needs to think for Nigeria and until we become a nation of "All for One and One for All" especially with our current self centredness attitudes, we would just implode one day when the owambe fuel money dries up and we are fored to become a tax powered economy.
America learnt this during the encounters wit the Red Indians as well as against the British. As a country we have never really had to stand together as one to fight a common enemy. Maybe our leaders would use this BH opportunity to create that patriotism so desperately needed Until then no one would take us serious, not even ourselves. To read more on America only for Americans I recommend an earlier post.

o42austino: Yes it is his Property but when it involves people lives it is nolonger his Property or his business alone, it now also d business of d Nation,d government and d people, its d business of d journalist to look at the materials use in d building construction to know if it meet d standard and report to d people,it his business to tell d people how many Christians brethren thst died i such building, pls stop religion bigotry.
I just added my like to your post. One thing is the journalist did not say he has a building inspection licence and he from his acts is not more interested in life saving than the members of the church. Have you seen that in emergency wards/ ICUs everyone is being cleared away. One more thing is that it was only his own version of the story that has come up now and yet I see loopholes in it.

He simply sis not respect others' privacy.
PoliticsRe: Reporter's Diary: How I Got Attacked At Synagogue Church by teemy(m): 12:49am On Sep 15, 2014
You need to see reporters misbehave in real life not to talk about subverting the truth or worse quoting out of context. There is good 'news' like bad news and that is what sells the papers and hence more cover page reporting and bonuses. If there is a baricade and the church people create a line the journalists are expected to respect that but if they shove, the line shoves back. I have never been a supporter of pastor TB but in this case the journalists had it coming misbehaving on another's territory and I wonder why the EMA man was pulling in journalists which was not his business when he had not even surveyed what was on ground/at stake. Very unprofessional.

Even govts cover up or hide some truths. E.g the latest truck park bomb blast in Lagos could have led to ethnic cleansing if the state govt. had not at the time covered up the exact story. They let the real story trickle down as a rumour before acknoledging the truth. I am never an advocate of falsehoods but truth management is a necessity especially when what you say affects lots of lives. Try being the story for one of these reporters some day and you would see what I mean.

PoliticsRe: Reporter's Diary: How I Got Attacked At Synagogue Church by teemy(m):
Personally I would never support acts of aggression by christians except in cases of self defence and protection of property but if a man says 'You can't enter my house' it means exactly that. Journalist or not. The overseers of the premises denies them entrance and they still want to sneak in even in the francas and chaos where saving lifes was the main purpose. Atimes journalists get ahead of themselves and this one was more interested on getting a negative scoop on that church than what just happened.

There is still a law called tresspassing in Nigeria.

tpia1: its not always so easy though.
I totally agree with you. Same goes for achieving a lot of things in life. It would not look beautiful should you later in life become a minister or influential politician and a fame hungry journalist picks up some response of yours on Nairaland where you had to reply someone thereby givinf him/her a few pieces of your mind. Honestly I find some really amusing characters here that do want people to talk (like one funny dude that was referring to my having sex with my wife as fornication) but one just has to add on the self restraint. It could go to places we never knew could be reached.

So tpia, is there anyone you want to make amends with? Let's have your reconciliations.

Cheers
Christianity EtcRe: Mega Church Pastors That Fell For Adultery by teemy(m):
Given the right person, place and time, there is no one who cannot mess up, man or woman.

For the pastors usually, it starts with the 'Daughters in the Lord'. Someone whose life you are so interested in that you want that person to succeed and thus involve yourself in that person's life a great deal forgetting that attention yields to affection. With time one thing would lead to another and the rest is history.

I personally have a case like that where I cared for a lady like that but I always remind myself that there is no superman anywhere and so using an excuse to cause a fight, I distanced myself from her for a very long while. Later on I explained the real reason to her but now we both know where to draw the line as per our limits.

The belief of infallability is what makes the trap catch the prey because they refused to put in place guards to their hearts that they ought to have done being careful. Others would deny outrightly and probably shift the blame on you as someone who wants to soil their good name. It has been happening and will continue to happen to great men which leads to CEOs resigning, Presidents being shamed (Clinton and Lewinsky), Kings being put to flight (David and Bathsheba), Strong men crawling at the feet of their enemies (Samson and Delilah) .

Lastly let me top it with this quote

Every man has a Delilah, you need to discover yours and get rid of her before she starts plaiting your hair.

Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown. You need to be there to understand what goes on. However, success hath no excuse and so it is still a matter of if you have no business being there and cannot make great positive impact, just don't go there.

“Two, we have also been able to have on record, that whoever is going to emerge
as governor will not contest in 2015
and it has also been unanimously agreed that
because Adamawa Central has not been able to produce governor of the state
before, it is on record that the Presidency and the party have accepted that the
aspiration for the PDP nomination for 2015 will be strictly for contestants from
Adamawa Central. It is not negotiable.”

emmygzy: Nuhu ribadus political career is dead. Whoevers becomes the governor now will be the governor in 2015 because of the power of incubency. Ribadu is foolish for stepping down.
size38: Ribadu is finished politically. U see? We told him. Ribadu had every chance to contest and win under APC than the PDP where he was lured by GEJ and his PDP. PDP wants to deceive Ribadu twice. After deceiving him Adamawa guber ticket, now they are talking about 2015 election. There will be no guber election in 2015 again in Adamawa state after this election. Except for house of Assembly.
barcanista: Ribadu is politically naïve and not so intelligent contrary to what I first assumed. I predicted that PDP was out to embarrass Ribadu and make him politically worthless. Their candidate has always been Ahmed Gulak for a job well done as GSG cOordinator
Please read the OP's post all over again especially the bolded part I quoted. https://www.nairaland.com/newpost?topic=1888654

It was a wise decision of chosing to run for the 2015 Governorship election than run for less than a year in replacement of the impeached governor's tenure moreso, the acting governor is also running now. Just as Juman said,

juman: His stepping down make sense.
even I would chose the second option of four over one year.

Cheers

PoliticsRe: My Experience With SARS Operatives In Ibadan; Another SOKA In The Making! by teemy(m):
At the mouth of two or three witnesses, a testimony is established. Even in lies there is the element if truth else it would not be believed in the first case. A fellow I know was arrested by SARS oyo (for owing the complainant a debt - When did the police become debt collectors?) many years ago and recounted one event that seems to be common in several esperiences posted here. When they were in the cell and the officers come around and pick out some of the inmates, the others burst into wailing. Upon asking what was the reason he was told they were taken to be killed. If indeed there would be an investigation on this, past events could be gotten from former detainees from the log books and let them collaborate these stories if indeed sanity and credibility is to be restored.

A drama like the above scenario was when the detained leader of Boko Haram was killed in prison and nothing happened to the seven officers until a year later when the bombings started. The rest they say is history. I wonder what the story about those seven cops is now.

I am not sure if these cops undergo psychological evaluation to ensure their worthiness in carrying guns. I watch foreign movies where if a cop gets engaged in a shootout and kills a man even rightly, he still undergoes Internal Affairs checkup to ensure he is fit to go back to active duty not to talk of those who 'regularly' encounter robbers and the like routinely.

It is a good show that the police force has responsive contact numbers for each state on their site. One thing I recommend further is to ensure a central reporting structure where citizens are made to confirm that should they be detained, they are logged in and out upon release with their full awareness else they have the right to turn the police station upside down as they could be set for the journey of no return.

For example I recollect a case of when I was at Oshodi lagod over a decade ago where the cops kept me from making calls to my parents, detained my video games (when in fact I was telling them I purchased one quite close to the station) and bundled me into the station. I guess it was the fact that the cell was cramped was what made me not to be placed there. My offence - carrying video games without receipt (God help you if you had a laptop). One thing I noticed was that inside Oshodi market was another market : The Nigerian Police Station PLC Oshodi branch. No matter what you just had to drop something. Upon my strongheadedness at long last I had to give the cops ₦500 and on my own volition gave the inmates at the cell ₦200.

There was no one to report to, no strict monitoring by relevant bodies, no way to enforce my rights (I was at one police station where a policeman was telling a man "So you want to claim your rights abi?". Where better else should his rights be protected if not at a police station?).

Are cops there to deprive people of their rights or will this new IG bring an end to the menace of the boys in black or will it still be extortion as usual? Time will tell and the courts will tell.

The airline should have made suitable transport to the terminal since the situation was noted. Caring for the passengers that way would have gone a long way rather than letting them move from an airplane and into sea water.
