@ temas ...na govt pikin abi... so e no dey pay tax n e dey get jobs to do 24 7 abi.. chabuchabu abi ..u know what that means ...the thing is , so many of us came here with the intention of studying while we work and settle our bills by ourselves ..fine , some people have parents and family members that can support them throughout their stay abroad while some don't have. now i am speaking for a whole lot of people who dont have that opportunity u know.Yes o yes ... it's a good place for those who have come here to study because the educational standard here is far better than what we have in Nigeria be it private or public.. i have Cypriot Turkish news papers here in my house i always get from my landlady called Afrika. ''check the newspaper out'' and see for yourself the kind of discrimination and racism we have always frowned against and that's what the newspaper portrays..One good thing about this place is a place that is very good and encouraging for people with good handiwork and that applies to everyone country all over the world ..not only Cyprus..I have since considered learning hairdressing and i have started also since that's what is selling here now...loooool!!!I understand Turkish a bit but not as much as to read their newspapers always published in their local language. Thanks to this place again for letting us get visas easily to other european countries cos most embassies here don't get to see people traveling often so they are always happy to grant visas as long as your traveling reasons are genuine.
@ademola correct.... you too can make it here if u study hard forget racism its everywhere in the world..if ur sch is EMU,pm penroll. he is a good guy. u guys can make things happen. are u a man or a woman(just curious hairdresser things lol) anyway glad u are making Good use of the environment.@Penroll i need to do that to encourage some pple.. pardon me

Ademola.A:
Like i said earlier , i am not here to argue with you on this issue ..anyone inspiring to come here should think twice before starting the processing because agents and whosoever them call themselves will always lie to you that there is this and that in northern Cyprus. All these blabbing are all lies. Cyprus has nothing good to offer if you are a very enthusiastic youth who's willing to aspire something worthwhile in life.I leave the choice for you to decide because ''A word they always say is enough for the wise ".and @ people trafficking drugs here ..i haven't heard of anyone been caught for drug trafficking in Northern Cyprus or may be i am not in that league of drug trafficking to know who has been caught for such offences or related offenses.Word..The truth be told!!!
Was thinking not to contribute but i need to cos of the stuff written above.
1.depending our ur aspiration(s),if you are not detemined, even if u go to heaven u wont make them happened. many pple came abroad thinking its their fathers backyard, money fall on trees and all that.if you number one goal is to study then coming to north cyprus isnt bad.have been opportune to know little about penroll and meet some pple here on this forum...Ademola,penroll na Govt pikin for here ooo so mind ur words .. (just kiding). He came and conquer. u cant hussle to make a living here but u can Read to make a living(case study penroll, myself, roomate and even my oga for here). If north cyprus isn't providing you with what u expected abegiiiii go back naija . we are too much here self.

2. Ademola try to learn Turkish and read paper,You dnt have to be in the league of drug traffickers before you know what is happening in ur environment.them dey catch them here oooooo. enough said. the police here no be naija police ooo. say no to drug and yahoo yahoo.naija boys with misplaced priorities dey spoil our name for here....

sholex020: @wip7, i graduated with higher national diploma in computer science and will like to do my masters in computer science, i want to know if emu accept HND to master programs.
let me help answer this...... NO!! you cant do Msc with HND in EMU......even with Bsc 3.0 cgpa wont get you admission in some faculties(engineering).. my 2cent... if you are financially ok and really want to study, apply as an undergraduate, come along HND transcript, present your transcript during registration, and get most of your courses exempted.. u might be lucky to have just 3 semesters to do and get ur Bsc, then u can do ur masters... sch is happy, you are happy...... yeepeeee.....by the way,na oga wip faculty be that....he might have more info for you but not in town now. u might need to wait for sometime for him to reply.

emzzry: hi every1....i just wanted to ask if transfer is possible to emu or i should just start afresh
Yes transfer is possible...but the thing is you have to get admission like a fresher, then when u get admitted and all that u bring ur transcript along and those courses you took before that relates to the courses u might take in EMU will be exempted....Oga wip7 might throw more light on this...

penroll55: You can book one way ticket with turkish airlines and have no problem in instanbul or ercan but most times Nigeria immigration officers use it as means to extort money from first time travelers. So the only place you might have a problem is in Nigeria Airport but if u are sharp and smart you will go with it without giving them anything cus its none of their concern if you going with one way or not.
So if you dont plan going back soon then one way is okay for the smart ones though but if you dont have mind or scared easily when threaten then buy at least a month return ticket and you can cancel the ticket and request for refund of the return ticket and turkish airline will give you back.
That is if the ticket is refundable(check with the airline if the ticket u buying is refundable cos some arent)..... the price difference between one way and return isn't that much, so y disturb urself abt one way. like penroll55 said if u arnt lucky with naija immigration(with one way ticket) hmmmm u will buy return ticket again at the airport and they will still extort you......

let me give some clue here for first time travelers abt refund ticket (Turkish air)..

1.Its best to buy a refundable return ticket with ur naija master card (if accepted on their site). otherwise go to their sales office and buy with the master card. dnt pay cash.. this way when u cancel ur return ticket here in kibris, u will have to call Turkish airline Istanbul and to cancel ur return ticket and ask for refund... the money will b sent to ur MasterCard account bingo!!

2. If you pay with cash in their sales office (e.g lagos adeola odeku vi). Ask the sales person u need the ticket with refund.Go with any of ur relative and tell them he / she will be the one to process the refund on ur behave..
In kibris, cancel ur ticket at lefkosa sales office, ask for refund. they will scan ur ticket , int passport, identification of the person to collect the refund in Nigeria(e.g ur relative, friend), application letter written by you for refund, stating the name of the person and the mode of identification. these will be sent to Nigeria and your relative will follow up with the Lagos sales office. trust me this process is hell.....(My case)

3.Buy from a reliable agent. most agent has a commission on return ticket not used!(sorry for bursting ur bubbles) they will make ur life difficult to get ur refund. a friend got his ticket from wakanow.com (nt sure of the name) and he was able to get his refund.. but hell...

These are all i can remember for now... yeepa my beans oooooooo

its nt true bro/sis.......its just that for 1st timer, its HIGHLY recommended you travel with turkish Air....
1. cos its a straight flight from lagos/abuja()(recently flying from abuja i guess) to istanbul.
2.no case of missing luggage.
3.not more than 6hrs waiting at the airport(istanbul) for transit.(if u try other airlines , they will take u to their home country 1st before flying to istanbul then connect u to Ercan).this might be hell on earth for 1st time travelers but if u wish to knw more countries, well ur choice.

princetoochi: Hello Teemas, you sounds as if you are a graduate student, please, I need ur advice on this, for a graduate student coming to study to make better grade to proceed with his phd in another country, how do you think the person can survive without receiving his stipend from Nigeria but the person is not into drinking, carrying women, partying and other clubbing spending ,excluding his tuition fees and accommodation for period of his studies, how much do u think can carry the person all through his stays in Emu, what about you do your sponsor send you money from Nigeria, how do you cope there
Yea i am a Grad student in EMU.As for your Question,Depending on the number of semesters(years) your program might takes, and excluding tuition, accommodation and all other stuffs u mentioned above like clubbing and all that.let me make an example from my experience, i spend less than 10k per month after settling down. When u come down here, u might spend up to 16k($100) before u get used to the terrain. As per sponsor sending money, i dnt have a sponsor! in other words self -sponsored... but mind you broda i did my home work well before i left the shore of nigeria. i made a budget of 1yr for my feeding and accommodation and paid all tuition. Lucky me due to my Work experience and all that (Dnt ask me what job experience) i was able to get a Grad student Assistant-ship position with the school IT dept.Money not much but the experience worth it. i dnt have any regrets coming to EMU.dnt have it at the back of ur mind that u can get job to pay tuition fee or accommodation (its not impossible). but for feeding u will survive if you sabi cook!!

benson3788: Is off-shore charge included on the specified amount payable to EMU? Should one add more $dollars$ to the school fee specified for off-shore charge OR has the school included it in the school fee?
i think you have to include it..... it was like $15 when i came(sent my fees through Gtbank).
