I want to stress here that VO are tired of hearing about online research for school. How many school can you truly research online? Every sch online will sell itself. Wouldn't you if you had a school. Therefore online details is a very bias means of choosing a school. You would probably be deceived and frustrated once you get to the school.

One good way to find out about the school is past experiences of students and staff of the school who are by themselves experience the school. So telling VO that a formal senior or brother of yours attended the school and told you of the numerous opportunities the school offers and saying he found employment immediately he got back to nigeria because of his acquired skill sets is a good way to impress the VO. You could say he was elevated to senior position because of his contribution to his workplace six months after returning from us.

Notice I always tie my answer to nigeria because of home ties. I cannot over emphasize the importance of that.

On why you choose the course, stop saying the curriculum or class ratio. Most school in US has same structure of curriculum. Why? They all research into best structure of curriculum and they virtually turn up with same curriculum. However, current research differs per university. So ur attraction to a named researched by prof so so will be apt for you to mention. Go further to say you are in touch with the prof. If you have a good sat or GRE score. Chip in that he was happy with your CV and GRE score.

See? You are the one leading the interview. At this stage, he would be interested in your score. VO would be impressed.

I do my tithing and First fruit regularly and I can tell you I have never regretted it before so many many testimonies.

I have learnt to stop arguing about it.

There are a lot things God has done for me and used me to do that are strange, thay are more of the old testament kimda prophetic kind of things but I decided to keep to my self cos when you talk about people look like what is these guy talking about. And start to argue. So I don't talk about it.

I'm a committed and ardent follower of this thread. Please I need your guidance @nnamdiosu, charlyG1, analice, vooks, oyelude and others.
First, I'm newly born in Christ (2 months plus) though fast growing by His grace. I know that there are a lot I need to learn, and so, I am committed to reading my Bible and asking older soldiers.
The issue is this. My dad suddenly fell ill (stroke like) and cannot walk, plus slurred speech. Later, he was diagnosed to have a growth in his cerebellum, but before the result came out I prayed against surgery and when it came out, same was recommended. So I went back to Him who holds the key to life for I know that my dad won't go under a knife for he is healed already, spiritually.
I prayed God that whenever I'm travelling to see him, I'll be travelling for Thanksgiving and not the otherwise. Yesterday, my mum called and said that he recorded "60 percent improvement" in her words. I spoke wth him, his speech was firm on phone.
My spirit has been troubling me to go down to my village and conduct a prayer. Well, I have finally decided to do so, but I have some concerns.
I have no companion, I will be going alone.
What should I expect?
Nobody, even my extended family, is currently in the village.
I have never done a thing like this before and there are past revelations of buried charms and diabolism by a dead relative (who said i was her husband's reincarnate). I've already broken every link and prayed against any sought of covenant etc.
Need I physically go down there?
I am already in transit to my state to see my parents in the city. Not that I am afraid but I need insight and guidance from my "elders".

Again, in my first week of prayer, I dreamt of when I was clearing grasses in the village and my dad was passing with a frnd. He greeted/discussed with me ( he was limping a bit).
About five days ago, I had a dream when an old woman from my mum's side took me to the back of my g'mum's house and gave me black bag filled with gifts wrapped in black nylons. I kept it in the house, someone/smth instructed me to throw it away, which I did. I woke up into another level of dream and was telling my aunt of the dream. she started scolding me that I shouldn't have collected the bag. I told her to calm her nerves until she hears what I did last, then I woke up fully.
I also dreamt yesterday of killing a centipede and saving a kid from falling off a cliff.
Can someone help me also with the interpretation of any. Thanks.

I think I started the topic on speaking in tongues because I was a little curious about not falling prey to false tongues. Even though I have been giving this a thought I never prayed for the tongues. Something happened yesterday as I was praising and praying at midnight. As I was praying and quoting scriptures I felt the urge of speaking in tongues, it was building up in my mind and more like a momentum wanting to burst out, I was scared as not to start speaking false tongues but I felt the urge within me building up and I quenched it.
So please brethren I need advice.

Ur case is a chronic spirit husband and spirit husband like marine spirits is a very stubborn spirit to deal with.

Now, These is not to make you afraid but to let you know, that these guy has made your life miserable enough.

These is what I would recommend.

1. Give your life to christ
2. Flee from any thing that can tamper with purity
3. Begin to destroy every legal ground the enemy has over your life and the legal ground he has found or using to oppress you by the blood of Jesus
4. Begin to request for mercy.. that God should have mercy on you.
5. Then go to prayer city on a monday morning and do deliverance.. Take along ur tissue paper, anointing oil, not attachments and dress well
6. I would encourage you to do full week deliverance and if you can go on the week there is weekend deliverance do full week and end with weekend.
7. Discuss with the ministers there and God would surprise you..

N.B why I recommended prayer city is because of concentration.

Obviously from your reply you have not given any cogent way of knowing that a tongues is gibberish. If you say because someone does not interpret is tongues then he is speaking gibberish then am sorry to say you wrong..

Apostle Paul just encouraged us to avoid speaking in tongues in the church without interpretation cause the Church is not been edifed by it.. Now that been said.. I would like us to know that

1. Baptism of the holy ghost is not 1 plus 1

2. No body can tell me a man is a saying gibberish based on the kind of tongues he speaks except the holy spirit tells you so. And the only evidence my Bible tells me that a man is filled with the holy spirit is speaking in tongues.

3. Everyone's encounter with God is different, So you can't compare how God works with you with how he does with another man

4. That a man does not remember his encounter with God on how he speaks in tongues does not nullify his baptism or make it fake.

5. There are some people who already baptised and because of fear and doubt they have not been able to speak in tongues

6. Every man should read his Bible whatever it tells you and whatever you believe in, do it and it will work for you...

7. If you learnt your tongues go and ask God for forgiveness and ask for the genuine one but if you didn't learn and you got it like some of us did then you are good to go.. make sure you dont quench it..

Dazzle dear. There are diverse kinds of Tongues, as evidenced in Acts of the Apostle chp 2, on the day of Pentecost. These Tongues, we saw God. Speaking to the people present, in their various languages using the voices of the Apostles. This is the sign that apostle Paul talked about, that Tongues are a sign to unbelievers not for believers. This sign is to cause them to be mazed and curious to want to know more.

1Cor.14:22. Wherefore Tongues are for a sign, not to them that belive but to them that belive not...
These Tongues, God can speak directly to me, using your mouth, but speaking my native mother tongue. Or speaking a language only one person in the congregation can recieve the interpretation. That's a special message, being passed through to me.
BUT, the gift of Tongues, every believer receives to authenticate our Brethrenwood in the Holy Ghost.
Every believer ought o speak to God directly. Paul says, when we do this, we do not speak to man but to God. And when we speak in Tongues, we could be inrervening for someone without knowing.
My dear, God can use you as a vessel to pass a message to someone who came to church for the first time. That's from God to man, eg. What happened on the day of Pentecost. Or you as a believer, speaking to God directly using the language of Angels.

Let me tell you what happened to me once.
An elderly woman walked into my house one day, and told me to stop praying loudly. That as I pray loudly people hear what I say and the wicked can counter my prayers. She said, witches are listening to what I say, so for them to be kept in the dark, I shd pray silently. I wasn't close to her, for her to have come to my house to tell me that, I decided to pray quietly. But I had a dream, and God asked me a question in that dream with regards to that. Let me not go into that here.
When we speak in Tongues, the enemy listening to counter your prayers is at a lose. He dons't understand what you are saying, he is not privy to that.

As a baby in the experience, i will like to support the answer. my praying in Tongue start manifesting on Jan 28, this year, for just few second less than 2min, reason being that am burden by my prayer point an wanted God to hear my English *smile*.

The second time was Feb 8, that was after my prayer, just doing thanks giving, suddenly the tongue changes, i continued for less than 5 min and i deliberately cut out. since then notting happen again.

Because what Analice107 shared on one of my thread, I beg the Holy Spirit to take control and not to let me go until he is done with me [ I know say Him no go kill me na], but nothing happen since then.

But t yesterday during a 6am morning prayer with a brother, almost at the end of the prayer, what I,ve been expecting came, i continue for less than 4 min, and stop so as not to distract our prayer session.

After the Sunday Worship service, while everyone is gone, i stayed back in church to see what my master is going to do, it was so wonder, for the 1 hour plus i used in prayer, the utterance was just coming till i stop praying, even though, in few moment i feel to express myself in English, the utterance prevail, after few English word

Later in our evening program, its was not difficult for me to prayer in the tongue, the utterance just come automatically as long as i wanted pray in tongue.

This evening, "Heveanly father, i thank you " was the only English word i started by prayer with, the rest The spirit took control, i cant say how long i pray sha - Glory to God my father.

It so sweet, the utterance sounded like a very innocent child's tone

That's the idea... The more you pray in tongues the better you become and I pray what God has started in your life he would accomplish in the name of Jesus.

Brother, you didn't get my point. As for the brother or sister I painted receiving the Holy Ghost Baptism when he or she believes, is sure. But the picture I painted is before repentance not after. When a child is born he/she learns everything. You don't learn Tongues. You don't practise Tongues. If you do, then you are not baptized in the Holy Ghost. because if you are, it comes instantaneously. You don't start by saying tatayayayaya Manama Kalakaua. You just flow.
If a believer is baptized by in the Holy Ghost, and his Tongues are tatayayayaya a, mamamamamakakakaka. Then that's his Tongues. My Tongues are not your Tongues.
When I speak in Tongues, I sound like I speak Arabic. I don't like Arabic language because it sounds confrontational and forceful to me. But that's how I sound. I have tried changing it, I can't.
I have a Catholic upbringing, I didn't realise how much that affected my total release to the Holy Spirit. When I eventually did, it was on Sunday evening around 10pm. I had desired it for long, but I thought I was suppose to feel a sensation like a electric current going through me. But that night, more than ever before, I wanted to be one with God. I only heard a voice I my spirit saying, you are ready? and I said audibly, Yes. And the voice said,start talking. I just obeyed and wanted to pray my normal prayers, but I was hearing my voice, as though someone else was using my voice to speak a strange language. That was it. No practise, nothing. For two hours, I couldn't stop. I kept trying to say Amen with my normal words, it was amen I was saying, but I to Tongues. My spirit had to ask God to help me stop, before I could stop.

What am I trying to say is. Am not referring to the state of a believer but a state of an unbeliever still under the influence of the Adamic nature, who bables words. Those are not Tongues, but gibrish. An unbeliever can't be baptised in the Holy Ghost nah.

Some people have the gift of helping people connect and get charged easily or with hassles..

Let give you an example, there are people who would lead praise and worship and the whole atmosphere would be electrified and it would be like wow and some would lead and nothing happens.

From my example if you are in the congregation of the first you would see that your connection would be easy and fast in short you would br marvelled at some of the things you will do in services like that..

If you are in the no 2 it wo would take additional effort from you to get to the where you wanna be..

Some have the gift, some grow to that level.

I believe before any Satanist speak in their tongues there must be a "rite of passage" before that level is opened to him/her. (seeing as Satan copies everything God does).
The rite of passage for Christians is Repentance, Santification, justification, I want to say the Baptism by water baptism by and in the Holy Spirit is Glorification. because it's puts you in a place where you can communicate to God with His own language. I don't believe everybody in church can speak it. Why? I mentioned, repentance, sanctification, justification and then glorification.(my thought though). If I were a church goer who is in church because I was born into church, without any personal encounter with Christ. I live my life just like everyday person. I smoke, drinks anyhow, club, quarrel and fight if need be. Very unforgiving and malicious in nature. Speak against pastors, criticise church doctrines, doubt testimonies, call fellow believers names. I don't see anything wrong in keeping numerous relationships. I brazenly lie, A. A. M. O.F., I operate fully under the Adamic nature. But I run my mouth when asked to speak in tongues in church, I don't think that what am speaking will be termed as Tongues. I think it will be Gabrish. because, without being Baptised in the Holy Ghost, the evidence which is Speaking in Tongues won't be made manifest. And the character I painted above, won't be born again, and won't, the Holy Spirit, I don't believe can inhabit a vessel that dirty.

You hear something like this, mamamamakishaptototorotot, kakakabububu turonumukukikikittatatammaamamamama. When you hear Holy Ghost induced Tongues, they should sound like the speaker is speaking a foreign language. Not a repetition of consonant/vowel sounds. That will be gibrish. That won't be speaking to God, that will be exercising the vocal cords.
Just like, you can't speak the satanic language without going through their rite of passage, so also you can't speak to God without receiving the Baptism in the Holy holy ghost. Thats our rite of passage.

What am trying to say is... A man would bear fruits with time... Look the Bible says when I was still in sin christ came to redeem us.. Now, even in his sin, Jesus already died for him, all he needs to do is key into it. Now when he forsakes that sin/habits some he can't leave immediately, some he will immediately. With time he will drop all..

Have you not seen pastors who are champions and God called them and filled with the holy ghost and still struggle in one or two sins.. It is because we are all carnal and no one is perfect. But with time all those fruit thay that are required of him with definitely manifest...

Now to the atatataakakaaka....when a baby is born and he start learning to speak.. there are times they begin to mem and say one syllable words, like papa and the likes..but with time they begin to speak well..

What am I trying to say is these ma, That a person says tatata kakaka repeatedly does not mean he is not speaking in tongues, there are levels in these things, but when you continue to speak taa for more than a period of time like months then ypu need to go back for a refill, cos we are all suppose to grow spiritually as we grow physically, we should get better...

We May disagree but Holy Ghost Baptism is not Salvation or Sanctification experience, that only requires us to received by faith and we believing that yes am save, am sanctified by His grace and we keep growing. Holy Ghost Baptism come with power and we cannot hide it [ask Peter or Stephen if am lying ], remember i stated in my earlier post: ...the fruit of the spirit were the true nature of Christ recreated in the life of a Spirit filled Christian. and the Holy Ghost Himself is 3rd Personality in the Godhead, so if you have Him [The Holy GHost] you have Jesus in you as well He is the one that will recreate himself in us. I also believed that we dont develop these fruit one after the other, they come at once with the Holy Ghost Baptism, prior to that our life is already prepared for Him, that is the nature of sin as less to zero influence on us (so we wont be messing around like samson )

At time a once Baptised Christian may have lost it, thats why there fruit will be missing in their live. In my own case [not very far] I soon as I confirm and believed to have received the experience I started praying for fullness of the fruit of the spirit, speaking in tongue was not my top priority, there are better Koinoinia

The only answer i can give to your Question is : The person MUST have it, i cant doudt that, Holy Ghost Baptism is not just for speaking Tongue alone but for us fulfil God's purpose for our life

The bible verse yoi quoted is not about speaking in tongues, that is when the spirit of the lord is upon you..

The spirit of the Lord been upon means you have the license to speak in tongues but it does not mean you are speaking in tongues.

That is why a man can be filled with the spirit and not speak in tongues.

Speaking in tongues is an evidence of baptism.. Note the word EVIDENCE. That means if you are not sure you have the holy spirit by speaking in tongues. It has been confirmed beyond reasonable doubt you have it.

Now, when a man becomes born again, it is spirit that becomes born again, which means all the other desires of the flesh are still there but with constant fellowship and guidance with the holy spirit he becomes a better person. A man get born again today receive baptism today.. Does that mean he will automatically stop all the desires of the flesh.. No, that why there is whay we call follow up in churches., someone is assign to the person to encourage the person and the likes so that the person can get better, its not automatic, it is learnt and beared.

The part of a pastor telling to speaking in tongue, once you havr the baptism you already under the influence of the holy spirit, You carry the power already so when he say begin to oray in the holy ghost, your spritman is activated and the holy sprit begin to give you utterance. And it all depends on your level of growth for some until the atmosphere is charged they can't5 speak in tongues. Why some even if the atmosphere idps not charge they will charge it with there tongues..

Speaking/Praying in tongue is the evidence of Holy Ghost baptism, but it is also accompany with wisdom and knowledge so as to have understanding of the scriptures and many other things. personally I cant tell how people get the gift of Tongue, but I tell when someone is faking tongue.

Speaking/praying in tongue is not to be learn or taught the The Teacher/Master Holy Spirit will gift you your own tongue. I discover mine in prayer and the language is so different from many Tongue that I have being hearing, I wish to know which language is that [b]

Now to know if a Tongue is genuine: someone who claim to be Baptised in Holy Ghost must have ALL the fruit of the Spirit as stated in Gal 5v22-24.[/b]

I am curious. How does one undergo Holy Ghost baptism? I have read books where hardcore satanists(with the help of demons) can manipulate one into speaking in false tongues, the ignorant Christians think they are baptized with the Holy Ghost. I am very cautious as I don't want to just speak in any gibberish language thinking I am speaking in tongues.
I believe one has to be baptized with the Holy Ghost to speak in tongues. There is a trend where a pastor tells members to speak in tongues
willingly. Are these members already baptized with the Holy Ghost that they go on a spree of speaking in tongues?
In my own understanding I think one has to be under the influence of the Holy Ghost to speak in tongues.

A pastor telling you to pray in the holy ghost has not done anything wrong.. if you have the baptism with the evidence of speaking in tongues you would know.. they no dai plan tongues... As the spirit gives utterance you speak...

1. Yes prophetic ministry is a feature in Christianity, Apostle paul told us about the 5 ministry gift given to help grow and edify the Church. Bible ref :1 cor 12

2. Yes, it is very real in the old testament, isaiah prophesied about the birth of Jesus Christ. Joseph had a dream about the famines of Egypt. Samuel prophesied to saul when he became king of how he will meet brother and what they wilk tell him and so on and so forth. Now I know you might wanna say what about the new testament, John the Baptist preached about the lord even when he haf not meet him, that is a foretelling or prophesy. As you like to call it.

3, For me, I have told danki nobody has the final say, even the prophet who are the mouth piece of God dont have it. Only God has it. A prophet can tell you A and if you don't want it you to God and he will send the prophet back and tell him to tell you its not longer A. Remember the case of Hezekiah and Ahab.. What am saying is, Only danki can find answers to his issues, but first let him know his stand with God, the is no one that is beyond redemption if they want to be saved. I would advise let him know his stand with God, make him chop fire first, then what ever he is kead to do for his ex he can do it. Dealing with marine issues is not beans though it is God that does the deliverance we are just vessels in his hands. Even at that he needs to train him self get enough spiritual stamina and he will be able to carry out his assignments well. If you sure it is him that sent you, He will back you up. But if it is not him you would be regret it.. Mediate on Daniel 2 with a neutral mind so that he can show himself to you and give you answers to the questions you ask.

Do you have an evidence do you speak in tongues, if you do, I would encourage yoi to pray in tongue regularly.

It makes your spiritual growth faster, charges you and as well helps you pray the prayers you need and not the one you want.

So many of you are misunderstanding me and maybe my dreams. God never makes mistakes with what he tells me in my dreams. He never speaks to me in parables so that I won't have any reason to say I didn't understand.
Just like 2 days ago, I dreamt of a childhood friend of mine in a very sad state. He was staring at me like someone who needs help/advice from me but I didn't bother to walk up to him to find out what he's going through. Simply because he likes feeling big when we were growing up. Just last night, I got a sad news that he lost his youthful wife. Could I have helped her if I had dropped my pride and stubbornness and called him immediately after the dream?

The pastor got her hooked in real life by preaching the real words of God to her. Then, they used that avenue to track her. Same thing in the dream but the difference is that instead of being carried away by the flesh, she is hooked to the words of God. And that was why the pastor sneaked out through the back door to confront me. Meaning, the girl is now paying more attention to the words of God more than required.
The Bible study and preaching was genuine but the preacher had a malicious intent and that was why I called him out.

Please speak for yourself, cos reuniting or lusting after her is NOT the issue here. Disobedience to God is my issue.

And please, don't bother about my soul. We should bother more about the afflicted except they are irredeemable like most of us here believe.
