Prof. Umar Danbatta, who is currently the Executive Vice Chairman of Nigeria Communication Commission NCC, said the commission will soon review the interconnection charges for voice services which has been on ground since 2013. Danbatta who was represented by the Director of Policy Competition and Economic Analysis, Mrs. Josephine Amuwa, said this on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 in Abuja at a “Stakeholder’s Forum on Cost Based Study’’ for the purpose of mobile voice termination rate. According to him, the reason is based on the current market dispensation. He said that the commission had carried out a thorough cost study and have determined to review the current interconnection rates for voice services which had been on the rail since April 1, 2013. According to him, since the last determination, the country’s communication market has seen incredible growth in both subscriber numbers and traffic volumes. “The sector has witnessed changes in available technologies and other network elements, including global financial markets which have an impact over inputs such as cost of capital. “The scale of changes will inevitably affect the unit cost of providing services, including interconnection and may lead to differences between regulated interconnection rates and underlying costs. “This in turn may result in differences between on-net and off net retail tariffs. “It is very important we ensure that interconnection services are not only fairly priced and non-discriminative, but should reflect the cost providing such services in the market. He also, “It is in this regard that the commission has decided to review the rates set in its 2013 determination in the light of current market realities.” According to him, the study delivers the chance to meticulously examine the emergence of grey market activities in the telecoms industry in Nigeria. “Such as call refilling, call masking, and sim-box fraud as a result of the introduction of an interim International Termination Rate for Inbound International traffic.’’ To this end, the commission carried out a thorough selection process and appointed Messrs’ Price ewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PWC) to among other things “carry out an impact assessment on the subsisting interconnect regime. “Identify shortfalls on the subsisting interconnection rate regime and provide workable solutions. “Determine if there is need to have different termination rate for National/Domestic and international traffic. “Determine the Mobile Termination Rate for voice services using appropriate cost modeling techniques for New Entrant(s)/Small Operators and Existing /Big Operators. “Determine the appropriate basis for Glide Path (if necessary); Develop a suitable definition of a New Entrant (s) /Small Operator to enjoy the benefits of asymmetric rates.’’ Danbatta said that with respects to the commission’s principle of guaranteeing participatory regulation, the stakeholders’ forum was only to formally introduce the project consultant to the industry stakeholders, but also to start the project. “You will agree with me that the supply of industry statistical data is most critical to the success of determining appropriate interconnection termination rates for the telecommunication industry. “Therefore, your prompt response in providing accurate date will be invaluable. “The commission has an obligation to create a level playing field for all operators, and in line with international standard practice, NCC shall ensure that interconnect rates reflect the cost of termination on the networks." http://www.tellforceblog.com/2017/02/ncc-to-review-interconnection-rates.html |
Just when Nokia is about waking up from very a deep and lengthy sleep, Blackberry is looking for a way to give it another doze of hypnotic drugs. Why? Blackberry has accused Nokia of continual usage of its technology without getting approval thus filing a patent infringement lawsuit against Nokia. It claimed that some Nokia products like radio network controllers, Flexi Multiradio base stations and liquid software are making use of some patients that belongs to blackberry. Precisely, the lawsuit includes products and services that use LTE networks, like T-Mobile and AT&T in the United States. According to Blackberry, it acquired some of those patients in question way back in 2011 as a member of a group that bought Nortel’s patents for $4.5billion after the company went bankruptcy. Nokia actually made attempt in buying these patents in 2009 before Notel’s bankruptcy proceedings came up. The suits reveals that BlackBerry is in quest of compensation from Nokia for this illegal use of their technology, but the suit does not point out how much in damages the company wish to get from Nokia. http://www.tellforceblog.com/2017/02/nokia-sued-by-blackberry-for-patent.html

History had it that the first cell phone was the Motorola DynaTac which was released back in the year 1984 and was considered a feature phone if we are to use the recent standard for classifications of mobile phones in terms of feature and smartphones. Smartphones was introduced the mid-1990s but was made popular by Blackberry incorporation (then research in motion, RIM). Feature phones became so popular in the early 2000s, all thanks to Nokia and Motorola brands that produced best-selling feature selling phones. Recall that Nokia 3310 sold more than 100 million units in year 2000. The introduction of Symbian OS by Nokia, iOS by Apple Inc (around 2007), Android by google and other OS(s) brought the thought to many that the end of feature phone may be at the corner but they all seems to be wrong because feature phone may leave forever. One of the major factors that may elongate the use of feature phones is just SIMPLICITY, easy to use in terms of navigation (some even have dedicated button for some services). They also very RUGGED, screen does not break easily especially those in smaller sizes with physical button... According a research carried out by University College London and Cardiff University, Continual blows to the head may perhaps lead to dementia later in life. This definitely means footballers may likely be exposed to this to long-term brain damage due to frequent blows to or sometimes kicks on the head. The research said that constant heading of heavy balls may expose players at risk of developing this type brain diseases in later life. According to BBC, in response to this research, the Football Association has promised to investigate this claim. The research was conducted in alliance between University College London and Cardiff University, involving the examination of six footballers who had played for an average of 30 years. In post-mortems it was learnt that all six football players developed dementia later in their lifetime, while four revealed signs of chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE. "When we examined their brains at autopsy we saw the sorts of changes that are seen in ex-boxers, the changes that are often associated with repeated brain injury which are known as CTE,” Professor Huw Morris told the BBC. "So really for the first time in a series of players we have shown that there is evidence that head injury has occurred earlier in their life which presumably has some impact on them developing dementia." The study has been made available in the journal Acta Neuropathologica. http://www.tellforceblog.com/2017/02/study-links-footballers-to-brain-damage.html |

Unfortunately for me, I do not know any of her relatives. We only met on a social media dating site, Badoo about a year ago. As I woke up, I rushed straight to meet with the receptionist and gateman to ask for her whereabouts, that was when I realized my car had been taken away too. “They told me someone came to pick the car for her. The second one was an ‘End of Discussion’ Honda Accord and thirdly, Volkswagen Passat, 2001 model. I moved that too all night to Sapele. “I was introduced to her in 2016 by her elder brother, who worked as clearing and forwarding agent. I was told she needed the assistance of a good driver to take to Warri. I later met her in Ajah where I helped took a Toyota Camry to Sapele. “About four months later, she summoned me to GRA Ikeja. She gave me a Honda Accord (End of Discussion) to help her collect fuel from his brother at Wawa, Ogun State. I took the fuel and returned the car. She then told me that she has gotten another driver to take her. She gave me N5,000 and I left. He also said, “The last vehicle is the one that has created crisis for me. Although, I have been wondering where she has been getting these cars but she told me that she hired them from Delta whenever she comes to Lagos, and that a driver brought her to Lagos and returned to Delta. I didn’t know she steals cars”. A source disclosed that she had started processing custom papers for the vehicle through the his brother, Mukoro Okpako two days earlier before her arrest. Yeah! We are waiting for two great phones, LG G6 and Galaxy S8. Though, LG G6 will be pipping S8 in terms of release date (official date - Feb 26). This was as a result of using the Snapdragon 821 instead of the 835. So throw it out before S8 occupy the whole space, nice move. Alot has been heard and in fact rumours are still flying around about this Galazy S8 since the sudden demise of Note 7 which cost Samsung alot of its reputation. Now, another leak released by the popular Evan Bass, telling us that we have a larger S8, that is Galaxi S8+. All thanks to an official logo shared by Evan Bass. Just like its precious S-editions, Galaxy S7 and S6, we have been expecting Samsung to release two variants of the S8. We all know that the main difference between the two versions has always been the screen size. Recall, the past two S-editions featured something called 'edge' to differentiate the two versions. However, Samsung will ditch that mode of seperation because both S8 and S8+ are expected to feature curved, bezel-less displays. Wait!!! Samsung are yet to even name the larger version of S8, the 'S8 Plus', but according to Blass's latest leak, it shows that the 'plus' branding will feature the + symbol instead of having it spelled out. Afterall, that is never going to be an issue, Samsung's naming could be closer to our guess. Presently, all rumours are pointing towards the S8 featuring a 5.7-inch display and the S8+ with a 6-inch one. That's an increase in size when compared to last year's 5.1-inch and 5.5-inch displays on the S7 and S7 edge respectively, but the overall dimensions should be smaller than current 5.7-inch and 6-inch handsets due to the very minimal bezels that will be present. Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy S8 and S8+ later in March, and with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 CPU, curved, bezel-less screens, Bixby AI assistant, and a lot more. We are waiting it, just like a world cup final. http://www.tellforceblog.com/2017/02/the-larger-variant-of-galaxy-s8-will-be.html

I personally thought the mass infilteration of smartphones will automatically eliminate feature phones but I was wrong. No wonder Bloomberg reports shows that smartphone shipments in Africa declined by 5.2%. Finally if this could later become real, then smartphones needs to be smarter than present. Although, feature phone market share is decreasing day by day in the developed countries. On the other hand developing countries like India and Africa, it is increasing. Reports said, almost 65 percent of mobile phone users in India still make use feature phones. Rumors have been flying around like eagles for long about feature phones to be launched by Reliance Jio. Now a report has disclosed the image of the Reliance Jio upcoming feature phone. Phoneradar posted an image (first image of the phone from Riliance Jio) that shows the look, design and shortcut key setup of the new feature phone. However, name of the maker was not indicated but shortcut keys for Jio services such as Jio Live TV, Jio Music and MyJio apps were seen on it. It is a non-touch screen which makes a bit boring for me but its allowed because its a feature phone. It comes with dedicated tourchlight button, T9 keypad and D-pad in the middle of the phone. Now this is it, the phone support Reliance Jio 4G VoLTE. There has reports that company might launch a 4G VoLTE powered feature phone to increase its subscriber base in rural areas within Indian. And it can launch a feature phone with 4G VoLTE support as low as INR 999 only in India. A lot of Indians and foreigners still don’t use a smartphone in rural areas of India and still prefer a feature phone. This phone is just for such people. The new phone is said to be priced INR 1,299 in Indian, according a report. That is $20 equivalent. http://www.tellforceblog.com/2017/02/feature-phone-with-4g-lte-set-to-be.html |
A herdsman, Ahmed Dele has his head chopped off yesterday in Omu town, in Oye Local Government Area. This is happening just after just days a farmer head and hands were chopped off by same assailants in Orisunmibare, the same LG. Ahmed was allegedly got his head removed few kilometers from the town where his cattle were grazing. He was said to have been pursued by his assailants before killing him. Secretary Jamunati Fulbe Association of Nigeria, Ekiti State Chapter, Idris Salaudeen has confirmed this incident and also that the victim was a member of the association. He said, Dele, 26, a Fulani from Kwara State was declared missing by his boss, Jimoh Dele last Monday, after he failed to return home with his Cattle. Accordimg to him, the victim’s body was later discovered around 4.30 am in the bush, two kilometers away from the Omu town. Salaudeen disclosed that with this ugly incident has brought fear into many of members to go about with their legitimate business since they are yet to know the motive behind the gruesome killing of one of their members. He therefore beg Federal Government and security agencies to save the Fulani community from “unprovoked and unwarranted attack by unmasking the killers and bring them to justice.” “This is a very sad frightening development considering what the country is going through in terms of insecurity. There has been a lot of misconceptions and negative reports about the activities of Fulani herdsmen in recent time. But I want to tell you that we are peace loving people and we have been living peacefully with our various host communities in Ekiti State.” Still on the sad incident, the Olomu of Omu who is the traditional ruler of the community, Oba JA Ogundeyi described the incident as strange and condemnable. The monarch said the victim is peace loving individual who has been found wanting in his business and claimed that the whole community is mourning him. “The deceased is personally known to me in the Palace because he was a jovial person. Whenever he was going leading his cattle for grazing he would stop by and play with me. The whole community is very sad about this. Our community played host many tribes and ethnic groups and we have been living together peacefully.” Oba Ogundeyi said the palace in collaboration with the necessary stakeholders are already in action to investigate the reason for this gruesome act and call for calmness among the people of the town. http://www.tellforceblog.com/2017/02/tension-as-herdsman-beheaded-in-ekiti.html |
Since August 27, 1993 that the self-styled military President of Nigeria, Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, stepped down, he has not really been in the public like the his senior army counterpart, General Olusegun Obasanjo. An Award-winning film producer, Obi Emelonye announced his plans on producing a biographical movie on General Babangida which is alleged to be to titled 'Badamasi'. The Pre-production of the film is scheduled to commence from next month, March and will run till June, 2017. Emelonye has produced popular movies such as “ Last Flight to Abuja”, “ Oxford Gardens”, “The Mirror Boy” and “Onye Ozi”. While addressing the press earlier this week about the project, Emelonye said, “Badamasi” is a story of love, war, politics, violence, diplomacy, coups, corruption and governance laced with heavy dose of Machiavellian intrigue. Emelonye said, “The time has come for Nigerians to start telling their stories. This journey started in 2012 when I watched Mandela. As I watched it, I felt proud as an African. As Nigerians, we have several historical figures who haven’t been immortalized on the big and small screens for the world to see.” According to Emelonye, the project is to indirectly bring out some history of the rise of an ophan to a great military leader, define some controversial moments during his rule and some other military rulers; ranging from the civil war to several coups and a touch of the June 12 saga. “For so long, so many of these issues surrounding the IBB years have been shrouded in mystery and hearsay, remaining eventually unresolved. This has not been helped by the noble silence of the man himself since stepping aside from the highest office in the land. In a series of no-holds-bar interviews, IBB spoke, for the first time about these controversies. The result is some shocking perspectives and revelations that make this film a must watch for every Nigerian and indeed, every African.” Through this film, Nigerians will get to know a lot of unresolved, schemings and game of chess behind this great military leader that was also known as ‘Maradonna’ by the masses. Emelonye however admitted said that he’s aware of the controversy the movie will generate when it touches the cinema screen on October 1, 2017. According to the him, the film will unearth many of the ‘darkest’ events in the life of Babangida, including the ‘ June 12 saga’, the infamous ‘Gideon Okar coup’ among other burning issues that set IBB apart from other African leaders. Emelonye defines the project as “the most important film of his career so far” and approaches the project with a sense of responsibility, objectivity and artistic wholeheartedness. “ When I want to embark on his film, I looked at the story of General Yakubu Gown, Olusegun Obasanjo, President Mohammed Buhari and General Ibrahim Babangida. At the end, I settled for Babangida because his story is highly inspiring and still has historical relevance. This was in 2013, I know that a lot of things happened during IBB’s reign as Nigerian military leader which are still in the public domain till date. When I met him, I told him I’m making a film on a man called Badamosi, almost critical, almost objective about the man. And he replied; “May be, it’s time for me to speak,” Emelonye said. http://www.tellforceblog.com/2017/02/its-time-for-me-to-speak-ibb.html |
Recall in September, Google promised to release an app that will allow you to download clips from YouTube to your phone or Tablet for offline viewing. The name of the mobile app was called YouTube Go. To follow-up their pledge, Google has released the YouTube Go app in a beta form today. Please take note, it only available for Indian users only because of the country’s blotchier cellular coverage, sluggish carrier speeds, and expensive data buckets. The app is going to be tested with some selected downloadable videos, made for the local market, and you only chance for two choices in terms of quality options which are basic and standard - neither of the get to the level of HD definition. If you own a low storage capability, you will enjoy this app and really be grateful to Google for the introduction because the downloaded videos are pretty small. http://www.tellforceblog.com/2017/02/download-video-directly-on-your-android.html |
Religion in brief Religion is said to be defined as the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods. Wikipedia also stated the Religion is a cultural system of behaviors and practices, world views, sacred texts, holy places, ethics, and societal organisation that relate humanity to what an anthropologist has called "an order of existence". There are so many types of religion in this present world which includes christianity, Islam, Jainism, Shinto, Sikhism, Rastafari, Paganism, and many more. "Though we can't prove the existence of one (or many) god(s), we can provide evidence for the power of religion," reference to Psychology. Corruption A man is said to be corrupt when he engage yourself in dishonest or fraudulent activites, abuse of power when he finds himself such situation, and other illicit conducts. How Religion is fast becoming the face of Corruption in Nigeria. It is in Africa, using Nigeria as an example, you find a man who looted thousands, millions or billions of Naira depends on the level of access to public funds and will still seeks for his clergy's permission to build or finish a religious building all in the name of God. (From christian perpective) A funny reason why one of my close friend his old church was because he was INSTRUCTED (not persuaded) to bring his first fruit of the year to the church. This simply means giving his January salary of the year to the church as a salary earner. On my friends side, he wondered how he would survive the whole February if he surrenders the whole January salary knowing fully well that the later is always the longest month of the year. From the church side now, if it has 100 members and atleast 50 of them earn something at the end of the month, it will be a great harvest for that month. Now, imagine a church with a member whose hard-earn monthly income is N1million, is he going to give out everything? Huh! Multiply that by 5 or10 or even more depends on the number of big men in the church. Remember, they will tell you that the money is for the man of God and not directly for the church itself. NO WONDER SOME SO CALL MEN OF GOD LIVES HOLLYWOOD LIFESTYLES. A man will embezzle billions of naira and still pay tithes like millions, billions. Yet his pastor is fully aware that he's just a civil servant and will never question him. The church may even assign a special date for celerating him and announcing the size of the tithe publicly. Tell me how another innocent top civil servant like the church member will not wish to be celebrated like his counterpart, thereby tempted to emulate him to cut corner too or even do more. Another aspect is members buying exotic cars for their pastors. I am not condemning this act, it's actually very good and also a means of showing gratitute to what God did for you through your man of God. But, pastors needs to check properly before collecting any gift. Thinking aloud about the election period in Nigeria, it's no longer new to us that politicians goes to church once or twice in 4 years. They give exorbitant offerings to the church, buys magnificent gifts to pastors and members, promises completion of church buildings if under construction, of completed, they give funds for one thing or the other. Campeign inside church. Yet, Pastors will welcome that and even pray for them to do more term (if possible, pray 5 terms for them) forgetting that this same people refused to do anything for the masses that voted them in. (Islam perspective) How can an Imam who claims to have integrity lead prayer in a personal mosque own by someone who is currently under investigation by anti-graft agency. You know who he was before he join the train of politics, he worth nothing then but worths billions now. He earned that level within just 4 years. Even a deaf and blind person knows that he is corrupt. There is a mosque close to my former abode, the former Imam was accused of embezzling a N1 million meant for completion of the building which was donated by a popular female politician in the country. Imagine this horrible accusation. Until our religious leaders retrace their steps back to goodwill before this country can go forward, knowing fully well that NIGERIA IS SUCH A RELIGIOUS WORLD on its own. Some of the false ones takes advantage of their followers because they know that all they love to hear is miracles while swimming inside rivers of laziness. http://www.tellforceblog.com/2017/02/opinion-religion-becoming-face-of.html |
