MTN Nigeria is increasing the number of digits for the PINS on recharge vouchers from 16 to 17 digits. This means that when you purchase a scratch card of any denomination, the number of PINs you will type in the process of loading will be 17. Back in 2016, the foremost telecom operator increased the number of digits from 12 to 16 now, it’s taking it to 17 digit. We just hope by 2020, we will not be counting 20 digits. Despite the change the old 16 digit vouchers remain valid and useable. Also, whether you recharge a 16 or 17 digit pin code the value of the airtime remains the same. https://www.tellforceblog.com/2018/05/mtn-introduces-17-digit-mtn-recharge-pin.html

Shortly after being revealed on TENAA's website, the BlackBerry Athena (Blackberry Key2) has leaked in live images as well as its specs and features. The latest leaked images are no way different from what TENAA had revealed in Design. The second one shows the device on the left, and an image clicked by the phone on the right. Note the BlackBerry KEY² moniker at the bottom of the image on the right. Of course, the moniker/watermark shows that the image is yet to be official, as this can be done using tools/apps that are widely available. However, the name does make sense given it's the successor to the Keyone. As for specs, the device is rumored to be powered by Snapdragon 660, come with 6GB RAM, and run Android 8.0 Oreo. Checkout the unofficial specs and feature for the Blackberry Keytwo below: https://www.tellforceblog.com/2018/05/checkout-the-live-image-and-specifications-of-blackberry-key2.html

Must an iPhone come with a physical home button? Well, I leave that to the users. However, Apple is preparing to release something that would quench the thirst of those clamoring for the physical home button ever since the leak of iPhone X started last year. Aside, just having the physical home button add-on, there will also be Touch ID feature incorporated into it. This latest development is sure to pacify those who hate the Apple’s face unlock tech. Talking about the design of the home button add-on for the iPhone X, the device measures 29 mm × 30 mm × 3.9 mm (1.1 in × 1.18 in × 0.1 in) – about the size of a 4th gen iPod Shuffle. About the built, it’s made up of a glossy, white plastic. The button is covered in glass. https://www.tellforceblog.com/2018/04/apple-iphone-x-gets-home-button-add-on-headphone-jack.html

So far, HMD Global has been successful in the revival of the nostalgic Nokia brand of smartphones with worldwide commendation. While the year 2017 could count Nokia 3310 among its phones with ecstasy, we were able to witness the return of the Nokia 8110 (banana phone) at MWC 2018. And now Moto RAZR appears to be shaking its grave. According to a TechRadar report, the Lenovo CEO said that Motorola could be bringing back the then popular RAZR to life the nearest future. Yang Yuanqing was asked about a possible Motorola RAZR revival to which Yuanqing commented, “With the new technology, particularly foldable screens, I think you will see more and more innovation on our smartphone design. So hopefully what you just described (referring to the Moto RAZR brand) will be developed or realized very soon.” When asked to confirm if he was precisely talking about the RAZR, he replied, “I think I have already answered the question”. With the success recorded by HMD in updating classic Nokia phones, can Motorola be an excellent candidate to reviving the Motorola RAZR? The Moto RAZR was perhaps the most iconic clamshell-style cell phone of all time, recording an amazing sales of 130 million units during its time. So if the RAZR brand returns, then this truly proves that Man always goes back to its past but in a smarter way. Much like Nokia’s way, we could see a new version of the Moto RAZR updated for 2018 with a new body and updated camera, display, and features. So, what do you think about this move if it’s going to be real? https://www.tellforceblog.com/2018/02/moto-razr-coming-back-foldable-design-just-like-nokia-3310.html

Google has added a new tab called ‘Auto ads’ to its AdSense platform which is located just above ‘Ad Units’ tab. What Does Auto ads Means? According to Google, Auto ads are a family of ad formats that provides a simple and innovative way for website owner or bloggers to monetize their content. With Auto ads, Google will automatically display ads at optimal times when they’re expected to perform well for you and provide a good experience for your users. All you need is to place the same piece of ad code once on each page. Auto ads is replacing and improving the Page-level ads. So for site owners who already had Page-level ads their site, there will be no need to paste any new code since the new Auto ads uses the same code as that of Page-level ads. Google has already migrated all your existing settings over to Auto ads. What is new in Auto ads? As earlier stated, Auto ads is just an enhancement on Page-level ads and offer new opportunities such as: 1. New ad formats (e.g., text and display, In-article, etc.) in addition to existing formats such as anchor ads and vignettes 2. Advanced URL settings which allows you show different Auto ads on different pages of your sites https://www.tellforceblog.com/2018/02/google-introduces-auto-ads-to-adsense.html

While 5G is the latest catchword in the carrier industry, we are still on 4G LTE and it’s yet to even cover 20% of Nigerian cities. Despite the challenge of coverage and attainment of speed, ,modem manufacturers like Qualcomm and others continues issuing out their modems that can take advantage of "pre-5G" up to 2 Gbps speeds, yet carriers can't hit anywhere close to that in real-life scenarios. Are you curious which country boasts of the fastest LTE network in the world, or what's the average 4G speed globally? Well, according to the latest annual report from OpenSignal answers these pressing questions for you. The top two in terms of 4G availability are still South Korea and Japan. Talking about “average 4G LTE speeds”, the world hasn't seen much progress since the previous annual report. Even the fastest LTE networks, such as those in Singapore, the Netherlands, or Norway, are still in the 40-45Mbps range, while "the Holy Grail of 50 Mbps remains just unreachable," according to OpenSignal. Nigeria is not even in the top 90 countries in terms of 4G LTE availability and speed? This shows that we are deeply asleep in the telecom sector. https://www.tellforceblog.com/2018/02/who-has-the-fastest-4g-speeds.html

This is what we mean by technology going wild. QR Codes are exceptionally versatile in terms of usage as they can be used in various applications. In social media world and other platforms, some apps such as WeChat and WhatsApp, uses QR Codes to link your phone to your desktop web client. And now, the use of QR Codes is moving to another level as some scientists are endeavouring to push QR codes into an area you would think is spectacular - Medicine. According to a new study by researchers from University of Copenhagen and colleagues from Abo Akademi University in Finland, they have developed a white eatable material which they have printed a QR code consisting of a drug. “This technology is promising, because the medical drug can be dosed exactly the way you want it too. This gives an opportunity to tailor the medication according to the patient getting it.” The shape of the QR code enables the storage of data in the drug itself where a quick scan can get all the information about the pharmaceutical product. Digitizing how we take drugs from a hospital using simple QR codes could be huge. Currently, we use the old fashion system of obtaining prescription drugs from the pharmacy that have explicit instructions of how to take it and in some cases, it can be hard to know if the drugs are real or fake. The researchers hope that in the future, a regular printer will be able to apple the drug in the pattern of a QR code and the edible material would need to be produced in advance. Talking about security, you will have to count China as one of the country striving hard to make sure its citizens and their properties are safe. The Chinese government has taken its internal security level to a new standard as the nation’s security agency recently armed it’s operatives with a latest set of smart Glasses with facial recognition technology to aid them identify citizens. In the past, China makes use of CCTV cameras positioned in different part of the country to identify its citizens and track their movements, but now, with this newly introduced smart glasses, its security operatives will be able to scan people’s faces for criminals, crime witnesses and missing persons in crowded areas or places where CCTV cameras are not available. The glasses which are made by a Beijing-based company – LLVision Technology Co. – is already facing critics from organizations like Amnesty International for reasons being that the new development will further increase the already existing hostile surveillance in the country. https://www.tellforceblog.com/2018/02/chinese-police-now-uses-smart-glasses-track-criminals.html

Rumour has before now been going round the internet about the closing down of the Naspers OLX ‘s operations in a number of countries in Africa, specifically Nigeria and Kenya. Ironically, both countries are two key markets in their region, which is why such an apparent decision by the company to close e-commerce site is a bit surprising. It seems the OLX Nigerian office has even been closed before now, though we can only boast of little details pertaining the decision. According to Techpoint, the CEO of OLX in Asia, Middle East and Africa confirmed Nigeria’s fate with the following statement: “We made a difficult but important decision in Nigeria to consolidate our operations between some of our offices internationally. Our marketplace will continue to operate here — uninterrupted — as it has since 2010, and we remain committed to the many people here who use our platform to buy and sell every month. We continue to be focused on constantly innovating to make sure that OLX remains the top classifieds platform in the country. Of course, we are committed to helping our affected colleagues during this transition and have already offered them meaningful financial and other support. As we’ve expressed to them directly, we are extremely grateful for their many significant contributions to OLX’s success.” The notable hint from the above statement is that OLX plans to bring up something new by combining all its operations into a single entity. It is however an unclear statement, with the main point being a shutdown of the West African state’s operations. https://www.tellforceblog.com/2018/02/olx-set-to-shutdown-nigerias-operations.html
