Politics › Re: Why Are Oppositions Destroying Peter Obi's Billboards And Offices? (Pics) by tempest01(m): 12:20am On Oct 08, 2022 |
RenaissanceGuy: I hate hypocrisy. Let everyone advocate for a level-playing field. If Tinubu's billboard is destroyed you'll see people jubilating and saying it was a sign that he's not accepted, but when it happens to Obi, they cry victimisation. Okay ... Keep going....don't cry here if obidients declare and bring down all opponents bill-boards. Since you all want to be mad. |

N3TRAL: There is import restriction on cement that is why Dangote and Bua can successfully run their factories.
There's import restriction on noodles, that is why dufil (indomie) exists.
There is import restriction on some categories of pharmaceuticals, that is why emzor exists and employs pharmacy graduates every year.
There's import restriction on poultry that is why poultry farmers have jobs.
Removing import restriction contradicts the wish for Nigeria to become a producing economy because our fragile local manufacturers will be competing with manufacturers from countries with comparative advantage.
Nigeria will be a dumping ground. What is the comparative advantage? What is that advantage that the locals cannot also implement? If cost of labour, storage, import, duties, taxes and transportation of the foreign market is not enough to make local production profitable then let us import, instead of prices of items going through the roof. |

And a bill to ensure that asset declaration can be made public with few redactions to exact house numbers but keeping street and location. |

Politics › Re: Ameachi, Others Who Contested For APC Ticket Are Yet To Recover - Aisha Buhari by tempest01(m): 12:35am On Oct 06, 2022 |
candidtalk: They got played and deserved everything they got. How da fck does Umahi think he can waltz in from PDP to get APC ticket from Tinubu who, even more than Buhari was the strategic mastermind of APC's birth and march to victory in 2015?
Who has Amaechi mentored or made for him to think he can be boss of all bosses? The problem is that Nigerians are too egotistic by nature.
Very few are humble, classy and principled. If these guys are not all spoilt brats then is it terrible to lose to Tinubu? Same Tinubu who created ACN and made it the dominant Party in the SW with 5 out of 6 Governors in the region? Has Umahi, Osinbajo or Ameachi achieved anything remotely similar to that?
Dem swear for Amaechi, Osinbajo, Umahi etal? When they cut their teeth as Tinubu has done, at the very highest level, then we can understand their bitterness at Jagaban's emergence same as the likes of past titans like Awolowo and Azikiwe can beef each other.
As I see it, the likes of Umahi, Osinbajo and Amaechi are just upstarts Buhari's bad and ethnocentric politics put far above their station.
If Buhari was a proper, upright, grateful, honorable politicians and dedicated Party man then only Tinubu would have been supported to become APC candidate.
Buhari and his Northern supremacist buddies , in their search for Southern stooges, caused this situation where a few butterflies fancying themselves as birds are now acting up like scorned divas and sabotaging what should be a united and focused effort for the ruling Party to retain power. Your ACN 5 out of 6 has me racking my brain.. |
Politics › Re: Senate Confirms The Nomination Of 19 Resident Electoral Commissioners by tempest01(m): 6:11pm On Oct 05, 2022 |
PDP is a very foolish opposition.
These loyalists will be in charge of the elections you are contesting and you don't turn up some heat on them, scrutinize them and delay the confirmation.
I really hope INEC as an institution takes steps for 2023 to prevent these people from being used to subvert the will of the people.
The last step to make INEC truly independent is to grant the ability to nominate their components by a neutral body or even the Judiciary, as the executives and legislatures are the ones partaking in the electioneering process and should not be selecting the umpires.
With this, I fear for 2023. Not just the rigging, but the fall-out if it happens.
A close eye should be placed on the states these people are posted to. IMO state especially as their plan was previously unravelled. |

EmeraldJD: Voting should be made compulsory and people who don't vote should be fined. That's the only way to make our democracy work. With the we2gether poll showing that half of Nigerians with everything going on in the country will still vote for the old order due to personal gains, religious and tribal sentiments, I say there is actually no need to make voting compulsory. About Half of the voters no matter the number will vote sidewards. It is left for those with conviction to turn out enmass and for elections to be made free, fair and devoid of undue influence. |

Books that others write, just to append your name.
Restructuring that is preached heavily in the south and muted in the north.
The real restructuring is developing the other resources in the country and get them to also contribute to the centre.
Allocations should be locked by the FG for states and only released to match IGR with a factor of HDI. That is one thinking way of getting the state governments productive. |
