I give it to this post: "I can recall 2 times where I have been scammed. i.e. the person set out to scam me and not cases of business transactions gone sour or friends refusing to pay back loans. I was attending lessons for GCE and on this fateful day I decided to stab lessons and instead pay a visit to my friend in the hood. I alighted from a bus and as I walked towards his house, I saw 2 chaps playing table tennis with on"obviously a "novice". He kept majorly lifting the ball up and the other kept smashing him out. As I walked past them they got into an argument about the scores and the better player reached out to me and said to me in yoruba "bros abeg help us keep the scores, This my opponent is an igbo guy who just stole his dad's money and is betting it all away but he cant even play". I agreed to do this for them and the other player was so poor I was wondering why he chose to bet. Anyways I helped them keep the scores and the better player won. The novice paid his debt and I made to walk away. The winner then spoke to me in yoruba again "bros dont you want to chop this magas money?" Then I had that light bulb moment. I could easily turn my N50 transport fare back home into N100 so I agreed to play a game betting my N50. The yoruba guy then said to me " give him 15 ahead to entice him to play". I was an average tennis player but having seen the novice play, I knew I could beat him even with my eyes closed. Yes he was that poor. I gave my money to the yoruba guy and the igbo guy gave his to him also. I served first and the novice smashed me out! Scores 0-6 (16). I assumed this was a fluke and I served again. The novice smashed me out again, scores 0-7! This was when the penny dropped. I immediately feinged an illness and told the yoruba guy I wasnt playing again but he said to me in yoruba "bros you don bet already, it cant be cancelled". I carried on the game and tried my best but it didnt stop the novice igbo guy from winning without me scoring a single point. I left in shame and as I walked away I noticed everyone in the area looking at me. The bastards knew what was going on and they didnt even warn me. I walked to my friends house but he wasnt home. I had to walk several miles back home as I had now lost my transport fare. That is the one day of my life when I regretted stabbing school." Laughed so hard I almost cracked my ribs!!! |
Here's the portion i like most: (v)Between June 20 and 25, 2013, invoices were received from various accredited motor vehicle dealers during which only Coscharis Motors Limited quoted for BMW Security Vehicles |

My first post in several months...... Before Nairaland, we existed and after Nairaland, life will definitely go on. If Seun and his cronies decide to run this forum this way, I am really ashamed!!! Rules are made to be broken anyways. |

Hi All! Yeah a lot of peops realize it when it looks kind of 'late' but then, 2.2 is not a death sentence. I graduated with a 2.2 myself (about 13yrs ago) and no doubt i had the potential to make an easy 2.1 but must have been limited by grooving, flexing et al (no regrets though cause i had the best of time then). Yes, the trend these days is most 'big' firms make it harder for 2.2 grads courtesy of the 'minimum qualification of 2.1' in job adverts. Nonetheless, with hardwork, dedication and prayers you will get there. I can't emphasise this any more, start with something that comes your way and build on it. It gets to a point where what really counts is your expertise/experience. Challenge yourself and gather as much knowledge/experience as you can lay your hands on. I have found out that your first job as a 2.2 grad may not be one with enviable pay but it really does not matter. I spent the first 5 years of my work years gathering experience on my own and studying hard to hit off a few certifications. I had a job in a Federal establishment and i spent every day wanting out. I moved on to another job after 5 years and my first salary was x5 of the last one! I did not stop there but moved on to another job after two years and have been happy as i move up the ladder of life. I have it on good account that I am doing better that a lot of my colleagues that i know had 2.1 (though this is not to say the grade had anything to do with it). In summary, today there are now some things i consider very basic eg. going on vacation every year, having funds for long term projects, having a blast when i deem it necessary, etc. Just keep your hopes alive! - |
Now we have new members sworn into both the upper and lower legislative chambers. Perhaps this is their turn to partake of the "National Peppersoup"!! Politics has since become the best paying job in Nigeria, na waoh! |

Hi, How much will it cost me to get either of these two cars from Cotonou: 1) Honda Accord 2006 model 2) Nissan xterra 2004 model Thanks |
Thanks. It appears the prices are direct reflections of the bids made to date? It would be nice to know the total landing cost in naija if for instance one settled for a car of $9,000. |
Hi Bizbooks, can you send the link to my email (tech2kplus@yahoo.com). Moreover, what would be the landing cost of Toyota Highlander 2005 in naija? Thanks a lot. |
Hi Tadeus, there is this honda civic that is small (but has four doors and is NOT hatchback) that has an inscription like 1.4li or 1.6li or something like that. I see it a lot these days. My questions are: 1) what year/model is this? 2) Is it auto? 3) Does it come with factory fit AC? 4) How much would be the landing cost in Kaduna? Thanks. |
i intend travelling to d uk for a visit, am a banker but my dad intends sponsoring me, do i need my statement of account or my dads own, what supporting documents can i carry along, which will be better , invitation letter or hotel reservation Hi Bird200, I suppose you'll need both statements (your dad's because he has to demonstrate that he is capable of sponsoring your trip and then yours because you need to demonstrate that you are gainfully employed here in Naija and do not intend to remain in the UK). Supporting documents to carry along include everything that would boost your chances of getting the visa - letter from employer, bank statement(s), hotel reservation, marriage certificate (if applicable), children's birth certificates (if applicable), proof of investments (shares, land documents, other sources of income) and anything else you consider appropriate. I'll give you some tips that have worked for me on more than one occassion: 1) Ensure your bank statement speaks for itself ( no sudden huge deposits just before application submission, reasonably funded and details of transactions for 6months to 1 year) 2) Arrange and tag your supporting documents and have them refer to appropriate portions in your application form (eg. cut a small piece of paper, clip it onto the letter from your employer and label it 'attachment 1'. Then on your form where you need to indicate your work details, also include a pointer (possibly in brackets) like 'see attachment 1'). 3) If hotel reservation is made via a travel agency, be sure to indicate this on the last page of your application form where you are asked if anyone has helped make your application. You may choose to go like " yes' for an answer and then indicate that travel agengy x helped with hotel reservation only. ( i have seen where the lack of this information nailed an applicant). 4) Review your application when done for possible errors. Good luck! |
I had a travel agency book on my behalf and i only paid for the equivalent of one night (10k). |
Hi, Hotel reservation alone worked for me last year and that was my first time. |

Hi all, if you can believe that tomorrow exists, then you should believe that the girl in the picture is Rita Dominic. She actually finished in the year 1990 from FGC Ikot Ekpene and went by the name Rita Nwaturuocha then. Not like it matters much though, but back then, she was into miming on stage (i won't forget her perfomance of Yvonne Chaka Chaka's "Umqombothi"). |
Yes, Gay people should NOT get a degree!!! |
