CareerRe: Your Advice Is Urgently Needed by TenthMan(m): 10:35am On Jan 10, 2020
RealtorX:
Hello, nairalanders!
I need your opinions on which of these jobs to choose.

1.Sample pick up from health facilities to medical labs for analysis (to be paid per number of facilities visited). This is in a location I like to reside.

2. Medical Sales Representative. The salary here is N50k/month but you have to meet the target given to you (say N2m/month). The company can post you to any state.

3. An NGO 3 month-consultancy job in my state of origin with N80k/month.

Your serious and candid opinion is needed and especially if you are experienced in medical sales rep job! Thank you.
OPTION 1
How many samples can you pick up on the average per day? Health care and Health Care Services are good businesses. In Nigeria it is not even properly developed and has not reached its real investment potential due to the fact that majority of people cannot afford good healthcare. Also, other amenities to promote the business are not available.

If you know the average number of health care centers can visit per day, you should be able to calculate your projected average earnings per week and in a month.

Now, what will be your costs/expenditure? Are you having your own mobility or is someone doing the pick up and you pay him? When you figure out you operational cost (including taxes, depreciation) then you can really know what will be left for you on a periodic basis.

OPTION 2
The fact that they can post you to any state is a risk. What if they post you to a state that you do not fancy. Or is insecure. or has no real need for the product? Or simply cannot afford the products? What then happens when you do not meet your target? You wont be paid your salary of 50k? How are you sure 50k will be enough to sustain you in the State you will be posted to? This will just put you into stress of frantically trying to meet targets set by someone in an air conditioned office who has no basic idea of what you go through to meet the target. They are not even talking about commissions. And even with commissions I wouldn't consider this option. There are too many unknwons. In life and economics it is Liabilities/Expenses and Assets/Income. Your income for now is 50k which is dependent on meeting a target. You do not know your liabilities/expenditure. So you cannot even project if you will be saving or loosing money.

A benefit of this option is adventure. It is risky and at times with risks comes rewards. Rewards like you could get to the State you are posted to and see other business opportunities or meet some persons who you could work with on very profitable ventures. Also, you could learn this business and see if you can start your own Medical Sales Business or offer a service that the business needs.

OPTION 3
This is interesting, but it is too short in duration. After 3 months, what next? People are seeking to create Legacy Wealth. If you had no option, one would have advised that you take this. At least it stops you from being idle, you get to travel home and observe other business opportunities there. An NGO is an interesting venture. While it is not supposed to be profit making, it definitely provides a source of earnings. While at it, you get to make some money. You did not state if this is extendable. That is if there is the prospect of the service being extended.

In Summary, consider option 1 critically. Where possible develop it and see the prospects. See the cash flow in this business. What could be the challenges, etc. Can this business be a service need which can be replicated in Major Cities like Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt? Where eventually you have a pool of delivery men/vehicles (cars, tricycles, bikes, etc) who are scheduled to routinely go to hospitals to pick samples? There is no harm in dreaming and getting information to verify if this is achievable or not. Consider combining option 1 with any other option as well. There is no harm in having multiple streams of income.

Good luck.
BusinessRe: What Business Gave You Your First Million In 2019 by TenthMan(m):
For me it was and still is Consulting/Consultancy in my Discipline/Area of Expertise.

I figured that since I was very good in the Skills, Knowledge and Techniques of the Discipline and I had trained myself in various other capabilities concerning the Discipline, I could create a company by the side that will offer consultancy services to clients that frequent my place of work. The Discipline is such that once data is gathered in the field through various tests and analyses, reports can be prepared and submitted to the clients.

As a matter of fact two of the subsidiaries I created (Hospitality i.e. Bar, Lounge and Restaurant) and the Consortium/Parent Company for my envisaged conglomerate were registered with CAC by members of this forum. Money does not like to be idle and I love having multiple streams of income. As per the Lounge Business, I am still seeking for an appropriate property within the Ajah, Sangotedo, and further axis. It turns out that land searches have proven over 95% of the properties there to be scam and/or under government acquisition.

I am seriously considering divesting into Agriculture/Food Stuff/Agro Allied next after which I will go into Graphics, Monogramming, Printing, etc., At a time I visited the place where my car is serviced and was shocked at the number of vehicles waiting for servicing? Over 10 cars waiting and willing to pay 2,000 naira for the service. And this man has about 3 lube bay service pits. Yet in that few minutes I got there I had to take my turn, other cars went in for servicing and other cars arrived to take turns. Meanwhile we will buy our oils and filters. An idea immediately ran through my head. However this area requires understanding of the intricacies in the business.

If your discipline is technical and requires the use of consultants, e.g Goetechnical Testing, Mechanical Engineering, etc. and you are working somewhere else , you can also save up funds and start your own.

Do not rely on one source of income. Create Multiple Streams. Master one stream, invest and nurture. Then master another stream, then invest and nurture. Dangote is not the only one who likes having a conglomerate. Some of us do and have ours too. Steadily growing to where we want it to be.

TenthMan, if you want to retain your sanity and IQ here , mind the people you engage or threads you comment on. I'm telling you this because you seem to be the ray of hope for sensible contributions on this section. You are Unique here, Please remain that way.
I fully understand.

The thing is that the aim is not to win. And the goal is not to compete or spar with words/mentions. Just as the purpose is not to show off or be popular. There is no goal.

Adopting decision taking/or situation review without bias is difficult for some and almost impossible for others. And I can guarantee you that I select topics to respond to when I see certain opportunities to inform, regardless of how thoughtless the post could seem or how fraught it is with grammatical errors or regardless of how foolishly the person tries to portray him/herself as being based overseas. Just because one is based overseas does not imply anything. It does not mean the person is more intelligent. It does not imply a better standard of living. It is only those who are very unenlightened with low self esteem that will view the poster as someone of importance because he claims overseas. On this forum, I can also claim ''I am Dangote and I wipe with gold-plated tissue paper''. There you see? It is easy.

You will see the folly and ignorance in his topic where he claims scientists reveal that people like his Grand Mum, Mother, Aunts and Sisters do not have brains. It would have been interesting for him to present the ladies from his household for us to see if they actually do not have brains. Then we can go further to study them in-depth. Now his shenanigans can be easily ignored. However,it also gives an important opportunity to enlighten people about the minds of the various gender.

My response to him is because it is an avenue to enlighten people who think like him. People like him might be blessed with 20 daughters in future as they clamor and seek for sons from one woman to another.

Typically, I (intentionally) do not usually respond to mentions on this section.

My responses are objective (knowledge/fact based) and you must know I answer without any form of bias (cultural, religious, tribal, ethnic, class, gender, age, race, nationality, blood, acquaintance, etc.).

You have a need. To satisfy yourself sexually.

She has a need. An iPhone.

Both of you exchanged what you have for what you want.

You also could have also asked her to set up a business with you, so that you can make huge profits and get as many other girls as you want. There could have been many other ways she could have benefited you more than just mating with her. But you did not consider these ways. At that moment your basic desire was to procreate. He basic desire was to have something trendy to satisfy the need for validation.

Yes you outsmarted her in the short term, by cancelling the order and giving her 5000 Naira. She did not know that you would do that. That can happen to both men and women.

However, if we look at it objectively, both of you used yourselves for immediate needs at that point in time. By human standards both of you lack moral standards and are equal with respect to controlling and your basic sexual urges and usage of your sexual organs. You misused yours to enjoy the pleasure of mating with a woman and the psychological thrill that comes with this. She misused hers for getting material benefits.

RomanceRe: Why Make The Announcement? by TenthMan(m): 2:52am On Dec 30, 2019
They are aware that while makeup may seem to enhance physical attractiveness (not beauty), it also shrouds/covers their natural looks. Make up has served two main purposes. Enhance sexual features and artistically attract.

Should they view themselves to be pretty/attractive without make up, they are proud of this fact.

Why show and display this? The human nature likes validation and approval. While sexual body parts are simply nature's way of bestowing
major responsibility of offspring nourishment on the woman, that is all there is to it. She has the same brain, the potential to be strong, and propensity to do what a man can do physically and mentally. Interaction between evolutionary forces and majorly, cultural practices, have limited women to what they are today, especially in Africa, where what she is mostly validated by is her physical features. So she seeks that form of validation more. The attention for men is shifting more and more from physical features to financial status.

In summary, social media has only provided an easy tool for seeking validation of physical/sexual looks from a whole lot of people, over great space and in a very short time.

RomanceRe: Another Man Is After My Girlfriend by TenthMan(m):
Well, typically males compete among other males for a female they want. Whether consciously or unconsciously ,this happens. Whether the woman is single or married has hardly stopped this. Unless you want to be mean and threaten her, etc. there is nothing you can do but to tell her why you do not subscribe to her talking to him for too long, seeing him, keeping his company, etc. because of the strain it might cause to your relationship and how it has the propensity to emotionally endear her to him and make her be his mate. After that, there is little or nothing you can do. Even wives/husbands (mates) can hardly be monitored.

If she thinks he has more advantage over you in taking care of her, there is little or nothing you can do. Like I hinted above, you will have to make her override the primordial instinct of seeking a better mate that has more resources (perhaps than you do) and override the desire for an escapade (let me just try and see which is better).

Listen, if she goes with him, then she goes with him. I (if I want to be sentimental/bias) will prefer that she goes to him openly as a matter of fact, than doing so secretly and returning to me.

My responses are objective (knowledge/fact based) and you must know I answer without any form of bias (cultural, religious, tribal, ethnic, class, gender, age, race, nationality, blood, acquaintance, etc.).
RomanceRe: My Opinion On Broke Guys by TenthMan(m):
Humans are blessed with the gift of thought and reason. Therefore we have the ability to override basic primordial/survival instincts that nature has placed in us. This separates us from other species. We can observe our basic desires (greed, sexual lust, anger, violence, etc.) and override these with reasoning.

If we go by bare human instinct, the female will always choose the male that has the highest/better propensity to produce offspring with healthy genetics and a male that will support her with resources and security, especially for family nurturing. Don't forget nature has placed on her the physical attributes to conceive and nurture the offspring. It is therefore basic instinct for a woman to choose men who are financially capable in today's world. Also, the female considers herself vulnerable when she is pregnant and nurturing her young. She knows this fact and instinctively looks for a mate that is capable of protecting and providing for her in her vulnerable state.

People calling for women to select/choose/stick to men who have little or nothing are asking the women to override their basic instinct with the power of reasoning and thought. This is a difficult thing to do. A lot of women are having none of it. Men who accuse women of ''not knowing tomorrow'' do not know how nature works. A woman's instinct and psychology tells her to stay with a man who she sees his fortunes/resources than one which is imaginary. ''I go fit get am'' or ''babe no worry, my future is bright'' no be property. She was not designed to think this way. She has to go through the stress of overriding her basic instinct with reasoning and hope. It is a huge risk and gamble to her. Her mind will hardly be at peace.

Men must note that it is the woman's right to ensure that her offspring are properly nurtured. It is the woman that gets pregnant. It is the woman that bears the child. It is the woman that nourishes the child. Hence do not expect the woman to take such major risks by selecting a ''weaker man''. In the past, the males had to prove themselves competing with other males. Nowadays it is financial strength and material comfort that is the yardstick. Not brute strength and the ability to hunt a mammoth.

The woman is also aware of the risk in the man's desire/propensity to procreate as many times and with as many females as possible. She needs security for her own offspring. The woman too, if the man is found weak, unable to provide at any point in time, may lead to allowing another man have his way. People are shy to state these facts or simply do not like them because they do not conform to what they believe, which is fine.

Asking women to shelve this instinct for reason, also like telling the men not to chase women and have no strings attached sex with them (A lot of men fight this urge daily). Men vehemently refuse to give up this right to chase any woman they so desire. To mate with any woman the desire at any point in time.

What the women have to know is that happiness is not usually based on lavish comfort. Also, an Alpha male today who has everything can loose it tomorrow. In an instant. Women also have to note that After child nurturing, women are designed to be productive. So, no time in history did women just sit down watching ''zee world'' and not contributing to the economy of the community. Men, on their own path, have to note that because she stayed with you when you had nothing does not make her a good person/mate either. Neither is it wrong for her to want you to have everything she desires. Nothing is guaranteed. We use our brains to calculate and reason , but nothing is guaranteed.

RomanceRe: How men Easily Sleep With Ladies These Days. Photo!! by TenthMan(m):
Sexual urge and sexual activity is a simple natural instinct and act for procreation. The urge for two opposites to unite (trying with failure) in becoming one. One believing it can be completed by the other. One finding what it feels it lacks in the other. It is only shrouded in fancy adoring sentiments like ''marriage'', ''love'', ''soul mate'', etc. so that it does not produce disgust in those engaging in the act.

Additionally, it is regulated due to various religious, socio-cultural and political sentiments and opinions about morality and societal benefits. This is not to say that regulating sexual activity to only one partner does not have its benefits. For instance, a society under which children are properly raised in working marriages produces more mentally balanced and successful offspring (in general-as there are exceptions). Interestingly, I am currently unaware of any data comparing Children from Monogamous and Polygamous marriages/families. Also, human nature is such that a loose sexual activities and uncontrolled fulfillment of sexual desires has a lot of disadvantages as well.

People have to realize that most individuals (mostly males and females) are torn between giving into the natural instinct to simply breed with the most qualified/available/easily accessible mate (male or female) or sticking to the rules and regulations imposed by society promoting monogamy. Most men, are torn in this regard. Do they follow the urge/instinct to breed or do they let the religious and societal requirements suppress this basic primordial desire and stick to just one partner?

Now how do many individuals act when face with these two options? mostly based on convenience of the situation (including mental/psychological,physical,emotional,financial, etc states). The female, typically, is choosy for a mate (within the reproductive age group). The men not so much (within the reproductive age group).

So why do people go polygamous/seek for other sexual partners and do not stick to one (or cheat as they call it?). Conscious/unconscious Loss of control of sexual urge. Uncontrolled sexual desire for gain/benefit of any form (financial/material,revenge,regret,salvage,power,adrenaline,comfort,addiction to sex, power trip, ego). Whether it happened once by mistake or it happens often, I am not here to state if it is good or bad or who cheats the most.

My responses are objective (knowledge/fact based) and you must know I answer without any form of bias (cultural, religious, tribal, ethnic, class, gender, age, race, nationality, blood, acquaintance, etc.). Advance apologies for not responding to mentions.

olatunyemi:
please is CIEHS equivalent to NEBOSH?
Well, they all focus on the promotion of the Science, Engineering and Managerial HSE Skills in interested persons. So in a way they have the same goal in the long run. NEBOSH is a UK HSE Professionals Examination/Certification body. CIEHS is a professional organisation that also grants memberships of various cadres based on the passing of some professional exams. CIEHS is American based. CIEHS does not deliver courses. It only develops syllabuses for its qualifications and sets methods of assessment, such as examinations and practical coursework. Courses are delivered by CIEHS Accredited Training Providers.

If you ask me, I will advise you to go for NEBOSH. It is more popular and more internationally acceptable. If you review literature you will find out that 90% of the job advertisements for safety, health and environmental (SHE) roles reviewed, specified one or more NEBOSH qualifications; up from 83% last year (2016). Also, [In 2017] More than half (51%) of vacancies called for a range of NEBOSH Certificate-level qualifications, up from 45% last year and 38% in 2015. The NEBOSH General Certificate meets the academic requirements for Technical Membership (TechIOSH) of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and Associate Membership (AIIRSM) of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM).

However, the above is my personal opinion.

Hi all!

I'm a recent graduate of Industrial Chemistry. I intend to get an HSE certificate. I'm somewhat stuck between UK HSE and NEBOSH, which do you recommend I go for?

Thanks in advance!

P.S: I'm on the lookout for internship placement to gain more experience , so if you come across any opportunity, you can kindly quote me or send a message. Thanks!
We have always advised to start small, depending on your knowledge and experience in HSE Sciences, Engineering and Management. If you are new to the field the advise is you start small. Do the UK HSE or ISPON HSE Levels applicable to a graduate. Then you can advance to NEBOSH. Please note that NEBOSH is more intense than 'UK HSE' . It also has more modules, more expensive with more course content. It is also very structured. The classes are intense for newbies and exams are written almost immediately.

If you have the funds, start from the Basics. Which is ISPON HSE /'UK HSE'. After having a general idea of what you are delving into, you can then progress into NEBOSH and other advanced courses.

Another thing you can do is to get the NEBOSH/ISPON Materials to study with on your own. This early enough study will give you a head start when you start the real courses. So try and get the free study materials. Get yourself acquainted with the course content, then go ahead and start with the HSE Levels 1,2,3 then progress to NEBOSH.

Good luck.

Good morning everyone...How relevant is the HSE course to a Teacher? I’m looking to boost my cv with professional courses not just limited to Education. Any Other professional course idea/advice is welcomed
HSE is currently a profession and requires you to have professional skills, knowledge and certification to be able to practice. Importantly, it is a professional course that applies to all endeavors of life. Including Schools/Educational Institutions.

In sane societies 80% of Nigerian schools will not pass the safety inspection/audit. Schools are supposed to have a Safety Officers. In saner societies also, there are strict regulations (guidelines and standards) that schools must adhere to (whether public or private) before they are considered safe.

Generally, your HSE Skills should be able to make you better appreciate job/task assessment, job/task hazard analyses, general hazard identification and risk assessment, etc. within the school environment. It should also give you a basic idea of first aid and emergency response among other skills.

It will be a plus to have this in your CV. And if you wish you can tailor your focus on School Safety. my advise if you get it if you can.

Good luck.

To get your daily requirements of these nutrients from semen, you would have to drink loads of semen.

Anally, nothing much happens. Some of the liquid/fluid will be absorbed by the rectal tract. The rest will be expelled when next you go to poo. And no. No woman can get pregnant from anal sex, unless the semen flows out of her and spills into her vagina. This happens often when anal sex is had with the women facing downwards/laying on her tummy.

RomanceRe: How Normal Is It To Have Sex With Your Cousin? by TenthMan(m):
largehead:
I am having sexual urges as per konji for my Cousin sisters. Is it normal?

The feeling is absolutely normal and common. It all depends on how much you were desensitized towards such urges. Or how much of the desensitization worked on you.To a lot of African kids we were taught this urge as disgusting and a taboo. In fact we were taught that such a thing would require full cleansing of the land while punishments could go as far as ostracization. A lot of us grew up with this mindset and 'brainwashing'. This has helped us control such urges till we outgrew them. Most often the urges happen in teen years and young adult stage of life. They usually ebb as one ages. The relationship/feeling (if mutual) becomes platonic.

The thing is incestuous relationships such as with one's cousin is frowned upon in many parts of Africa and the globe. Some parts however still allow/permit it. People also argue/view it from a religious angle like the teachings in Leviticus and Deuteronomy. However, cousins were not mentioned therein. Generally, besides religious and cultural rules, there is the risk of homozygosity. This makes recessive traits appear in offspring from such incestuous relationships. This leads to deformed or physically weak offspring/children etc. Hence we could argue that nature itself does not support such a relationship, especially if we see the aim of sexual relationship as only for procreation.

This is not to say a lot of persons do not get sexually attracted to their relatives. Most persons outgrow such. They also will not want to own up that they have experienced this and will not want to discuss the subject openly.

So, i can bet that most likely, your society (ethnic group, religious group, country) probably forbids such. You weren't seeking advice, but ill give it all the same. Thoughts and emotions are things you should be able to observe, smile and ignore them. Besides you'll only cause more emotional harm than good in the long run. What we do affect other people and we cannot ignore this fact. It will be wise to leave your cousin alone.

Nothing anyone says will work here for you. You have to consciously see the risks in such behavior and decide upon whether it is worth it or not. Recall how human beings take decisions. Humans will naturally take a decision that has the LEAST COST, LEAST TIME, LEAST EFFORT & LEAST DANGER/RISK. The risk in your having a relationship with her is too high.

It is because we as Nigerians are cowards.

We do not enforce consequences on our leaders.

Who said checks and balances has to do with only the three arms of Government. The masses can demand that court rulings be obeyed. Thieving politicians be punished and our cities be properly planned and fit for purpose (side walks, parks, transport systems, etc).

We can decide to demand and enforce this. We can choose to pressurize the Government in doing the right thing.

But when the Government knows that its people are timid, each one. They can afford to be brazen and reckless. They know on Monday we will all be in traffic, trying to survive the new tariffs, taxes, levies, charges, etc. and bad economic environment they continue to create.

But we are generally cowards.

Please how did u create the profile?
Seeking the Phd Scholarship. Preferably in the UK.

Created PTDF Application Profile Here ( https://scholarship.ptdf.gov.ng/ )

And for NIN (Verify Me) I created a profile in order to get the verification report here ( https://verifyme.ng/auth/signup )

However, after creating the verify me profile and ordering for a NIN Verification Report, the site is to take you to a secure platform for payment of 500 naira to get the verification report. It is this stage that is a problem. The Secure platform wont open to allow for payment. The page keeps booting and rebooting with no payment coming up.

Without this NIN Report attached, it is almost impossible to go forward. What I want to do is to just attach any document for now and then continue with the application. Hoping I shall sort out the NIN Report as time progresses.
