pls i have 100,000 naira can someone advice me on how to invest it...i need to turn it to 500,000 before December
Are you saying there are no problems in your immediate vicinity that you can proffer solutions to?

I am not averse to people presenting ideas to you. But is it possible to look at your environment. Look at needs and problems you think you can solve that you will get paid for. Then list these ideas and experienced persons can inform you on the prospects and how to scale this business ideas.

Business is simply offering value or utility to solve a problem and in exchange you are paid for this. The value you offer can be in two main forms:

1. Goods (Physical Products)
2. Services

These goods and/or services you render create utility or value or satisfaction to the customer. Hence he/she is willing to pay/compensate you for it. The utility can be in:

a. Time (saves people time in getting the item or service since you are close-by and deliver on time or when they need it)
b. Form (You present the item in the form they will use it)
c. Place (You provide the item/service at the right place)

Please look at your area, immediate vicinity, etc.

e.g.
Do people go far to buy certain food stuff like yams, etc. Can you transport that close to the area and sell those?
Do people require certain meals in the morning? Can you have a lady do this for you. Buy food coolers. She cooks and sells the food?
Do people require business center services? Can you acquire simple 3 in 1 printers and a laptop and open a business center?
Where is the closest barbing salon in the area?
What about a little confectionery shop?
Is there a phone and accessories sales/repair outlet?
What about the ladies in the area? Where do they get their beauty accessories from?
Look around you. Is there a spot where in the evening you can use as a bar/drinking spot and football viewing center?
What about a simple dry cleaning service? A simple washing machine (cold wash only) costs about 45k nowadays.

Listen, you have to look at your vicinity and come up with your ideas. You have to even ask people in your area.

Lesgupnigeria:
Why you need to invest in agriculture?

Many years ago,I wrote about the need for individuals and governments at all level to diversify into agriculture and it's related non-oil sectors as the hope of revenue generation from oil is dim looking at the various indices then.

When I wrote the article,a barrel of oil was sold at over $100 ,As I am writing now,a barrel is less than $20.

We will now be forced to look in the way of agriculture because it is the most viable option that can bounce the economy back if well planned.
Well,if you missed by article in 2011 on why you need to venture into agriculture,I hope you will not miss this opportunity too.

The best time to take action is right now
Get the knowledge
Take action on it
And create wealth for yourself.

Looking for farmland to start your farm business, look no further
We have 4000 acres of farmland available for sale at N150k per acre at our farm estate in ogun, kwara and Oyo state.
Good evening Sir.

I have been following your thread/topic and quite impressed with your level of progress. Your achievements are exemplary and commendable.

In the midst of the current lock down and the Covid-19 pandemic, I will like to have your opinion and your observations on how this affected your business. As you are aware, the lock down created difficulties in moving about amongst other issues.

Could your please provide a summary on how the situation affected;

Your factors of production i.e. Capital (materials, etc), labor, land, etc.
Your supply chain both for inputs and products produced
Your demand figures/rate.
Your bottom line/profit.
Your prognosis of the agri/agro allied business.

This will be very helpful to those interested in this line of business. I do hope you can have time to put up something for the enlightenment of a lot of us.
BusinessRe: Share Your Thought On How To Join The Billionaire Squad by TenthMan(m):
ModestGal:
Hey Nairalanders, kindly share your thoughts

Is it possible for someone to become a billionaire, someone from no where, not from a rich family, with no one to help?

Some people would say, why aiming to be a billionaire? There's this math, I used while in school, if you aim for an A, you will either end in an A or a B. You might be our next billionaire, aim HIGH

Can an individual later on in his/her life achieve this status through consistent hardworking/smart working?
Or is it only through LUCK that the individual can become one, all these Nigerian billionaires didn't start from a rich family.

Please, don't compare with white people because I know they already have an enabling environment once they are diligent, focused and smart working.
I'm talking about a typical Nigerian youth, from a poor/average home.
I know some billionaires from wretched homes that became one, but he was oppurtuned to get a job with NNPC or oil company, and from there he started having his oil mining whatever.

In this 21st century, can a youth realize that dream legally?

I'm a motivator, and sometimes I feel I could tell myself & some people that, we should forget becoming a billionaire, or when I see people Praying to become a billionaire. Sometimes, teenagers that I guide will jokingly call themselves ''billionaire squad'', and tell me, AUNTY, my money will shock you. I do observe little children when they are playing, they are often saying, when I become a billionaire

My fellow Nairalanders, do these people have hope? Is it only through luck? Are they limited to becoming millionaires or thousandnair, hundrednaire alone? Please share your thought and give examples, if you are also a billionaire/millionaire, share with us what you think of yourself before becoming one, were you always with the thought that, surely, I would be a millionaire, or you never thought of becoming one and it just happened.
If you are a NOTHING now, do you think you have the chance of becoming a billionaire? What are the steps you are taking towards this

For the purpose of viewers, I'm going to extract the best comments and put it up here for others to read and learn

God bless viewers, God bless sharers, God bless you
You become a millionaire by inheritance or by your actions ( ).

0-Wishing/Praying for something is one thing.
1-Desiring something is another.
2-Positioning your self with an adequate knowledge and plan (specialized skill or specialized persons with adequate skills) in ensuring that thing is achieved is another thing.
3-Then executing the plan is another thing entirely. Taking action. Just doing it.
4-Now should this plan fail, trying again with some modification of the plan and not giving is as a matter of fact, another thing entirely.

Many Nigerians you see are at level 0. They have not gone beyond this level. Some have gone to level 4 and quit. Becoming a billionaire is not by luck. Unless your parents bequeath wealth to you it has to come by your own action. You have to work for it or steal for it or kill for it. Whatever it is you have to take some form of action.

Please look at the worlds Billionaires. All of them. It was by their actions. Granted some had opportunities provided for them by their parents in form of a head start. However, they had something to offer and took action. They failed multiple times and tried again to achieve their aim. It is real work to rise beyond your background and your economic situation. But it is possible. Now I shall provide you an example. Real life example.

Woman A, comes from a humble background. Poor family. Nothing much to her name. Just a little educated. She was married off to a man who beat the shit out of her daily. He would leave her without any money for feeding and stuff. Eventually, he moved out of the house. Stopped caring for the kids and the woman. He told her she was bad luck and he is not interested in her anymore. Daily she would come to ask for assistance to feed herself and her kids. I knew offering her money was not the best idea. It will only solve her problem temporarily. I asked her to go into business. She complained of capital. I told her I was not going to give her capital for the business. She was distraught because I have always helped. I told her to learn a skill. A vocation. That way she can earn her own money by offering a service. And this knowledge will be with her anywhere she goes.

She decided that she would learn Tailoring and Hair Dressing. I told her to choose one and she did. She chose tailoring. Paying for the training for her was not difficult. It cost me nothing. Unknown to me, she had seen the light and learnt hair dressing on her own. While she was learning how to make clothes she caught on the hair dressing bit because she already made hair for her kids. She completed the hair dressing in no time. She eventually completed the tailoring as well. From the hair dressing, she sat in front of her house every evening and made hair for kids within the area. Especially on Saturdays and Sundays. She latter decided to rent a shop. She had some money and I gave her a loan to complete the rent. I had to lie to her that the money is a loan she must repay back. In the shop she set up a small corner with a sewing machine and had a girl help her out with the hair dressing/making section. In no time she split both businesses. Tailoring business in one shop. Hair dressing salon in another. Eventually she decided she was going to learn better designs. She wanted to learn with a good designer who designs for high class Lagos (Eko) Women. Told her to take the chance.

Long story short this same woman is supplying ' Afrofusion' clothing to the UK today. She sells those African Tops and Skirts that Oyibos now mix with their own clothing. She makes the handbags too. As per her hair dressing business, she progressed this into make up and beauty accessories. I encouraged her to brand it with a proper brand name. A fellow here on nairaland even made her logo for her for less than 10k. Today this woman is planning on travelling to Vietnam, China and/or Dubai to brand her own wigs, make up kits (mascara, eye pencils), artificial nails, etc. etc. I MEAN WITH HER OWN BRAND NAME AND LOGO ON IT. Picture Vlisco, Nobel, Tara, etc.

IS SHE A BILLIONAIRE YET? The answer is no. Is she getting there? The answer is a resounding yes. Who knows how much she can scale her business to? Who knows where else she can divest to and hit is bigger than she already has?

Long story short, background and baseline economic situation can be a challenge, but it does not mean it cannot be surmounted. Wisdom and Knowledge properly applied to achieve a goal, through consistent action can overcome any challenge(s).

By the way, like you I am a motivator, mentor, influencer, coach and guide on entrepreneurship. I am also behind the MacBriggsons CIGI (Conglomerate Industries Group Incorporated) Limited brand.

The Holy Bible says that the love of money is the root of all evil!

Money can divide a tightly close family members, friends, etc. Hence, am not surprised that ISPON is suffering what it's going through now but it is a shame really.
While they are there shamelessly bickering and maligning one another when you call each faction on phone, all it takes is another body to come up with a standard curriculum and top notch examination and certification process. Once the body can also get recognized globally by being visible, align with a lot of organizations and contribute to the development of the HSE STEM (Science, Technology Engineering and Management), it will easily replace this NISP/ISPON in terms of relevance. The only thing that will give ISPON relevance is the gazette that sets them up.

It is really a shame. A big shame. Greed and personal interests is the root of all these wahala. When the reason behind this greed is investigated, it all has to do with control of resources and funds (money). Such a big shame.

Juwon21:
Good afternoon professionals in the house, I want seek our advice. After HSE 1,2,3 is it a must one go for other training in first aid and fire safety, or HSE 3 training will do justice to first aid, and fire safety training??
The answer to this question will be based on why you think you need further first aid and fire training.

Is this a requirement by a regulatory agency or an organization you wish to work for? or is this a personal desire/drive?

One thing you must bear in mind is the fact that First Aid and Fire Training (certifications) are generally emergency response based and have various levels of expertise and depth. Yes Sir. First Aid Course comes in various levels. So does Fire Fighting. E.g in First Aid there is the Basic course which teaches you CPR and using a first aid box to treat minor cuts, sprains, etc. There is the level which teaches you how to use an AED and more sophisticated equipment for external non intrusive purposes and how to stabilize victims of more life threatening situations. There is also the Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) which is for police, military and security services where you are also taught triaging, and handling injuries from explosion and ballistics . There is the Paramedic Training which is highly advanced where you are taught more intrusive techniques for stabilization of a victim. This also applies to Fire Fighting. I shall save you the stress of mentioning the various levels to keep it short.

Ultimately, the question is WHAT IS THE NEED FOR THIS TRAINING? If the need for these courses is based on organizational or regulatory requirement, you must have to find out the depth of knowledge, skill and expertise the organization wants from you. If it is just personal desire, then the best is to start from basic/appreciation level, then move up to advanced levels if you so desire.

Note that HSE 1, 2 and 3 will not give you stand alone certificates in these areas. Hence if the need is to have/posses stand alone/separate certificates in these areas, then you have to go for these courses at a basic level at least. As most HSE Levels 1, 2. 3 training providers do not mention competencies in these areas on the certificates issued.

Good luck.

You're right bro. I was gunning for my NSE and COREN reg before... I've changed my direction now. NEBOSH and ISO courses are what I am looking at now for 2020. Not ready to waste my funds anymore.
That said, I will still advise people to go for ISPON; even if it is just for their GHSE alone or maybe Novelle. I believe it increases ones chance of landing an entry-level/trainee position in Safety. Majority of the tutors here in Ibadan are either retirees or staff of FML&E hence, they're likely to recommend one.

That's my opinion bro and it actually worked for me.
Personally, in all my handles I use to make comments in this section/topic, I have always advised that interested persons take ISPON as a start. The foundation for HSE Sciences, Engineering and Management. More like an appreciation course. Secondly, it is a cheaper alternative and can be done in bits. This basic foundation has its benefits to those whose backgrounds do not necessarily fit into the discipline/profession. It gives them a form of easy and mild introduction into the world of the HSE Profession. Thirdly, NEBOSH is a little bit more broad in scope than ISPON. ISPON makes NEBOSH a little bit more easy to handle. The candidate will not be starting as a newbie per se. To some extent, it is recognized by a couple of organizations.

Consequently, I strongly feel it is a good idea for those interested in taking ISPON to do so. With respect to the factions, I have advised that people go along with the group that uses the ispon.gov.ng website. The only reason for this advise is the assumption that for them to use that web address with the .gov.ng extension, they are perhaps recognized by the Government. Other than that I believe for knowledge sake, interested persons should just contact any of them, register, take classes, take the quizzes and get the certificate for a start. It is disheartening that they cannot be called to order. Personally, I am seriously thinking of getting some persons together for us to set up a professional organization called either of the following or a name similar to this:

1. Nigerian Board of Occupational Safety, Health and Environment (NIBOSHEN); OR
2. Nigerian Examination Board of Certified HES Professionals (NEBCHESP).

This will be tailored like the NEBOSH (UK), BSCP (USA) and the CBCSP (Canada) and even more. If we can do something serious with a very solid curriculum and standard examination for various levels of certification and get it recognized by companies, it will be superb. See https://www.bcsp.org/Portals/0/Assets/PDF/BCSP-At-A-Glance.pdf . My intention is to also get a lot of companies who take HSE seriously to contribute into the curriculum.

With respect to ISPON, I still strongly feel that the benefits for now are all worth it. I shall keep advising interested individuals to get ISPON before attempting NEBOSH, regardless of the mess ISPON is in right now.
CrimeRe: See Mysterious House Called "House Of Death" In Imo State by TenthMan(m): 9:17pm On Apr 14, 2020
https://www.anaedoonline.com/2020/04/14/see-mysterious-house-called-house-of-death-in-imo-state/

A house called the “HOUSE OF DEATH”, belonging to millions of gods in Amaigbo Umu-Anu in imo state, which as not be known by most people.

The man who built the house you see on the picture was unknown to the villagers till date. No one lives in the house, but at night their will be light in the house without NEPA or EDDC electric Cable’s attached to the house, or even a sound of a generator from the house. The most fearful thing about the house is that it has no entrance, no gate. I mean just a fence built around the building with no entrance into the building.

In 2012, a young boy called Ebuka Ikechuku was inquisitive to know what is inside the house, immediately he jumped in from the fence and entered the “house of death”, but did not make it out till date.

Imagine a house that no bird’s fly’s over, and in 2010 the Imo state Aviation Center bans planes and helicopters from flying over the house.
Even clothes been hanged within the house changes colour also. In 2005, it was also believed a woman who was pregnant, was standing near the window in the building crying, with blood on her face. When she closed back the window, till date no body knew how she vanished.

In 2018, some children playing football mistakingly shot the ball into the building, but the ball was thrown back to them. But the boy who took the shot at the ball into the building died at midnight that same night because the gods of the house demanded for the little boy by knocking at their door.

The location of “the house of death” is at Amaigbo Umu-Anu near the school of health in Imo state.

Cool.
Actually, it is supposed to be the online brand of my media company I intend to open. The company will be a part of my conglomerate MacBriggsons Conglomerate Industries Group Incorporated (MacBriggsons CIGI Ltd.)

The Media and Mass Communication arm of this conglomerate is the Trends Media Technology Company (TrendsMediaTechCo). It should have Trends News; Trends Sports; Trends Fashion, Beauty & Lifestyle; Trends Health; Trends Family; Trends Kids; Trends Radio (90 something point whatever); Trends Chronicles/Trends Watch (News Paper); Trends Marketing & Adverts (Bill Boards etc);. This is just one arm of the MacBriggsons Conglomerate.

MacBriggsons CIGI should ultimately be into:

-Education /Training & Human Capacity Development (Nursery, Primary, Secondary Schools and specialized training schools)
-Recreation, Hospitality and Tourism (Hotels, Pubs, Plazas, Bars, Resorts, etc)
-Marine/Shipping Services (Shuttle Services, Cargo Services, Tug Support Services, Oil Field Support Services, Flotels, Work Boats, House Boats, etc)
-Technical Services (Civil, Mechanical, Engineering Works, Energy (Oil, Wind, etc.) Field Services, HSE Engineering and Management Services )
-Commerce/Retailing (Supermarkets, Shops, Malls)
-Energy Exploration, Development, Production and Service Provision (Oil and Gas, Wind, Biofuels, etc)
-Banking, Finance and Insurance
-Pharmaceuticals
-Health and Fitness
-Textile and Fashion
-Beauty and Cosmetics
-Manufacturing of House Hold/Fast Moving Consumer Goods (Foods, drinks, disposables, etc.)
-Mass Communication/Mass Media (TV Stations, Radio Stations, Magazines, Youtube Channels, Bill Boards for Adverts, Bill Board Graphics and printing, etc)

-Agriculture, Agro Allied Services (Farms, Commodities Trading, etc)
-Real Estate/Facilities Management (Properties development, management)
-Transportation and Logistics (Marine Shuttle Services, Air, Land, Rail)
-E-commerce
-Minning (granite, gold, copper, etc)
etc.

Each company will be under the MacBriggsons Brand/Conglomerate, but conditions of service, salary, management, etc will be different for each arm of the conglomerate. Each MD for each arm sits at the Conglomerate Board as a member. I am Chairman/CEO. This is the reason Dangote, Chagoury Brothers, etc are my mentors. I have been asking them to tell me who their own mentors are. Hahaha. Typical Structure I envisage is depending on complexities of operations and peculiarities of the business arm: Staff Members, Teams, Units, Supervisors, Managers, Branch, Business Enclave, Sub-Nation (region in a country), Nation, Sub Continental Region, Continental Management, Global HQ.

You may be wondering why I am going into details this much detail when all you said was ''Cool''? This is because I believe strongly in visualization, affirmations and the law of attraction.

What the name of your channel?
Channel has been created but has no content. It is TrendsMediaTechCo. (TRENDS MEDIA). I have not posted any videos. Created it and left it at that. I intend to do a few things with the channel by having various programs aired there to youtube audience. Like I highlighted, one of the numerous things I intend to do is a program on entrepreneurship and creation of multiple income streams.

Amazing, I'm currently a young student and one day I hope to be write an Epistle about my path to success like you smiley
Interesting. Abracadabra (What You Speak is What You Create). So let it be unto you as you have spoken. Just make sure you take action.

The Epistle has a way of allowing you realize where you are coming from and where you are going to. It is an opportunity for self reflection and accountability. What have you done with the opportunities presented to you by life? Did fear and the mental limitations stop you from harnessing these or did you take actions?

I have considered starting my YouTube channel on Entrepreneurship, Business and Investment. Especially from the perspective of an African Male. I am hoping that my knowledge on creating multiple income streams by developing foresight for various business opportunities will help even one person into making the right decisions.

One thing I am avoiding is fame that comes with such channels. I am really not one to be seen everywhere and bothered for selfies. I love living a quiet life, minding my business. However, I am developing a step by step curriculum that worked for me to introduce to as many persons who care to follow them. As these ideas evolve and as business contexts change, I shall continue to update the information therein.

For now I am focused on 3 things:

1. Getting my Family to Canada (Only my Family Members. I intend to keep working/hustling in Nigeria and spread my conglomerate to Canada);
2. Getting the PTDF PHD Scholarship at Imperial College, London (if I can get if for free why spend 15 Million Naira plus on it. Hope to acquire my MBA and NEBOSH IDip while there);
3. Expanding my business venture (Divesting into other sectors e.g. Real Estate/Facility Management, Hospitality/Tourism, Manufacturing, Civil & Environmental Engineering Services, etc.)

thanks but how do I go about the verification?
I do not understand how I will help you further in this regard, Sir.

I clearly posted above that you should contact each directly and ask for evidence or proof of their accreditation status. I also clearly stated that you contact the accreditation body they claim to have been accredited by.

For instance I have done a quick search for NEBOSH on their site and came up with this link. Which is being proactive and inquisitive, traits you will definitely need as a HSE Professional.

https://portal.nebosh.org.uk/NeboshWEB/Studying/Find_a_CourseProvider/

The page shows you the search engine for accredited training providers. Just select the course and the country and the list of centers/partners will appear. This is how most of them are. For DPR Accreditation of a training service provider for the oil and gas industry, ask the company to forward their permit number to you. Type this into the DPR OGISP Permit Verification Page https://ogisp.dpr.gov.ng/validate/ then search their status.

The best thing to do is for you to ask them to show you proof of their claims on accreditation.

Good Luck.

I will not be able to provide this detail Sir. Please kindly do a quick search on the internet. Contact them and independently verify their accreditation status. Some could have been accredited last year but failed to renew this year. You have to verify this personally.

Again you said something about ISPON... please can you explain further on this??

Lastly I just concluded my masters in env. mgt. and want to get HSE certification... do I need to start with hse 1 or just hse 2&3?

Please contact ISPON.GOV.NG directly. To the best of my knowledge, for graduates, you do the General HSE Course and then go straight to do the HSE Level 3 Course. This could have changed. Please contact them directly. I have added the link to their website. You can get the relevant contact details therein.

Pls is it only ISPON the accredited org I can do HSE training with or any other accredited organization?

I also want to know whether this novelle that is being advertised on NL is also ń accredited centre?

Lastly, I graduated studying English. Pls, what are my chances of getting a Job as a safety officer with my academic background? Cos I noticed most pple that get jobs in this line are either Engineering or chemistry graduates..
IS ISPON THE ONLY ACCREDITED ORGANIZATION TO DO HSE TRAINING?

No ISPON is not, can never be the only and should not be. It is like saying that only a particular secondary school called WAEC should offer senior secondary education in Nigeria. WAEC is the exam and you can choose to prepare for the WAEC Exam by attending any secondary school of your choosing. The syllabus and curriculum are there for you to read and prepare for the exam. When you write the exam and pass, WAEC issues you your certificate without bothering about which school you wrote it, as long as such a school has been approved by WAEC for the exam with a valid exam center number.

This is how it is in many countries. Now if we should benchmark by other examinations and other countries, ISPON is supposed to simply state the various levels of certification and the various curriculum for each. Then training centers (accredited by ISPON) teach these courses/curriculum to prospective candidates. These candidates would also have registered with ISPON to sit for the certification exam. ISPON then conducts the exam and provides certificates to those that pass. This is the same way NEBOSH is organised. There are accredited training centers for NEBOSH and after the training, you write the exams.

In my opinion, ISPON has decided to play these two (2) roles because it has the advantage of giving full control and more financial resources. As a mater of fact they are also playing a third role which is Consultancy Services. However it has its setbacks as well. But we cannot also neglect its advantages.

CAN YOU DO HSE TRAINING WITH ANY OTHER ACCREDITED ORGANIZATION?
Yes you can. Feel free to do as many training as you can. But these will not give you Professional ISPON Certification. Training Certification is different from Professional Certification. The last time I checked, to be a Member of ISPON you need to first go through the relevant HSE training (Gen HSE, HSE Levels 1,2,3) with them at ISPON, depending on your level of academic qualification. It is after you have done this that you then can apply to becoming a Professional Certified Member. I doubt if this has changed till date. So if you want Training Certification for various training on HSE, there are many out there. But if you want to be a member of ISPON, you need to have undergone their relevant HSE Training before applying to be a member. You can further contact/call them for an independent verification Sir.

IF NOVELLE IS AN ACCREDITED CENTER?
To know if a training center is accredited by an association or certification body, please contact such an association or certification body either through email or their website. If you want to know if they are accredited by NEBOSH for instance, go to the NEBOSH Website and search for accredited training centers in Africa/Nigeria. There name must be there. In some instances you need to tell the Training Center to provide their accreditation I.D. No. to verify. For instance if Novell claims it is licensed by Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), they need to provide their DPR OGISP Number, so we verify on DPR Website. Do this yourself where possible. Convince yourself. Dont just take our words for it.

CHANCES OF GETTING A JOB AS A GRADUATE IN ENGLISH?
You are correct that a lot of employers require Engineering or Natural/Physical Science Background alongside the professional and training certifications. However, I noticed this is common in many engineering (chemical process, structural, mechanical, electrical, petroleum) domains.
It is usually not common with all companies. The reason is because hazards emanate from physical, chemical processes and phenomena. Even the area of Human Factor and Behavioral Safety emanate from Biological and Psychological Sciences. YOU CAN NOT BE A WELL GROUNDED PROFESSIONAL IF YOU DO NOT HAVE FUNDAMENTAL KNOWLEDGE KNOWLEDGE IN CERTAIN PHYSICAL/NATURAL SCIENCE PRINCIPLES. FACT. How do you calculate drop object risk? How do you determine how far you should keep a flammable material from one that generates heat if you cannot estimate rate of convection, radiation, conduction etc. depending on which applies? I am not talking about knowing these principles in theory, I am talking about applying them to designing and practically controlling hazards and mitigating against risks in a workplace.

However, there are other areas of HSE that you can also further delve into. For instance HSE Culture/Behavior Based Safety. These persons know how to make staff of various companies imbibe and obey HSE Rules and Regulations. The focus is mainly on human psychology and human behaviors. They are so good at promoting safety culture that companies call them to come in periodically,to audit their HSE Management System and see how these rules and regulations on good HSE Practices can be obeyed and respected by all staff. So you can do your ISPON,NEBOSH, etc and focus on HSE Culture. It is one thing to make HSE Rules but another to get people to comply. Firing and sacking people is the last resort. It is better people comply willingly. The professionals in behavior based safety know just the right tools that are required to get operators and workers to comply with HSE Regulations. However, you still need to have some fundamental knowledge of natural sciences.

As a matter of fact there is an institution in France, ICSI, which is focused on this a lot.

Greatken007:
Where did you get your story about one's wife cooking for trainees? As professionals it's not cool to believe in hear say. ISPON has several branches and each branch handles its affairs on Training matters without the knowledge of the president, president only comes in during screening of membership and there is no form of eating and drinking and it is also organized at branch level or sometimes combined with two to three branches. Induction of members is also not organized by the president.
Sir,

With all due respect, I will not join issues with you on this matter. The court cases and documents are there for all to see. Interview sessions for each of the factions are also there for all to see. Any inquisitive mind should go and read about the case. I therefore decline sparing and throwing jabs with words/posts on this matter.

There are currently two (2) factions on the ISPON issue. One operates with the .gov.ng while the other operates with isponnigeria.org. Fact! Call each of the persons claiming to be the President of each and hear them out. The matter of cooking of food was one of the many silly reasons provided by one faction. Nationwide or for a Branch, I do not think I need to get that information. I will not help them resolve matters as silly as catering service which is provided in one branch and perhaps not so in others.

However, it is evidently clear there are issues. And there were many other silly reasons put forth as to why this tussle came to be. Shameful reasons for a body which is supposed to be highly professional and organized. This confusion should not exist. With respect to the duties of the president, I am well versed on his duties, powers and responsibilities. These are all there for people to see as well.

Finally, Sir, in order not to make this thread/topic like other topics/threads on this majorly childish forum (Nairaland), I will not respond on this matter henceforth as my point is made. Let discerning minds search and form their independent opinions on the matter.

Hello everyone..

Pls is there any difference between NISP & ISPON?

I need more clarification Pls.
In addition to what michaelbills has mentioned, please refer to this web page for further details:

https://isponnigeria.org/about-us/

Also see:

https://www.ispon.gov.ng/Home/About

Please be informed that should you be interested in registering for the courses, you are to visit the www.ispon.gov.ng website. The group broke into 2 factions due to shameless and childish leadership tussle of which one of the problems was about the wife of the president being the woman who has been the single contractor cooking meals for trainees during certification training programs, among other silly reasons for the leadership tussle. Eventually, the ispon.gov.ng group seemed to have won the case in court and as such granted approval by the Government to use the .gov.ng web address.

Good luck.

Please house I need your advice. I am one of the successful candidate from the just concluded NNPC recruitment. With a BSc in life sciences, I was hinted that my posting will most likely be HSE as a safety officer. My question is how can I develop a career towards HSE and what are the necessary certification(s) and how do I go about obtaining it. Thanks as I anticipate your kind responses.
If you can, quickly register for ISPON General HSE and HSE Levels 3. This will give you some basic knowledge on the issue of HSE. The principles learnt can then be applied to Oil and Gas Industry.

Start with ISPON. Leave NEBOSH for now, if finance is not a problem you can do NEBOSH Latter. Start with the Basics before moving into NEBOSH which has a larger syllabus. ISPON will be like a Mock NEBOSH to you. If you perform well in ISPON then you can prepare and attempt NEBOSH.

People will tell you to do NEBOSH. But please note that if Nigeria was a sane society, no one with NEBOSH would have been able to practice HSE Sciences, Engineering and Management without ISPON Training and Certification.

My advice still remains that you start with ISPON, then graduate into NEBOSH IGC, after which you can do other training courses and perhaps an MSc. in Safety Engineering.

Hello I recently registered for NEBOSH AMD my class starts January 27th 2020 I don't want to do it twice so I need help with study materials answer past questions I will appreciate if you can assist me with where I can download those material PDF or word. I look forward to your reply.

quote author=TenthMan post=85252018]

We have always advised to start small, depending on your knowledge and experience in HSE Sciences, Engineering and Management. If you are new to the field the advise is you start small. Do the UK HSE or ISPON HSE Levels applicable to a graduate. Then you can advance to NEBOSH. Please note that NEBOSH is more intense than 'UK HSE' . It also has more modules, more expensive with more course content. It is also very structured. The classes are intense for newbies and exams are written almost immediately.

If you have the funds, start from the Basics. Which is ISPON HSE /'UK HSE'. After having a general idea of what you are delving into, you can then progress into NEBOSH and other advanced courses.

Another thing you can do is to get the NEBOSH/ISPON Materials to study with on your own. This early enough study will give you a head start when you start the real courses. So try and get the free study materials. Get yourself acquainted with the course content, then go ahead and start with the HSE Levels 1,2,3 then progress to NEBOSH.

Good luck.
Apologies but the NEBOSH Materials are not easy to get conventionally.

Typically, these materials are forwarded to email addresses.

Any inconvenience(s) caused is/are regretted.

Good luck.

Hello all, have been reading comments on this platform and it's been educative . I already did my HSE 1,2&3 with instittute of safety management (iosm, uk) through a reputable training agency here in Nigeria. I would love to put in for Nebosh(though finance is still a challenge).. I will like to be added to the WhatsApp group (08066248626) and at same time, I will love if anyone can send me the nebosh materials and past questions. Thanks.email address:bjatmosphere2011@yahoo.com
I have sent you NEBOSH Materials.

Please as a professional with over 15 years professional experience in HSE Sciences, Engineering and Management, I urge you to get a more professional email address. This email address ''bjatmosphere2011'' is something a lot of persons will look at in the professional world and then conclude on your personality. It might be viewed as a poor attempt as sexual innuendo and subliminal messaging.

Worst part is this might not even be the case. However, you wont be there to defend your email address and how you did not use 'bj' to connote anything sexual. The HR Personnel could be right or wrong but please avoid giving people a bad first impression whenever you can.

I will advice that you change this email (create a new one) to a more professional style and look. Preferably, use your surname and your initials or your first name and initials before the extension @yahoo/gmail/etc/.com. Opening an email address is free. Kindly consider this professional advice.

Good luck.

Took me one week to go through pages 1 to 99. HSE is an interesting and broad field of study. A friend of mine came with Hybrid hse company. I was interested but reading through the thread the notable accredited Centre popping up was Novelle Centre. Hybrid hse starts with aosh. I would start with ISPON but do I need to do Aosh in hybrid or skip to NEBOSH? Is Aosh just like General hse,hse12&3 of ISPON?
ISPON is for Nigeria. You are Nigerian. By law and if this country was a sane one, no one should even call himself/herself a HSE Professional or practice HSE Sciences, Engineering and Management without being certified by ISPON. So kindly start with ISPON. As a graduate you are to do the General Training and then go straight to level 3. Please make sure the contact you reach is the one on ispon.gov.ng . Kindly avoid any other websites please.

Now, by my view point, AOSH (Administration for Occupational Safety and Health) is to the UK what BSCP is to the USA and what CBCSP is to Canada. AOSH is however in recent times, trying to gain more international recognition and expand outside the UK.

NEBOSH is , at this moment, still more internationally recognized. Especially by commonwealth countries including, Australia, Africa and the UAE/Middle East. It is very well recognized in Nigeria as well. For now its street credibility in the professional world is high. Employers are impressed when you have a University Degrees, you are ISPON certified , and NEBOSH IGC certified, plus any others.

Our advice will be that after you ISPON/NISP kindly go straight to NEBOSH IGC. Meanwhile, to digress a little the BSCP courses are quite more technical than that of NEBOSH. So ISPON and NEBOSH IGC are good to test the waters before going into other certifications.

Good luck.

also thinking of selling gas cylinder and burners. help a bro please
Please note that the Gas Refill Business is actually illegal by the Nigerian Petroleum Regulations.

Yes I understand that a lot of people do it in various areas, but by law and existing regulations, this is an illegal business.

If you set up this business, please note that the DPR which is the Chief Regulator of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry (in conjunction with either the DSS or Civil Defense or the Police) will conduct operations to shut you down at various times.

You might be lucky not to have their attention in your area. But note that it is an illegal business.

November last year, I quoted awelekiti & the10thman that I was willing to work for them..even if it would be free, maybe during the process I might make my first million..no response from any.

It wasn't painful that they ignored, it motivated me to be bigger and better.

This is October 2019 and I can't claim to be a millionaire now but I worth way way more than a million and the story is not what it used to be.

By next year December..I will update this thread with "I am now a millionaire".
Congratulations.

1. I do not open nairaland accounts conventionally. I do not use real email addresses. Please look at my moniker during my post on this topic and now.

2. How do you work for me when you have no idea how my business is structured, arranged, organised, located.

3. I personally would not want you to work for me for free. It would seem to me like I am taking advantage of your situation. It doesn't matter if it doesn't bother you. It will bother me and the feeling of guilt and a troubled conscience will be mine.

4. I would personally have preferred to have a talk with you, guide and motivate you, rather than have you work for me for free.

I am glad that in the midst of responses not coming from myself and the other individual, you have been able to handle matters. And that is the spirit worth holding firm to. If they chose not to help you, do not chose not to help yourself. Congrats on your breakthrough and may it encourage you to do even far better. Ensure to integrate consistency, sustainability and continuity business endeavors. We all keep striving until we hit 5m, 10m, 50m, 100m, 500m, 1B, etc., etc., etc. Some have gone far in this and we bless God for it.

As for me, I shall be handing administration of my business in pursuit of my Phd. overseas through the PTDF Scholarship. I have spoken it and it is therefore created. What I speak is what I create.

RomanceRe: Does It Mean I Should Accept My Girlfriend Back? by TenthMan(m): 11:04am On Jan 11, 2020
Thewriter2018:
Good day everyone

My girlfriend and I started dating in June 2017. At that time I didn't have a girlfriend at all.

Before I prepositioned her, I did my research to know that she wasn't in a relationship and she helped me resolve that she isn't seeing another man.

However, She aggreed to date me and assured me that she would remain faithful until we actually breakup.

We do have some minor problems occasionally but we resolve it before 3 days elapses.

Around October 2019, I noticed that a guy normally visits her in her shop (she charges people's phone and batteries). I asked her but she told me that the guy only came to charge his phone and that she doesn't know the guy.

Fast forward to November 2019, I visited her shop without informing her that I would, unfortunately that same guy was holding her and she was resisting him when I came in.

I shook the guys hand and hers before leaving. I was angry with her but I just left. So, later in the day....
Listen carefully,

As humans, we are made up of Genes, Genes activate/create Our INSTINCT based on environmental cues, Instincts lead to THOUGHTS, thoughts lead to FEELINGS and feelings lead to BEHAVIOR. What can break this instinctive reaction is how reasonable one is with his/her thoughts. Humans are special, like I will always say, because we have a strong gift of reasoning and we can be conditioned to some extent to override the basic instincts. We can reason and decide and take decisions based on reason. Step on a snake, it strikes! It doesnt think. Step on a human, it hurts, but the person reacts in very many ways based on whether it hurt or not. Or whether it was intentional or not. Whether it was in a very comfortable environment or a stressful environment, etc. And even this varies with individuals.

What does this have to do with anything? Well, how she reacts to men chasing her is based on a lot of these factors. She will not just shoo away the guy because that is what you expect. Even if that is what you expect, not all women act like that. A lot of women and men may deceive themselves in their mind and claim that they will act that way, however in real life they may not. Why, because it is a pleasant experience being desired and chased and secondly in their mind it is an overreaction, or in their mind they fear what they might loose or the repercussions. The fact that she saved your name once as that of a lady means she has been adventurous and probably is. It is exciting to do these things. Sneak out, visit a guy, sneak in. Hide the excitement, etc.

All individuals want to be the best of themselves and they enjoy the process of being the best of themselves. Humans do this through various ways. She might enjoy the feeling and excitement of the adventure and that the guy gives. She enjoys the experience and she might not be is not necessarily monogamous. Humans naturally are not. It is the power of conditioning and reasoning (religious, ethnic, etc) that keeps us this way (in monogamy) and make some cherish monogamy. The reason why women have been forced more with the responsibility to be monogamous is because she is considered weaker, of less value and she relies on the men mostly for survival and support and validation in the society. If women were in the shoes of men, working, protecting, providing, etc. they will have 3 husbands too.

The fear of losing you may condition her to respect your desire for not to see the guy or it may not. She is a woman and men will chase her. You cannot stop it. Unless you want to murder her or keep her locked up forever. These are crimes. And also while you are reading this part, please also note that revealing her nudes is a crime. You may go to jail or be caught up in serious legal issues. Especially if her family members know what they are doing. Secondly, for now her mind might not abhor having more than one sexual partner/mate. She is most likely afraid of the excitement and other things you provide, but note that experience with one person CAN NEVER BE ABSOLUTE. We only reason and decide to find contentment in whatever partner we have chosen. For now she has not taken this decision. She seems to love the experiences that you both give to her.

Finally, how are you sure because she is in the shop all day she has not had sex with the guy? If she can sneak to your house, why do you think she cannot do the same for him.

I and my gal have been together for 4 years now going to 5, and I have intentions of cementing our friendship this year Atleast with a proposal when I secure my first job and I did marine engineering and have processed my papers to go onboard,my gal has been a blessing to me cos she's understanding, caring and very hardworking, she will be 22 this year while I will be 29 . I met her as a teenager, now adult, I'm still there, I opened her eyes to the world positively. infact the first bank account she ever had was opened by me, I guided her through life till this time, her family has not been really supportive but I keep on trying my best to help and she does the same too for me, she was there right from my 200level till 500 now I'm a graduate. at a point i was like a father, since she has non, I was like an elder brother, husband best friend and lover,. I'm her first experience, pal we've really gone through thin and thick together and I can't wait to give her the best within my capabilities as God gives me strength in this life. But pals my fears wants to finally come to pass. over the past 1 year she has always felt I'm not giving her chance for her to meet and make friends with make folks, and I keep on asking what kind of friends does she wants to make with other guys, is it the one that will drift us apart? but come to think of it, there was no time I stopped her from making friends with make folks, and over the years she has always felt I'm controlling her, since I'm a one woman man and there was no time I dated two women at the same time and I expect that from my woman. Pals since last year August I came from service I have been facing allot of threats from this relationship. and it looks as if,if I give her a single chance she will so much cheat, and I will not believe it. I broke in into something that was almost as serious as what I'm having with her with another guy. that was when I came back from service and the guy in question wasn't in town and they were seriously calling themselves every second to check on each other, I was really going through pains till we resolved that and my gal would have visited that guy as soon as he returned back to town if I did not returned back too that's if she has not gone there before , so to build back trust we had to exchange phone passwords, so I could know who she's was talking with and any constant caller I would want to know the individual vice versa cos as a man that I am and who knows what he wants, I demand absolute faithfulness from my partner and this time no privacy so it has been smooth but I keep seeing threats and for the fact that she has betrayed me before. pals and question I want to ask is this, is it in every gal's/women's circle that they must give in to every tom and dick that wants relationship with them, is it a must that every gal must go through several relationships before settling down, must they always go through heart breaks before making a choice, I have seen even those younger than her having good relationships or is it in the age? and believe me most of these guys just want to sex with her that is all, and I really wanted to do something on her head this year, but the threats keeps coming and she just got admitted, soon be leaving for school though the same town with me, and this has been on my mind, as soon as possible, I might be leaving for offshores, right now I'm even contemplating leaving her cos I feel she might be lost completely now that she will be leaving me for school, and she's this type that longs for material things, and after the last one she did I made up my mind that the might not be another chance again with me if she hurts me again. Pals please your candid advice, cos I keep seeing this tendency in her wanting to explore not minding her serious relationship with me.
Every human and all living things have many things in common. One very general and important thing they have is trying to become a FULL FLEDGED LIFE. Every living thing wants to become the best of its kind and individuality. All plants want to grow and flower as best as they can given the available resources and conducive environment. Same thing with all animals. Same with humans. Humans want to get the best of experiences and see how far they can go. In doing this they seek experience in many ways. Some drink and party, some do drugs, some choose church/mosque/religion, some choose extreme sports, some choose being social and enjoying social life, some decided to look inward and be alone, some choose knowledge seeking, etc. In most cases humans combine these things to various degrees. All these in order to experience life. To be a full fledged life. To be the best of themselves/ourselves as they/we can be. Unfortunately, a lot of these activities have the potential to harm physically, emotionally and psychologically.

There are three major influences of a human. Basic Instincts, Conditioning by Society and Personal Experiences. These are the things that control our drive to control the basic instinct of going all out to experience all we can. Based on instinct, she is in the stage of life where she will explore the possibilities of her being a woman and a human and the attention that comes with it. Especially being a woman. The possibility of being a human and interacting socially with as many individuals as she can. She may not realize the fact that a lot of people may have no good intentions for her. You said she as just gained admission into a Tertiary Educational Institution. This makes her quite inexperienced and lacking of adequate wisdom to some level. So please kindly note that the desire to explore. The desire to be the best of humans by craving attention, doing things to get noticed, doing as much things as she can to feel good about herself is what is driving her. Now, the level of conditioning by her parents, the society etc. could be an influential force on her behavior. It can either make her be more careful or more carefree or indifferent (indifference doesn't really exist). You are one experience to her. There are other experiences beckoning. She will eat various food, try out various activities, interact with various females, AND SHE DEFINITELY WANTS TO INTERACT WITH VARIOUS MALES AS WELL. Only experientially, she does not see the risk. She does not know the instinct of a man which is to procreate all the time. She hardly understands that this is what drives over 98 % of male interaction with the female. As for You, You do. You see these things. Because you have been more conditioned to see these things and you have experienced more of situations like this.

One thing you must note is that she will explore in the way her mind tells her to. The following motivates every specie (1) Pleasure Seeking (2) Pain Avoidance and (3) Energy Conservation. You wont be with her in school. If the level of conditioning is not strong enough to prevent her from interacting with male folks, etc. She will interact. If her experiences does not teach her the dangers of interacting with male folks without being very strong psychologically and emotionally, she will go ahead and do so. Note that the attention you give could vary from the attention the other individual gives to her. She experiences another exciting side of her with him. Especially if he is well experienced in the art of looking for a woman's need and innermost desire and satisfying it/or pretending to satisfy it, then turning endearment/friendship into romantic/sexual feelings.

So you value the fact that you can control yourself and you have good plans for her but at her stage in life those aren't the things she is immediately trying to experience. Those are far off. She intends to experience those things you provide when the time comes. You are giving her experiences way beyond her years. And she has not been conditioned to think about the marital/marriage prospects you intend to provide.

My responses are objective (knowledge/fact based) and you must know I answer without any form of bias (cultural, religious, tribal, ethnic, class, gender, age, race, nationality, blood, acquaintance, etc.).

Please house I want to know if I can go for masters in business admin with a B. Sc chemistry certificate
An MBA is for everyone. You do not need to do any Post Graduate Diploma to get admission. If this is so, I can bet that it is so perhaps in Nigeria which still practices an archaic education system with some very silly requirements by the Universities.

An MBA is classified as a General Graduate Degree. It is expected to teach students technical, managerial, and leadership skills in the administration of any business enterprise, whether Government, Private or Non-Profit/Non-Governmental.

With your BSc. degree you should be able to get admission. Perhaps while you are in school a business idea can come up. Perhaps to set up a chemical or chemical service company or in any other area of interest.

Good luck.
