Education › Is An Iron Sponge Also Called A Steel Wool? by Teophilus96(op): 11:55pm On Mar 31, 2021 |
Please I have a problem trying to get a steel wool for a project work, but then I'm wondering if the steel wool is not actually the normal iron sponge we use in washing the back of our pots back then. They say that what we are looking for sometimes can be right there under our nose. Please the image below is a steel wool, I'll love to know if it's also the normal iron sponge.
If the steel wool is not an iron sponge, please let me know where I can get it. Thanks.

ditha: Hi,
1. Don't wait till you graduate!
2.GRE and English Exams are REQUIRED in most countries for graduate education. there are not *COMPULSORY*. Be advised to write them if you have the resources, it's a plus. (Most first class graduates receive fully funded scholarships without any of those exam_I am a witness)
3. Lookout for fully funded scholarships like Mastercard, Daad, Erasmus, Commonwealth...you can find their threads on NL. Be versatile
4.Make good relationships with your lecturers, preferrably professors, especially your project supervisor and HOD _u will need them for recommendations later
5.Engage in volunteer/leadership activities _you will need these when write your SOP.
6.Start learning how to write good essays, research for schools and start connecting with international lecturers _ professors on social media , Twitter, LinkedIn. This will help prepare your mind
7.try some online courses _this is good for ur CV Lols. It's been a year and some months I created this thread. Thanks for for your advice. I really have MasterCard foundation Scholarship in mind for McGill (Bioresources Engineering). I just hope it's not too competitive so I can easily get it lols. Unfortunately I won't make a first class. But I still have a Cgpa above 4.2+ and likely the Best graduating of my class. Does this give me an edge even tho I didn't make the first class? Yes I have some materials on GRE, I will take it during my NYSC. |

Good morning everyone Pls I'll like to know if one can run two Courses(Major and minor)at Masters during the course of study?? Is it possible, even tho it may be a scholarship??
I have dreams of Studying Bioresources Engineering in McGill through Scholarship; and at this period of my life, I have also found Data Science fascinating. And most of the job offer of a Data Scientist requires an advanced degree in Computer Science and other related fields. Please is it possible for me to run the two while Bioresources Engineering and Computer Science will be my Major and Minor respectively??
Thanks as I anticipate your response. |

Sorry I don't mean any offence, but you're the biggest fool ever was! I can't believe you could be that foolish and stupid at the same time. Anyways, I don't know how you can heal from this, but believe me it's only a matter of time, you'll move on with your life. Just delete everything about her(pictures, contacts, social media etc) forget about her and see her as an enemy forever (except she comes to appologize). You'll be fine |

Ope4Christ: Take the following steps:
1. Concentrate on your current study and graduate with good grades.
2. When you are doing your NYSC program obtain the following GRE(Q165, V165 and AW 4.0) and IELTS or TOEFL. To have good grade you have to read, read and read which will increase your chances for scholarship.
3. Do not limit your scholarship search to one country but widen your scope of getting scholarship and VISA. Some people can get scholarship and yet be denied VISA especially by USA, Canada, Australia and UK because of their VISA application process. You can try Germany and Sweden (Schools with English programs) whose VISA processes are not as tough as USA, Canada, Australia and UK.
4. Wish you good luck Wow thanks a whole lot for taking out time to give me a reply. Thank you so much. Please permit me to express myself and and ask you some questions based on your advice above. They might even sound foolish But pls permit me sir (1}. By Gods grace I'll make a first-class or a strong 2:1 (2). GRE, IELTS, TOEFL I have hearc a whole lot about them, but I still don't know their essence. I know that they are all exams but I wonder what they are needed for. Pls if you can tell me. And you said I need good grades. Do you mean that I need good grades in those exams(I.e IELTS, GRE, TOEFL) aside my First Degree result?? (3). Thank you I'll now start considering other countries too. VISA application?? What makes it difficult to obtain VISA from those countries you mentioned ?? (4) Thanks for your wishes sir. God bless you. I await your reply sir. Thanks. |

Stonecoldsteve: In the area of publication record, you will not be committed financially as all costs will be borne by your lecturer/professor or the postgraduate student you're working with. Your job will be to help with taking readings for experiments or presenting data.[
For Networking, you can go through the professor's publications on Google scholar or Researchgate and politely request for a copy of their publication you're interested in. Ask questions on their methodology, conclusion or any part of the paper you may/may not have issues with. They will be happy to respond though they are very busy people.
You do not need to write any exam to apply for funding. When you are ready to apply, let the professor know your intention and send him/her your CV and transcript/degree certificates in a mail. If the professor is impressed, he/she invites you for a skype interview where all the skills outlined on your CV are assessed.
You can send me a private message if you have any more queries Wow Thanks a lot sir. I seem not to know how to use the PM till now. But with all this piece above, I'll surely start right away! Thank you so much and may God bless. I'll let you know when I need your further advice sir. Thanks |

Stonecoldsteve: Hi, It's great you are already thinking of your future at this stage. It's also nice you have a firm consciousness of how much your final class of degree will affect your future academic endeavours. As much as good grades are nice to have, most recruiters are more interested in how much transferable skills you have been able to gather. There are five things you will need to consider: 1. Your background: Your background should tally with your intended postgraduate degree if you want to have a strong application for funding. For Bioresources Engineering, you should be able to show a background in Agric. Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biology or anything related. 2. Publication record: This will set you apart from other students competing with you for limited funds. Approach your professors, masters or PhD students and volunteer to assist with their research in exchange for co-authorship. It will be tedious for you but rewarding in the end. This early collaboration will also help you with easy references when you begin your application. You can also try and publishing in the student category of conferences related to Bioresources Engineering or your background. 3. Your grades: You are already conscious of this so keep your foot on the gas pedal. 4. Programming and Statistical skills: Learn how to use MATLAB and also learn basic programming like c++. Have some idea of ANOVA and Response Surface Methodology (RSM). Adding these skills in your CV will set you apart. 5. Networking:Start researching Professors in McGill who you hope to work with and focus on their research interests. Professors will only supervise you and offer you funding if your research interest aligns with theirs. Start a relationship by emailing them and asking questions about their research or other questions around their area of specialization. This will help you you when you are finally ready to apply to McGill Wow! Thanks a lot for taking out time to write this. I really appreciate. From the points you listed above, I think I am lacking in the area of (1)Networking, and (2)) PUBLICATION RECORD In the area of NETWORKING Lols, how is it easy to start asking a Prof from MCGILL questions? I mean what if one fumbles by not giving a right answer to a question from him. Wouldn't it be a red flag?? But I'll like to know how to do it. In the area of PUBLICATION RECORD Well I think this should be easier, since I can approach any of my lecturers, but I hope it won't cost me much finances?? lols. |

sherylbakky: It is better he starts making plans now biko, the graduate first theory is now affecting some people negatively.
Don't do this, graduate first. Don't do that, graduate first.
And after graduation u get to know that the "graduate first" slang is nothing but absolute deadwood.
Nigeria situation is now more than this graduate first ideology. Exactly! Thanks for the eye opener |

Good day Nairalanders There is a wise saying that goes like this " To know the road ahead, ask those coming back*. Also there is another one which says *Make hay while the sun shines*.
I am currently in my 400 level and I intend to study abroad by means of schorlaship. I am currently on a CGPA above 4.0 (under a 5.0 scale) after my 300 level (meaning that I still have 4 semesters to go). I may make a first-class or may be a strong 2:1. But whichever the case, I know for sure that by God's grace, I am coming out with a very good result.
I intend doing my Masters abroad after my first degree, but I am lost. I don't know where to start from. I want to make hay while the sun shines, and also, I want to know how to go about it. Those who have gone this road I am about to take should please give me a detailed steps on how to secure a fully funded Scholarship abroad. I would really appreciate.
Mind you, I have MCGILL on my mind, and I intend studying Bioesources Engineering or any related course. Thank you. |
