If you are so confident in your analysis, then the North should stop shying away from conducting a credible census. The lies this country is built on are just too much. 1. The North certainly doesn't have as much population as the claim as natural geography cannot lie. In all West African countries, the North has a lesser population because of the obvious reason if topography. Only Nigeria is different. 2. There are way more Christiansthan Muslims. Obasanjo dropped the intention of recording religion in the last census due to agitation from northern muslims, afraid their lies would be exposed. I know countless practicing Christians who were born Muslims. Funny, nobody in my circle knows one Christian turned Muslim. Keep deceiving yourself. If you are sure, then let's make this elections onky about religion and see who wins. Let every church speak against Muslim candidates the way the do against Christian candidates in the mosques. Nonsense. author=Aboki99 post=113676578]This is puerile! Political parties care about a winning combination. As a northerner, I know something for sure; If Tinubu chooses a xtian as his VP he stands not a BAT in hell's chance of becoming Nigeria's president. So the northern Muslims who constitute the biggest voting bloc in Nigeria will siddon look the minorities whose combined voting power is nowhere near theirs to rule over them? Only with a Muslim Muslim ticket does the Apc stands a chance, otherwise they should as well quit the race even before it started. Reason? The muslims are the majority in the NW, NE, NC and SW(for SW do the math state by state). The only area where Christians predominate are SE and SS. In fact, if not for the magnanimity of Muslims in Nigeria, a xtian can never be Nigeria's president! Yes, you heard me right because the muslims are the majority in this country even according to the CIA factbook (Google it and see).
|
Let me advice you lady. Please ignore the rantings of that religious bigot trying to guilt trip you. Sexual urge is a natural animal reaction. Humans, frog even house fly etc have sex. Masturbation is not a sin. You haven't committed adultery or fornicated. The concern in it us that it can become addictive. And bible frowns on anything that's done beyond moderation. Nothing should enslave you except enslaved by the Hoky Ghost. Please help yoyrself by yourself to quench the burning desire before it leads you into proper sin. quote author=Optimistic4life post=111326719]I'm trying hard to live a life free from sin and sexual immorality and I am doing pretty well but of recent, my hormones/body have been raging and I am finding it difficult to cope. It's 18months I have been separated and there is no getting back together. Were you ever in my situation, how did you overcome without involving in sex/masturbation? I just need some words of encouragement. Its really not easy and it has become some sort of distraction. The reason I do not want to have a male friend is because of my fear for God.
|

You have to be a man about this. You already made some mistakes but you can still correct things. Firstly, you have to approach the matter traditionally (western ideally is OK, but even they admit that cultures are different and gave great influence on conflict resolution). 1. No more apologies to your eife and her family. 2. Request for a man2man meeting with her father. Go along with one or two older men to support you. 3. If her father refuses to meet, then inform your family and arrange same meeting with her father. 4. End the meeting with him on the mote that you love your wife and you want her back but she must know her limits. 5. If he doesn't play ball, then let him know you would give dome time for a rethink before proceeding to end marriage. 6. Maintain contact with your wife. If she doesn't pick or respond, still maintain contact, for years records. If she responds, let her know its time to come home and that both of you should learn lessons from the situation. 7. Register both of you for counselling but separately. In due course, you fo it together. Selah uote author=Noah9 post=109541484]I want to thank everyone for their advice and I really appreciate everyone involvement about the thread I created 2week ago. Here is the link. https://www.nairaland.com/6933724/regretted-actions-please-me Great people of this forum, honestly things have never been better ever since that incident and I wish our minds are like show glass so that y'all would see how sorry I am inside of me. I messed up and I'm really sorry. 5 days after I created that post above, My wife traveled with my daughter to her parents house to stay without telling me. Since that incident my wife haven't said a word to me, Not a single word. Sometimes I wonder if she's the same woman I married. I'm frustrated, incoherent and I'm losing my mind. I've been good to her, I provide 85% for my family while she bring just 15% yet I don't complain, I'm romantic and good looking, since we married I don't keep female friends not to talk of cheating. Yet She denied me sex over 2 months without any reasons, that was why I acted that way and I'm so sorry. On Tuesday here, My friend and I traveled to her parents house, they did not even welcome us well, I don't know what she must have told her parents but I explained myself, knelt down and asked for forgiveness. She refused to come home with me, her parents were just starring at me like I'm some demon, I requested for my daughter but she refused to release her and I've already paid my daughter's school fees for the term. Her parents said they would register my daughter in a new school, that my wife need some space for now. Please don't call me a weak man, I'm family oriented, I don't want broken home, if she needed some space that's not a problem, I can give her all the space in the world but let her come home. It's not proper raising a child in a broken home...I'm really losing my mind. I faced query today at work because I traveled without informing my Boss which I know he won't allow me and I know how much would be deducted from my salary. what I'm going through now I can't wish my enemies and I wish I could turn back the hands of time. I messed up. Beloveth Pls I need advice.
|

As you cant stand common shame of calling off wedding; then you must be able and willing to stand the shame of being battered and divorced with young children to cater for. A woman calling off a wedding is not shameful by any standard. Please do the needful and ruuuuuun. If its family pressure, tell them to marry him themselves; you are not a sacrificial lamb. quote author=Warrior14 post=107031934]I will be getting married in 3 weeks time but I'm not happy I'm getting married to a man who has beaten me two different times. I'm getting married to a man who is heartless and doesn't know how to love and treat a woman right. I'm getting married to a man who does not have a mind of his own. I'm getting married but I'm already thinking of divorce. I'm overwhelmed! I'm physically strong but I'm weak. Just don't want to wake up from my sleep so I won't have to continue with this marriage plans as I can't stand the shame of calling off the marriage at this time.
|
My dear friend, I hate to tell you this but your wife is already cheating on you. 1. Not having sex with you - this is a typical sign/behavior when a woman is already cheating. She either doesn't desire to give herself to you anymore since she has someone doing the job better. Or, she doesn't want to do a mechanical activity with you and risk calling out her lovers name. 2. Always picking fights - this is another giveaway sign. Everything you do just irritates her. She's wondering how she got stuck with you. Probably doesn't even see you as a man anymore. 3. Accusations - Always accusing you is a reverse psychology activity that cheaters use to try and justify themselves. The objective is to say, if you are cheating and they are too, then it's balanced. No need to feel guilty. 4. Refusing to swear - she was certain you wouldn't be able to swear and that would justify her cheating on you as well. It's kinda linked to number 3 above. What you should do. 1. Set a trap to catch her - she's most likely cheating with an ex. Women hardly stray far from where they've been chopped before. You know Okafors Law right? When you catch her, you decide what to do thereafter. Stay in the marriage or send her away. 2. Ignorance is bliss - just live with her refusal to swear and believe she's faithful. 3. Involve her family - inform her family that she must swear or leave your house. Choose wisely because you would bear the consequences of your choice. Best of luck |

The original post was a comparison between someone earning $100k and the equivalent N50m annually. It was not about the ratio of people within the income bracket. My assertions has been in line with this comparison and I went further to compare with $65k which is the estimated average income in the US. Again, I make bold to say, all the things you enjoy in the US are available in Naija if you can afford it. Constant power, good healthcare etc. And like I pointed out as well, they are from private service providers not PUBLIC. The bane of existence in a 3rd world developing nation is lack of PUBLIC infrastructure. Who said there are no ambulances in Naija? hell, there are even helicopter evacuation services!! The biggest mistake Nigeria has made so far is BUHARI. I know the shock as the value of the Naira continues to plunge whenever one travels out. Before then, I know countless professionals who returned to jobs here because the exchange rate was not this bad and so the allure of the Dollar was less. The fortunate ones had their contracts in FOREX so they are still balling. Till today, there's no professional I know that wont prefer to earn in Dollars whilst living/working in Nigeria. Simple reason is, YOU CAN SAVE MORE and DO MORE cos the cost of living is way way less here. In terms of standard of living, yes there is a gap between the abroad and here but with money, you can close the gap a little bit. THAT'S ALL I'M SAYING. We are not comparing apple to apple; we are only speaking within the context of the original post. And, the discussion is not about how much you earn or I earn. I believe though that by now you would have guessed I have lived there, luckily I still had the means to move back to Naija without losing much. That's why I keep saying to people - because I know well-off folks who jumped to relocate and are regretting it today - to always think well well. As a matter of fact, I recommend abroad if you are Single and under 30. If not, you must have an in-demand professional background as the brand-drain from Naija is still very much operational. It shall be well with Nigeria again. We shall see the demise of the troublers of the country; and we shall occupy our rightful place in the comity of nations...one day. abbey621: |
Bottomline is healthcare is a lot more expensive in the US; oya compare $300 with 20k na. Even ambulance does not arrive in seconds as they show in the movies Then you have to pay good money for the service. I never said healthcare was better, I only said it is good when you have money in Naija. The healthcare in the abroad is so fantastic yet people die. I also never said there are more HNI's in Nigeria compared to the US so no need to compare absolute numbers of folks in that income bracket. Question you need to answer is why we have folks returning to jobs in Nigeria from US. I know many. The main issue with Nigeria is the typical third world economy issue of inadequate PUBLIC infrastructure. Note I said PUBLIC. Aside roads, most other infra can be provided privately at good quality but at high cost (though still cheaper compared to US). My previous comments were wrt savings between a $65k 4-person family in a good neighborhood in US compared to a parallel N32m earner in Nigeria. This is because the cost of living here is much less. That's why our brothers are dying to go and earn dollars and come and spend it here cos what you can acquire here is a lot more (Price Purchase Parity). Abroad is sweet o, but it's not the heaven a lot of folks make it out to be. abbey621: |
I get your point but you need to understand that N32m is the equivalent of $65k which means the US guy earns $5.4k monthly whilst his Naija counterpart is pulling N2.7m monthly. So in essence, whilst the Naija guy is saving N1.5m monthly the US guy can barely save if he is going to live in similar housing in a reasonable area. A lot of folks today save their kids uni tuition well ahead in foreign currency. In a month, the Naija guy saves about $3K for school fees, vacation etc. In terms of Tesla or acquiring stuff, the only advantage the US guy has is the credit economy/credit score they enjoy there. But the Naija guy can plan and get his own outright over time. These days, Naija guys play the stock market in the US sef. Healthcare is good in Naija when you have money o; don't let nobody fool you. Plus its way cheaper as well. With 20k you can remove your tooth in Naija compared to thousands in US. Abroad sweet no doubt, but if you are doing well over here in Naija, then relocating to the abroad is not for you; just go there and enjoy your money. Selah SIRTee15: |
How many people earn $100k annually in US? About 70% of Households in US earn below 100k annually. So you must be a big boy to earn that much in the US. But the key issue is how much is left after paying bills and taxes. In Naija, the equivalent is about N32m which comes to about N2.7m monthly. Do you know what you can do with N2.7m monthly? If you live in a duplex in Ikeja GRA (swimming pool inside your compound etc.), your annual rent is about N6m, so broken into months it comes to about N500k; and that is the major monthly expense o. By the time you remove rent and all other expenses, lets say every thing comes to N1.2m monthly (that is on a balling level o!). You can comfortably save N1.5m every month for a family of 4. Now look at the US with approx $8k monthly, to live in a townhouse in a good part of town (their version of Ikeja GRA high brow area), you are looking at about $2.5k monthly (for a reasonable house). Monthly bills and every other costs for a family of 4 lets say another $3.5k (keeping it conservative). It leaves you with $2k for savings. That is approx N1m. It's pretty close overall though the dude in Naija also has the luxury of a driver and maid. Bottomline is, people in that pay range are living comfortably and stacking paper both at home and in the abroad. But the person in Naija has the advantage of saving more overall. Plus, he enjoys all the amenities you can think about; good schools, good healthcare, constant power, water and security etc. uthlaw: |
$65k is approx N32m which translates to N2.7m per month. With N2.7m monthly in Nigeria, there's no quality of life anybody earning $65k in US can live better than the person in Naija. Please stop the stories. okuta007: |
YOUR UNCLE HAS NOT TOLD YOU THE TRUTH. YOU THINK ITS EASY TO JUST GET A JOB IN THE US? IS IMMIGRATION LAWYER FREE OR EVEN CHEAP? IS THE ASYLUM PROCESS THAT EASY THAT YOU JUST APPLY AND INSTANTA YOU GET TEMPORARY ASYLEE STATUS? GETTING A CAR IN THE US IS PROBABLY ONE OF THE EASIEST THINGS TO DO COS 2ND HAND CARS ARE CHEAP, ESPECIALLY THE OLDER ONES, SO THATS NOT REALLY AN ACHIEVEMENT. THE LAND HE BOUGHT IN NAIJA, WHAT IS THE QUALITY OF THE LAND? I CAN BET IS ONE OF THOSE LAND DEEP INSIDE BUSH. AMBULANCE IS NOT LIKE WE SEE IN THE MOVIES OH. IT TAKES TIME TO ARRIVE, THATS THE FIRST SHOCKER. THEN YOU PAY FOR THE TRIP TO HOSPITAL. IM SURE HE DOESNT HAVE INSURANCE SO HE IS LUCKY THEY TOOK HIM IN AS AN EMERGENCY CASE OTHERWISE HE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN TREATED. ALSO, KIDNEY STONE IS NOT INSTANTLY FATAL; HOSPITALS IN NAIJA HANDLE SUCH ROUTINELY. ABROAD IS NOT HEAVEN...LOOK VERY WELL BEFORE JUMPING BECAUSE ANOTHER PERSON JAPA IS NOT YOUR OWN JAPA. IF YOU ARE WILLING TO WORK AS HARD IN NAIJA, YOU WILL MAKE IT HERE AS WELL. THE MAJOR CONSOLATION FOR DOING HARD MENIAL JOBS ABROAD IS THAT THERE IS SOME DIGNITY OF LABOUR THERE, PLUS WHEN YOU CONVERT THE MONEY TO NAIRA, YOU FEEL A SENSE OF CONSOLATION. MOST TIMES, AWON ABROAD PEOPLE DO NOT TELL THE WHOLE TRUTH ABOUT THEIR SITUATION AND I THINK IT IS REALLY BAD OF THEM. ABROAD IS FOR YOU IF 1. YOU HAVE NOTHING IN NAIJA 2. YOU ARE SINGLE 3. YOU ARE BELOW 30YRS SELAH lordally: |
YOU MUST HAVE BEEN LIVING IN THE GHETTOIN NIGERIA SO ANYWHERE ABROAD IS OK FOR YOU. THERE ARE LOTS OF PEOPLE AND KIDS IN NIGERIA TODAY THAT DO NOT KNOW ABOUT OR EVEN ENCOUNTER ALL YOU HAVE SAID IN THEIR DAILY LIVES. ABROAD IS NOT HEAVEN...BUT IF YOU ARE DISADVANTAGED IN NIGERIA, IT IS A LOT BETTER. THERE IS ACCESS TO GOOD HOSPITALS, SCHOOLS ETC IN NIGERIA AS WELL, NA MONEY KILL AM. ABROAD IS BEST WHEN YOU ARE SINGLE AND BELOW 30YRS SO YOU CAN SUFFER BEFORE YOU CAN ENJOY LATER. ANOTHER THING IN THE ABROAD IS RACISM...EXPECT TO GROW A THICK SKIN WHEN YOUR KIDS ARE DISCRIMINATED AT...IT WOULD SURELY HAPPEN. AND ALSO, BRACE YOURSELF TO LET DEM KIDS UNDERSTAND WHY YOU TOOK THEM AWAY FROM THE COMFORT OF NIGERIA, TO THIS NEW HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT. MALIGNANTGuest: |
Your stupidity is matchless. For your information, which North are you referring to that produces the food? When it suits you, central states that actually produce the food like Plateau and Benue are called North, but when it comes to power, your braindead keeps it strictly muslim core north. I have said it many times, Nairaland should have age brackets for discuss; I cannot continue to be in the same platform as childish youths without any idea of what life is; especially those who for a mere 10k will come online to support unjust government policies and party narratives. What is wrong with exercising your rights? so regulator has become God that cannot be sued? This is the attitude that has kept Naija where it is. As a born again Christian who is meant to speak the truth at all times, I'm ashamed of the level of hypocrisy displayed by we southerners especially we Christians in this incessant calls for Pantami's resignation. What has pantami done wrong for God's sake? How many of us don't have some misdeeds in the past? Why can't we practice the teachings of our lord Jesus christ who admonished us to love our neighbors as ourselves? When Nnamdi Kanu formed IPOB that later metamorphosed into a terrorist group we southerners were supporting him. Kanu was tried and convicted and became a fugitive yet we kept supporting him. Pantami has never been convicted nor tried in any court yet we are calling for his head. Are we not meant to be our brothers keeper? What proof do we Christians have to call him an extremist just because he mandated us to register for NIN. Why this sudden media trial and blackmail? Why can't we emulate northerners who always stand by themselves no matter what? Are we not ashamed that our country's name is been dragged in the mud by this baseless accusations? Pantami is going no where. We have terrible people amongst we Christians too but we shield them rather than call them out. Sometimes I'm ashamed to be a Christian. Honestly
