30k is nothing during the yuletide..... You won't even get the much overlooked corolla.
Out of curiosity, does the driver's weekly remittance increase during this period?

Compliments of the season everyone!
Is there any car owner here who is interested in letting his car out ( any decent car apart from a Corolla) for a week. Willing to pay the normal e-hailing delivery of N25k + 5k. That's 30k. Just want to move around with it this yuletide. I am willing to subject myself to any risk mitigating process. Also willing to pay 25k upfront and the 5k on delivery after a week. Please kindly contact on terrence15115@gmail.com if this interests you. I live around Ikeja and in a gated estate. Thanks

guzenaira:
I follow this tread because I wanted to invest in the business but then I can see over time that it’s going down or let me say it doesn’t work on rentals.

Hire purchase is the real deal for investors but let me address why I came up to talk.

In US and Canada, you can’t see drivers on rentals. It’s either they totally own the car or currently paying it off in a more convenient way.

Will you tell a guy on rentals to go on strike? Or a guy on hire purchase in a country where the owner of the car doesn’t even want the guy on hire purchase to see out his contract.

That's why i said i has to be a concerted effort between car owners and the drivers. At the end of the day, both will be happy.

Also this issue of pray for your own breakthrough and move on is what's killing this country. No selflessness. Until people see the need to fight for the greater good we have no right to be criticizing our leaders because we are then all the same

If all car owners on ehailing go on strike, a guy on rentals will see it as an opportunity to make more money.

Association cannot be formed because nobody will back such in Nigeria.

In as much as the leaders of Nigeria can’t do something about the future of youth as regards unemployment, so many foreign companies will come and take advantage of the situation of the country.

My brother, forget strike and union. Just pray to God for breakthrough in all areas of life and move on for good.

It's another wonderful week.

Any driver that is not paying his rental or keep giving excuses is either greedy or lazy.

They keep saying no money in Uber, but every week you go home with 20k after your rental fee.
Youre probably the only son of jesus on this platform and the most hardworking guy. However some of us have been here long enough to witness this kind of amplified belief in the system. I can only wish you best of luck

Lolz. All these questions unto what na?

I never said low fares is good. I only said thats the Coy obj. And equally never mentioned drivers making noice. What's the point of complaining what you can't change. You cant compare personal car rarely used to business car maintenance requirement will defer greatly.
Uber fares elsewhere are not as ridiculous as it is here. They are just exploiting the peculiarity of the market. But that's another topic. The point i was trying to make it IT CAN BE CHANGED. Partners and Drivers just need to speak with one voice for a week. No need for unionism. Just don't drive for a week and see if they won't move grounds. The lads on this platform is enough.

You guys need to understand a company's objectives before criticizing them E-hailing is aimed at providing the most convenient ride at the cheapest price. The business model.

Im not a driver,, but a frequent rider. Im just fascinated at the discussion on here.
Exactly, you are talking from a rider's viewpoint. I am talking from both.

E hailing companies will not adjust unless the drivers and partners come together with a common voice.

Then again most drivers get carried away with 10-18k daily earnings so we feel its all good.
At what cost do you even make the 10-18k? At the end of the day, you'll find out it aint worth it
BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Terrence15115: 10:41am On May 12, 2019
I've driven on both platforms and i can say without prejudice that its really not worth it, especially if you do not own your car. Like most employers here, Uber and Bolt are taking serious advantage of the high unemployment rate in Nigeria. Things they cant get away with in other countries, they do here. There are so many challenges a driver faces that is not commensurate with the revenue at the end of the day. And like our country Nigeria, young people cannot come together to speak with one voice to end the injustice and unfair play. It is quite ridiculous that you will drive to pick a rider at home, wait and drive him/her to his/her destination in an airconditioned vehicle and still charge same or less what a yellow cab will. I can assure you, if all the drivers on this platform, down tools for a week, they will adjust. Its so simple, THEY CANNOT make money without the drivers. It is a little sacrifice that will reduce all the complaints made here. It is not too much to ask for. Ehailing is not for everyone, it should be a premium service and it is up to the them to introduce variants of it, if they so wish. It can be done

BillGoldberg:
Something just happened now and am in civia pains again.

I took this barney from Lekki to somewhere in Ikeja. All throughout the journey, I couldn't concentrate because this girls shape, perfume and gait was killing me. Just look at the backside in the picture! Whooooooo......

This girl was so soft looking. She has this thing about her that says... Please Fvck me badly... I need you inside me. She was also very soft spoken and applied wet lips.

I wanted to bite her lips as she spoke. I just wanted to rush in without warning and start kissing her. But as usual, I remembered that Uber has my details and maintained my cool.

At a time, something was telling me to change destination to Lekki conservation forest where I will be alone with her and watch animals. Maybe... Something happens from there.

We continued the journey. As we got close to her street, I couldn't control myself again and I decided to shoot my shot. I told her boldly that I liked her and would love to marry her. I asked for her number and The girl said am a crazy man and rebuffed me.

Las Las, she told me to end the trip that she will trek the rest. She also said she will report me to Uber. That am sexually harrassing her and highly unprofessional.

I decided to snap this picture as she was leaving for evidence and future uses. Evidence incase Uber asks me why I decided to toast her. I will simply forward this pic to the Uber manager and ask him... If its him, won't he try his luck... Am serious. See shape... See height... See Waist... See Colour.. Abeg... This girl set Jare. I will even insist she dressed seductively and Uber has a strong policy against seducing drivers.

Again, am also keeping this picture for future uses when am Alone.

Brothers, was I wrong in shooting my shot?

This Gazzuzz vs some guys imbroglio is another pointer that one CANNOT please everyone. I have met him just once and I felt he was a bit arrogant initially. With the benefit of hindsight and a little objectivity I thought he was just being confident.
He has been on nairaland for a long time and while some people have their reservations about him, MOST people have said good things about him.
This is a man who has married his skill with a platform he felt useful and made a name for himself. He will probably even outlive the platform.
One thing I also don't understand is why people complain about how his services are expensive. We all have the right to make a choice. If you cannot afford a service or product, there are a million other options. To come here and say he tried to rip you off is totally wrong. I feel he's even being patient explaining. In sure he pays rent, has overheads, pays staff and more importantly, he has not forced you to accept his offer.
Not every dealing need be for public consumption.
Let this thread be relevant for its purpose.

Peace to everyone.

With all due respect, if this is how the convo went, it's all shades of wrong. The customer is always a customer and he could have been better managed without literally shutting him down. My opinion.
styveke:
Talking about riders with bad attitude...

Some weeks back, I picked a rider from ICM going to Dolphin Estate. I was listening and humming to one of my best tracks of Lucky Dube when the guy broke the silence with, "Do you know Morgan Freeman?"

Me: Yes I do
Rider: I saw a picture of him with earrings

I was like, so?

"Why should he?" Was his response...
Me: He's a movie star and its allowed for him to look the way he likes, what if they ain't earrings but just studs for the photoshoot?
Rider: Why?
I just ignored the question and faced my front...
After about 5mins,
Rider: What song are you listening to?
Me: Lucky Dube
Rider: Who is he?
Me: You don't know Lucky Dube?
Rider: I don't know him.
Me: Well, I can't help U here.
Rider: Tell me about him
Me: Sorry not today.
Rider: This is what I hate about Nigerians, you can't engage them in a simple conversation without them being and acting stupid. Damn.
Me: Nigerians?
Rider: Yes!
Rider: It's rude and I can report you for not responding to my conversation.
Me: (already pissed but try hard to suppress it) Guy, I decide which question(s) deserves a response.
So for you info, I don't respond to stupid conversations...
Rider: You are a fool!
We were getting close to his destination, so I just ignored him till we got there, I ended the trip and he said he wants to transfer, and I said ohk but you have to sit here till I get my alert o...he said OK.

While we were waiting for alert, I turned to him and said...I am sorry for you...look at U, bitterness written all over your miserable face...so please, get your miserable self out of my car and go drown in your misery somewhere else.
Rider: Idiot! What if I don't?
Me: I'll take you to the nearest police station and I'll make sure you pay me for time wasted.
He just hissed and got out reluctantly...
I reported him and gave him 1star.
I'm still waiting for taxify to call me and tell me rubbish...maybe nah dis one I go take leave their yeye platform.
Nndi Ara!

Uber/Taxify drivers in Nigeria don't speak with one voice whenever issues like this arises. Drivers needs to form a Trade union registered with Government inorder to protect their interest. Then collective bargaining should be adopted instead of strike. It remains the most effective way of settling dispute and grievances, it is a process of negotiation between employers and a group of employees aimed at agreements to regulate working salaries, working conditions, benefits, and other aspects of workers' compensation and rights for workers. The reason why ehailing companies keep taking decision Solely without consulting driver partners is because they don't have a Union. I know forming a union has its disadvantages, but it's best way to handle the situation on ground
Very well said, bro. This is another angle that can be exploited but at least a warning strike will resonate drivers grievance. Maybe there should be a team constituted from on here to engage with them going forward, not necessarily drivers but partners who have put their money down too.

You guys think Strike is the best way to go here in Nigeria. I just dey laugh. India and Nigeria is a different terrain. What worked in India might not work here. Did U all remembered what happened when Uber reduced their fare by 40% last year April. Drivers went on strike and protested. but nothing was done about it till date. Drivers went back to work. Uber became more resolute and adamant and stocked to their new prices. Am not in support of fare reduction or other grievances drivers may have with Uber/Taxify. But I think there are better and reasonable ways this can be handled
Kindly proffer one, Bro

By and large. Disgruntled drivers should park their cars and we that want to drive will have more to do.
I think the most varying species of humans are in Nigeria and it is the reason we are where we are. Anyone who is against this action is the one that is disgruntled. I can't fathom why some people feel they are better than others. Clearly majority of stakeholders are for this action, so be it.
Prior to the advent of ehailing, yellow cabs charged ridiculous prices and instead of the coys to fix prices around that bracket they decided to water it down so much so that some riders are always surprised with fares.
Any one that is OK with the current dispensation is not OK at all. You don't have to drive yourself to extinction before you break even. There should be some form of compensation for driving on terrible roads or sitting in terrible terrific. Beyond this platform, young people need to speak with ONE voice to take this country back.

Don't just open your mouth and talk, if your wife reports such sensitive matter to you, you don't laugh it off, you take it up and do something. From your comment I can deduce you're not married, when you finally marry your match and partner, you can keep laughing it off when guys start harassing her outside until she's raped, well you can laugh that off too. Shit happens anyways right? No shaking
He obviously ain't married, but that's not an excuse to have empathy. Bro, lagostaxiappguy, you don't bring such matters here not until you've properly dealt with the guy for his unprofessionalism and uncouth attitude. If any man bleeps with your wife, Bleep him up, except your wife gives you some reason not to. It's an unwritten rule. Don't be a sisi with sentiments that they'd take the job from him. If he needed the job, he won't be flirting, at least not with a married woman. Common!

This is so not true.immediately a driver cancels even after accepting it automatically goes to the next driver except there is none in the vicinity.
Once a rider makes a request it goes to the nearest driver who if he doesn't accept goes to the next rider. There are other instances that Uber will intentionally give a card trip not to the nearest driver but another one who's done plenty cash trips so they can recoup their money easily. Once the driver picks it, he is paired with the rider. If he cancels it then, the rider will have to make another request, obviously to another driver. I don't think it's automatic

He didn't respond and the next thing he asked where are you naa? I just end the call, how can someone be that rude?
He called back, I greeted him again he asked the same where are you naa? Without even responding to the greeting.
I decided to catch small fun, I now replied.
Oga I am here he said where?
In my car at legend bar road, do you want to come?
He now said please come to Doreen wellness center, I said okay that's better than asking me where I am and u won't help me with directions after.
Done with the trip still expecting my one star.
cheesy
People are so uncouth really. A simple way you can identify a decent, proper polished person is how they address you when they ring you. How can someone just pick up the phone and say where are you? I simply ask them who am I speaking with? Some apologise and say sorry I ordered for your services, others just bark out are you not uber to which I just mute the call or educate the customer about introduction on a phone call.
