Gospel of Mathew wasn't the same Disciple of Jesus. As a matter of fact, none of the Gospels in the New testament was written by Jesus disciples.
Gospel of Mathew was written by an anonymous person who wasn't even an eye witness. Or, how else can you describe a situation where some of the source of Mathew were from Mark who also wasn't a disciple of Jesus.

The same thing also apply to Luke. The New Testament was compiled 150 years after the so called death of Jesus.
