Family › Re: How Do You Control A Rebellious Teenager? by tevinsolt: 12:29pm On Aug 06, 2015 |
xynerise: Going through the developmental stages in life, some teens tend to take a wrong detour in life. Many teens are becoming rebellious to their parents and causing disunity in the family. Setting their own rules in the house and disrespecting anybody who tries to stop them from doing what they wish to do.
"Spare the rod and spoil the child". Does this also applies to teenagers? I guess not. What other psychological ways can we correct this rebellion? In the US, Parents let them loose, to face the real world. they have to get a job and pay their own bills. "my roof, my rules" is a well known saying. some do eventually grow up, others end up a hot mess, but is it the parent's fault? |

this is not just the leadership, it is the culture that has persisted down to to us from our ancestors, even though there was some civilizations in the past but can't be compared to what we read about in Europe. The tradition of town planning modernly known as urban planning, landscaping were concepts unknown to our forefathers and it is that same culture that has dwelled with us for so long that today in Nigeria people still do not care about their surrounding for the most part, there's dirt everywhere, landfills on the street, bad maintenance culture, below average Architectures and architectural innovations. this castle is 945 years old approximately, many of us in fact all of us can't trace our geneology that far back, there are cathedrals 12 stories tall built a 1000 years ago. so when i see Nigerians marvel at mediocrity I smh. Is there any royal palace built in the last 50 years that match this over 900 year old castle? We can do it, we just have to renew our minds and consider the little things we don't normally care bout. https://www.premiumtours.co.uk/images/product/original/51_2.jpghttps://cdn.londonandpartners.com/asset/d6dd6f4b18d3c30154258158fd6f91a1.jpghttps://www.angeltours.co.uk/assets/tours_images/windsor_castle_long_walk7.jpg |

afroniger: Much of organized religion is based on brainwashing techniques that robs and inhibits the individual from maximizing his potential and developing his reasoning faculty. This explains why many religious people would rather "fast and pray" for success and "breakthrough" rather than undergoing self-improvement and working harder and smarter.
Organized religion preys on the average person's fear of the uncertainties of life -- it falsely promises a structured (though complex) explanation for human existence and purpose that defies reason and consequently imprisons the mind. your argument are not new, in fact I used to spill similar nonsense when I was searching for the truth, and it was as a result of my shallow understanding. based on my research and dive into knowledge I have come to the conclusion theism makes more sense to me than agnosticism and or atheism. The situation of Africa is a reflection of the culture and tradition that has passed down that also kept those who came before us grounded so to say, and for this reason more technologically advanced religious Europeans were able to conquer them. |

naija8080: Very st$upid thing. Typical Yoruba M.O...you tell him something going wrong in his community, instead of him to address that, he will go and find something similar happening in yours even when the circumstances are not the same. Tell him that Osun has not paid salary in months, instead for him to raise awareness amongst its people to ensure the governor does something, no he wouldn't do that instead, he will go and sponsor an op-ed to write about other states not paying even when the circumstances surrounding payments are different...Osun is bankrupt , has been borrowing to pay salaries for yrs, and the Banks are saying....will not lend you more since you have nothing to back up the loans or way to repay back. Other states don't have this problem except Osun. Osun problem is different....it's bankrupt.
I chose to set the context above because circumstances can be different. Likewise, you went and dig up an old article of a man killed at THE WEE HOURS OF THE MORNING BY UNKNOWN ALLEGED FULANI MEN. Igbos are civilized people we will not hurt Hausas-Fulani who have nothing to do with this and certainly without evidence as it's alleged...UNKNOWN. Now to the yoruba slaughtered, HE WAS MURDERED IN BROAD DAY LIGHT RIGHT ON HIS PROPERTY. The neigbors say it happen; saw people that did it but didn't do nothing. With Enugu situation, nobody saw it happen. That's why I used BRAZENLY. No hausa/Fulani can brazenly kill an Igbo man and go free. Igbos don't roll like that.
Don't derail this thread. We shall focus on the subject...Hausa-Fulani murdered a yoruba man right on his property, in broad daylight with yoruba men around. Unique Coward. why do you feel the need to tell them the news when they can read? if not that you can't help yourself being a gloating piece of sh!t |

I've never had trouble with Igbos, In fact while growing up in Ilorin as Yoruba boy, I knew Igbos I called good friends, I mean our Neighbors (Igbos) always left their kids at our house to babysit while they were at work. My dad worked for NEPA, and he was a trader at a Market close by, so they sort of knew each other, and even for a while we tapped to their dstv cable for a while before we moved to our own home. The first time I had a problem with an Igbo person was in Lagos when I came on a summer break, the kid probably was my age then was mean, and the mom said, in her words "I couldn't follow her son to play" lmaoo ignoring the bad english. the kid pressed my button, I beat the hell out of him, while i was unaware he pushed me in that smelly lagos gutter brah! God saved him my older cousin came to stop the fight, I would have fed him that gutter water. I don't how a little kid was fed so much hate by his mom and possibly his dad too. Funny thing is he came around before I left Lagos. |

Lordave: So we shouldn't go to obodo ndi ocha because things are expensive there?
Rubbish! We will go there, make money, buy those things in Nigeria and bring it over to the Obodo ndiocha.
Oh, I forgot! We will buy up their lands and make them tenants! lmaoo how about buying the whole of America? the average house located in a not so expensive state when converted to Naira is around 50,000,000...for this amount you would get yourself a nice structure in Nigeria. people rarely build new houses from ground up, only the super rich could afford to, the cost of buying a land will first run you down, to add property tax, insurance, and utilities. you go fear! |

The problem with many Nigerians is that they can't separate their beliefs from the Constitution. True believers understand there's no imposition in Christianity. If God has given us all, and individually free will why impose your perspective of life on another. That's a trait of a tyrant. Isis trive on this ideology....If u feel this way check urself There are benefits that comes with being married in the US, and if the American declaration of Independence says all men are equal regardless of who or what they are, it is only right. Also America has a separation of Church and State. |
