Christianity Etc › Re: Recording Of TB Joshua Talking To Journalists (Audio) by texazzpete(m): 8:46pm On Sep 20, 2014
Billyonaire: I didnt hear Temitope telling journalists to lie on that audio. What are you people insinuating ?
do you need it explicitly spelled out for you?

And for a second I thought you'd given up defending the indefensible
Christianity Etc › Re: Recording Of TB Joshua Talking To Journalists (Audio) by texazzpete(m): 8:28pm On Sep 20, 2014
striktlymi: Probably you do not know. Ask anyone who is involved in mainstream journalism in Nigeria and they will tell you that it is 'standard practice' for organisations to offer 'outfield journalists' some form of stipend. It can be in cash or in 'kind'.

This has nothing to do with giving bribe as the journalists are at liberty to report whatever they witnessed on the scene. The stipend is largely given because a lot of these journalists are not members of staff of these media houses. Some work freelance and the pay they get from any job is hardly adequate for them.

As a gesture of good fate, those who request their presence, most often than not offer them something as a form of gratitude. Some journalists will even tell you to your face that they will refuse to come if they are not getting anything. Note that the money given is not meant to influence their opinion on any matter.

If you actually noticed, TB Joshua offered the money upfront without asking them to report what he wants. He went as far as asking them if they have gone to the site and that he does not want to interfere with the investigation.

That does not sound to me like someone who is trying to hide something or bribe anyone.
In other words, it is a bribe.
In any reputable organization, money given out in this magnitude will set off a whole lot of red flags. Money given out that is of a magnitude large enough to influence decisions and opinions is treated as a bribe...even if it's not overtly mentioned that it's a bribe.

If not illegal, it is 100% unethical to accept such large sums. That is why at this exact moment, members of the FIFA exco are being excoriated by the media for accepting watches of 16,000 pound value.

A pastor should not be found in this situation. And church money that could be better served paying for school fees of orphans should not be handed over as a 'goodwill'

Also YOU need an orientation change.

You cannot seem to comprehend that there are people out there that are different from you, that have different opinions and values and these differences should not be carelessly mocked.

I'm sure half of the people on that line cannot believe there are people in Nigeria that spend 3+ hours of a pleasant Sunday in church and hand over 10% of their salaries to their Pastors .

Politics › Re: FG Announces N213bn Intervention Funds For Electricity Companies by texazzpete(m): 1:02pm On Sep 20, 2014
EmoBoy: Nigerians will always criticise what they don't understand. There is something called credit enhancement in infrastructure finance. Most foreign investors won't invest in naija because of the risks involved. For example the market risk - The electricity tariffs were too low but the government increased them. Also, Nigerians don't like to pay for anything, so the government promised them they'll repay any shortfall in revenues as a result of the market risk. Its even better here because the money will be repaid to the govt by the companies after they start making a profit in the long run. So let's not criticize what we don't understand.
And slimy toadies like you will always support the wrong thing without questioning it. We had a tariff increase not too long ago supposedly to properly reflect current market realities. Now you're here insisting that another tariff increment without any substantial improvement is a good thing.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a Microsoft fanboy. But MS has shot themselves in the foot with their strategy.

In today's world, it's all about the ecosystem. Google has cemented theirs (and are hell bent on starving Windows Phone ), Apple has their own niche. MS just seems to lag behind with theirs.

Look at this period...Q4 2014. Apple obviously has the iPhone 6/6+ as their flagship. New Sony and Samsung heavyweights are coming for Android, and HTC has a press conference early October where they will announce some pretty rad new stuff.
Where's the corresponding Microsoft Windows Phone flagship? When last did WP have some sexy new feature that none of the others had done before?
Christianity Etc › Re: FG not doing enough to prevent anarchy -Catholic bishops by texazzpete(m): 11:32am On Sep 20, 2014
ayukdaboss: A rather long quote but I endeavoured to read it carefully. The reason why my comment was a confusing one was simply because:
1)I wasn't taking sides with either the clerics or the federal government
2)I was talking generally about Religious Leaders in the country especially those who stray away from their duties and speak evil about other Religions: example is the Redeem Pastor who's audio tape is all over Nigeria as I speak.

Although some of my post derailed a bit I was only trying to express what I felt about the current position of religious leaders in the country . Thank you Chief
OK, now I get you clearly. It did seem rather confusing since we were discussing the Catholic bishops and I saw you were including some other denominations.

Your response clarifies things and I agree with you 100%. The Church in Nigeria is also not pulling it's weight 100%, and there's far too much room given to intolerant Pastors to spread gospels of hatred.

Worst thing of all is that these things have a willing audience. I have not heard this tape, but I know just how popular tapes with gory and dark details are with people on the street. It's unfortunate

Mynd44: I hope this is not to spite CAN else it will be very sad and pointless
Why would a statement coming from an ANNUAL convention be ' to spite CAN'?

Where's your sense of empathy? You refuse to consider it may be an effort to actually help your fellow Nigerians who are SUFFERING in the North and jump to conclusions about it being all about CAN. Why?
Christianity Etc › Re: FG not doing enough to prevent anarchy -Catholic bishops by texazzpete(m): 8:31am On Sep 20, 2014
ayukdaboss: You all keep on encouraging hate among religions in Nigeria and sit down in AC Offices to construct long speeches because you and your household are far from where it's happening.
There is literally nothing in that speech that is geared towards 'encouraging hate'.

ayukdaboss: I know the Government is not trying their best but what have our Christian clerics and Jet Flying Pastors done to even encourage fellow Christians in the North where they even have legal branches.
I have to say, this is a rather inane comment. You AGREE that the FG isn't doing their best but are condemning the Catholic Bishops for saying the same thing? The 'not doing their best' comment you casually toss out is the difference between life and death for thousands of people.

As for your "what are they even doing", is it not clerics that remain in the North, preaching and evangelizing even in the face of persecution? Do you not read about Pastors being slaughtered monthly? Is that not 'encouragement' enough for you, that many clerics are in the North, leading by example?

ayukdaboss: Now see these ones trying to mock the Bling Bling Man/50 Cent wannabe in a coded way to score cheap Religious points.
The OP clearly states that this is an ANNUAL conference, and has nothing to do with whatever escapades Mr Oritsejafor is up to. Chibok Girls have not been rescued yet. Bama fell. Gwoza remains in Boko Haram hands. Scores have been killed in states that are supposedly under state of emergency. Is there not enough reason to demand more seriousness?

You sound really confused. You think the FG isn't doing the best they can, yet you're angrily tackling those who speak up about it. the same Catholic Bishops that are one of the loudest voices against corruption in Nigeria.

Those are called NFC Tags, not QR Codes. Microsoft Tag scans QR codes using the Camera.

You have a lot to learn...

QR Codes are meant to be read by imaging devices (cameras). NFC tags are a whole different thing entirely.
