all4naija: I only sorry for you because you didn't read your claim and link your posted then!

let me post it here for others to read it.

To correct you, I never said you say Apple is the lifeblood but I say what you are making it to look like, which is a different thing.

My claim: "Just on the RUMOUR that Apple was planning to take some business away from them, Samsung lost $10billion from their market value as their shares fell."

The Reuters link

(Reuters) - Shares in Samsung Electronics Co slumped more than 6 percent on Wednesday, wiping $10 billion off the electronics giant's market value, on a report that Apple placed huge chip orders with troubled Japanese chip rival Elpida.
What kind of garri school did you go that you cannot comprehend written English in the very first paragraph?

all4naija: Please, you too are very myopic. The consequence is going to have effect on both sides. $10 billion dollars immediate effect and forget the long term trouble for Apple. Japanese product comes at a high price thereby increasing Apple production cost and other things like difference in chip tech, etc.
Your unrepentant Ignorance will be your downfall. Apple's entire production is done in Foxconn, China. That has NOTHING to do with Samsung. Wetin concern 'japanese production' in all these?

all4naija: INDEED, THERE IS NO SINGLE EVIDENCE FROM YOUR LINK SOMETHING LIKE THAT HAPPENED!
If indeed you clicked that Reuters link I posted and you can still make that comment, I can only surmise that you have serious challenges with comprehending written English.

all4naija: Whatever that means to you Apple is not the lifeblood of Samsung and can never be as you are portraying it to look like in your over-exaggerated comment.
I said Samsung NEEDS Apple's business. I never said Apple's business is the 'lifeblood' of Samsung. The mere rumor of Apple ditching them shaved $10 billion of Samsung's market value. TheVerge reports that Samsung has come out to state that this court case will NEVER affect their component supply business with Apple.

To be fair, Apple also NEEDS Samsung's component supply...

Abrantie: Apple's patent is invalid. It shouldn't have been granted because it is prior art. How can a "rectangle with rounded corners" be patented? Grids of icons were on Palm and Windows Mobile phones prior to the iphone. Even LG Prada, which was launched months BEFORE the iphone, came with grids of icons and was a rectangle with rounded corners. Take a look at the above pic. One could easily replace the "Samsung" logo on that phone (which came before the iphone) with a bitten apple.

LG Prada
... Iphone 4 must have been inspired by LG Prada!

https://vandtelefon.com/pictures/2010/10/11/lg-prada_81232.jpg
Look, if you have difficulty understanding written English, I can send you a free copy of Queen Primer.

Is the LG Prada covered with Glass? Nope, it's got a plastic, resistive screen and the screen does NOT cover the bezel.
Does the LG prada's screen sit in a manner that the bezels on top and bottom are equal size? Nope
Are the icons on the LG prada phone rectangular with slightly rounded edges? Nope
Does the LG prada have a fixed dock of icons that remain the static as you scroll a grid of icons horizontally? Nope

You're a m0r0n.

Abrantie: Samsung did NOT copy Apple! Samsung came out with no fewer than 3 Touchscreen Candy Bar Smartphone models prior to the iPhone launch.

SGH-Z610 was introduced in January 2006. It was their first effort at producing an intuitive gesture based Touchscreen Multimedia Smartphone. It had a 3.5" screen, rounded corners, horizontal speaker above the screen, and listen to this.... a single ROUND PHYSICAL BUTTON beneath the screen, flanked by two soft buttons. This was obviously preemptive and proves this button style front layout, if anything, belonged to Samsung.

It was white (like many phones were before it), had not one, but two cameras. One on the front for Video Chat that US carriers were not using. None the less, this phone passed through the American FCC doors in August, 2006 and went on sale in September. Though it did not sell well, because of expense, it was a true 3G phone (a year before, Samsung was just selling 2G phones).

It had a metal bezel around the outside edge of the phone and a 3MP camera on the back (a year before Apple released theirs) and both cameras could be used/send pics in emails and video chats of which Apple still refuses to pay Samsung for patents. The Round button which is now referred to as the Home button was had the symbol for a "Play" button used since the 80's on various devices, as is Apple's square symbol used for "Stop" function.

On the F700, they abandoned the round button style for the square or rectangular shape which is still used to this day. Everything Apple uses in their phone's exterior design today has some roots in Samsung's designs that came before the iPhone. So exactly who copied whom? Did Apple's Cart come before Samsung designed and built even the original processors? Or did Samsung not only help in designing and furnishing screens, processors, memory, etc to Apple on top of being the first to use a Single Round Physical Button on a Touchscreen Phone with Designs patents applied for a month before iPhone was even introduced?

Onlytruth: When it comes to anything education in Nigeria, I would trust Imo state first before any other state. This is one state where people actually think about education policies before they are implemented.
Igbo language needs a huge shot in the arm by governments of Igbo speaking states. Short of what Imo state government is doing here with its own schools, I don't see any other way out for Igbo language for the younger generation.
BTW if Igbo based outside Igboland feel sidelined by this, then tough luck! I would not like a situation whereby Igbo who are based outside Igboland hijack and shape the future of Ndigbo as a whole without local considerations -Ndigbo and our language. All politics is local. cool

If other states retaliate, then the SE states need to build MORE universities and institutions of higher learning, to accommodate Igbo who would need them.
We cannot shape our future only by looking around us or behind our backs!

Our language must survive for we to survive as Ndigbo.
You m0r0n! How would you like it if one day a Northern Governor woke up and demanded that all Igbos in the North convert to Islam 'to preserve their religion'?

There are Igbos all around Nigeria in loads of schools...and nobody has insisted that they learn the languages in that region.

If you want your language to survive, ask Igbo parents to teach their kids the language. You cannot outsource that responsibility to the State Government.

This is idiocy at its finest from Rochas...the man is fast turning into a buffoon.

tomakint: The numbers of innocent lives wasted by the barbaric regime of chameleonic Yakubu Gowon during the unfortunate genocide on easterners deserves absolute compensation! Unfortunately no one is looking at it from that angle; God is a God of justice! I strongly believe that all nations in this world are all in God’s plan and He alone can destroy one and raise up another. Yakubu Gowon took over an illegal government and because of oil (based on dictates from the demonic British warlords), he was pretending to keep Nigeria as one thereby wasting away more than 2 millions innocent and defenseless Igbo women and children. If Nigerians think the death of these ones means nothing then we all should think again. Look at the Igbos today, despite the fact that they were decimated in their populations, set back by almost half a century economically, traumatized emotionally, grounded locally still rose up on their feet and dust off these sentiments to give us; Dr Chu Okongwu, Dr (Mrs) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Dr Paul Ogwuma, Dr Charles Soludo, Mr Innocent Chukwuma, Kanu Nwankwo, Professor Achebe, Dr (Mrs) Obiageli Ezekwesili, Flora Nwakpa (first Nigerian female author), Chinyere Onyemachara (first Nigerian Woman Pilot), Ben Gbulie, Dr Phillip Emegwali, Dr Udo Udoma, Professor Humphrey Nwosu, Dr. Chuba Okadigbo, Dr (Mrs) Ndi Onyuike-Okereke, the list is endless! I stand to be corrected, no other tribes have given this country so much brains as the Igbos not even the Yorubas (check your records) in a modern Nigeria!

We (those who fought against the just cause of the Igbos) as a people cannot pretend that we have not cheated our Igbo brothers and sisters! Ojukwu is dead, but without any iota of doubt his legacy lives on and you know a hero when he is buried (reflect on that about Dim Ojukwu, and you’ll know what I am talking about)! Biafra is still kicking and alive, the pains and agonies they were unnecessarily subjected to is still with them today and tomorrow. The Pretender in Command, Yakubu Gowon is alive and seems to claim Ojukwu was the villain has yet to bury his ego and apologize to the Biafrans, fortunately we all will die one day and when that day comes, all what is in the secret will be revealed for all to see! After Awolowo (a sage and indeed a great man) Ojukwu comes next in Nigerians that I know that were immortalized in death! Nigeria is indeed filled with pretending, hypocritical leaders that offers sanctimonious services just to cover ups their shady pasts!

Truly, Biafrans deserve our sympathies and a duly work out REPARATION!

Holumighty: For iProne fans, I have a GOOD NEWS for all of you (read carefully):
These are the most undeniable innovations invented by Apple for
their fabulous product namely iProne:
1. Screen (retina display) supplied by Samsung
2. Battery (1432 mAh), made by Samsung
3. Camera (8MP w. CMOS sensor), made by Sony
4. Overall design & arrangement (form factor and curved corner),
inspired by Sony's Walkman (You're a thief!)
5. Mass production (fabrication) is conducted by a Taiwanese giant
named Foxxconn.
Yes, Apple is the largest revenue corporation in the planet supported
with HUGE inventions. Thanks God, now ev'body could see what
Apple should do.
The iPhone screen is made by LG. The Battery does not come from Samsung. You see how brainless you are?

Everything in the iPhone is DESIGNED by Apple in Cupertino. That's where the innovation is, not in Samsung where the Korean giants make and supply parts on order to Apple's specifications and definitely not at Foxconn where the housing is put together and the phone assembled.

You people need to give it a rest. Samsung DID rip off Apple for the Galaxy S in 2010...and it was done deliberately.

Do you think tech savvy individuals and geniuses haven't look into what the claims are? Please, spare me your comfort with Apple products. The company you claimed to be all hard working has been accused severally of copying all rather infringing on other companies patents.

I was once an Apple products fanatic but I came to realized it doesn't worth the effort and nothing has changed so much with it opposition to what open source stands for. They can never do it all alone, that's a fact. If innovation must strive better it has to come from ability to be genuinely patented on things which revolutionized, not curve edges or blahblahblah... Meanwhile, which if a poll is drawn on those claims 80% users would agree those are not the reason they like or use the products.

all4naija: I quite agree with you on the line in bold. But, do you think designs(like curve edges) rather than core parts which make the difference really worth the battle? Let's look at what the infringement is centered around. From the curve-edge shape to the image enhancement(zooming in and out) are not worth the disputes at all at this time, dude. Those things don't even seem innovations requiring patents(which I agree patent shouldn't be on mere common ideas but things which revolutionized the industry). I strongly believe patent should be given for inventions.

These accusations don't worth the sweat and they will destroy the industry for more subsequent claims that will follow with time to come. Not only that it will spurn innovations and lay claims to thing which are really not innovations along the line, due to these Apple iPhone claims.

I am waiting to hear something about the Tablet claims very soon! 90% of Tablets on the market look alike though.
Why the f**k are you people STILL spouting this m0r0nic nonsense about curved rectangles?

Apple's design patent defines a design which contains several features...one of which is the 'curved rectangle'. Who asked Samsung to not only make a phone with a rectangular shape with curved edges, but also to copy the chrome trim, app tray, 4 icon dock, single physical home button and the others with the Samsung Galaxy S?

Do you guys know how silly it sounds when you talk about 'stifling innovation'?

Go and take a look at WP7. See how innovative it is without its UI looking anything like iOS? Look at Youtube videos of RIM's upcoming BB10. See anything that resembles iOS? Even stock Android doesn't borrow heavily from iOS. Samsung DELIBERATELY crafted the Touchwiz skin on the SGS to look as close to iOS as possible.

Abeg let this be the last time you repeat that 'curved rectangle' line.

excondido: the US is only trying to protect its own in this case, as samsung is obviously making more sales on smartfones in the us market.
the samsung tablet was exonorated for infringement on patent because the the ipad is still shiping more device than the less fanciful tablet and that for them is a no qualms.
But that cannot be tolerated on samsung galaxy franchise that have toppled the iphone in terms of volume sales and since the highly anticipated iphone is devoid of any novel feature seemingly they try to give it a soft landing by hurting samsung.

this same lawsuit was dismissed in the Uk and other European market where the UK judge claimed the galaxy is not as 'smooth' as the iphone.
Apple makes FAR FAR FAR more money from smartphone sales than Samsung does. Their share of the smartphone profits outstrips all Android manufacturers combined by at least a factor of 2.

Unless you can see the future, I wonder how you know the upcoming iPhone is devoid of any novel features?

There are other ways to innovate and succeed.

The Touchwiz UI that the Galaxy S used was a straight up clone/copy of the iOS UI

Why would you expect a budget phone to have NFC or DLNA?

More importantly, given the fact that battery life is always a concern with Dual-SIM phones, why would you imagine they'd put an LTE radio in there? How many of their Asia/Africa target markets have LTE 4G networks?

lastpage: Apart from the "Dual SIM ability", this is a very LOW END version (and l mean very very washed/watered down version) of the Galaxy S3.
If your priority is ability to "dual sim", then good but there are other phones that can do that as well.

But we should never compare S3 to this Duo.
How can l for example, step-down from using 8-MP pictures to 5-MP?
How can l step down from recording video in "High Definition" (l have abandoned my Lumix camera for some time o!) to recording in VGA?
I wonder why they are scaling the "camera" of Samsung phones down? The S2 has 12Mp camera and when l use it, the pictures are so good you wont ever need a camera at any function you attend.

I think its like when Nokia made the "Lumnia" for "poor people"! grin grin
It is affordable but shyte all the way!......compared to the other high end Nokia phones.
In terms of storage S3 doubles the storage of the Duo. In terms of RAM, S3 has 1GB while this one has three-quarters. These become important when you run applications and games.....and the Duo starts crying "no more memory to run this application" grin while the S3 is still flying (like our old Win 98 Vs. Win7 Computers grin)

Processor in the Duo is also "lower" (1GHz) which means it will be sluggish, compared to the S3 (1.4GHz).
Small but very crucial things like "natural language voice command, Eye tracking, Drop Box for saving your files online, Google maps are lacking in the Duo.

Battery life is lower in the Duo which means you got to recharge more often.
Serious;y speaking, l thinking some "Daddies" just went to lobby Samsung to do a version for Nigerians (Dual Sim) or their kids in college grin grin

Just my ten cents sha.

Lastpage
The shameful thing about Nigerians...some of the more verbose folks are the most ignorant.

Even a child should know that in western countries, most people pick up phones on contract along with carrier data plans...hence most people have only ONE SIM and ONE carrier.

Dual SIM phones are mainly popular in Asia, Africa and a few South American networks where prepaid lines off contract are by far the most preferred option.

There are competent Android phones with Dual SIM that you can pick up for even cheaper prices...so why would any company load up a phone meant for a particular demographic (folks with low disposable income) with class leading specs?

Why would you expect a phone Samsung expects to sell millions off in India, China and parts of Africa to be loaded with specs that could push the price closer to a $600 Galaxy S III?

This is not a very well thought out or intelligent post.

lastpage: Small but very crucial things like "natural language voice command, Eye tracking, Drop Box for saving your files online, Google maps are lacking in the Duo
'Eye tracking' and 'natural language voice command' are gimmicks and are hardly 'very crucial things' like you babble about. Not once has the 'eye tracking' feature worked with me (perhaps tiny eyes and glasses have something to do with this) and it's not a killer app feature anyway. S-Voice doesn't really do much more than what many 3rd party solutions on the Google Play store comes with. First thing i did after getting my S3 was to disable S-Voice

Google apps come pre-installed on the Galaxy S Duos. Just because GSMarena omitted this in their listing doesn't mean you should use your eyes and see the Google Play logo on the phone's screenshot...which should be a dead giveaway that ALL Google apps (Maps, mail, Play, Youtube) are on the device.

DropBox can be downloaded from Google Play in 30 seconds.
