PapaBrowne: ONE BIG QUESTION FOR THESE TWO GUYS:When Bakare was leading massive crowds to protest against the fuel subsidy removal which threatened to impoverish tens of millions of Nigerians, what were you doing? Hiding away in a cowardly manner and joining your myopic cohorts in lauding the move as one that would finally bring development to Nigeria? Time has proven Bakare right...the FG has FAILED woefully to show any meaningful impact from the monies saved by the partial removal of the subsidy. You folks were perfectly happy to stand by Bakare when he led protests demanding the immediate swearing in of GEJ to replace a comatose and brain dead Yar'Adua. Now he's doing what any sensible person would do - turning against an ineffectual, corrupt and careless Government - he's now the devil incarnate. |
Beaf: "I wish to advice that if Pastor Bakare will be fair, he should come out properly to the political Arena and stop using God's Pulpit to throw stones at Gods elect, as no leader will emerge in any praying nation like Nigeria without the blessing of God", Okupe saidSo Abacha, IBB, Uduaghan, Ibori, Odili, Lucky Igbinedion (Curses be Upon Him!) et al are 'leaders that emerged from the blessings of God' abi? No wonder many people are becoming atheists these days. |
This man is speaking for millions of you speechless Nigerians. I dare IBB to accept the challenge.
Abeg Edwin Clark should not speak for me...or any other reasonable Nigerian. I cannot recall him coming out to condemn MEND vociferously. |
Lordave: For those of you that always post 'God help us, I'm sure you have known how God helped the evangelist'. God helps those that help themselves. RIP sir. But you should have vacated that hell fire called MaidugriHe was an Evangelist...and a missionary. Was he supposed to sit down in a prosperous area of Lagos and focus on milking the gullible rich and poor like most of our pastors do these days? You people read Bible stories of Jeremiah et al confronting kings and condemning their actions...then you come here and mouth such silly stuff. |
Claumy2: Ok. Now. But would that help to reduce or stop BH from bombingSadly, it also wasn't enough to stop your parents from giving birth to a grade-A m0r0n. |
My post was not directed at you specifically, that you chose to respond was your prerogative. Now please let others respond since you've made your opinion known. Thank you.
Your post 'was not directed at me' yet you quoted my post while asking that question?! You really need to try harder. |
aze: Mobile Technology Graveyard Paradise a.k.a NOKIAis that why the Nokia pureview 808 won 'best in Show' and 'best new device' at the Mobile World Congress 2012? |
What about the Lumia is so fantastic as compared to the SGS3? And don't tell me fanboys don't like the SGS3, that is not the question.
Read the previous posts I've made in this topic. I will not pander to your laziness. |
Maleeq: Number of processors don't necessarily mean better performance. For if the applications you run on it aren't written to utilize these processors, no significant difference between 2 or 4 cores. Its like "giving my grandma a F1-racing car"...she'd never exceed 20mp/hSamsung's display division is an entirely different division from the mobile devices branch. If Samsung wants to stay as profitable as they are, they will continue to do all they can to grab the display contracts. PS: The iPhone Retina display comes from LG, not Samsung. Samsung makes the Retina iPad display for Apple. |
4llerbuntu: yeah.. i thot of that too. was just not sure if the sixaxis app will work, and i dont own a PS anymore. kinda weird to go buy a ps pad without owning a game.Piracy harms consumers! Buy one game every 2 months at max 6k. Trade games with folks in lagos. If you buy FIFA for the Vita, you should be able to get months of playtime with it. |
About the design of the 2 phones, I may prefer the Galaxy but I honestly can't see what the Lumia has that I can say beats the Galaxy.
Er...do you use prescription glasses? Not even the head of design at Samsung will claim the GS3 looks as good as the HTC One X...and the One x is nearly as good looking as the Lumia 900/Lumia 800/Nokia N9 family...but not quite. There's a reason why half the comments at Engadget at the Galaxy S III conference were of fanboys complaining bitterly about the pedestrian design. |
4llerbuntu: perhaps you want to change it to 4S. cos truthfully, the 4 was a POS!!!! there i said it, oya disprove me!iPhone 4 a POS?! Now you're just trolling. On release the iPhone 4 was the best looking phone in the world, it was the thinnest smartphone out there and had a very good camera...only second to the Nokia N8 in imaging capabilities. At that time, iOS had way more apps than Android and the Android market was still left picking up crumbs from the iOS table. Don't forget the 'Retina Display' which brought screen pixel density as a benchmark to the mainstream. There WERE the 'antennagate' cases where you could attenuate the signal in some cases by gripping specific points on the phone...but it's not like the Galaxy S was perfect too (with its godawful GPS issues). I think the iphone 4 was the high water mark for the iPhone...at least compared to Apple's weak effort with the 4S. Hey, 4llerbuntu, weren't you rocking an ancient Nokia N900 at that time? You know, ancient hardware, resistive screen, paltry apps? ![]() |
sniperwolf: iPhone is suffering from Pancreatic cancerSuch wise words /sarcasm Perhaps you can explain why the iPhone still grabs the lions share of smartphone profits? |
v3: @TexasI got a Tab 2 10.1 from Affordables for 82k recently |
walcolm: if you want to have other features beyond gaming, psp vita is the device for you.Get a galaxy SIII, use the Sixaxis app to pair a PS3 controller to the device. You're done! |
walcolm: DEFINITELY Jelly bean will work on GS3 and it should start rolling out officially anytime soon. The Galaxy S 3 will not get an official Jellybean port for the next couple of months. Count it as a minor miracle if we see it this year. ICS ROMs for the S2 only just started rolling out Q2 2011. |
Lazy, lying scumbags. The combined loot from Ibori, odili, Igbinedion and their cohorts far surpasses N300bn. And that's just in the past few years...we haven't even talked about the Abacha and IBB era of wanton looting. We should be talking trillions of Naira. |
Ikengawo: watching Asari's speech. He appears to be a hideously unintelligent man. The Niger Delta is doomed, this is their character. They believe in the smallest common denominator vs. all. When they try to organize they soon start killing themselves based on whatever minute differences they find between themselves. They're also the most undisciplined and unambitious of all nigerian people. They are miles behind in education and social enlightenment and rape is incredibly rampant in their population. these people will make the noise they're known to make, they will soon after when the attention is on turn their guns against each other and sell out whatever cause they claim to be supporting. They are short sighted and very easily corrupted, completely incapable of leading or organizing let alone uniting. You even heard this lazy man..."we don't make bombs, we will buy them"..how much of an insult to your own people's laziness is this? You don't make bombs, and guess what, you don't make boats either, so what bomb are you buying and from who? through the port of Lagos? pathetic.Your own people are not exactly known for uniting for a common purpose/goal as far as Nigerian politics is concerned. They can also boast of the bitter infighting your mock here. |
Silvani: I totally agree with you, iPhone is fastly dying down since the launch of the GS3https://www.blogcdn.com/www.tuaw.com/media/2012/08/rjestimates-2.jpg Think again! |
4llerbuntu: which is what those knuckleheads at nokia should have done with meego instead of allowing microsoft moles to sell them out.You still cannot see the trees for the forest! https://www.blogcdn.com/www.tuaw.com/media/2012/08/rjestimates-2.jpg The Chart above shows the smartphone percentage share of mobile profits. And the iPhone is utterly dominating with 77%. The next big player is Samsung with 29%. All the other Android makers (HTC, LG, Sony, Sharp, Philips, Motorola) are either losing money or they are making do with a meager share of the profits. Going Android would have been the fastest path to the grave. Don't believe all the lying fanboys who babble about 'Nokia hardware paired with Android'. The HTC One X has nokia-esque hardware quality and certainly looks way better than the GS3. Guess which phone is selling poorly now? If Nokia had gone Android, there'd have been practically nothing to differentiate with. Any Nokia apps would have been ripped from ROMs by Xda-devs within days and 4llerbuntu would be posting articles about how to install Nokia Drive on Galaxy S II ![]() Android has not been the blessing for Sony, LG, HTC et al as you thought. PS: At least WP8 will bring much more apps for Nokia devices than meego would have. |
jedisco: Shiittt!!! Whats it between you and tex that you see his shadow in everyone?? Where did you and him start having this your issue. Moreover I ended my issue with you just before he reappeared. If you have issues with him, approach him and solve it like a man.You really have his measure. I keep telling this man that for every phone there are pros and cons. The one you choose to be 'better' is the one the pros outweigh the cons for you. Left to me, I'd choose the Galaxy S III just for its raw power (I think I know what to do with it) and the fact that it has loads more apps (so gives me a softer landing from iOS). But i'd be the last person to say the Lumia 900 is not a gorgeous, elegant phone. and for many people moving up from Symbian, it's fast, animates beautifully and the UI is perhaps the best out there. 4llerbuntu will only like a phone when he can spend his time editing all the *.ini and *.inf files in it. |
The OP is either a troll or a dunce. Or both. |
4llerbuntu: but @ tex, i do concede maps, BUT IT SEEMS YOU KEEP MISSING THE SWEEPING GENERAL TERMS BEING USED HERE BY THESE CATS!!!Flat rectangles can be beautiful. It's an elegant, minimalist design that's visually very beautiful. Every single review of the early WP7 harps on the beauty. have you used a WP device before? No matter your thoughts on the default beauty of Android OS, Touchwiz is one of the less beautiful skins out there. Looks ARE generally a subjective topic, but the Lumia 900 is nearly as beautiful as the N9 (one of the most beautiful phones ever made, perhaps the most beautiful) while the galaxy S 3's design has been criticized by even hardened Android fanboys. The HTC One X hands down destroys the Galaxy S III for looks...and it's not as good looking as the Lumia 900. As far as build quality is concerned, nobody has ever accused the 900's polycarbonate build of being 'cheap feeling', which is more than I can say of the GS III's plastic body. Honestly, i cringe everytime I have to remove the battery cover. |
4llerbuntu: Now, to the point about the 3310, why is it not valid? you do know there is some sort of OS on the 3310?Nice try but... 1) 2-8 second load time for 3310 apps were the norm back then. You no remember the Nokia progress bar? 2) Any gains on the 'User experience' front on the 3310 will be easily negated by the tiny screen. Also basic modern era phone functions like photo, video playback and music playback are absent. No functional HTML5 compliant web browser. It cannot get a high score on the UX front these days 3) The 3310 is no longer on sale ![]() For its time the 3310 offered world class user experience and better battery life and stability than those early Samsung color screen phones. So even way back then, there were many functional advantages the 3310 had over slightly more powerful rivals. Fun fact: Did you know the Super Nintendo was less powerful than the Sega Genesis? Guess which one more people loved? |
this 4llerbuntu nor dey hear word. This is what happens when someone spends too much time dwelling on granular details and fails to look at the big picture. I sincerely admire his passion and intelligence...and his willingness to enter the drudgery of digging deep in the guts of linux based OSes...but he can't seem to see the trees for the forest. Role reversals are funny things indeed. I remember when he was the chief proponent of the Nokia N900 here on Nairaland because it was an 'open' OS...even when it didn't have anywhere near the tech specs of its competitors. Fast forward to 2012 and here he is talking about tech specs and app ecosystems. Don't you just love the sweet smell of irony? ![]() That, for example, is why he's now asking us to tell him any way the Lumia 900 is functionally better than the Galaxy S3. Forgetting that 1) The Lumia 900 may have a smaller, lower res screen but it's much more readable under direct sunlight. I have a Galaxy S3 and at anything less than maximum brightness the screen is barely legible outside. 2) The Lumia 900 looks 1000x better than the Galaxy S III. Hands down, no contest. Anyone who argues otherwise should be shot for insanity. The build quality on the Lumia 900 is way better too. 3) Wp 7.5 on the Lumia 900 is still smoother than ICS on the S3...at least while whizzing through the UI. And WP7 DOES look more beautiful than Touchwiz... 4) offline Navigation. Nokia maps CANNOT BE TOUCHED by anything on the Galaxy S 3 (and definitely not on Android, period). Here's a review of Nokia Drive with comparisons with Google maps http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/01/nokia-drive-offline-navigation-review-taking-the-lumia-900-for/ . And that's even with the older version of Drive. So if using your phone as a personal Navigator is top on your lists of priorities, the GS3 doesn't measure up to the lumia 900. 4llerbuntu knows loads of tweaks and customizations for stuff he focuses on...but he is sadly ignorant of many matters that drives consumer purchase. That is why he will NEVER understand why iPhone have way higher satisfaction ratings than any other phone in the world...despite being a 'closed ecosystem' and a 'walled garden' as he describes it. He will not understand why the beautiful Nokia Lumia 900 has a higher average user reviews from actual users than the Galaxy S 3...reactions from people who actually use the damned thing not those who compare specs line-by-line on GSMArena. This is also why nearly a year after WP 7.5 Mango's release, he still trots out that woefully outdated list of things that the first iteration of WP7 could not do that have been fixed in Mango. Don't get me wrong. There are loads of areas where the Galaxy S 3 easily bests the Lumia 900. It's got way more apps, bigger, higher res screen, more accessories and way more raw power to run more demanding apps and games. But the world doesn't always revolve around those features and many of these can be overkill for many users...so to say (or even insinuate!) that the Lumia 900 is a 'bad buy' or a 'waste of money' (a thoroughly brainless assertion since the 900 is much cheaper than the GS3) musn't necessarily be true. |
Billyonaire: Freedom of Speech has its limitations. Internet needs censoring, China-style.Right after we adopt China-Style censoring of corruption. But we all know your PDP paymasters will never okay such bold moves, don't we? |
4llerbuntu: No they dont. they do a save state and exit. u go back to the cards, it starts the app, loads up its saved state and continues. there are countless articles on this shyte bruv. SO YES< GETTING APPS TO RUN IN THE BACKGROUND LIVE IS WHAT I MEAN, LIKE THE SKYPE EXAMPLE!!!!!!!!! how does this mango implementation differ from the one on the much maligned BB?You've come again with your revisionist arguments. First you say WP7.5 doesn't save states and doesn't resume from where you left it. Now you claim it saves states but needs to reload. Do you even know what the phrase 'Save states' means? Multitasking in WP7 may not be 'TRUE MULTITASKING' per se, but it's an implementation almost exactly the same as what is used in iOS. You can talk on and on about 'true multitasking' but the vast majority of consumers don't care about that. The iPhone sales prove that. Don't forget that Symbian and Windows Mobile had true multitasking way back when Android was still independent of Google. 4llerbuntu: and are you talking about mango, tango or apollo or whatever name is it your people call themI use the words 'Windows Phone 7.5'. Everyone should know that means Mango/Tango. 4llerbuntu: WP8 actually steps up to the plate, but then guess what! it is going to support more RAM and more CPU Configs!!! so much for the 512 mb argument. if it was so ok on 512, why would they be improving hardware specs. This is just as daft as claiming that if the Galaxy S2 was such a good phone, why did Samsung bother increasing the specs for the S3? 4llerbuntu: The GPU is the same with that in iphone yes i agree, IS IT BEING USED IN THE SAME WAY THE ONE IN IPHONE IS BEING USED? NO!!!I don't understand this. The GPU is being used for UI hardware acceleration and rendering complex 3D games, just like on the iPhone. A whole buttload of the top games on iOS and Android aren't available on WP7 but there are loads of graphically impressive 3D games. 4llerbuntu: These cats start a thread comparing these phones NOW, not what they MAY be capable of doing. then they tell usits better than SGS 3? WTF!!Well, it may be better for his needs. It's cheaper than the GS3, looks way better than the GS3, better sunlight readability, and frankly, the UI looks better than Touchwiz. Another massive pro for the Lumia 900 is its far better offline GPS navigation functionality. Nokia Drive pretty much wipes the floor with anything on Android. |
4llerbuntu: as for the RAM, the reason for the large sizes is that APPLICATIONS use the RAM. and the Bigger and More Intensive the app is, the More RAM it requires. its similar to the RAM on PC thingy. Photoshop, Video Editing, Autocad tools. 3D modelling tools require more than your average 2GB RAM on windows. funny enough linux runs on as little as 512MB. those apps are not available on it. That would not entitle me to claim that its better, even though pple often do.., like you are..... its FUDC'mon now, so even you are not immune to spreading FUD? Windows Phone 7.5 (which practically every Windows Phone device runs) has multitasking...implemented in pretty much the same was as Apple's iOS. The last 5 opened application support resume from a 'dehydrated' stage. Just press long on the Back button and it shows a card carousel of your last 5 opened applications. They'll resume from where you left them. For many consumers, that's a good enough implementation of multitasking. Sadly they havent been able to get many essential apps like Skype to run in the background. lame. WP7 apps will ALL work on WP8. Stop spreading misinformation na! You guys keep trotting the same WP7 'limitations' list that has been significantly whittled down in WP 7.5 Mango and tango updates. WP 7.8 will bring much more functionality too. There are large games on WP7.5. They run just fine on 512MB RAM. Last I checked, there's no game on Android that's a visually splendid as Infinity Blade 2...and it runs fine on a 512MB iPhone 4/4S. NOVA 3 runs very well on a 4S too... As i've said to someone else before, the Adreno GPU in the Lumia 900 is equal in performance to the GPU in the iPhone 4...and that runs Unreal Engine and Unity games pretty well. |
xtremeidea: The Biggest Problem i have with Nokia is that their Memory capacity is low compared to what Samsung is throwing to the market!it isn't exactly 'bad'...the iPhone 4S has just 512MB RAM and it runs even smoother than the GS III ![]() |
oluseg2: I can see that you are a Drunkard just like the man you are defending. What are the 'silly things' he's typing? Bible passages? Even if someone's drunk, does that make him a 'drunkard'? Do you know the difference between those two words? Later now some of you boneheads will be complaining that you have not found employment. Even if the man was a 'drunkard', is that enough for someone to post the photo on Nairaland for public ridicule? What happens when the photo moves around the internet and is being sent around to millions via Blackberry Message? Is the aim to destroy someone's life just because he made a mistake once? Do you clowns know what is going on in the man's life? Do you know if he meant to drink a little for courage and then overdid it? Do you know if he has some tragedies he's nursing...hence the decision to turn to drink? Do you know if he can be helped? No...you don't know if he can't be helped, do you, because contrary to all the nice bible passages you cr'etins read all the time, there's no ounce of love and compassion in your hearts. All you folks cared about was the urge to humiliate your fellow man, to turn up your nose and sneer at the boorish fellow. |
