Pukkah: The terrorists immediately opened fire on the JTF team...twenty of the people who opened fire died but one of the soldiers on whom fire was opened died. undecided

The claim of the JTF needs to be further investigated. I hope the pressure of rooting out Boko Haram did not lead them to attack innocent civilians.

The law enforcement agencies in Nigeria are known to do all sorts just to show they are working.
Leave the other posters to stew in their naivety. A group of 'terrorists' opened fire on you and caught you by surprise yet the force lost only one officer and killed 20?

The only theatre we see these kinds of Kill:Death ratio is when crazed islamist fighters assault a well armed NATO/US base in the middle east...and usually they call in artillery support and airstrikes. Here we have two nearly equally armed groups fighting on a flat terrain with not much element of surprise...what the heck do they think this is, Call of Duty?!

Pray tell me, apart from the Pureview camera, what other features?

You mean features like the low res 640 * 360 screen with a meager 184 dpi pixel density? Or the relatively puny 1.3 Ghz CPU and inferior GPU? is it in the apps selection where Symbian is woefully lacking?

Abeg tell me the wondrous 'features' o!

I find it puzzling that Nokia is selling this low end phone for 100 - 95k...and that normal people are buying at that price.

If i was in Lagos and i was too broke to buy a decent smartphone, i'd have queued for that phone at N41k, sold it to a mugu like yourself for 85k (discount cheesy) and then added 10k to the money and picked up a Galaxy S III. That's #Winning.

Not even a 41MP camera would make me use that phone.

You've got to be on cheap crack. Even the Google CEOs will admit that there are more high quality games available on iOS than on Android.

Usually the preferred platform for big name devs is iOS, then Android. For good reason too: the same app/game makes lots more money on iOS than on Android.

I almost didn't switch to the Galaxy SIII because of the lack of Street Fighter IV. Still no Soul Calibur on Android yet.

On the flip side, you can connect a PS3 controller to most high end Android phones...and emulators run better on top end Android phones.

Christianity Etc › Re: Re-must I Pay Tithe To Get To Heaven? by texazzpete(m): 8:35am On Aug 13, 2012
Am just me: Another way of asking ur question is, Can I rob GOD and go to heaven? Or can I be a thief and go to heaven? If u don't pay ur tithe d bible says u r robbing GOD and ur a thief. Just pay ur tithe to ur own church and let d Pastors do wot they would wit it, at least btw u n GOD, u don clear ur way.
The bible also says
1) any woman on her period is Unclean. Any one who she has contact with in that time (seven days) is also unclean. .
2) Don't round your hair at the temples or mar the edges of your beard. - Leviticus 19:27
3) The smell of a bull burnt at the sacrificial altar is pleasing to God - Leviticus 1:9

So why are you sheep not doing any of these?

Oh, wait. I know. The Pastors cant use any of these to milk money from you, can they?

Now, let me show you what Jesus said under the NEW COVENANT

“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

“They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

So explicitly Jesus is telling you in the new testament (NOT THE OLD!!) that what he delights in is when you give to the poor, visit the sick and show love to the common man out there. Did you see anywhere he mentioned giving 10% of your salary to him?

For all those who cling like sheep to the 'sow and you shall reap' mantra of our pastors these days, in the Parable of the Widow's Mite where the widow gave most of her possession as offering out of love, did it end with Jesus making her a multi-millionaire? No! Jesus told us she would reap her riches in Heaven! Your pastors now will start filling your heads with stories of bentleys and government contracts when you donate big money.

Chylo: Ladies and Gentlemen,

I have noticed something in all the responses here. People are just commenting on what they think or feel, but noone is talking about what the scriptures say. People get confused, even true believers, due to the way it has been so perverted, but God's principles remain the same. I will not argue either way, but I will simply present the scriptures (all from the new testament too) for you to make up your own minds.

1. Matt. 23:23 and Luke 11:42 - Jesus condemns the scribes and Pharisees for tithing even the smallest things, without doing the more important things like mercy, fair judgement and faith. However, He then concludes by asking them to do these more vital things, without leaving the tithing undone. I think this answers the OP's question. No, tithing alone will not get you to heaven!

2. Luke 18:12-14 - Jesus tells the story of two people praying, one a Pharisee, one a sinner. The Pharisee prays proudly saying he fasts twice a week and pays tithes, while the sinner prays humbly for mercy. Jesus concludes that the sinner is more justified than the other because,"everyone that exaltheth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted". Notice that Jesus does not condemn d scribe for tithing, but rather for being proud about it. If tithing were wrong from here, then so also would fasting twice a week. The lesson is, if you tithe, well and good, do not be proud of it. Also, if you are a sinner and do not tithe, God can still accept you; but this is not the ideal situation.

3. Hebrews 7:4-9 - Here, Paul suggests that tithing is a spiritual principle. Of particular importance is verse 8, where Paul says, "And here men that die receive tithes; but there He receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth". In other words, as human beings receive tithes here on earth, Jesus in heaven receives them there. When you pay tithes, you are not giving to any man, but to Jesus himself. You should imagine you are standing before God when presenting it. This is also an answer to those people saying you can pay tithes by giving alms, this is not what the scripture teaches.

What I can only say to pastors is that, please and please do not force people to pay tithes, it does not guarantee heaven, neither does it make one holy; however, simply present the Word of God to the people and leave them with the choice of whether to obey or not to obey.

Thank you very much.
This is what happens when Christians become Pastor worshippers and fail to study their Bibles properly.

Of course Jesus Christ would have NEVER asked the Pharisees to stop paying tithes. They were JEWS and it was Jewish custom to pay tithes to compensate the Levites for not working. How convenient of you to cherry pick passages from the Old testament and ignore others. Why do we not send women who are menstruating to the 'unclean' corner? Why no more burnt offerings?

The Bible is rife with stories of how the early Christians handled financial matters; the early SPIRIT FILLED Christians were selling property and giving to the poor, selling property and taking it to the church where it was shared THEN AND THERE with the widows, the sick and the needy. Yet you charlatans will rather use that verse in Malachi instead of reading the Acts of the Apostles!

Jesus Christ had tons of parables focusing on love, charity and giving to the poor. He had ZERO about sowing seeds, tithing and 'first fruits'. Yet our Pastors these days slavishly focus on tithes and sowing seeds...and sheep like you lap it up.

lastpage: 2.) The "big, moral question" hanging on El Rufai's neck now are:
(a) Are those same "plots classified as GREEN BELT" no longer on Green Belt anymore, now that you have allocated them to your family members. Source the Geese, source the Gander!

(b)As Minister, you have the power to make such decisions as 'classifying an area as green belt', did you abuse your power to re-classify those same plots so your family can benefit from them?

(c)What makes your own family members so special that they can make use of the "green belt" while other private citizens cant? Does this not amount to gross abuse of office?
No. The real question is...who told you that it was the revoked plots he re-allocated to other NIgerians (which includes 8 of his family members)?

The 27000 plots of land is the TOTAL land parcels he allocated in his entire tenure, not the revoked plots of land. This figure (27000) appears so many places online. Are you too lazy to do some basic research?

Perhaps El Rufai should have couched his answer in clearer terms to remove all ambiguity...but what rational, sane human being will believe that a whopping 27000 plots of land were revoked?

abdulmaliq: HOW IT WORKS.

The device is powered externally as needed. inside the device is a coil and a capacitor. When the RFID chip is exposed to an electromagnetic field the same frequency as the coil is tuned to then the coil takes some of the energy from this field and charges the capacitor which then powers the chip long enough to transmit, using frequency variations on the same coil that it used to get the power, to transmit a code. Your personal ID number. This is the same system used by EZPass but with larger coils.

In biblical numerology 777 is God and 6 is man so 666 is man trying to be god. One way man tries to be god to to control everything through our own technology.

This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666. Revelations 13:8

wesley80: Question: What criteria was used that "appeared to be designed to exclude those from the Northern states"?

Answer: It was made exclusively for Graduates with a First class, NYSC discharge cert and those that graduated within the last two academic sessions.

Conclusion: Some provision should've been made to accommodate some "dullards" from the North; 'Federal Character' is what its called and its the antithesis to being "merit based" except that in Nigeria, that's the 'legal' way of doing things hence mediocrity holds sway in every facet of our collective national life from football to the highest office in the land, that's until someone brave enough chooses to ignore the usual 'Nigerian way' and does what's right. "Fresh Air" is what that's called!
What does this have to do with 'Fresh Air'? This is just the NUC following laid down process for awarding some post-graduate scholarship. Quota system still exists whole sale in University admissions and Federal Government colleges. It still exists 100% in federal appointments.

You do not have to politicize everything. Shower praise on the guys at the NUC if they stand their ground (you don't know if they will buckle under pressure at the end) if you must praise anyone.
