Now there is a good joke to start of the day.  Perennial election LOSER Ayatollah Buhari is the primary sponsor and instigator of the current terrorism wave  sweeping northern Nigeria, so it will indeed be a cold day in hell before the engineer of that bloodshed would ever consider calling a stop to the mayhem he has gleefully created.
there you go again with the jokes. You're sitting pretty out of the line of fire while people who have seen the 'Fresh air' they voted for turn to H2S are the ones suffering.

Boko Haram has existed for years. Now they are back, emboldened by a weak President whose only solution is to propose spending taxpayers' money in another brainless Amnesty programme or to use 'dialogue' with a group that isn't interested in any peace overtures.

I really don't know the motives of this Boko-Haram guyz, If they are fighting for a change, you are not suppose to kill innocent souls, as for the Niger Delta militants, their motives was clear, we all knew that GEJ was part of their sponsors and was just looking for opportunities to spend money on his people. Boko-Haram are now here from the North trying to cause chaos in the that is still suffering from serious injuries caused by former politicians. Except their motive is religious then we can now plot for anoda angle in solving this. I think its high time we rise from the South west to start ours whose motive would be for serious change.
List of our potential targets if we are to start,
1. National Assembly and all those in it
2. A meeting where all the Elder Statesmen in the country would be present. That includes former presidents, Top government officials and present president (Luckily for us, Obasanjo would be present)
3. Bombing of the cars where most of this thieves kids are.
4. Bombing all their major house of residents of this people,  We all know those who stole among them,
5. A new government would arise and makes a constitution that enables death sentence to those who steal from the public fund,

I don't even know what to add to this, all i want is a better Nigeria,  It pains me to see my beloved country in this kinda mess,
I want the militants and Boko-haram to come together as 1 and fight this good course.

Note: Just kidding bout the listed sites b4 somebody tries to get me arrested. But the truth is that we still need to fight,  Let this war begin!!!
Boko Haram have stated their motives innumerable times. If you claim not to know their motives at this point, it's more a pointer to lack of intelligence on your part. That is all.

Dear all ,

I concurred with Simpledude. Guaranty Trust Bank's ATMs are very secure. I always feel comfortable using them. This case if true may be a one-off. I hope people in the Bank are reading this , so that they could take precautionary measures if the case happens to be true.

While this post seems educative , but the intention is not so clear. This poster seems to know a little bit more than the average person on skimming and skimmers. Playing the devil's advocate here , could this poster be checking out GTB's defense mechanism against skimming? Does he want to know more about what the Bank has put in place to safeguard its customers?

We have all become more educated on ATM security by this post , and we will be more watchful and vigilant so that we do not fall victims of these bad boys.

But , the real intention of the poster is a little bit unclear to me .
So we should believe you, Mr-one-post-on-Nairaland?
The real intention of your birth is a little bit unclear to me too. Was it to increase the number of re'tards in Nigeria?

young man (or woman), I did not snigger, and I also do not take any of my comments back. I just find it incredulous that this was mentioned without apparent proof as to how the investigators reached that conclusion. Have you ever heard of a case in which a well known (no escaping the fact here) person was convicted and sentenced to death and yet only bits and pieces of the story filtered to the public? Don't mind me if I seem not to have too much faith in the Nigerian justice system; truly, I don't, whether it was sat on by 2 courts or 20.

Now, you say

I'll ask,  have you read the Casey Anthony files? Its been on the American news for days now: A relatively unknown story, but by the time the judgement was delivered everyone in the country knew almost all there was to know of the story.

I fear that there's a very high chance this woman isn't actually guilty, especially as we are talking of Nigeria where we know that a high percentage of people have been imprisoned on spurious (and often non-existent) charges.
Please re-read the original article.
This case has long since been done and dusted, she had been convicted and sentenced by two other courts. There was no new trial here. Why would you compare this to the Casey Anthony trial which was the first time the case had been taken through the legal system?

She moved on to the Supreme Court to overturn the previous guilty verdict. That isn't sensational news.
When Ibinabo Fiberesima was being tried by a Lagos court, the news was in the papers to far greater detail. You can't expect the same for an almost 10 year old case.

I find it highly amusing that you feel there's a 'very high chance the woman is innocent' but have no logical reason to back up this claim. Abeg stop babbling about 'spurious evidence' when you know nothing about this issue. This has gone through TWO judgements!

Really scary. Basically guilty until proven innocent
Please read the article again. She was trying to overturn 2 previous guilty verdicts, it wasn't a fresh trial. At that stage, the onus is on her to convince the supreme court that the previous judgements were flawed.
Prosecutors had already convinced 2 courts that she was guilty beyond any reasonable doubt.

verbal confession in Nigeria admitted as evidence, seriously?

To all the people 'supporting the death penalty 100%' , how sure are you that she's been 'proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt' (which is what is required by law in most civilized countries)?
Unless there's more to this story than has been reported, a death penalty seems most harsh. My 2 cents.
Again, i re-iterate that this case has been through TWO courts, both of which found her guilty. Asking if she has been proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt is rather silly. I have no idea why you're sniggering at the poisoned eclairs, it's not as if it's far fetched in any way.

This article is just to inform the world that the Supreme Court upheld the earlier guilty verdict. I have no idea why you expected all the facts of the case to be contained in this article.

I made the payment of $19.99 via my GTBank Visa card.
After about 15 mins, my payment was confirmed.
I opened the application again on my ipad, after verification of my serial# payment, I received a prompt to "reboot my device"
After rebooting, 2 new icon show on my home screen, an icon for "phone" for making GSM calls and "Message" for sending & receiving SMS just like secular phones.
Now, I have made calls with it, I have finally confirmed it working, everyone around me were surprised when I made call via ipad, it was like a magic.

You're such a brainless twit.
The article mentions the 'Supreme Court' several times. When have you ever heard of a 'supreme court of Sharia'? Is there really any educated adult in Nigeria that does not know what court the term 'apex court' refers to?
Also, what's the logic in assuming a judge named 'Francis' could be a justice in the mythical 'Supreme Court of Sharia'? You're just hearing of this case and suddenly you're 'sure' and 'convinced' she's innocent even when several other law courts have found her guilty, even when she has a confessional statement on file, even when you haven't read a single word of any of the previous judgements!

This has NOTHING to do with Boko Haram and everything to do with the death penalty. Just for the record, I am 100% in support of the death penalty for murderers, kidnappers and their ilk. Hell, i blame the Government. Public firing squad execution is a far better deterrent to killers than hanging.

There's nothing objective or realistic about the crap Texazzpete is spewing here. Our communities have been kind enough to provide his like with a living at our own detriment, yet he is quick to dismiss our communities as deserving of the treatment they receive.

His argument about communities holding their LGA and State Government is a Nationwide argument. Roichi made a salient and valid point by asking him what his own LGA in Edo State had contributed to his community.

Nobody is absolving Niger Delta leaders of corruption. They are as corrupt as the system allows. In rebuttal to his point, the answer simply is that the Federal Government's lax attitude to corruption is wholly responsible for misuse of public funds. Why should the poor community be blamed for their leaders ineptitude when those with jurisdiction over their leaders (Federal Government, EFCC) are not interested in ensuring that their leaders are accountable.

The Niger Delta is just a microcosm of Nigeria. Where we start, the rest of Nigeria will inevitably follow. Every part of the country is now agitating, kidnapping, blowing up bombs etc. When we started, they said those lazy fishermen have come again. We are simply a leading indicator of social degredation in Naija. Those who say "Niger Delta deserve their leaders" are the same ones who said "Niger Delta only know how to kidnap". Now ask them whether kidnapping hasn't assumed even greater dimensions in each of their respective localities.

As for those saying that oil coys do not strike deals with local communities, they are not privvy to what happens on ground. Ask any King or local chief how many deals are struck with oil coys or how much remittance is paid to the King monthly. Long before PIB was mooted, oil coys have been paying each and every Amanyanabo in whichever Kingdom they operate. It is an admission of mea culpa that the initial deals struck with the Government in the 1950s were completely to the detriment of the local people who bare the brunt of oil exploration on the Nations behalf.
Chief, let's strip sentiment out of this. My position is not restricted to the Niger Delta alone, I personally feel the Nigerian masses are deserving of the suffering they receive and will receive due to their foolishness in returning the evil PDP back to power.
However, your stance that corruption is not restricted to the ND alone is an unfortunate one. When we focus on a disaster area, we need to ensure that the much needed relief funds are well used. Even now we are all about to suffer for the deliberate diversion of funds and effort towards education for the Northern youths.

Even if the Oil companies devote 10% of their profits to handing out goodies to the Niger Delta, it still will not be enough, And it still will be totally unjust. Taxes, afterall, are paid to both the state and the federal governments. The money trickling down to the state and local government level is enough to take great strides in fixing the ND. Your people MUST pay more focus to fighting corruption and holding their leaders responsible.

Finally, I want your comment on which party is supposed to build roads, provide water and schools for the ND people.

Let's not miss the point. The key issue is that an agreement has been reached b/w the community and shell who agreed to provide electricity for them. If this us not possible a clear explanation and alternative needs to be provided. On a wider dimension, the oil companies has an ethical duty to provide supports for the communities whose environs are being damaged by their activities. A direct approach of providing these services is better than passing the money via local or state govts who would divert it elsewhere.

Shell pls honor your promise to these poor people!!! Their electricity consumption is so minimal.

Shell It cost you nothing to show respect for communities and foster a harmony. After all so many rich individuals are doing a lot to help the poor.

In my community in isoko, shell provides water and pays our electricity bills as part of the support for he poor, and this has improved our relationship with the company.
In all this, no written agreement has been tendered. What is your proof or guarantee that an agreement was reached?

Sigh!Once again let me reiterate unequivocally & categorically just in any event it flew over your head the first time.I have absolutely no qualms with Islamic banking or non-interest banking whatever pseudonym they choose to call it after all it is supposed to bring in much needed investment into the country. The scepticism a lot of people have with this project is based on fear as a result of deeply entrenched acrimony following years of religious strife which has seen some of the most brutal & gruesome murders known to man committed for the sake of religion. Thus anything with a religious tag is viewed with suspicion.
If this is too difficult for you to grasp,i'm sorry I can't help you
