basher: You post would have made more sense if you had included people like Ben Okri and Wole Soyinka in the list of people we celebrate. By limiting that list to people of Igbo extraction, you are concluding that anybody who questions the validity or the motive behind these allegations is Igbo. What does this then make you?? More dangerously, you have concluded that these allegations are true.
On the contrary, it is people like you blinded by (ethnicity) that jump to biased conclusions that are the problem with Nigeria. You try to come across as unbiased but failed woefully. Coming from you who has been trying to paint a picture of Emeagwali being hounded by the Yoruba media, this post of yours is dripping with hypocrisy! |

Double N: Andriod 2.2 (Froyo) does it on all devices!. As for the best apps being on the iphone i can't deny that (being an iphone guy as well). If only Oga Jobs can be more open minded with the device(and i'm not talking about jail-breaking here). You re-inforce my point. How many Android phones are running legit versions of FroYo now? What happens to the HTC hero, Dream, Magic? What of the Xperia X10 (still struggling to get 2.1). What of the Dell Streak? Of course, rooting and installing one of the Cyanogen mods will fix that, but it'll then no longer be a case of 'built in by default'. |

Now here is my question, what have you done worth praising yourself even it involves hype. I see no reason for all this post over someone regarded as a scientist of note. will all your tantrums collect that precious Gordon Bell prize from him. ALMUSTAQIM: Edo tells striking doctors: Resume work or be fired
….You can’t intimidate us, doctors insist
BENIN—THE face-off between doctors in Edo State and the state government, deepened, weekend, following the threat by the state government to sack any doctor under its employ, who failed to resume work today.
But in a swift reaction, the state chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, Dr. Philip Ugbodaga, described the threat as “provocative,” saying that “no doctor was summarily employed by the state government, so no doctor can be summarily dismissed by Edo State government and we cannot be intimidated.”
It will be recalled that doctors in the state embarked on indefinite strike action to press for the release of the former Chief Medical Director of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital , UBTH, Prof. Eugene Okpere, who was kidnapped penultimate week.
Since then, the doctors extended the strike to protest what they described as incessant kidnapping of doctors in the state and general insecurity. But breaking its silence, weekend, on the ongoing strike, which it condemned and described as unacceptable, the state government, through a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Mr Pally Iriase, said “from reports collated so far, many innocent persons have died as a result of the strike/industrial action.
Vanguard Newspaper Dear Mr. SSG, from the reports collated so far how many Edo State citizens have died as a result of kidnapping? How many have been permanently traumatized from being kidnapped? |

Without the BIS facilities, the BB is one of the lamest smartphone platforms out there. If you weren't going to use BIS, then buying a BB instead of a vastly superior Android device is rather puzzling. |

belushi7: I didnt say you cannot achieve all that with your jailbroken iphone. read my post again. i said after reading reviews and users opinions, i settled for android. but truly, i dont need to root my sgs for example just to bluetooth to another phone brand and i can put in a video call to any phone brand i like that supports 3g compared to iphone's facetime. My conclusion on picking android over ios was based on 1. reviews, 2. users opinions and 3. using it in nigeria. I will not discourage anyone from getting his iphone, my preference for now is android. And really, rooting my sgs was just done by one click. nothing stressful. Then stop posting misleading information about 'open' and 'closed'. You can also make video calls to other phones via the iPhone's front facing camera without using facetime. There are FREE 3rd party apps that do this. See what i mean about misleading information? Jailbreaking iOS devices is also one click using limerain/greep0ison. See? No offence/beef meant, i'm just clearing the air. if you notice, i have been praising the SG S as a really solid device. Anyone with that phone is cutting edge |

belushi7: galaxy s please, and the screen is now joke. i have mine set at 30% brightness and still people marvel at the super amoled screens clarity. the black colour is sooo deep, and like i said, this is at 30%, imagine at 100%! my reason for choosing sgs is because with android you can still get a lot of things done( as an open source) unlike the iphone. both phones are not supported in nigeria but with the tons on free apps in the android market, you'll have more than enough. We all know the problems with jailbreaking your iphone, i dont think i want a phone as a patient. on the other side, even with an unlocked galaxy s, you are good to go without any problem and you will enjoy your sgs to the fullest. 1. There are more free apps on the iPhone AppStore than on Android Market 2. jailbreaking is typically much easier than rooting your android phone Do you guys even know what you're talking about sef? smh. |

Abagworo: Nigerians deserve to know the truth.Nothing wrong with telling us that the militants decided to release the hostages after negotiations. Kidnapping is a serious criminal offense in Nigeria. It can cause severe emotional trauma for the victims and their families. The people that did the kidnap are heinous criminals that should be fished out and punished (executed, IMHO) Telling us that some 'activist' reached out and 'negotiated' with the criminals means nothing. The only meaningful thing is to arrest, prosecute and punish these crooks. The 'activist' should be squeezed for as much information as she can divulge. That is all. |

belushi7: androids are very good. i use the sgs. but you guys should not hound those in love with their symbian, they have their reasons too for choosing symbian. I have come a long way, started with nokia, then sonyericsson, after which i went on with windows mobile and now with android. i leave each of those platforms to get the satisfaction i desire in the new ones. windows mobile (x1) for me then was slow and after reading through what ios and android has to offer, i picked android. the galaxy s is just it for me now. i have been on xda developers for years now and doubt if i can use any closed system smartphone (bb, iphone). i have since rooted and installed custom rom on my sgs (bionix fusion 1.2), its damn snappy even though i am yet to enable the lagfix on it. right now i am reading quadrant score of 880, if i apply the lagfix it will be in the range of over 2000, you can imagine the speed. however, i will also like to argue for those on symbian that they do have some advantages. like they can purchase paid apps with our nigerian debit cards while we can only download free apps (although there are plenty of them, more than enough sef). Also the google map is not as detailed as the ovi map (with free voice navigation). these are support systems that nokia has made available for their nigerian users which google is yet to do. I have in fact been shopping for better map for my sgs like garmap and co.
But all in all, i will still choose my android for now over the symbian, it gets the work done and the hardware is not as bulky as the average nokia (the sgs is 9.9mm thin) and the UI is far more interesting/ exciting.
@na2day, thanks for the tunein radio app, i sure need one cos my sgs is an unlocked t-mobile vibrant version, it doesn't come with fm radio like the I9000 and with a 6gig plan from glo, its more than adequate for our internet hungry android. You guys just spout the term 'closed' and 'open' as if you really know what you're talking about. You can't install any of the custom roms on your android devices without rooting it. Similarly your iPhone remains closed until you jailbreak it. Once jailbroken, the iPhone is pretty much open. I can't understand why people would whine about the iPhone being a 'closed platform' when the freedom is just a jailbreak away, then they'd turn around and go through the more tedious rooting process on their android devices. |

ElRazur: Op, you need to make a fair comparison.
Iphone4 is newer and will probably have better specs
PSP on the other hand is a bit dated now. Also like already mentioned some game out there will trounce that of the Iphone4.
It may be worth adding that screen shot is never a good comparison, it may have been enhanced or post processed. Just my two cent. Yep, it's an unfair comparison because the iPhone 4 is newer. I never said the iPhone is a better gaming device than the PSP. All i talked about was the graphics capabilities. Most PSP games look far better than most iPhone games because of the game budget, development time etc. But as more and more studios are putting the effort into mobile game development, we're seeing the superior GPU and CPU start to make the difference. I have the RAGE game, and i can assure you that there is no image manipulation. But don't take my word for it. Get a friend with an iPhone 4 to download Epic Citadel from the App Store. it's free and it's made with Unreal Engine 3. Prepare to be blown away I know the PSP2 will be awesome. I have my sights set on getting a Nintendo 3DS. That's gonna be one awesome machine too |

Infinity Blade is running on Unreal Engine 3 on the iPhone 4. The PSP can't handle that. The level of detail in that Infinity Blade screenshot is way higher than that in that God of War screenshot. You no dey see texture quality? Don't forget that Unreal Engine 3 on the iPhone 4/iPad is running at a far higher resolution that the PSP is capable of.
We're talking of graphics capabilities also, not just actual games.
You know who John Carmack is? He's come out to say that the iPhone 4 is theoretically capable of dishing out visuals better than what you see on the Wii. The PSP is still inferior to the PS2. |
