Even the S-AMOLED screen still suffers some washout under sunlight. Less than that for plain AMOLED screens, but it's still there.

and pls tel me what android can do and symbian cant.
Android is a modern, optimized OS with an elegant UI and tons of top-notch apps. Symbian is a prehistoric relic (just like Windows Mobile) that is fast being rejected by Smartphone consumers.

i dont even know the fubnction of the yeye fone, how do u install java apps? cant even install a single theme!make android go sit down jawe.
Good thing you mentioned that you know nothing of android.

1. Android is not a phone. It's an OS running on lots of Awesome hardware
2. Java apps? Native Android apps blow all those your crappy java and .sis apps out of the water.
3. Themes? Lots of them are on the Android market

Sports › Re: I Need 3 Years To Rebuild Eagles -siasia by texazzpete(m): 3:23pm On Nov 18, 2010
This is what i've been saying since; Nigerians love to overhype some people!
Largerback was given 3 months and people nearly ate him raw when the Eagles failed to perform at the world cup. Now Siasia is asking for 3 years and people are lapping it up without complaining?!

We don't need three years to get back to being a dominant force in Africa. We need more than 3 years to be a truly world class side that can take on the likes of Argentina and Brazil without flinching. But for the purposes of the next African Nations cup in 2012, one year is enough time to build a team capable of going toe-to-toe with any other African country!

The NFF should set a target of winning the 2012 Nations cup for Siasia. I don't know why he is bleating about 'realistic targets'. Winning the ANC in 2010 is a very realistic target for anyone who came in on a lot of hype like Siasia did.
Phones › Re: Nokia Unleashes The First Symbian Fone- The N8 Hits The Streetz by texazzpete(m): 10:18pm On Nov 17, 2010
Yup, i disagree grin

The whole world knows that even with the N8, they are still chasing the leaders (iOS and Android).
Even Nokia classifies the N8 as a midrange device, not on the same level as the iPhone 4 and the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S.
Nokia dug themselves into a hole when they let Symbian stagnate. MeeGo is the future for them, not this lipstick-on-a-pig that is Symbian ver 3.

I'm not surprised you're defending your 'txt speak'. Anything is to be expected from someone who thinks Symbian is any threat to the Android OS.
Smartphone sales figures clearly show a very significant drop in Nokia's marketshare. Nokia just had their CEO step down after coming under intense criticism for the decline of the Nokia smartphone marketshare. And here you are talking without facts.

Seriously, if you can't type in plain English, just STFU. Reading through your post is extremely frustrating.

As far as symbian is concerned, most of those apps you're proud of are hopelessly outdated, look extremely dated and are clunky as hell. Not to mention that there are apps for pretty much everything on the iOs and Android application stores.
Symbian is in serious decline. Deal with it.

so cos of an incident in way back 2008 any development in the state doesnt matter right?
Because of an incident still happening now!
How many of the pastors behind this saga have been prosecuted over this issue? How many parents have been arrested for child abuse?
Akpabio's nonchalance has put his state on the map for these atrocities. Instead of him to fix the problem, the state government is busy chasing the only people to have done something.

So by your own logic, it's ok for the governor to even kill your entire family, he'll get pass mark just for installing many flyovers?
In a more sane society, the people of Illinois kicked out their governor for trying to sell off obama's seat and take bribes. No one cared whatever he had done in the state. That is how it is supposed to be. I wonder why all you paid praise singers cannot see that.

You are totally correct. We have Fashola to thank completely . His detractors are indolent enemies of progress. Is an improvement in security, attested to by Lagosians themselves, not incontrovertible proof that Fashola is the best? Yet some disgruntled elements will come here to say he is a glorified tree planter !!! At a time when most states are becoming more unsafe Lagos is actually bucking the trend . Can you imagine what we will enjoy if Fashola gets his demand for State Policing? The PDP will only leave us with thieving Vampires . Vote them out and gain more leaders like Governor Fashola . They exist but we must help them emerge.
Tell your beloved Fashola to settle with the striking doctors. See Lagosians suffering and smiling!

See politics!

In this century, if a Nigerian invents something of the magnitude dynamite had in Alfred's time, the Western forces would label Nigeria as a terrorist country and the inventor, MOST WANTED!

The thing Nigeria needs is not to hustle and grind to get ''european titles'' but appreciate ourselves and our own indigenous works and underate theirs.

See China!
1. The Nobel prize is a world prize.
2. Arms manufacturers are not labelled 'terrorists' in today's world. It's people who use those arms to slay innocent non-combatants (and their suppliers) that are tarred with the 'terrorist' brush.

I'm not sure what your reference to China was about, because Chinese people have happily won the Nobel prize before. if you want Nigeria to be more like China, spend less time on online forums making snarky comments and more time reading your books. Plus, pressure your leaders to do more for education.
It's not 'black pride' or 'self-appreciation' that will make Nigeria replicate the Chinese example. Fix your educational system, reduce corruption and eliminate this stupid ethnic/tribal bias and we're halfway there.

Politics › Re: Alfred Nobel The Owner Nobel Prize Was An Arms Manufacturer And Dealer by texazzpete(m): 10:51am On Nov 12, 2010
Mbeki:
You got it wrong man, Nobel's father was an arms dealer and the son continued after him, together, they supplied arms to Russians during the Crimean war (1853-1856, Charge of the Light Brigade) was heating up and Russia was purchasing large quantities of naval mines to keep the British at bay.

He later acquired AB Bofors in Karlskoga, Sweden, one of the largest Arms manufacturer in the world in his last year on earth.
this is a quote from Albert Einstein
"In 1945 Albert Einstein in a speech following the use of the atomic bombs on Japan said "Alfred Nobel invented an explosive more powerful than any then known--an exceedingly effective means of destruction. To atone for this 'accomplishment' and to relieve his conscience, he instituted his award for the promotion of peace." It is not at all clear that Nobel actually felt this way, and it may be that Nobel really developed arms technology because the opportunity was there and supported his work."

If you're still doubting, please research further!
And as your post implies, Nobel had cause to have a rethink about the dangerous effects of warfare and at the end, he left much of his wealth to reward those who moved for peace. So he isn't 100% wrong.

Mbeki:
How can a man who owned one of the largest arms manufacturing industry in the world be talking of awarding others peace prize. To me the Nobel Prize is not worth having or celebrating.
The whites has succeeded in brainwashing  the blacks to believe anything they offer is the best.
Africans should stop accepting the Nobel Peace prize because Alfred Nobel owned AB Bofors one of the largest arms manufacturing firm in the world till his death, he should not be talking of peace in one hand while selling arms to destroy innocent souls with the other.
Your original post is stupid beyond belief. Everyone is allowed to change their minds about things. If he decided to devote most of his wealth to the promotion of science and peace, what is your problem with that?
Your reference to black people and brainwashing is also really daft. Were weapons made by AB Bofors only used to kill blacks? Why then are you assuming that the Nobel prize is meant for only whites?
Luckily, the Africans that are nominated (and win) the Nobel prize are a good deal smarter and more accomplished than yourself, so this brainless rant from you will not sway anyone.

Always remember that the origin does not matter as much as what it stands for now. West Germany paid Israel billions of marks in the early 50s as compensation for some of the holocaust crimes committed, as well as jewish slave labour. This money helped to make Israel a powerhouse then. So they should not have extracted money from the Germans abi?

Strike is not a must for everybody. People must be convinced to participate and not forced. Running to the Tarmac to stop a plane from fluing is equally crazy and against security protocols. I personally don’t blame the policeman for preventing his boss from being mobeed.
Shooting the man in the arm falls under 'excessive use of force', and the policeman should have been prosecuted in any decent society.

Here's a hint: There's no other way to get attention. Perhaps they could take up arms?

The Governor took an oath to protect the lives and properties of Lagosians. When you go on strike as a doctor for a cause that is right, you'd expect the Government to do the right thing and take concrete steps to solving the impasse.
When the Government does nothing, it only shows the contempt they hold for the common man.
Health › Re: Lagos Approves 75% Conmess For Doctors by texazzpete(m): 5:46pm On Nov 10, 2010
Sorry for ranting on and on, but i'm really pissed off with some of the comments in this section.

LUTH is just ONE federal hospital, but it has 900 doctors.

Lagos State Government has only 1100 doctors. And these cater for 24 general hospitals, 276 primary healthcare clinics and a teaching hospital!
And the Lagos State Government continues to build more and more without employing dramatically more staff. As a result Lagos State doctors are far more overworked than their federal counterparts.
Yet to add to this ignominy, they are earning significantly less than their counterparts in the Federal hospitals.

At the same time, rents in Lagos are going up, cost of living is going up. And yet people are demanding they stay and work in such conditions!

Keep kissing the rump of your god-messiah-perfect Governor who would rather ferret away the state's money into the pockets of his cronies.
