Lagos State Ministry of Health is unrelenting in the determination to achieve Universal Health Coverage as covered in their goal – that every Lagosian enjoys unfettered access to qualitative healthcare without significant geographical, financial, cultural or political barriers– the Ministry of Health and affiliate health agencies held a workshop on Human Resources for Health Budget Review & Operational Planning Workshop in Lagos this week. The workshop was aimed at planning and optimising their staff strength and capabilities for better delivery of healthcare in 2018. Present at the workshop were representatives of Ministry of Health Health Professionals Integration Unit, Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, School of Nursing, Primary Health Care Board, Health Service Commission, LASUTH Board, representatives of Save the Children Nigeria and civil society organisations. https://healthsectorwatch. |
Hi. I just started a Facebook group for proofreaders and editors in Nigeria so we can have a platform to exchange information and grow together. It is also an easy avenue to share workload easily. If you are interested, the name is Proofreaders & Editors in Nigeria. |
This is interesting. I just listened to an advert for the seminar at Leadway Training centre for Oct 2 and decided to check them out. The training is N1000 this year. |
I got tired of MTN and their tight fisted antics in 2013. I ported and I have not looked back since. Shior for them. |

First, they did not 'meet'. These two attended services (for votes). Their culture dictated their pose for talking and prayers. In the picture with David Cameron, there's more respect of personal space while in the picture with GEJ, they stood more closely together, as per we do not really care for things like that here. Hope Cameron has GEJ 's list of pastors and imams and babalawos. ![]() |
Heartfelt prayers are the most effective. The Bible in James 5:16 assures us that the prayers of a righteous person is powerful and effective. Extended prayers should be done at midweek prayer meetings and vigils but pastors know a lot of people come to services with issues on their minds and so many still conduct long prayers at every service. I don't like repeating myself during prayers and will rather read the Bible in between. |
Imagine all my needs taken care of for 16 years. I would be grateful too. Chauffeurs, cooks, constant electricity, WiFi on demand, my kids school fees, designer wears, designer accessories, the best cars and private jets. 27 Million naira pension... Yes, I will be very satisfied. Go home and enjoy yourself. Write a book and we will give you more money to read it. You are set for life, no shaking. |
I think part of the reason is our idea of how to raise kids. We mostly think of food, clothing and shelter. That is, after the one year or so of total dependence on the mother. Then we hand over to the teachers. They come back from school daily and its home work and TV. Or house chores sef. If you think of being involved in every aspect of their lives-reading to them every night at bedtime, PES for each of them, personal rooms for them, trained nannies, teaching them to cook, taking them to music class, sports training, taking them out on weekends to beaches, malls, fun centers and even the once a year travel to Dubai or UK, you will put full stop at 2kids. |
So many will say it should not be that way yet the way men go about it in this Nigeria is terrible. When they find themselves staying at home either from being laid off or from laziness, they don't do house chores, they don't help with the children, and when the woman buys things for the house, they don't say thank you. Sometimes they are even the wife beaters, venting their frustration on their wife. I've heard of some in farming communities in the south-south who stay home while the wives and children till the farmland yet when the farm produce is sold, they collect it and send on akpeteshie. ![]() |
Vock: The Onlookers, why are they not doing anything?? you can't try that in Lagos with people looking at youIn Lagos markets, nobody will raise alarm because if they do, after the victim is gone, their gang comes to attack the whistle blower. I know someone that they simply kept pouring watery shyte in front of her shop overnight for two weeks until she begged them. Less influential people may get beaten up, especially guys. |
I would support this motion on the hope that the millions who seek refuge in the church will become politically active. If religious bodies 'give unto Ceasar what is Ceasar's', they will not be so apathetic concerning the Nigerian situation. They will rail from the pulpits and and and... Who knows? |
nikkie90: I'm a pattern drafter.......its my profession and I love it with passionI love it too. I completed a training in Surulere late last year after trying unsuccessfully to learn from online sources. How did you get to know about it and where did you learn from? @nikky90 |
Are there nairalanders who make fashion patterns, either as a hobby or a job description? I love pattern mmaking and would like us to relate and share professionally. |
Just go to International Trade Fair Complex, Ojo in Lagos. Ask for Balogun market. There you will see traders who have goods on ground and are desperate for buyers. |
I have a portfolio with them also. Just go to their office in Ikeja with documents that show the relevant information and make your request. |
You left out pregnancy. |
HotNaijaBabe: Lol.. No one is pulling a SAKA on me oh, I am not porting to Empty Hen..lai lai...looolin fact, I am porting from mtn to etisalat instead. |
I assume this is FG's idea of a joke. Prohibition ko, these products and more are sold in the open market. |
Definitely our Registry date. We did the introduction, then went to registry, had a traditional that was more of partying and did thanksgiving in church afterwards. Our parents gave their consent long before all these so they were for the world to know and its at registry that you get documents anyway. |
General Garicks: The glut in the market is seriously annoying. This is december and instead of cement price going up, it's rather coming down. People are not even cashing in on the lower prices to build their houses as they complain there is no money anywhere. The cheapest trip of stones is about N28,000. White sand is about N17,000 a trip. A tank of water is N4,000. A 2-bedroom bungalow with fencing can consume 3-trips of stones, 8-trips of sand, 6-tanks of water and about 4,500 blocks at a cost of N140 per block. Labour and supervision fees is something else. These things are costly to source. Cement dealers are really crying.I think Dangote's main headache would be that if he reduces price in the South East, he has to do the same in other regions of the country. There's really no reason for him to reduce prices there as his brand is preferred and his prices are good enough compared with the competition. Its simply a business decision. |
k2039: 1±0IMO the definition of the best education is subjective. |
dont8: Unfortunately for the parents, this experience will spur her to do more.If this does not work, nothing ever will work on her. As a teenager living in a small neighbourhood, my dad's promises of shaming us children was enough to keep us in line. No one let him try it. This is much better than flogging. |
Great. You did well with the easy to follow explanations. I brought my questions here though. What kind of glue is best and when's the article on diy ankara shoes? If Its on your own blog already please let me have the link. |
Smoking is bad for health. |
Lol @ atrocities :-) Yeah it does seem like she did. Thing is, she didn't really want anything external for the fear of not knowing what to wear it with and all too. But it really isn't really difficult to figure out. U can do turtle necks, high necklines, tube tops/dresses, etc
high neckline and tubes work out well. I don't like turtlenecks but I can see it working out fine. Thanks. |
About posting, I'm still on bows and Its still the general fabric and jewelry so I thought better not to bore people. |
If she's the one in the purple dress, it seems she did use jewelry afterall. Lovely bib but I'm reluctant to buy any cos I don't understand how to mix and what what kinds of neckline. The atrocities I've seen ladies commit with it ehn! |
Yes o. I made my first sale through Nairaland in October and he's a repeat customer too. I sell wholesale Dangote cement. |
Great post. Always verbally express your appreciation of your kids, not only your displeasure. Especially if they are naturally shy or timid. |
Best comment so far. @ op, Same tribe or not, in-law issues will almost certainly come up. Distance is essential, so maybe you should relocate, and be nice to your in-laws no matter, but don't take no shyte. Pray too.
Don't be deceived @ op. You will take shyte, in the bucketloads. It will be dished out even If you have ten sons. Even If you marry from your own tribe. What's more important is that you learn to deal with them as they are. Even your best friends give you shyte not to mention in-laws. I believe its the most complicated relationship ever. Enjoy the good times and be steadfast when the bad times come because they will still give way to good times. Son or no son. All the best. |
