No need for this....how on earth do you expect them to win with such inconsistent display?
Germany, Australia, Italy in our group and somehow we went 0/3. This is unacceptable. With players that have been in basketball programs all their lives in the no.1 basketball nation on the planet. Totally unacceptable. They should just disband the entire basketball association until they get their acts together.

Scoring 8 points in a 4th quarter after taking an 8 point lead to that same quarter? Lol. No team would touch Mike brown with a 100ft pole after this disgrace of an outing. My lord!!! Chai

Make them book their first ticket home. After the performance in this tournament. I can imagine many of their parent nba teams would terminate these players contract. No heart, no nothing. Its one thing to be outplayed. But out rebounded and turning the ball over like its rec basketball is a cardinal sin that cannot be forgiven.
SportsRe: The NBA Begins by Thanos(m): 7:14am On Jul 31, 2021
With all the acclaimed black man power, ordinary rebound we cannot even get. See this overpaid athletes cannot even make a corner 3. 7 minutes in to make 1 basket. I see why that yeye coach would never again get another nba job.

Thank God I did not even waste anytime watching this pathetic excuse of a team. Make I go find my Slovenian Jersey against tomorrow. I mean this is pathetic in every sense of the word. They should not even make it to the knockout stages as they'll be embarrassed beyond their wildest dreams. Amateur fouls absurd turnovers. You've not made a basket in 4 possessions, does your brain not tell you to find a way to get to the free throws line? I mean come on na. Haba!!!

In reference to this post. I must say I am happy with the level of intelligent discourse gradually returning on this forum. There might be hope after all. To touch on the topic from the OP. Here is my humble submission...

I’ve managed to read the entire back and forth on this thread and I would say this. I understand completely the perspective from which the OP based his argument.

--Men claim (or are/depending on what side of the argument you are on) stronger, smarter, inherently intelligent than the women hence that means more responsibility is on the men to lead, as all the qualities listed above are what you expect from a leader at a bare minimum.

--Every recorded civilization right from the beginning (depending on either the religious or scientific origins) has always being built majorly by men. It is a constant throughout history and I hope no one is arguing that.

--Hence, it can be inferred that if all the praise and success attached with building a functioning and sustaining civilization goes to the men, the same men should be held accountable for places where civilization failed (yes, I know I am oversimplifying but you get the point).

Now I won’t even try to engage any woman in this conversation because if I am a man, who claims to be the head and the superior gender, I am not trying to reason with a woman; I am superior. I let her do as I please. When she thinks she’s arguing with me, it’s basically me letting her talk. When she thinks she advancing at a rapid rate, it is simply me stepping back and letting her bask in the spotlight. Lol. Women supporting this post really don’t see the undercurrent of misogyny their third-wave feminism is barely trying to contend with.
Now, back to the example, he made concerning prostitution. Let me see if I can elaborate on it further.

Prostitution is as old as time. It has been here before us and it would be here far after we are all gone. The question is why is it in even successful first world countries; it is still rampant. Ladies and gentle, I present to you the economics of demand and supply. It is really not a matter of morality. It is just a matter of market economics. Demand determines the market and as long as there are men who are willing to pay for the service, there would always be women who are ready to offer it. It is really that simple. That is why at the end of the day, the responsibility still falls on men.

Now there is this misconception that women are the custodians of sex and all that. That cannot be farther from the truth. Men are the custodians of sex. On an average, I’ll take my chances and say that at least most men can sleep with 80% of the world's women if they wanted to (with or without consent) because we are the stronger sex (for the number crunchers who are going to ask me for statistical proof, you are getting no response from me). The keyword being if.

Women seem to forget, that they can go around and do as they please is because some men have banded together and deem it a crime to abuse and harass them for their pleasure. Not because of their intelligence, smartness or strength. If all rules were to be broken and we descended into anarchy, it is the women that would suffer the most. Go to IDP camps and see what women are going through in a microcosm of a pseudo-lawless environment to survive. Men can do as they please if they want to. I know this sounds uncomfortable, but we need to get our heads out of this fantasy land where we think the world is fair and all men and women are equal. It is the delusion that has seeped into society and is threatening to destroy the very fabric of our civilization. The west for those who are informed can tell are already on that path.

I can argue the merits and demerits of third-wave feminism in another thread but the end would always be a lose-lose situation for both men and women. How many women can single-handedly pin down an average man and force him to have sex with her? I mean, the OG man that experienced the first recorded case of attempted rape was able to escape conveniently. (I am talking about Joseph in the bible). It does not take a rocket scientist to know that number would be in the sub 40% percentile of the world’s female population.

My point is, when you think about it critically, while you might not entirely agree with all the OP’s points, his perspective is valid and his logic is sound. Now I am not saying that Nigeria’s problem would be solved by having a woman lead because the issues that plague this country is like the mythical hydra. Unfortunately, this one comes with 100 heads. But if we as men continue to throw around the “superior gender card”, in the face of women, then that superiority should translate in every other facet of our lives including nation-building. If not, then we also should be taking a majority share of the blame in a failed society, as if we trace for the root cause. More often than not, it always starts and ends with men.

So, to buttress the OP’s point. Yes, Nigerian men have failed Nigerian women, or to put it better, Nigerian men have failed Nigeria. I bet if the OP used the latter as the post’s topic, he would probably not get as much traction. But some boys can’t help themselves. Once they hear anything that remotely tries to favour women, they get their panties in a bunch.

I come in peace.

Jman06:
Some early men in their ignorance simply failed to utilize the intelligence and smartness embedded in the female gender. Yet, records still have some great women who made great inventions; the likes of Marrie Currie, who discovered radioactivity. In the political sphere, women like queen Amina and the Ghanaian queen who led the battle against the whites( ie the battle of the golden stool) also existed.
There are always going to be exceptions to the rules. The people you are calling are outliers. For every 1 Currie, there are thousands of male scientist that made discoveries that have shaped our society and the way we live. For every queen Amina, there are hundreds of kings that have continuously built on the foundations of their fathers, evolved to what we have today as the various systems of government. So your point still validates what i'm saying. Quantity or quality wise, men have always exceeded women in the intelligence department.

Whoever told you that men are more intelligent than women is either ignorant or lying to you.
Depends on your definition and measure of intelligence. I really do not want to go into the nitty gritty of this topic. But in reference to nation building, you can go and look up the major inventions, discoveries, and organizations that run the world and tell me how many women are behind them. Intelligence is not by doing e=mc2 alone. There are a lot of angles to it and i'd like to think from existing facts on ground, men have proven to be superior in that area. My opinion.

at statement alone, cemented my assumption that you didn't think any of this through and that you haven't got your all facts on-hand.

As a matter of fact, the only three groups of people that will read though this thread and agree that it is because Nigerian men have failed women, then this is the reason why women indulge in prostitution, are:

1. The prostitutes themselves who hate that they have previously been/presently are prostitutes, but just can't help it... For them, it's easier to pass the blame for their poor life choices than accept that they are lacking creativity.

2. Modern feminists who already by default are not the brightest of humans... Because as far as they're concerned, anything that is wrong with the world is because of men. Women are angels/saints.

3. People who assume that when a person writes long articles in very good English, then he/she must be making sense.

My brother you seem surprised...
No one looks down on 'other' women than women themselves, you can bet your cojonés on that. cheesy

These people will never understand what sex is to men, I don't even bother trying to explain it. It's like teaching quantum physics to elementary school kids.

A man who slows down his V8 SUV to talk to the fruit seller on a street corner and get her number, is a dirty pig to "classy" women.
The men who go straight from work to hangout a little while with hookers at a secret local bar, are rabid dogs to "hip" women.

As if there's a difference between rich woman vagína and poor woman vagína...

This concept of assigning social classes to vagínas only exists in the minds of women, never in men.
They would rather jam their heads on asphalt than admit the above of course.
Bro, I really wish I could like this comment a thousand times. Like someone mentioned, the battle for men (yes its a battle) to control their urges is far beyond what the female specie can comprehend. Especially if you fall into the category of men that were exposed to sex as a youth. Everyday you have to make a conscious decision to not be attracted to any female either because of the fear of God or the respect for your partner. Mind you, I said respect, not love. Because if you think its love that stops men from cheating, you could ot be farther from the truth.
How many great men have fallen victim to sexual sin? Even our role models in the bible are not spared. The thing is as a man, it is only when you have fully accepted christ and become baptised of the Holy spirit that you have a chance. Because even with all that anointing, if you by mistake find yourself in a compromising position that seems completely innocent, my brother. You will fall. Not to talk of a man having the deadly combination of money and power, you'll have to spend the rest of your days praying and running. Because that is the only way to overcome sexual sin. Fleeing and praying. So men, don't bother engaging those women up there, they would never understand. Pray to God continously to give you the grace. And remember to always flee!

I remember during the regular season and some games into the post season, I said I don’t trust the Jazz on this thread irrespective of their injury situation and that is because of how they play.

The Jazz shoot way too many 3’s and last night, they met a team that caught fire from the 3 also. They play way too many ISO ball with Donovan who, don’t get me wrong is a good player but can get carried away.

You rarely see P&R between Donovan and Gobert, Infact, it doesn’t exist. The set up for the Jazz is simple and that is why they have wings like Ingles/Bogdanovic. Donovan is basically either running to the bucket to get a shot, playing ISO or kicking it out to those two.

Gobert was a sorry sight and no fault of his but it was wrong to expect Gobert to cover the perimeter throughout the post season.

Q. Snyder could easily have gone to the small ball by removing Gobert when the Clippers were starting to cook from downtown but no, he stuck to it and that is the reason they are out.

Also, Gobert had 0 blocked shots and had 3 fouls I think.. That tells you he should have been out because the game was being played outside his strength during the charge.
I really want to see how tye lue's small ball will hold up against top tier nba centers like Embid/giannis. You know, this is one of the consequences of the three-ball. When the shots are falling and it seems you can't miss, it is always a sight to behold. Then you enter a cold stretch and all of a sudden, you've forgotten how to run plays and schemes. With mavs, the clippers got away because my supposed centre was being out rebounded by frigging campazzo in the first round. With Utah, i would not understand for the life of me, when clippers went to small ball, why snyder did not just say, "okay guys, i want you to just keep feeding Gobert with lobs and running PnR for him? The amount of corner threes that Mann and the clippers overall made was what killed this game, and the blame falls solely on snyders lap. The mavs could have complained that they lacked the personnel and we over achieved by taking them to 7 games. The jazz? Not so much. To think Kahwi did not even play the final 2 games of the series just shows how much of a monumental choke job this was from the jazz. This off season is setting up to be one for the ages.

So let’s talk about Ja and Zion.

Both players are in their 2nd year in the NBA with Zion being the more talented with a higher ceiling but Ja has made the better adjustment to the league, has the longevity and is enjoying massive experience from these playoff games than Zion.

My problem with Zion is this.. Zion is getting comfortable with the way his career and play time is being handled by the Pelicans. Last season, Alvin Gentry/ Pelicans did not do the kid any favors by being overtly protective during his rookie season. While I do understand he was injured but when he returned he could have done and played more. This season also, they chose to stop their playoffs pursuit by shutting Zion down over a ridiculous pinky injury. The Pelicans could easily have finished 10th ahead of the Spurs in the West and participated in the Play in tournament but they shut everything down.

In stark comparison, Ja pushed his team to the bubble last season and watching him play this post season, you could not tell this is his first NBA playoffs season and yesterday was only his 2nd game. The Grizzlies could easily have shut down Ja and tanked the rest of the season but obviously Ja was not having any of that. Let me be very clear, the Pelicans have a deeper and better roster than the Grizzlies and had no business tanking the rest of the season. The Spurs should have been the ones doing that.

The Pelicans don’t seem to have learned anything from their past experiences with high draft picks. One would expect that they would have learned something from the CP3/AD situation. They will be the biggest losers if after everything, Zion does not resign and decides to move on from the Pelicans and probably end up with the Knicks (MSG) an arena he adores.

I want to see Zion take more control of the trajectory his career because he does not have the longevity that Ja has because of recurring injuries associated with his size. He has to become more vocal with management about his playing time. He also has to spend a lot of time during the summer to workout and get his body in good shape before the season restarts in October. The sooner he gets the ground rolling, the better for him. He will be entering his 3rd season next year, time flies and waits for no one. He is the more talented player amongst both with the ability to dominate games offensively.
Many people are not ready for this conversation. If there is any player that should imbibe a win now mentality, it is Zion. History has not been kind to players of his size and stature. They have seasons of unmatched dominance , followed immediately by a steep decline. And now that early in his career he is already battling with niggling injuries, it has placed every organization that has an interest in him on amber alert. You need to win now while he is still healthy. Maybe am wrong, maybe Zion develops a jump shot that can extend his play longevity well into his 30's, maybe the injury gods smile on him and his ankles/acl don't get the Blake Griffin treatment. But that in itself is a lot of maybes. I am happy for once that the league did not mess up by giving him Rookie of the Year last season. Availability will always trump talent as far as I'm concerned and that is shaping up to be an area where Ja would always trump him. My advice to the pelicans, get a coach who would actually find away to get the best out of him while minimizing his exertion on the floor. Sit Ingram down and make him understand that this is zion's team now and either he gets in line or he gets his ass traded. Unleash Zo' and let him do his thing. He has always been a pass first PG now he has two legitimate scoring threat to feed, stop trying to make him a 3nD player and let him play his game.

I was thing about that myself, he is in my top 5 at the moment although I will understand if someone else puts him at 6-8. One thing is for sure he is the best player on the floor in this first round match up
My number 1 quality for a top 5 nba player is availability. I don't care how talented you are. If you cannot suit up to play, keep your talents abeg. Based on that alone, that eliminated alot of pretenders from the top 5.

You could be right. Nets are balling right now, but its against the celtics that typically get outcoached come playoffs. We dont know how they will fare vs Bucks or 76ers. Nets havent seen adversity this playoffs, so its hard to tell.

Lakers look like old men trying to force the game. It worked for them last game, but even if they somehow beat the suns, what will they do vs Mavs or Jazz? The bright spots are Drummond putting up Detroit Drummond type numbers and AD waking up
As much as I hate to see players injured, lakers are one AD injury away from being dumped in the second round. The physical advantage they lost this summer has been highlighted but what would really determine how far they'll go is their durability. As for the nets, I still stand by my word once they encounter a team that can shoot the lights out and play lock down d, they'll begin to unravel. And they have two of those teams lining up opposite them
