Car Talk / Re: 1zz J20f Engine by theadeola(m): 11:04pm On May 28, 2023
Thank you boss. I noticed that it definitely has more HP as it runs way better with ac than my previous engine did without ac.

nurey:
It's a JDM engine so definently from Asia not America.

It should be a strong engine and may have more hp than the 1zzfe.

Goodluck

Car Talk / 1zz J20f Engine by theadeola(m): 4:12pm On May 28, 2023
Hello house.

I changed my car's engine recently, and I found out that the engine is a 1zz j20f engine. I've searched on Google for the engine HP and general specs about it, as I want to estimate the amount of miles on it.

Anyone with an idea of where these engines come from and how good they are?

Thank you for all the recommendations.

Car Talk / Re: Is It Feasible? by theadeola(m): 10:41pm On May 21, 2023
OP, first, KPI means key performance index. Basically, the targets you must meet per week.

Before I go into the mathematics, let me say that add 4 years to your age now. Do you want to keep doing this that long? The company is telling you to be driving every week for 45hrs. That's 5 hours more than a normal 40 hour workweek. What if you get sick? What if you have a personal/family emergency? How will you meet up?

I also hope you know that if you default in delivery, the car will be taken from you and all you've paid up till that point will be forfeit?

Now for the mathematics;

The cars you mentioned, last last their price is not more than 4m.

So, 56800 weekly for two months runs into 454,400. Plus 113000 initial deposit takes you to 567,400.

Now, 45k weekly for 4 years means 8,640,000.

Add this to the figure above, and you have a grand total of 9,207,400.

Oh my God. If you take this deal, you're signing up for auto slavery. You'll be paying 9.2m for a car of 4m, more than double the price of the car.

Will the car remain the same over 4 years? No wear and tear? No occasional run-in with the law? No fueling? No maintenance? Hmm.

OP, I don't know you o, but if you were to be my friend or my brother, I'd tell you the same thing; this is a weapon fashioned against you, and if you decide to allow it, it will prosper and fast-forward you into poverty.

You have a job currently. Focus on that and maybe put money together to learn a high paying skill, so you can give yourself a better prospect than considering willfully signing away 4 years of your life for some auto company that will be having a laugh at your expense.

A word, they say, is enough for the wise. Or in this case, a lot of words.

GAZZUZZ:

Perish the idea.

Engines are maintained by individuals, not the country of import.

Okay, but I was told the direct Japan engines are usually better than the American ones.

Is that a lie too, as the direct Japan is more expensive
Autos / Re: That First Service. by theadeola(m): 9:35am On May 21, 2023
Is this the same for direct Japan engines?

GAZZUZZ:
Part 7.

New car owners are faced daily with similar scenarios.

Let's start with engine oil changes .

Not every Foreign used car ran on synthetic engine oil before being imported into the country.

Corrolas, kias, Hondas and most vehicles in the 1L-2.0L engine size are mostly driven by foreigners on a very tight budget (students , factory workers, Nigerians and Asians that relocated to the abroad) the hard truth , they do not use premium oil. they stretch their oil changes and the only thing they do is possibly follow oil weight recommendations e.g 5w30 mineral oil , 5w20 mineral oil etc.

You will mostly likely find premium maintenance on luxury vehicles like the BMW, range rovers , mercerdes , high end Lexus vehicles etc and etc. The tax alone for driving vehicles with that many horses can only be comfortably paid by owners who are not on a tight budget .

What happens when an engine that has been on stretched mineral oil changes , switching to full synthetic is usually catastrophic.

Oil leaks, smoking, and oil burn. In rare cases, a buildup of sludge collects in the oil pump strainer, starving the oil pump of required flow of oil, results usually engine knocking .

Summary for engine oil.

Before you change your oil use this simple trick to help you know what the previous user was using .

Open or peep into the valve cover so you can see the internal parts of the engine .

Original engine colour = full synthetic used.

A coat of brown or gold = mineral or semi synthetic used

Black = an abused engine

Hello house.

A friend's 03 Corolla overheated some days ago, but top gasket didn't get burnt (mech checked by putting water and it didn't bubble up and all). The radiator was leaking water small around the draining plug. Radiator fan went off and caused it.

But now he has to top water in the radiator every two days. Not much, but he's concerned his engine is bad or something, and I don't know anything about it.

Pls help. Car moves fine like nothing happened.

Drivers licence
Car papers
Fire extinguisher
Medical report (if tinted)
Spare tire
C-caution (red triangular reflective metal)

These things are not only for police. Also for frsc, etc.

why do I have a feeling this car is not using the appropriate ECU?

Actually, the mechanic that changed the transmission told me the ecu is bad, and that it needs to be changed.

Also, what do you mean by not using appropriate ecu? The ecu in it is the same one I bought it with. Or my ecu has been swapped?

Is it possible that the 1zz is more expensive because of demand?
clinician2x:
Too expensive. I replaced my 1mz fe for lexus es 300 with 450k everything.
Car Talk / Re: Direct Japan Engine Bill by theadeola(m): 5:15pm On May 08, 2023
Hmmm. I will confirm if the engine comes with those things. Thank you.

nurey:
Buy Honda, una go say no, nah toyota reliable pass grin las las una go dey change engine like children diapers.

The Bill may not be too exorbitant as complete engine comes with other standard accessories like compressor, alternator, starter etc. If the link is genuine then you will enjoy that japanese engine, you can now sell the extra parts to gain back ur initial capital.
Car Talk / Direct Japan Engine Bill by theadeola(m): 11:30am On May 08, 2023
Hi guys.

I've been working on my 2003 Toyota matrix for a while now, replacing defective parts and restoring the car to being as close as manufacturer specs as possible.

Here's the background for it;

https://www.nairaland.com/7638400/bought-lemon-now-want-use

I've replaced the gear already, working perfectly too. Now, the next thing is the engine. I asked the person who replaced my gear for a quote for a direct Japan 1zz Fe engine, and here's the quote he gave me;

Estimate for engine replacement:
Complete Engine 600,000
Engine Oil 5w30 23,000
Oil filter 2,000
Silencer Packings 5,000
Miscellaneous 7,000
Service charge 40,000
Total 677,000

I don't know if the quote is fine or not, especially with the engine price. Yes, he replaced my gear with a direct Japan gear, but I'm just thinking if the engine price isn't too much.

Please I need your views.

Thank you.

Now, it's the engine that is giving me issues. I intend changing it in any case, but due to the cost, it's not something I can do immediately.

So I need the engine in good working condition for just under 3 weeks.

Brudda apparently didn't get the memo.

First, the last cylinder went dead. Found out it was a wiring issue, and it was fixed.

Now, first cylinder is also dead, and car's acceleration is basically shit.

He's not a Nairaland member but he's very good at what he does

His workshop is located around samonda area of Ibadan

If you are interested do let me know so I post his contact for you

Hi bro.

I eventually took the car to autotel.

He's fixed up the gear and so far, no issues with the gear.

Your recommendation came in handy.

Update: I've reached out to gazzuzz, and he attended to me well. Only problem is that the total cost to get the engine and gear to Ibadan with gazzuzz will exhaust the budget I already made. And I'll still need to pay for the swap, fluids, spacers and some other things involved.

So as much as I really want to get the engine and gear from him, it doesn't look like I'll be able to afford to.

In looking for an alternative, I came across godwinchuka. He seems clean and legit, but I need to do my due diligence for obvious reasons.

So as part of that, please can anyone who's dealt with him before talk about him? I just want to be sure he sells good stuff before going ahead.

Nigerians abuse their vehicles heartlessly, nowadays a accidented vehicle from overseas is better than a so called sound naija used vehicle

Mine doesn't give me headache that much, but there were alot of red signs i found when I bought the car

Alot of check light on the dash board plus the previous owner was using the thick sae40 golden super oil on the car mixed 14, 15 and 16" tyres together, steering pump was faulty, actually it was both the rack and pump

Hub, break pads, danlick pans, alignment and balancing

These were minor problems, but I spent alot

Nigerians are not ready for good things from the auto world

grin what?

Omo you don try o. How was the person driving with 3 different tyre sizes?

And yes, an accidented vehicle is better than so called 'sound' naija used. The things I've seen eh, I can't describe.

I bought a naija used vehicle too though it is not a lemon, I'll never make that decision again

If i don't have cash for Toks, I'll rather rest 😎 cool

Honestly. Naija used is rarely worth the stress.

When I got the car, the previous owner was using 20W50 to service it. He'd also cut off the gear cooler lines to the radiator because the radiator was leaking. So instead of fixing the leak (which I eventually fixed for around 6k) he preferred to cut off the lines and risk the gear overheating. angry

I'd have gone for toks now, but priorities, priorities.

But by the grace of God, my next car is definitely toks. Either shipped or gotten from a reputable dealer.
