Spending what is equal to the per capita income of almost half of Nigeria (at least a million dollars as reported) on *GOOD* PERSONAL SECURITY, (dare I say a security that's not even threatened) when the vast majority of the state and nation remains under-developed is plain senseless and unjustified. Sometimes, God does work that way if the oppression of the common gets too much u can check history. There's no definitive cap on what God can or cannot do to right wrongs and u'll do well to note this for future purposes before commenting on God like u're a consultant. |

My luv!:NCCA/NCAA? Oh well, my mistake. And like I said earlier, u're entirely missing the point, This is NOT about me or my knowledge of NCAA, or indeed my relationship with Mr. Demuren. This is a simple matter of failure in corporate governance and breach of basic HSE principles and I don't have to be a consultant to NCAA for my common sense to deduce if there has been a breach or not. Attacking my credibility based on the correct (or in this case incorrect) name of the parastatal is off track and typing the incorrect abbreviation of the name doesn't in any way prove the submission of an ethical breach wrong. Nor does it in any way constitute irrefutable proof of lack of knowledge of the organization (Note: knowledge that's not even needed to pass an informed opinion on a simple matter as basic precaution) Do I have to know all about Julius Berger to be able to tell that if they don't take strict steps to ensure all workers and visitors in their yards are aPproproately kitted safely according to standards, then they are liable if an accident happens in said yard as a result of this breach? Well now, it's up to Mr. Demuren to challenge the termination in a competent court and explain why he's not liable for the administrative lapses that allowed an aircraft with documented engine trouble take-off from an airport where NCAA has oversight function of preventing exactly things like this. My luv!:You are entirely missing the point. This' not about his records or qualification, it's a question of did he do anything wrong this time or not? Accidents happen? Yes they do. Even when all necessary precautions were taken? Of course, That's what qualifies them as *accidents* What if the basic precautions taken were less than 100%? Then they become avoidable disasters that could have easily been prevented. Consider a doctor who has been performing successful brain surgery for years, the very first day he endangers a patient by operating with his bare hands not covered by surgical gloves and in the process complicates the patient's condition thereby leading to his death, IT IS THAT SAME DAY he'll face the medical board for malfeasance and explain why he should retain his license. Never mind his sterling track record. And in the same vein the CMD of the facility too is liable for administrative negligence if it appears from the evidence on ground that there was no system in place to check against this fundamental breach of professional ethics (and from all appearances in the DANA crash, it does appear that way). The onus is on Demuren now to prove he did have a working system in place to check against the type of breach in safety rules that led to DANA crash and the airline+pilot with their actions expressly breached all due process and misled officials in a way that increased vigilance would not have mattered. See when you work with human lives, it's as much an enviable career as well as risky. You have to stay sharp at all times such that if accidents happen, it won't be as a result of what you could have done and didn't do or what u weren't supposed to do and u did. |

This is simple deductive reasoning. Was he head of NCCA? Yes Is NCCA responsible for regulating airline operations? Yes Was there a breach of regulations that led to the DANA crash? Yes, SEVERAL! Was any appropriate step taken to correct said breach and avert disaster? NO, unfortunately. Is he culpable for the brazen breach in regulations that occurred under his watch? VERY! There you have it, that's common sense and objectivity for you. Anything less than that is partisan. Sacking him is actually a good way of reducing the culpability and liability of the govt. in a lawsuit. 1 Like |

I don't know the man, but based on the utter waste of human lives occasioned by the irresponsibility of his administration in the Dana crash, any decision made as a fall-out can be justified, never mind that ppl claim he's been outstanding up till then. That's my stand. He may be a good man, but at that level, you need to maintain a sterling degree of professionalism at all times. Did he? No. Did he know the risk? Yes. Did he have both legal and financial backing to have taken necessary steps to avoid that disaster ?Capital YES! What happened? He was criminally negligent! And professionally, he's lucky to be escaping with his freedom. If Nigeria were a country where the populace knew their rights and we had Lawyers who knew anything about Torts, FAAN, FG, NCCA and DANA would be deeply enmeshed in trouble now. 2 Likes |

Or it was a continuation of efforts of others who were like-minded. In conclusion, Does Mikel Obi's simple pass that led to a goal make him the best midfielder in Chelsea? No! Of course he may be good, but performing a routine function for which you are paid millions is nothing special. It's when u distinguish urself at it above your counterparts in other similarly endowed establishments that u can truly be called excellent. Not comparing Nigerian aviation with Beninoise...... ZACHIE: Notable AchievementsSir, While your line of argument initially looks correct, logical reasoning points out that your conclusion that he's the best ever candidate for the job, based on the wrong assumption that the strength of his qualifications alone make him untouchable by all other candidates is faulty. Certs and books do not necessarily make a person the best option for a role. There are several other factors to consider and while our past DG may have possessed these in abundant quality, there might just be someone better out there. So if we should base our arguments on so and so awards, then OBJ (arguably the worst leader in Nigerian history) should have been left as life president so as not to upset the balance and he had loads of awards too. I mean he still chairs a lot of committees on Ecowas and AU boards. Or let's take Barcelona for example, they had an excellent coach in Rijkaard who just had a bad season and they ousted him for Guardiola because, the mgt saw that in the grand scheme of things, Pep was a better choice in the long-term than Rijkaard even though no one knew him then especially compared to Rijkaard's excellent credentials. The only problem/difficulty I see in this debacle is the assumption we'll have to make that GEJ and his team of incompetents who don't even know how to perform the most basic of functions actually has considered the long-term implication of leaving Demuren in office and decided it wasn't wise. These questions of tribalism and politicising of appointments would not have arisen if we had a credible administrator as a president! But then, the joke is on us; WE ELECTED HIM! Like I said before, two wrongs can NEVER make a right and dropping bombs on innocent civilian targets instead of targeting strategic military installations' unacceptable in any form! Honestly, I'm sorry if I offended you with my post but when u see facts like this you can't help but wonder at the "patriotism" of our acclaimed hero. Of course the events that led to the civil war were unfortunate and detestable but still, was it enough to take up arms and endager ur people in a war u surely could not win? I wonder if there had not been the oil factor if he would still have been as eager to "liberate" his people.... If he was truly concerned or angered by the imperialist and murderous nature of the pogrom, why not pursue the perpetrators in a better manner. Surely for a military strategist, there are several ways of exacting such rather than the option of outright war against a military might u were ill-prepared to face? If indeed he was concerned with just liberating his people, why greedily grab to seize power by marching on the neutral west and forcing Awolowo to rally Yorubas behind Hausa leadership? These are questions you should ask before thinking "who is this idiot abusing my kinsman?" (Cos he's undoubtedly that). It's high time we stopped rallying behind despicable characters just because they yell "Ndigbo Ohaneze" and we feel it's better a useless tribesman who may develop our areas than a useful person whose policies may not benefit us. History is indeed interesting! The more I read on the charlatan Ojukwu, the more my contempt for him grows. A myopic bigot fueled by pure greed and self-service, enabled by a rich, pathetic father who thought Oxford education (and later Sandhurst) could refine a mindless thug. Planned an ill-conceived conquest of the nation, directly responsible for bombings of civilian targets, complicit in the summary execution without trial of allies who disagreed with him and the deaths of millions of his misguided kins men (mostly by starvation) who didn't know better than to follow his utopian ambition. This not even talking of his atrocious war crimes and targeted killings of non-igbo residents in Biafran strongholds....... Questions are: Why was this abominable looking creature never tried for crimes against humanity? Why was this Nigerian Hitler allowed 2 live out the rest of his life in d company of respectable Nigerians? I guess we may never find out, but one thing we've learnt from the dreadful mistakes of great men, (the biblical Abraham and in this case Sir Louis Ojukwu) is: STAY FAITHFUL, THAT BASTARD YOU FATHER MIGHT JUST BE THE NEXT HITLER!!
