What a useless pile of garbage. This is why I don't like this sourceless, baseless name Biafra. Nobody know the meaning of the nonsense name and you must know nothing or a big liar if you think anyone was calling themselves "Biafara" before 1967. I won't even address the Judeo-Christian nonsense because that can not be cured with an internet post. When the British first came to the Mohamedian Emirates of the North at present day Zamfara They asked one of the chiefs who those people were who lived across the river at the area where biafra is He (the chief) said In his words " they are the lost tribe of isreal" Documents are available to prove this |

Unlike him,he wasn't awake by 6am to prepare for work, his older brother went into his room and hit him hard on the buttocks saying 'nwokem, kunie je kwado olu' meaning my friend, wake up and prepare for work and walked out of the room. Thirty minutes later, his younger brother was still sleeping or so he thought then,he went into the room with a cup of water which he poured on his 'sleeping' brother's head but there was no movement! He raised an alarm, the neighbors rushed in,every effort to wake him up was abortive and that was when it dawned on them, that he was gone! He was only 26! Just Incase you think you are too young or too old to die.
Just like every other person,he made plans...go for his masters, get a better job, marry, raise a family and certainly, hoped to live and see his grand children. Wisefellow: The screening of the ministerial nominees by the Senate continued today and it was the turn of a nominee, Khadija Bukar Abba Ibrahim, to be grilled. Honestly, I was expecting the senators to interview and ask questions in relation to the office she held while serving Yobe people and how she can bring that to the national level for positive change we aspire, without minding she's the wife of a serving senator and three-time former Governor of Yobe state.
Instead, what I saw today has revealed that the senators are not ready for the genuine change. The senate president, Dr. Bukola Saraki, made the matter worse by calling her husband to ask her wife a question! The husband ought to have sideline himself and allow other people ask meaningful and developmental questions towards are appointment. "Would you be surprised if the house ask you to take a bow"... asked, the husband?
Seriously, was that a screening question by a serious senator? Does these people think Nigerians are fools? Do the senators take Nigeria affair as a paddy-paddy thing? I feel pained and disheartened by what the senators just did.
I expect seriousness on the part of service to our dear nation and this should reflect on every strata of our government and amongst Nigerians. The media houses should condemn what just happened and keep the senators and public officials on their toes. Please! mryoungdon: BACKGROUND The Eastern part of Nigeria is a made of predominantly Christian population whose way of life is different from their Northern Counterpart that are predominantly Muslims. These two groups of people existed on their own without the other part for thousands of years before the coming of the white men. There were amalgamated in 1914 by the then Governor of the Colonized Niger Area – Lord Frederick Luggard for the purpose of convenience of governance of the area. The amalgamation of the North and the South of the Niger-Area came into force and it was Flora Shaw that gave it the name Nigeria, coined from the word – NIGER + AREA.
After the flag independence of Nigeria in 1960, the crop of leaders that took over from the colonial masters in their effort to gain control of the Nation through undue influence gradually planted the seed of nepotism, hatred, and ethnic division among the worst of all, corruption that has continued to cripple Nigeria to date.
Over time, the notion that the Ibos were domineering people gradually degenerated into hatred that caused the massacre of the Easterners in the North in an effort to curb their presumed influence and abilities as they were the most educated and versatile of the people of Nigeria. The unending massacre resulting from greed and nepotism caused the then Governor of Eastern Nigeria – Cornel Odumegwu Ojukwu to declare a Republic of Biafra in 1967. The declaration brought a civil war when the Nigeria government under Gen.Yakubu Gowan tried to force the Biafrans back into Nigeria, The war lasted for 3years from 1967 to 1970 before the Biafrans surrendered as a result of starvation ochestrated by against Biafrans though total blocked of every rout that food may be brought into Biafra land. Over 1.5million children and women perished as a result of using hunger as a weapon of warfare for the first time in the world, introduced by Pa Awolowo, the first Nigerian Minister of finance and economy under a military head of state.
MANY YEARS LATER In order to appeal to the ego of the proud Biafrans, the war was declared no victor and no vanquished, but the actions that followed proved otherwise. The Biafrans to date lost all their property all over Nigeria, even in their homelands and they were subjected to undue treatment of receiving 20pound in exchange of any amount you must have saved in the bank before the war. It forced them to resign to fate and their only way out became to join one trade or the other and willing out their children as servants. But over the years, they succeeded and became the most popular businessmen in Nigeria.
TODAY As a result of the flight from Biafra land occasioned by lack of work and conducive livelihood on Biafra lands as a result of government policies which include making it impossible for Biafrans to run any company that can employ up to 100 workers, impossible to import their goods through their closest seaport some 10kilometers to them and instead have to import through Lagos about 800kilomiters away and paying through en-rout to the numerous Nigeria uniformed officials back to their land. These numerous ill treatment caused the rise of some opposition to Nigeria from this area. The first of its kind was from the Niger Delta area by Ken Saro Wiwa and his kinsmen from Ogoni, but they were all hanged by the Nigerian government under IBB, Then the Niger Delta boys went militancy to protest the oil spillage that was destroying their lands to date and the government of late Yaradua got wise and gave them amnesty. Other such groups are THE MEND, MASSOB and presently IPOB that is controlled by Nnamdi Kanu.
While the other groups seem to have come only to get money from the federal government, the IPOB has proved to be on a more serious mission to secede from Nigeria. Using Radio Broadcast and very advanced technology to reach the world without control from Nigeria, IPOB has managed to cause a serious nightmare to the Nigerian government.
Nigerian government seriously tried but failed to block the signal of the radio playing into Nigeria, mostly the Eastern part of Nigeria, they resorted to the only method associated with “Black People” force.
NNADI KANU Sets a trap, Nigeria falls headlong into it. “How could Nigerian Government be so insensitive to fail to decode that Nnamdi Kanu intentionally came down from United Kingdom to be arrested and they played into the trick? He is an educated man who calculates all his moves. Nigeria will never remain the same again after this arrest because this arrest has given more publicity to the Biafran cause than the Biafrans and even their leader Nnamdi Kanu would have dreamed. Now that Amnesty International has talked about it, New York Times and all the News Papers in Nigeria have carried it from the arrest to the bail. I think that is all Nnamdi Kanu needed to go to the next level of the struggles.

Achutebe: HAJJ TRAGEDY: Nigeria’s deafening Silence
I am a Nigerian. I am a Muslim. And I am angry…
Almost a month has elapsed since the calamitous stampede at the Hajj in Mecca and we are no closer to any concrete answers about what really happened. The Nigerian death toll in the incident is creeping alarmingly higher – 199 at the last count with a further 121 missing. That’s 320 people. Gone. Real people with hopes, aspirations, plans for the future. Sucked from them in a crushing matter of moments. Parents cruelly stolen from children. Husbands separated forever from their partners. It’s nauseating. My close friend in Kaduna lost his wife in the tragedy and no amount of words or religious counsel can replace her. He still wakes up each morning in mourning, an empty space beside him on the bed.
The Associated Press put the current toll at 2,121 (with well over 1,000 still ‘missing’), making it easily the worst tragedy in the Hajj’s history and the deadliest crowd crush disaster to have occurred in modern times. To add insult to injury, the Saudi Arabian government have refused to amend their initial statement that only 769 perished, despite the clear evidence from figures tallied by countries involved which tripled this.
However, for me, the worst part of this tragedy is not the huge number of fatalities. It’s not the images of Saudi officials bulldozing dead bodies into a heap to ‘clean up’ in the stampede aftermath. It’s not the brazen attempts for officials to trade blames – from African pilgrims refusing to obey instructions to Iran deliberately instigating the stampede to tarnish Saudi reputation. No. The worst tragedy here is the deafening silence of the countries affected.
Rather than raising a clarion call for justice for the victims, compensation for the bereaved families and an independent investigation into what really happened, it appears most countries have swept the incident under the rug. I can’t talk for other nations but let me stir the hornet’s nest a little in my own country Nigeria. The Nigerian response to this horrific incident smacks of the highest level of hypocrisy as it sadly appears Buhari and his cohorts have chosen to tread the cowardly path of apathy.
It’s true Nigeria’s Senate President Bukola Saraki is facing heat right now over his assets but did anyone not notice what he said when a Saudi delegation visited last week? “I think it’s not about who is at fault but how do we ensure that we improve,” he is quoted as saying. Yes, that was it from Nigeria’s number three citizen. No call for justice. No demand for the real figures to be released. No talk of recompense for affected families. No insistence on an independent enquiry to unravel the truth behind the tragedy. No assertion on the need for responsibility to be duly taken. Just some wrapped up political hogwash, concluded by a call for enhancement of the visa processing between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia for prospective pilgrims. Some families still don’t know the fate of their loved ones and Saraki is already planning for the next Hajj. Is the value and sanctity of human life so easily trodden upon?
My reason for using hypocrisy as a key word in describing Nigeria’s lukewarm response is born of comparing it to the last major tragedy of ‘religious’ proportions that befell our country. When T.B. Joshua’s church hostel ‘collapsed’ or ‘imploded’ (pending on which side of the story you believe), sending 115 Christian pilgrims to an early grave, the Nigerian government was quick to apportion blame on the church and implement a predetermined court case to ascertain those at guilt. Even when CCTV footage was released by Joshua with compelling evidence that a military aircraft was connected to the tragedy, Nigeria’s government refused all requests to reveal the identity and assignment of the strange plane which encircled the ill-fated building four times, nor its occupants.
On that singular point alone, why are Nigeria (and other countries for that matter) not insisting that Saudi Arabia make the CCTV footage of the collapse public – if truly they have no culpability or dirty hands? It is well known that an elaborate security camera network was set up several years ago capturing every detail of the entire stretch of the Hajj journey. Perhaps the truth lies within those records – just as TB Joshua’s CCTV footage revealed the truth behind the uncanny nature of the buildings falling.
My point here is that the government deliberately tried to frame and blame Joshua for The Synagogue incident (without any pertinent consideration for the possibility of sabotage), making their nonchalance and refusal to question the Saudi officials all the more irritating. Perhaps they feel they can pick on someone like Joshua because he’s an individual and has no palpable political clout, as opposed to the oil-rich Saudi officials.
Any impartial observer will scream at the arrogance and callousness of the Saudi response to the tragedy yet it appears it’s still ‘business as usual’ in Mecca. The Hajj will continue and it’s likely no changes ‘in the system’ will result. When will Nigeria genuinely stand up for what is right and champion the cause of justice – irrespective of the religious, political or ethnic implications? I pray to Allah that my eyes would behold such a day.

'Note: Nnamdi's biafra is totally different from the kind of Biafra the late Col. Ojukwu wanted.'
Oh my God!!! What are these vagabonds trying to achieve? They wanna turn sons and fathers, husband and wife, friends against each other all in the name of Biafra? Late Col. Ojukwu neva wanted this. My cousins Ayodeji and Adeniyi married from the east and are blessed with beautiful children. My uncle, èkwè ( a nickname) married Aunty Ngozi from Enugu state and are blessed with 3 boys and a girl. And you call Nigeria a Zoo?
I served in ebonyi state and I came home yesterday. You should have seen how my Landlord and his entire household were sad because I was leaving them. Onyebuchi (landlord's son) even packed enough oranges and bought groundnut for me and my friend. Blessing insisted that I must attend her wedding. And you still call this Nigeria a zoo?
Miracle wrote UNILORIN post UTME and she calls me all the time just to thank me. You should have seen how surprised and how lost Charles was when my friend and I called him that we were giving him our mattress and fan yesterday morning. (Charles and his family are good people. They gave us garri and yam like every 2 months). You still think this Nigeria a Zoo?
My friend and I asked Mama Chineye that sells akara at night to allow Orji, his son whom we coached for JAMB (he is waiting for his admission @ UNICAL) come spend some weeks with us in the 'west'. You still call this Nigeria a zoo?
You should have seen my students at Boys Sec. School, and Anglican Cathedral International School (both in 135, Ezzamgbo, Ebonyi state) last week, i've got like a thousand pictures of them on my phone. Onyinyechi, a female student in ss2c, called me yesterday morning that I should come to school because she was having a problem in a mathematics question (of course, she doesn't want me to leave them). Do you still think this Nigeria is a Zoo?
Now some bastard Nnamdi with his 'transmission' on some radio biafra wants to destroy this love, trust, respect they have for some guy who isn't from their tribe? They see me as a role model because I taught them Maths, Physics, chemistry, and they initially thought only a super being could do that, but now they are very bold and courageous and they have that confidence they can compete with other students in Nigeria (though ebonyi is totally backward and dysfunctional education-wise).
This is not a good feat in Nnamdi's eye and he wants these children with very glorious futures ahead of them to start killing people who are not from their tribes, all in the name of secession and his own vain glory. I would say this is not the kind of Biafra ojukwu wanted.
At this juncture, i'd say we should forgive our past and let our wounds heal properly. We must join hands to improve our lives and generation to come. Biafrans want their nation restored This has nothing to do with your traveling experienced You are not a biafran so you should not bother yourself They want their nation And they will have it Their mind is madeup already No going back |

Today's premise, not so much because when you look at the basis, it is more emotional than logical. There are certain steps that should have been taken before blowing hot air on radio stations. I find it queer that a group of people can wake up one morning to speak on behalf of Igbo people and go on a Biafra tirade. That is the most anti-Igbo thing I've ever seen for people that pose to be democratic in nature. Where was this consensus made? Was there an Igbo conference for an Nnamdi Kanu to rise up to start ranting on behalf of Igbo people? Also why can't the fight for secession be devoid of ethnic bigotry? Why the tribal stench of bigotry? You kill your arguments when you allow such emotional outbursts to get the better of you. More and more emotions than logic, and only an illiterate would feed into the ideology an Nnamdi Kanu is proposing. It is very important to note that Africa is blessed with a population of the mentally underdeveloped that seek out leaders who champion ideologies on the primitive fundamentals of ethnic bigotry. And when you incite the illiterate population (that their problem is as a result of a certain group), you see a Hutu/Tutsi event unravel in your hands. So every intellectual Igbo is wary when certain persons propose a secession.
Do I believe the federal government instituted policies to frustrate the Igbo after the war? Absolutely. Do I believe Biafra-Nnamdi Kanu's approach is the answer? Absolutely not. Does this mean I love Nigeria? Absolutely not.
But you have to do a risk assessment, and an Nnamdi Kanu and other agitators of war pose a greater risk to the Igbo people than Nigeria itself. IMHO Any igbo person that does not support the current Biafran struggle is a fool |
