raumdeuter: Look at Europe that do not share a border with a cartel run country like the US. Check the safest countries in Europe and check their laws on gun ownership you will realize most of them allow gun ownership and they are still safe There are only three countries in the world with constitutional gun rights... US, Mexico and Guatemala. The US and Mexico are in the top three for gun-related deaths, and per-capita Guatemala is number three. These countries in Europe where people can get guns, it's not a right, there's very serious licensing and background checks required before they can get guns... And it's usually for specific purposes (hunting, sports shooting and work-related purposes, almost never for self-defense). Can the Nigerian government pass its citizens through this level of rigour before they grant people gun licenses, or any crase person fit enter shop buy gun like gala? Countries with way less resources than Nigeria are able to provide policing and basic security, it's not as hard to hack as you're making it look, especially when the government is serious about it. |

BlueRayDick: Talking about Nigerian healthcare system, only God will save the common man from misdiagnosis and inadequate healthcare facility.
I have a relative who has been battling ulcer and spike in Sugar level for the past 4 to 5 years. She was advised on what to eat and what not to eat in order to manage her health condition while she was also placed on some drugs.
So, she relocated to the US last year December and after she got there, she still had reasons to be in and out of the hospital. A couple of months ago the doctors in the US made her undergo CT scan and they were surprised she never had ulcer which she has been treating from Nigeria.
The CT scan revealed she has Cyst in her pancreas and that all the symptoms she's been having that made Nigerian doctors diagnose ulcer was actually as a result of the cyst in her pancreas. When I heard this last night, I was really scared. I wonder how many people would've died from such misdiagnosis in this country.
@ Afrodoc , kingtom and other medical personnel in the house, is there anything one can do in this Nigeria to avoid such misdiagnosis that may put one's health in jeopardy? Wow...no surprises sha. Na God dey help person for this country. |

Roland17: Ori bibe ko loogun ori fifo
We obviously have a policing issue that needs to be addressed. We have the resources to address the deficit in officers and weapons. We need to totally revamp our security systems/ structure. This restructuring can be done in phases. Arming citizens is not going to work. Exactly, giving citizens guns would create its own problems, in avoiding a problem that most countries of the world have sorted, we shouldn't end up creating another that'd be even harder to manage. |

raumdeuter: What we are seeing in Nigeria is already chaos especially in the North and middle belt but the only thing is that the criminals have unrestricted access I will even say Govt approved ammunition but the civilians are the ones disarmed. (Like Xmas chicken waiting for their turn)
Bandits will come to a village, spend 3hours killing and march almost 300 people into the bush unchallenged
The criminals currently have a monopoly of arms and decide where to attack. If bandit do a broadcast and say we are going to this village tomorrow and give them a pre warning, there is nothing they can do but to wait for their fate
The only way you escape harm is if the criminals become born again or have mercy on you. Like the bandits in Eruku that heard the sweet voice of Bayo Onanuga and released their victims
Waiting for police is a waste of time. cos the attacks are happening in like 100 places concurrently Assuming we were in the pre-APC years of relative safety, or more conservatively, the OBJ years, would you still be pushing for everyone to have their guns? Especially knowing that the situation in the US is an exception, and not the norm... |

When Gumi says Bandits are different from IPOB, he's right. Bandits are also quite different from Boko Haram, ISWAP, ANSARU and the likes, because while IPOB, Boko Haram, ISWAP and the likes operate with some form of ideology, bandits are in it solely for financial gains.
The designation of criminal elements with monikers has become a way for the police to avoid the job of resolving simple acts of crime. Normal criminals that are kidnapping and robbing people, they'd give them one special name...Bandits or Unknown Gun Men to make it look bigger than it actually is and eventually it does.
This is the same reason why all sort of criminals in the South East get easy pass for crimes hiding under IPOB (there's been instances where they've denied involvement in the crimes of kidnapping and robbery in the South East). So while members from IPOB might also be committing crimes, there's also several persons that commit crimes on their own, but it gets attributed to IPOB...intelligence gathering is a huge part of the fight against crime, and it's clear that there's very little intelligence involved in Nigeria's approach to crime. |

monerozi5590: He doesn't have any goodness of heart. He might be benefiting, we might not know. This is a good case if FG can prove that and got him arrested but unfortunately FG are also negotiating with them. So FG are to be blamed Exactly, nature abhors a vacuum. The government has failed to provide security to people, they've also failed to handle kidnap cases, leaving victims to their fate...what's then left is for people like Gumi, leveraging his experience as ex-force and influence within the criminal underworld, to provide a strange solution to the kidnapping problem. With or without Gumi, as long as government fails to do their job of providing security, these bandits (kidnappers and murders) would still find a way to wreck havoc. |

If VIPs need security, they should employ private security...NSCDC was not setup to provide protection to VIPs. |

monerozi5590: The double standard. Is good you are calling out Gumi almost everyday for saying nonsense which I also believe he is saying nonsense. I don't take him serious.
But also called out the person you supported to become president for saying IPOB are not terrorists and FG should not use force.
Always balance your views. The other day you rushed here to post a news saying Igbo man's shop was taken away in the North because he is Igbo.
We didn't see you post anything when another Igbo man cried out in Lagos that his shop was the only one destroyed because he is Igbo.
The other day you said you don't really know what's happening in South South states like that Destroyy has a better understanding than you because he stays in the South South but you have more knowledge about North than me that stays in the North about Northern states. It's well known that Gumi acts as a middleman between the families of kidnap victims and the bandits...do you believe that Gumi benefits from the criminal acts of these bandits, or he's doing what he does simply out of the goodness of his heart? |

The only thing I think he could be charged with is collaboration with criminals, but he's already said he does what he does with "approval", so that's a closed door.
