Politics / Re: El-Rufai Orders Ministries, Departments To Accept Old, New Naira Denominations by Thegracefulness: 12:50pm On Feb 19, 2023
El-Rufai may argue that he has not done anything wrong. Especially if he’s claiming that he has legal authority. Remember, the Supreme Court delivered a ruling on this; mandating Nigerians to receive old currencies. Why’s there discordance between the Executive and the Judiciary? And who should you obey?

Well, let me explain. Remember, the strongest branch of government is the Legislative. By virtue of Supreme Court Act, Chapter 424, LFN 2004, the Supreme Court can make interim injunctions (equitable orders restraining a person from doing specified things in exceptional situations).

The judiciary has acted upon these powers bestowed upon it by virtue of The Act, and made pronouncements granting a motion-exparte. It’s left with the executive to implement this order, in line with the rulings of the court. Why are they brazenly challenging the so-called Apex Court?

However, don’t for a second imagine that I’m not enjoying Buhari circumventing the court to punish these political holduppers. But, it’s just that when rain falls and because you want water to wash clothes; you celebrate, the day you‘ll spread to dry, don’t cry for the sun to shine.

Politics / Re: Pictures Of Datti Baba-Ahmed At Obidient Million-Man-March In Abuja by Thegracefulness: 5:48pm On Feb 18, 2023
I’ve noticed something that calls my attention.

Is Seun Osewa, the owner of Nairaland, the same as the Seun Osewa of Twitter?

The Seun on Twitter positions himself as a tribalist or chronically ethnocentric individual, who has been fortuitously exposed to education. And sincerely, I’m trying to believe it is not the same person who curates the platform that places Nigeria and the events or occurrences to the world via this medium, Nairaland.

No wonder the adminstrators act in a way that betrays wonders as to if they’re favouring a particular candidate in this election.

If he is reading this, I’ll advise that you realise that as a public figure with a business that endures patronage from Nigerians; north and south, Christians and Muslims alike, it is safe, for you and for your business, to be non-partisan and be seen to be non-partisan. You should be apolitical or pretend to be. Whatever biases or preference you have, please, keep it to yourself and the confines of your private space.

Lastly, like it or not, Mr. Peter Obi’s time is now. It is an idea that has come to stay and nobody; Hausa, Igbo or Yorùbá can kill it.

New and better as we have seen in Anambra? Obi and his IPOB promoters online are only fooling themselves. Nigerians see through the ruse.

I’ve been reading all your comments on this thread. It is very sad that you write so coherently - evidencing a good level of education - yet, you spill this much vile. If an educated person like you could hold such cold, false, reprehensible views about this man who has committed absolutely no crime except from dare dream to become the president of his country, how much more an uneducated villager in whatever village you’re from?

I don’t want to know your tribe. I don’t care for that. It is just incredibly sad that this is what Nigeria has been reduced to.

For your sake, I hope you do not have this hate in real life, but then again, how could I dare hope for such a thing, when it is said that as a man thinketh so it is in his heart? Sigh.

God help you, my brother.

Politics / Re: Emefiele: We Will Not Succumb To Intimidation, Desperation Of Hirelings - DSS by Thegracefulness: 10:04pm On Dec 19, 2022
Let me try to explain this whole issue in ordinary and simple terms. You can form your decision on this.

It all began when Hon. Kazaure Gudaji claimed N89 trillion stamp duties was misappropriated and diverted by the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele.

However, Garba Shehu, the presidential spokesperson, debunked this Kazaure’s N89 trillion missing funds claim, and said that it was “ludicrous that a member of the parliament would claim to be secretary of an executive committee”.

If an executive committee has been appointed by the president, the spokesperson would be in the know. But now, the said spokesperson is denying the existence of any such committe.

Stay with me.

Or are they alleging that Buhari is not in control of his government? That he could make appointments and his actual spokesperson would claim he did not?

Hon. Kazaure claimed the committee was secretly constituted by President Muhammadu Buhari, with Adetola Adekoya and him as the chairman and secretary respectively.

He said the appointment came in a letter dated 8 August, and he asked Buhari to set up the committee that included the Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed, the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Yusuf Bichi, Mohammed Wakili, a retired commissioner of police and one Mr Okafor, a retired staffer of the National Intelligence Agency.

Whatever it is, I’m hoping there’s some form of decorum and the president himself gets to make a statement on this and puts and end to it. Because it’s becoming disgraceful.

The governor of the Central Bank of a country is being chased by the Department of State Security.
Do you know the implication of this?

There’s always a truth and a lie. I don’t know who exactly said this but it stays resounding in my head, “When you decide to fight corruption in Nigeria, corruption would fight you with all it has; armed tooth and nail”.

I wish Emefiele goodluck. I don’t especially like him as a person, maybe considering his political affiliations and his previous utterances, but there’s no denying that his latest policies are advancing the economy, and shaping things.

If he’s innocent of these charges, may he come out free.

When these men want to come together to steal, they forget about tribe or ethnic affiliations and steal ridiculous amount of monies.

From this story, AGF Malami and Ned Nwoko are working together to make sure they collect this money from the Federal Government that nobody has been able to hear word for the past months now.

At this point, nobody recognizes who is uncircumcised or who has a flat head. Together, they’re gunning for their loot, arms in arms.

Highly admirable.

You are correct. However, there is a word called "barbered" which is past tense of "barber". It is correct to say " he barbered my hair"

Barbered was not the word in contention. It was in fact, the word “barbed”.

You could reread it and see. Cheers.

Oga this is a presidential debate, tinubu is the candidate of the ruling party, why is he running from debate?

Why?

This is simply ridiculous.

Tufiakwa.

Nigerians, some of us are the worst hypocrites.

The same way Muhammadu Buhari was padded in 2015, intentionally brandished as the next best thing after slice bread, that is what would play out before our eyes in 2023.

They’ve began their games again. A certain aspirant is showing all the red flags, and they’re prodding you, insisting you ignore it.

The same way Muhammadu Buhari shied away from public eyes and citizenry confrontations, because he was afraid of exposing the buffoon he is, is the same way another of the candidate is deliberately shying away from the media and the same citizens he wants to govern.

Why! Ask yourselves why. You don’t think this man owes you explanations on how or what ways he would govern this country? You talk and they quickly mention antecedents - assuming but not conceding he has a good antecedent, you think anybody can govern a federal territory the same way they governed a state?

Nigerians, this is 2015 again before your very eyes.
Do not allow ethnicity, religion or political creed to shut you out of reason.
Wake up.
The hunger in the land is not selective of any of these: It’s no respecter of persons.

The people you’re hinging on may not see the appointments you’re expecting they’ll get in future for you to benefit from. Then you’ll be left like the rest of us. Then what?

WantsandMore:

"Barbed" Fam. We learn everyday.

Actually there’s nothing like “barbed”. You say “cut”. The verb is to cut one's hair.

“Barb” does not mean to have a haircut; it means to fit barbed wires (electric metal lines) on a fence. The verb used for cutting hair is “barber,” as in, “he barbers for a living”.

Politics / Re: Garba Shehu Tackles Daily Trust, Lists Buhari’s Achievements by Thegracefulness: 8:11am On Jul 12, 2022
Garba Shehu, how does foreign governments returning looted funds your boss and his ilk invested in foreign countries signify Buhari’s win against corruption?
Instead does it not show what efforts the foreign governments are putting into setting their own countries right?

If Buhari was winning against corruption in this country, it would reflect domestically. We’ll see it in the ratio of undeserving government appointments; we’ll see it in the influx of awarded contracts and overbloated expenses; we’ll see it in the transparent use of funds budgeted for Tradermoni and whatever other useless initiatives your principal came up with. We don’t need to hear of how much Buhari’s regime is winning against corruption.

If Buhari was winning the fight against corruption, it would be plain for the very ordinary man on the streets to see. There would not need be any need to convince us with your lies. I cannot be hungry and you’re forcing me to accept that I want to go and shit from over-feeding.

If Buhari was winning the fight against corruption, you would lose your jobs—along with the other loud mouthed shameless Adesina.

You would all become irrelevant, because then there would be nobody for you people to gaslight, and no need for you to peddle more lies to redeem Buhari’s lost image.

Remember that it was this same corruption that your principal used to topple over the previous democratically elected government. Nigeria was managing well under the “very corrupt government” of particularly Goodluck Jonathan, how has this country faired under your principal with all his integrity? Clowns.

Lovenorth:
Buhari has almost finished his term, let's focus our attention on Tinubu/shetima presidency. those that hate Muslim Muslim ticket should go and die, we are proud of Islam and we don't hate Christians, what matters is compitance

You would like North-North presidency after this one. Don’t worry. Tribes do not matter. It’s all about “compitance” and delivery.

Hello, Mr. Tony Elumelu.

My name is Professor M.E.I. I know you are very knowledgeable and passionate about helping less privileged children, especially these unfortunate ones that have found themselves out on this street, exposed to hunger, crime and worst still, their untimely death in the hands of desperate wealth-seekers.

Over the years, I have seen firsthand some of the great things you are doing for society’s men and women in your Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship foundation.

In my view, I think you should benevolently extend some of that good into helping children. True that you—or anybody else reading this, do not owe these children any allegiance or aid. It is unfortunate that one would never know why their parents have forsaken them in this manner.
The individuals they consider their world has let them down. Please, do not let them down.

This is my email address iamvarang007@gmail.com. I'd love to know how I can possibly utilize whatever resources you’ve decided to, in the course of good Justice and natural conscience, help these children with. I’m willing to put them through school, and personally ensure that in a decades’ time, we turn around the lives of these children.

I'd totally understand if you cannot respond to this because of your busy schedule, but I will be glad if you do.

Romance / Re: Help. Being Tormented By A Real Life Troll/bully by Thegracefulness: 11:28am On Feb 13, 2022
Well, usually I just read and continue hiding in the shadows, but from your write-up, I can deduce you’re a child. At most, a prepubescent or teenager, because they’re the ones invested and infested with these issues you’ve mentioned. I’ve decided to advise you, like I would, my younger ones.

Ignore the persons advising you to go physical and beat up this your supposed bully. Let me tell you, a fight can lead to a thousand and one other things, not limited to a murder charge.

I’ve seen where somebody got incarcerated—a fifteen years old girl, because in school, she hit another girl in the chest, not knowing this other girl had previously been suffering from a cardiovascular problem. Then she slumped and died.

From an argument about dirty underwear, straight to jail.

From your write-up, I could also deduce you probably school outside this home country, Nigeria. What with calling your institution ‘college’ and the cafeteria settings and all that in your description.

It’s a good thing you’re not in a Nigerian school, else if you reported this matter to a person of authority in the school, best believe, they’d mock you, call you a coward and shove it down your throat. Maybe even do so in the presence of your classmates (which would totally worsen things).

But good enough, you seem to be in a more organized academic environment, where they recognize that bullying is a real act and a threat to the lives of victims.

Go to a person of authority. As quick as you can. Make sure you do not belittle the psychological effect your bully is inflicting on you. Be persistent and courageous in your report, so that at least, she would either be suspended, taken to detention, or have her guardians invited to take note of what their ward is doing in school.

Whoever said you’re a coward for ignoring her, is simply dumb and a coward themselves. As a man, I inform my “children” never to raise their hands on a woman. No matter the situation. At worst walk away, or at best reprimand her seriously. Occasion the reprimand in a way that there would be others around to bear you witness.

Do not avoid your bully. Except confronting them would cause you any physical harm. There is no shame in walking away. Don’t be the first to engage in a fight. Always, and always be the defense—especially in a fight. I sincerely hope this never results in a fight, but if it does, walk away, and if she is not letting you walk away, if that be your last resort at least, slap her once. Hard and resounding. So that it never escapes her mind, and if she’s seeking revenge, whenever she touches the part of the slap, she’d begin to doubt if revenge would be possible.

Somebody else also mentioned the possibility that she may like you or have a crush on you. Except this person is her twin brother or sister, I wonder how they know this for a fact. I am much convinced that anybody who likes somebody and acts in this manner she’s acting, is more than anything a lunatic. And should be avoided thoroughly.

I beg you, do not encourage whatever nonsense she’s scheming for you. Avoid her. Do not sit close to her. Do not ever lock eye contacts with her. Because then, if her intentions are otherwise, now she would just have easier and more profound reasons to double her torment because she would consider you a fool.

I sincerely hope you reach out to somebody close to you—say your older siblings, or maybe your parents before this becomes something else. They know you better. And I believe they’re in a better position to offer you qualified and quantitative advice. Good luck, child.

Hello everyone,
Please I need your explanation for the above captioned.
I'm currently postgraduate diploma student, i will be graduating this year but I came across a requirement for M.sc for postgraduate diploma. Its state that, the minimum requirement is 3 points cgpa, what's the meaning of the 3 points in a simple sentence?

Thank you

Seeing that you do not know what this requirement is, I’d particularly advise that you, instead, use the money you’re keeping for this M.Sc postgraduate Diploma, and maybe start up a business or something.

It obviously in its most simple term, mean your CGPA must be up to 3.0 and above.

Initially, I thought to not grace you a reply, but I wanted you to know that I am not cowering from your insult.

If your problem is the lengthy read, I would understand because you’re an illiterate, and these set of people fear written words more than anything.

But then, if your problem is that you’re a tenant squatting in a property where you’ve refused to pay rent, and the mention of anything ‘Landlord’ irks you and throw you into a state of katzenjammer, then do well to pay your rent.

You have no idea how your landlord struggled to build the house you’re just living in freely. To you it may be doors and windows, but to that Landlord, it is years and years of sweat and disappointment.

All these ones that think only them have the monopoly of insult.

The truth is: humans generally like to feel helpless and avoid taking responsibility. That’s why they invented their version of god. To seem their fate is not in their hands. Nobody would tell me that this “pastor” does not realise what he is doing is foolish. But don’t be surprised, it’s sacred displays like these that bring members to the church.

There’s one in Port Harcourt that asks members to rub “anointed oil” on their hands, put it inside their underwear and give him to sniff.

Religion is by far the greatest trance in history of humankind. When you fall deep into it, there’s no awakening.

Politics / Re: Gladys, Luka Binniyat's Wife: Why My Husband Was Arrested By Kaduna Government by Thegracefulness: 2:01pm On Jan 02, 2022
Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, tell us. “Where is “Dadiyata?”

Incase you’re not familiar with this name, let me tell you about Dadiyata.

Abubakar Idris Dadiyata, a lecturer and fierce critic of the Nigerian government, was abducted from his home on August 1, 2019, in the Barnawa neighbourhood of Kaduna, in northwestern Nigeria.

Dadiyata taught at Federal University Dutsinma, Katsina State.

One year after his abduction, Dadiyata has not been found.

Dadiyata was forcefully taken by abductors at about 1 a.m. as he arrived at his home, a year ago on August 1, 2019.

Kadija, Dadiyata’s wife mentioned that her husband was “making a phone call, his car was still running,” when he was seized by his abductors. Although Kadija could not hear what “ensued over the phone or who he was talking to,” she recalled that her husband's abductors “had followed him, they even came into the house.” Dadiyata’s wife watched from her room as they drove her husband away.

Sadly, there’s still no information about Dadiyata’s whereabouts. His children keep asking about their missing father.

Rather than finding Dadiyata, Nigerian security agencies are absolving themselves from any form of guilt or blame for his disappearance.

Nigeria’s Department of State Security (DSS) had in January denied having Dadiyata in their custody. The state security agency stated that since Dadiyata “was taken away from his house by some armed men does not suggest that those men were DSS staff.”

Similarly, Aisha Dikko, the attorney general of Kaduna, denied knowing the “whereabouts” or of being involved “whatsoever” in Dadiyata’s abduction.

However, these denials by DSS and Kaduna State Government neither mitigates the agony of Dadiyata’s wife and their two children — nor does it restore his liberty.

The question is, why are government critics disappearing?

Where is Dadiyata? Where is Luka Binniyat?
