RiRiHolmes: Hello,do you mind putting me through how to use transferwise, I tried with my debit card,it didn't go through. I also have a domiciliary account? What about moneygram and western union? Are they good options too? You must be using a debit card denominated in foreign currency (such as a GTB dollar card) for Transferwise to be able to debit your account. Remember naira cards have strict limits and are basically no longer working. To open a Transferwise account, just go to their website (transferwise.com) and follow the very clear instructions there. They will ask for a copy of your passport data page as identification. As at the last time I was aware, sending money out of Nigeria via Western Union is difficult - there's a limit and you had/have to put in a request with the bank which takes a while to fulfil, if approved in the first place. You can inquire to find out the current situation with that, but given the current forex crisis, I would assume that things have gotten more and not less difficult. |

Nenyeoge: Good morning Mimilyrics, please I want to find out if there are means to send money to UK. does transfer wise work? Transferwise certainly works - I've been using it to send out money since last week. You have to have a domiciliary account for that. PayPal is a) tied to your naira debit card and is affected by any limits, and b) expensive in terms of charges (they all are, but it's the most expensive) Be careful with so-called BDCs sending money to your account abroad; you've no idea who they are also sending money to and its better to keep your name and account details out of their transaction list. |

Nattiejt: Greetings gurus.... pls for those of you that know about Airbnb, am trying to book for my family as getting accommodation has prove abortive for now.... pls is it safe to pay before getting der? I'm using Airbnb too and I paid in advance. I've used Airbnb in the past and you can get refunds if there is a problem with the accommodation when you get there and all that. But on the other hand, that was pre-Covid, might be a bit more difficult or slower these days. Secondly, since you're going with your family, its preferable that you dont rent a house online from Nigeria sight unseen. Video viewings can only go so far. Book and pay for at least 3 weeks in your Airbnb so that after the 2 week quarantine, you/your spouse have another week to go around and inspect houses yourself before you rent, get to know the city/town somewhat to have an idea of the area/neighbourhood where you'd like to live, etc. If you prepay for a house you've not seen and eventually dislike, it might not be easy to break the lease, landlords need money these days. I actually paid for one month (28 days) because some Airbnb hosts give a monthly discount if you pay for at least one month. In my case I got just above 1k pounds for the full month, which is roughly in the region of what I would have paid in rent and utilities for a month (approx 750 rent + 250 utilities and assuming no council tax) had I already had a tenancy for a 2/3 bed flat. I'm expecting that the extra 2 weeks should be sufficient for one to get , inspect and make any possible amendments to any property one wants to rent (you might see a property you like or at a good price, and have to buy in some things such as white goods yourself, etc.). Check and see if this will work for you |

Of course I'm planning to transfer the bulk of my money to a bank account, I'm only going to carry about 2k or so, but if I wanted to, the government limit would be decisive. |

Please how much is the maximum amount of pounds I can carry along that I don’t need to declare
Thank you The UK government website says you can bring in up to €10,000 or the equivalent in another currency undeclared, every amount beyond that must be declared. Check gov.uk, most helpful site indeed. |

I haven't even done anything like accommodation, flight or PTA because of this delay. Please those who know here, if the visa comes after that 2nd will it be a problem? You have to do what the lady above said - contact your school ASAP and ask for an extension. |

Bashybabe2020: Thank you boss. Please don’t say I’m asking too many questions it’s hard to fit in years of living in Lagos into 23kg can we ship other stuff to uk when we settle down , which do you recommend extra luggage or ship from Nigeria I've a freight company I use that has charged me 2,500 naira per kg to London. Extra fee incurred for movement beyond there to other cities. I've not had the time to shop around for other quotes, and in any case I've been dealing with this company for a few years now, so I'll use them. I'm using it for food items only; don't have the energy to be carrying half of Nigeria's agricultural products into an airplane. So that's about 5 pounds or 4.50 per kg depending on the exchange rate you want to play with. Use that as a rough guide to calculate which will be cheaper for you in line with your airline's extra baggage rates. In my case, the BA extra baggage allowance comes in slightly cheaper since I'm going beyond London. |

Those that have travelled please assist with cheap flight info... my whole family is almost 2m. Lol. Check Turkish Airlines and Egypt Air, they are the ones that could give a fare in the price range you mentioned. Also check BA for flights at least 10 days away from today, they become cheaper the farther ahead you book and if you can buy as a group it comes a little cheaper as well. |

Akpesman: I have a pounds sterling dormicilary account but I want to convert some of it to Naira. Pls how do I go about it. Can I withdraw in pounds and change same to Naira from aboki? Pls your expert opinion on this. Yes, you can, as long as you're not using GTBank. Apparently the CBN keeps shifting the goalposts with respect to domiciliary accounts, so you'd better do anything you want to do and are still allowed to do quickly. |

What is the best way to change money to pounds? Is the PTA any good?
Would you advise changing to dollars first here in Nigeria and convert to pounds in the Uk or just change from Aboki still?
I'm confused. Please help If you can buy PTA, ask for the sterling equivalent of the US$4,000 allowance. I'm not sure if you can get sterling now, but that's a possiblity. Second, converting USD to pounds in the UK might be unfavourable in terms of exchange rate. If you can, just buy the sterling now from naira and go with it. |

ELff: Please I need to clarify something, while filling my application, I saw where they asked if I had dependant(child, aged parents, etc but no where was husband included, so i filled no). Does this mean hubby would not be allowed to join me? I think you can still remedy that when you get your visa and the time comes for him to apply. That dependant aspect on the form is confusing given the conflicting meanings of the word. Someone posted in this form addressing this, I can't remember whom so you can search for the comment, but it was along the lines of your issue. |

Been seeing your post about declaring your siblings, for someone like me who only have cousins over there that we aren’t even close do I need to list them in my application too?
Secondly, i got an offer of accommodation at my bro in laws place to stay for the duration of my program. However, the so called bro in law is my husband’s cousin while my bro inlaws sister is also based in the Uk do I need to list both of them in my application?
Non of my siblings are abroad, am I to also list them in my application irrespective of there location?? Because this whole sibling listing thing is starting to confuse me o. Pls help me with a detail explanation. I think they also ask for a spouse's siblings. Read the form when filling it, the guidance is clear. |

tossyvickykenny: But what if the main applicant and two dependents have gotten theirs how long how many days do you think the other dependent will come out Plss note all three dependants did biometrics same day 3rd September and yesterday made lt 15 working days only saw ready for collection on tracker no mail though. Any one who has been in such situations should plss give me an idea thanks There's no predicting these things because anything can happen in the processing centre that will cause delays in bringing out visas. In my case, the main applicant got first, then dependants a week later. In another case, dependants' visas were hanging until a paid email was sent and the passports were returned almost immediately thereafter. All in all, the last outstanding visa has been granted if the rest have been and is probably being delayed due to some oversight at the processing centre. Or just do the paid email if you hear nothing today. |

ItzDora: Hello everyone, I’m new here and still trying get find my way around here.
My question is, my agent when filling my application did not mention that I have a sister in the UK while applying for my Tier4 visa. She claimed that when she was filling the form, she saw space for grandparents, children and spouses which I didn’t fit in and that’s why she didn’t click it. I have had two visa refusal in the past to the same UK(visiting visa). My sister is there legally. What is my fate? Will this error be waved off? I’m hoping if they call I will explain, what if they don’t? Your opinion please. Visa "agents" causing trouble for Clients since 1,000 B.C. This is why it is always advised to do these things yourself. It will not be disregarded if discovered. If you have mentioned your sister in previous UK visa applications, and the caseworker notices this, this is misrepresentation and there is a penalty for that. All you can do it hope it isn't noticed. |

Ibddon92: I do not believe this. I believe the explanation is simpler than that. The price goes up just because the travel date is getting closer, not because you viewed it mutiple times. Airlines use dynamic pricing. Multiple views feeds into that. The more you look, the more you are likely to pay. |

Fisayoani: It’s all about emailing them or calling! Was that what your friend did ? I am waiting for my visa decision too Exactly. Like I said, my friend had gone for almost a month with no response, so he sent them an inquiry email, and they told him they would escalate it, and his passport was sent back to VAC the very next day, and he collected it the day after, i.e 2 days after the email enquiry, with a visa dated more than a week prior. So if your 15 working days are past, and they've made a decision on your case, and haven't sent it back, maybe the reminder would help, maybe not. |
