babasolution: Pure Igbo About that. Most Nigerians in Ghana think that are Nigerian, especially the ashawos. Most of them will ignore me regardless of how much money I have in my pocket. Evidently my look is different enough from the local Ashanti look where they circumvent me all together. Are could go to a bar where they are for the whole night and not have one woman come to me. It doesn't matter if I got a fresh cut from The Barber wearing brand new clothes. As soon as they see me they look the other way. I did not understand especially when I was in Accra but I have to be in Kumasi for some time and having Nigerians come up to me and having some ghanaians here ask me if I am Igbo, it finally hit me. When I ask the ashawo why they do not speak to me they told me that they thought I was a Nigerian specifically Igbo. apparently Nigeria men are criminals even with the hookers and Igbo men are nasty and do too much sexually. As a matter of fact, a couple times on occasion, I've had the ashawos come to me and saying or speak to me in Igbo. I rarely tell people here I'm an American so I just say Benin due to cultural and ancestral ties.

Yujin: Being someone who's seen a lot of different African ethnicities, I'll say you definitely look Hausa. However, only minute Hausas suffered the transalantic slave trade hence I'll go for Cameroon specifically the South Western part that shares boundary with the Cross rivers part of Nigeria. Your hairline, nose and somewhat of a round face is common from the axis. You can Google the pix of Tijani Babangida- the former super eagles forward winger to compare your resemblance. You don't have the common Congo or Southern Bantu looks. I'm certain of this. forgive me if I come off as lazy but could clarify the Cross Rivers axis for me , please? What ethnic groups are there? |

Good day everyone. I've been in Ghana since the 27th of February and am currently residing in Kumasi. Regardless of my attire, I have noticed that most people think that I am Nigerian or even rarely from Cameroon. for the very few who do think I am a Ghanaian they think I'm from the Dagomba tribe.
Although obviously we in the diaspora have Nigerian ancestry, as some may know I am a haitian-american. That being said I would like to know directly from Nigerians what ethnic group or region some might presume about me.
Thank you for your time.

Christianity Etc › Re: Atheism And Africa: An Incongruous Mix by TheKongoEmpire(m): 4:00am On Apr 19, 2019 |
The Afrikan is too foolish borderline to be an atheist in subscription but atheist in action. He sins; he kills, molests, preach falsehood, swindles his congregation or ummah, is adulterous. Nigeria is even worse. Its a a dumping ground for religions worldwide. God is perfect but she bleaches her skin and wigs as if she knows more than God. You pray and bury a child. You pray again and bury a sibling while the cattlemen killers kill you for what they perceive is their just duty. Sometimes I feel you deserve all misfortune because the hypocrites lives Better than most. |

People interchange Hausa with Fulani. Fulani girls are absolutely spot on in bed. I mean the educated ones not those ones that sells nunu and wara on their head.
Hausa girls are usually black and ugly andany of them dirty buy Fulani girls are pretty, neat and sweet. I would've sworn I was in the deep South of America when I see this on this forum. Nigerians are something else. I wonder what y'all think of the South Sudan |

btins001: This doesn't make any sense to me!
I'm aware the chief reason most descendants of slaves come to Nigeria or any other African country is purely exploitative. I said most! (this might not be overt).
Yours, however doesnt make much sense. on the one hand you claim you're not interested in the local pay but you stated your move to Nigeria is purely economical! So to set up a Biz then?! What are your qualifications?! you say you're self taught Why do you think that's sufficient, cause some people on here grovel?! Come on, man! You're not interested in "all that pan African bullshit" yet you wanna network and make contacts. To what end?!
Nigerians/Africans wake up! just because a person is of the same color a us doesn't mean they're for us!
This one has yet to properly state his objective. All I can sense for now is something glaringly exploitative! I mean, says he's leaving America for Nigeria for economic reasons! :/
You're not any different from the Caucasians, Arabs, indians , Chinese and co! You shall all bare your crookedness when the time comes! ah yes. It's you again. |

morpheus24: I read his write up more than once.
There is nothing wrong with "anyone" let alone a "black" man coming to Nigeria to explore business opportunities, he will not be the first nor the last.
I gave him what I would consider reasonable advice being someone with good experience concerning the ins and outs of business in the country. Like I said it would be advisable for someone who has never visited the country to come in as a Tourist/Visitor, get a feel for the how the country works then begin to explore business contacts if he did not make any prior arrangements with such. Abuja is a good city to begin from then transition to Lagos which is much faster. He would be able to evaluate the pace of the the cities and see what works.
Comparing New York city to the hustle and bustle of Lagos Nigeria is like apple and oranges, they are no where near each other in any aspect you can imagine. Johannesburg is far more comparable to New York city in terms of pace, Lagos is not. (please take this from someone born and bred in the city of excellence.
Ther are several blogs on YouTube that can give you additional on sight information of the the country and how travelers navigate the cities and where are the best places to make business contacts in Lagos and Abuja
Lastly, Nigeria has its own culture and if one intends to do business there as a "black" American or Caribbean, one most be open minded and learn to adjust "culturally' without feeling like they are relinquishing their identity.
Black-Caribbeans/Americans are not Native Africans but the two groups are far more related culturally than say a Scandinavian to a Nigerian so he should use that to his advantage. As a Haitian American, it's my duty to emphasize the embedded West Afrikan culture (which is a very, very broad term) in the country of Haiti. As far as we are concerned, we are the Vanguard of Afrikan culture in the so-called West. Everyone else fights for 2nd place. |

HajimeSaito: Nobody ever goes to the north for pleasure so I'm guessing this is a business trip. If it is within your power don't go. But if it is unavoidable, here are some tips.
Stay away from crowds as much as possible. Crowds are usually the first sign of Islamic mob violence. Almajiris also operate in as pickpockets in crowds.
Try to make the acquaintance of Southern non-Muslims who have spent some time in the particular neighborhood you plan on staying in.
Don't allow yourself to end up in a situation where you will be financially dependent on any of the natives.
Don't stay in a hotel or guesthouse where most of the staff don't speak English.
Finally, don't stay long and try to avoid ever going back. Damn. Is it that serious? |
