Solomon30: It would be stupid of the NA to relent on their onslaught. Usually, when BH suffers casualties of this magnitude, they target towns and villages to vent their vendetta. Bearing this in mind, the NA still need to record another massive bombardment in succeessions that will result to lost of thousands of BH, that way their emirs, Islamic scholars and families will call them to order, advise and beg them to voluntarily surrender. GEJ, this is the type of action Nigerians anticipated of their president that will make them believe in you as a leader. Wishing the NA God's protection and good hunting, AMEN! The operation is on a going concern basis.. The equipments are new and many. |

chronique: Kudos to the NA. More grease to your elbows. However,I think the DSS should intensify the manhunt for Shekau. I've got a feeling He would soon be caught. They shouldn't limit their search to Adamawa,Maiduguri,Yobe or Gombe alone. They could even pay Sokoto a special visit. Shekau would probably not be hiding in any of those 3 states. He might just be carrying out His madness from a remote location so as to diffuse attention from Him,as the military high command might be focused on looking for a Shekau in the troubled zones. The distance between Borno and those places you mentioned makes it impracticable for discipline and coordination not to talk of secrets to be kept.. He is in Borno, otherwise, some of his trails would have been identified. |

Jjj PassingShot: Great news but we need source please.

If NA had done half of what they do now since many years back, Boko Haram would have been history. The fat security chiefs surely were benefitting from the prolonged war with the terrorists.
Anyway, better late than never. The attack helicopters, t72 tanks and drones are all new acquisition.. It wasn't locked up somewhere by the president all this while so soldiers could die using old riffles against the sect. Virtually all the game changers including those on their way to the country were bought very recently from unusual sources.... And it is not because there was no resources but because the almighty America threw spanner in the works... They won't sell and won't allow others sell to us.... Thank God for alternatives that don't give a danm about America's feelings Anybody who tells you that his ascendancy of the presidency is all that is needed to put out the boko Haram light is either lying or is their principal. |

thev0ice1: agabaI23, i don't argue on emotions. You're jumping on a report that says N150B. I posted Thisday newspaper link that says N75B while rivers state govt release says the project is to cost $318M (N51B @ N160/$ then). http://governor.riversstate.gov.ng/programs/the-rivers-monorail/
Which do you think we should believe? Yours? When you ascertain the true cost, we can talk of fraud. I've already condemned it as waste.
My uncle bought a land and built a 15 bedroom house in our village with money that was just enough for me to buy 2 plots of land in PH. how do you compare the 2? Stop comparing Lagos rail with Kaduna-Abuja rail....They are 2 different projects.
If i wanted to toe your path, i would immediately scream that the FG project was a fraud because it contained no vehicles when the Ethiopian project has 41 vehicles already delivered.
get the facts of the projects, then we can talk of fraud
Edited: I just stumbled on the link below which puts the cost of the Kaduna-Abuja project at $850M @ 2011 costing. That will be N136B (@N160/$)
http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/sunday/index.php/feature/3072-wholl-move-abuja-kaduna-electric-railway-project-from-dreamland-to-reality
Do you see the discrepancy in your figures? you and Mathew briggs only calculated the fund from china ($500M) forgetting there's counterpart funding from Nigeria ($350M) Alright.. 51 divided by 4k equals to 12.75 billion per kilometer... And mind you, some figures must have been hidden from the public |

obailala: You dont expect a 27km long 'bridge' going through a densely populated and built up city to cost the same as a rail track laid on flat dry ground, do you?
Here are sample pictures of different portions of the overhead Lagos light rail. www.nairaland.com/attachments/1801878_lagosrail_jpeg2fc1120624e2bf79441d183203b5eeb2 How much is too much to allocate to 57km bridge not entirely crossing rivers and lakes ... Mind you, the stated Amount is what has been expended not total cost. |

Though I wish we can still raise the money not just to complement what the FG is doing but to also show the military boys serving at the front that we the citizens are solidly behind them So as to boost their morale. The FG is not asking for a billion dollars.. Persay but an approval to to collect all manner of military equipment from Belarus worth that amount... Amenities is scheduled many years into the future. Politics › Re: Nigerian Army's Campaign In The North Eastern Theatre (Photos) by Themandator: 1:25pm On Feb 08, 2015 |
komekn: Siriusblack,
It’s great to see this thread is up and running again.
Don't think this will work, the problem is not money but corruption. You will not get a licence to export weaponry to Nigeria without full government consent, you would have to give the money to the Nigerian authority, and you know what will happen to it, POCKETED.
No quibbles, if I had the supposed capital investment budget of $1billion for our military this war would be over essentially in four weeks, With just 30% of it Boko would be almost inoperable in terms of it's capacity to carry out hit and run raids.
I saw a video on youtube today with Boko posturing and making a mockery of the Nigerian nation and its political leaders, in the background was a newly captured Streit Spartan APC.I do not know what specification we have on these vehicles ? But I have said time and time again it’s not just the vehicle but the weapons station on that makes the difference.
Please nobody in Iraq or similar would steal a French, US, German, etc APC, it would be suicide, worse than a Trojan horse, you have just made yourselves roasted beef. You would be tracked so easily all your communications monitored , bases exposed and at the right time you would be laser guided bombed to meet your fifty virgins.
Are we just buying the bare bones , I am not expecting the full suite of C4ISR systems on our APC’s and IFV’s communications technology is dirt cheap right now. What does it cost to have a tracker system on every single vehicle linked into satellite and mobile gps communications; for goodness sake we have our own satellite.
I’m sorry I find this to be gross incompetence, it costs less that £20 quid to have each vehicle linked in and tracked, it should be part of basic battlefield management and communications.
The minute they took that vehicle we should know all their movements all digital communications monitored , logged identified and by now I would have shekau eating HOT humble pie in chains. Instead I have this sadist posturing on youtube with his new captured apc from the Nigerian army.
I still feel there is massive corruption in procurement hence the quest for Chinese weaponry. I don’t even want to know how that APC was captured it’s too painful. Furthermore those BIG BOGUS Chinese MRAPS are in my limited opinion are not fit for purpose for the purposes of COIN in the NE. There are far better options available to us that will give us expedience and precision in taking out targets with great devastating effect.
It has become painfully apparent, with loss of numerous gallant officers and soldiers that the gap between expected outcomes and actual delivery is enormous. The matter is being politicised while our boys are being killed. I put the blame squarely on the politicians who are essentially clueless. Your statement makes a lot of sense. Certainly these new acquisitions can't be without trackers.. I believe that at the right time, it gathered data, from movement to and fro, will be actioned. |

These two movies are historical fiction but have been criticized for their lack of credibility...... How much more you coming here to base your criticism on "We were Soldiers".... Get a life.
For you all talking and criticizing. I have to just tell you this. Notice the carefree attitude of the Soldiers. You don't need an oracle to tell you they are being un-serious, probably because they know they are being filmed. Acting like that in battle will get you killed quickly.... So please, calm down.... Why is GEJ, a man who ran away from the 2011 debate (because he didn't have expo) suddenly clamoring for a debate?? This fool does not know that his master is really scared of debates and might sincerely not be in support of his public rants. Buhari has equally rejected the channels TV organized debates on the grounds that they too are biased As for the 2011 debate, it was organized by an very new entrant NN24 that equally packed up, afterwards...
