Former Commandant of the Nigeria Defence Academy (NDA), General Paul Tarfa has said that the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, has never been a religious bigot, but a man committed to discipline.

He added that it is foolish for anyone to say that Buhari does not have school certificate.

Tarfa said in Abuja that most Nigerians who joined the army during the Nigerianisation of the Nigerian Army in the 1960s obtained their school certificates after becoming officers.

“I had the same Principal with General Buhari in person of Mr. West,” he said

Tarfa, who has lived a quiet life since he retired from the army, said: “I stand up here to say a few words about General Buhari because I am one of those who know him most.

“We met in 1963 as cadets and we shared one thing- discipline, punctuality and purposefulness.

“Like him, I heard erroneously that I am a fanatical Christian. I don’t know if I am, but I am a Christian to the letter.

“I remember that Buhari used to say that following the tenets of Islam does not make one a fanatic.

“If I read my bible before I sleep, does it make me a fanatical Christian?

“In addition to what has been said, I want to say that in 1984 when he was the head of state, I was posted to the Nigerian Army Ordinance Corps in Lagos from the Command and Staff College in Jaji. The Nigeria Defence Academy was on its way to becoming a degree awarding institution. I was in Lagos for only three months and there was a reshufflement and I was asked to go back to Kaduna.

“I reported to him that I had just come here and so, let me stay here. He said no, in the first place, your posting to the Ordinance Corps is wrong. I want you to go to the Defence Academy because I want our future officers to take after your character. So, I took my wife and family and returned to Kaduna.

[b]“On my first week in the academy, I blew what we called the tattoo. Tattoo means blowing horn at 12 midnight or after to make sure you catch those who are not in their dormitory.

“Before then, Gen. Buhari had heard that our cadets were sleeping in surrounding villages. Some were going to Zaria to come back early in the morning, looking sleepy and not concentrating.

“When we blew the tattoo, everybody had to come out, even if you were sick and you had to be carried to the parade ground. When we counted, there were about 48 cadets absent that night. They were in the villages with prostitutes.

“I was with Prof. Ukpabi, who was then the Academy Provost. I said the number was too much for me to dismiss even though they were supposed to be dismissed.

“Out of the 48 errant cadets, about 32 were from the North, and out of these 32, the majority were from the far North. In other words, they were Muslim cadets.

“I flew to Lagos and met General Buhari and told him, ‘this is what you said we should do, bug look at the number.’

“Even though majority of them were Muslims, he said,’ dismiss them all.’ I told him that the number was too much and that if I did that, our Muslim brothers in Kaduna would kill me. He said, ‘They won’t. If these people become officers, they will not be good for us. There was no such thing as this during our time. We will not have half-baked officers, whether they are Christians or Muslims. If they are not good, it does not matter. So, dismiss them all.’[/b]

“When I came back, Prof, Ukpabi and I decided to dismiss the very bad ones and keep the good ones. That was how we restored discipline in the academy.

“What I am trying to say is this. where is the fanaticism here. He didn’t say because they were Muslims, we should leave them.

“This has been the character of General Buhari. If it is right, it is right.

“I am not trying to praise him, but to bring out the qualities in this man. A vote for General Buhari is a vote for change.
“People are thinking whether it is a do or die. To him, it is Nigeria first and not Buhari first. So, I believe a vote for Buhari is a vote for change; change for good.”

On Buhari’s educational qualification, he said: “Buhari’s principal was my principal. From their school, the principal, Mr. West was sent to our school.

“In those days when Nigeria was Nigerianising its military, many of the officers that you see today did not even have their school certificates until long after.

“When we were invited to go to Kaduna, we were given qualifying examination in English, Mathematics and General Knowledge, even before we took the school certificate exam. Some did not even wait to take their school certificates because vacancies were already waiting for them.

“It was after that qualifying exam that we were recruited into the army. By the time some had their school certificates, they had become officers.

“For example, Gen. Babangida never saw his school certificate until when he was head of state. I got my school certificate long after I became an officer.

“But there was officer cadet qualifying examination. About 240 of us sat for that exam in Kaduna”.

An elder statesman and former Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) retired General Paul C. Tarfa said yesterday that it is insulting for anybody to say the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate retired General Muhammadu Buhari has no school-leaving certificates. He explained that apart from their school certificates, as military cadets in the 1960s, they were made to sit for other examinations before joining.

Reacting to the Military Secretary’s claims that it didn’t have Buhari’s records, General Tarfa said “It is very stupid to say that.

Buhari and I went to the United Kingdom for training. We joined the military at 18, 19 years of age. When someone went through all the trainings abroad and passed through all the military examinations in all cadres and so on, and just one cranky idiot will say you don’t have school certificate. That is absurd.” He explained that “Buhari’s principal was my principal. From their school, their principal Mr. West was sent to our school.”

General Tarfa spoke to Weekly Trust during a meeting of some Christian leaders, under the auspices of Northern Christian Leaders Eagle-Eye Forum with Buhari, held at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.

2. To pass the School Certificate, candidates had to pass examinations in a variety of groups. It was compulsory to pass English Language, but not Maths, in order to gain the Certificate.

. Suspects APC, Buhari’s confidence *Plots to foil any possible subversive plots

The deployment of troops by the military to keep surveillance on the All Progressives Congress, and its leaders, is to prevent the leading opposition party from hatching any plot that may give it undue advantage over the ruling Peoples Democratic Party or any other party in the coming general election.

This was made known by top military sources at the Defence Headquarters, DHQ, and the Army Headquarters, AHQ, in an investigation conducted by our reporter in Abuja.

The disclosure contradicts the claim by the military that its deployment of troops to the residence of APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, was a mere routine.

The sources disclosed that the military had become very suspicious of the unwavering confidence of the APC and its presidential candidate, Maj-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, rtd, to emerge victorious in the forthcoming presidential election rescheduled for March 28.

The party and its leaders, according to the sources, it is believed might be up to some untoward plots.

“It was on that basis that the Nigerian Army was directed to deploy troops to keep surveillance on the opposition APC and its leaders to prevent them from hatching their plots,” said a source.

The sources said that the military became very uncomfortable since the day General Buhari insisted that his certificates were with the military secretary, in an effort to drag the military into politics, when he allegedly knew fully that gamthey had never sighted his said certificates.

“His courage and insistence on this made us in the military to become very skeptical about his ambition and what he is actually up to”, one of the sources said.

It further stated that the military was very uncomfortable with the APC’s mobilisation against the shifting in the elections dates, which was incapable of interfering with handover date, making the military to believe that there was more to it than the desire for a free and fair election and transition on May 29.

This is not the first time that security agencies are suspecting the APC of doing something to subvert the electoral processes.

The Department of State Services, DSS, had accused the party of cloning voter’s cards and subsequently raided its Lagos office, but the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, was swift to absolve the APC by saying that its database was intact and that there was no way the APC could clone the voter’s cards.

Particularly, the source said that the military was very worried about the claims of INEC to have distributed Permanent Voter’s Cards, PVCs, to the fullest in the war torn North East, where they are in charge and could tell the story better about the people and populations there.

It said that military’s suspicions about this was based on the fact that the APC was very confident in the midst of these complaints, including those in Lagos, Ogun states and elsewhere, where PVCs have not been distributed in percentages close to those of the North

New documents exclusively leaked to SaharaReporters authoritatively confirm that Brigadier General A.A. Momoh, the Commander of the 32nd Artillery Brigade, convened a Board of Inquiry (BOI) to investigate Captain Sagir Koli, the conscientious whistleblower who exposed the 2014 plan by which the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rigged the Ekiti gubernatorial contest.

Koli discretely audio-taped a meeting between army officers and politicians on June 20 in Akure in the implementation of the plan, which returned Ayodele Fayose.

General Momoh was the senior army officer who allegedly acted on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff in the rigging plan. At least two of the politicians involved claimed on the tape to have been acting on behalf of President Goodluck Jonathan.

The new documents show that Brig. General Momoh convened the panel, in his words, “to investigate the circumstance that led Capt. SI Koli (N/12074) to abscond from his place of duty on 1 Aug 14 and still remain absent while deployed for security duty during the 2014 Osun State Gubernatorial Election.”

The BOI had six members, led by Col. D. Akama as chairman. General Momoh said it would sit at a date and time “to be determined by the president,” but it was not clear whether that meant President Jonathan, or what president he was referring to.

It has since emerged that Brig. General Momoh, at about the time that he convened the BOI, also authorized the illegal abduction and torture of Capt. Koli’s 15-year old younger brother, Adamu Koli.

In retaliation against his brother, the teenage Adamu was illegally detained, tortured, starved, and chained to a bed in the military hospital at Adekunle Fajuyi’s Cantonment (in Lagos?).

Capt. Koli told SaharaReporters in an exclusive Live interview on SaharaTV last Saturday that Brig. General Momoh’s objective of abducting and torturing the teenage Adamu was to lure him out of hiding. The captain has been in hiding since he first leaked the recordings.

Other key participants in the plan, and at the election-eve meeting in Akure, were: Senator Iyiola Omisore; the Minister for Police Affairs, Jelili Adesiyan; Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, who was at the time the Minister of State for Defence; and a man identified as Honorable Abdulkareem, who claimed to be a member of the National Assembly.

Capt. Koli, as one of the subordinates to Brig. General Momoh, accompanied the General to the meeting, during which the politicians bullied and ordered him around. They bribed him with a huge stash of cash and prospects of promotion if he made the election manipulation successful. Among others, he was to clamp down and arrest members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as well as grant privileges to members of the PDP involved in the rigging plan.

Capt. Koli’s audio recording revealed that Obanikoro was directed to attend the meeting on special assignment by President Jonathan, who wanted to make sure that the Ekiti race ended in a PDP victory. It also revealed, and other statements by Capt. Koli confirmed, that the Ekiti race was to be the blueprint for electoral manipulation in the Osun State gubernatorial contest that was to follow in 2014, and later for the 2015 general elections. It was in the course of that Osun State plan that General Momoh set up the BOI.

All Progressives Congress (APC) members from Okrika in Okrika local Government area, the home of Mrs Patience Jonathan, wife of President Goodluck Jonathan, have raised alarm that they they have been barred from holding any political campaign rally in the area.

They have therefore sent a Save Our Soul (SOS) to President Jonathan to call his wife to order and to tell her to allow them exercise their right to freedom of association and allow APC hold its rallies in Okrika and Ogu/Bolo local Government areas.

Mr Tamuno Williams, former Chairman of Okrika local Government and the Director of Greater Together campaign organization of Dakuku Peterside, the APC governorship candidate revealed the frustrations, victimization and intimidation faced by APC members in Okrika and Ogu/Bolo due to the inability of the police and other security agencies to provide protection for them to hold campaign rallies in the area.

Williams, who is also a lawyer recalled in the early hours of Saturday 11 January 2015, PDP thugs attacked members of APC at the party secretariat and also at the campaign office of Dakuku Peterside. The secretariat is located in Abam Ama, a community that shares boundary with Oba Ama, hometown of Patience Jonathan.

According to the Okrika APC leader, on Saturday January 24, some PDP members attacked the venue of the proposed APC governorship rally. Properties were destroyed cars were burnt and attempts were made to prevent the rally from holding but APC refused to be cowed by their violent actions.

“It is pertinent to note at this point that the security personnel who were sent to secure the venue were unceremoniously pulled out and asked us to stand down with the ubiquitous orders from above. Minutes after the security operatives left, another set of PDP boys swarmed on the venue attacking persons and their homes and burning cars”.

APC said it called off its campaign but on 4 February 2015, the APC Okrika again wrote to the Commissioner of Police, Rivers state requesting security protection for the rally.

According to APC in Okrika, on 9 February after all arrangements have been made the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Dan Bature informed the APC that it needs to change the date to Thursday February 12 to enable the police put in place adequate security measures to enable the party holds its rally in Okrika.

APC alleged that rumours were rife in Okrika that “The wife of the President, Mrs Jonathan had decreed that the APC must not be allowed to hold its rallies in the two Okrika speaking local government areas of Okrika and Ogu/Bolo”.

Williams said to further guarantee that her orders were obeyed Mrs Jonathan arrived Port Harcourt on Wednesday February 12.

Afterwards, CP Bature invited the APC and PDP to the Police Command and while the APC honoured the invitation, PDP members from Okrika were absent as well as CP Bature who was represented by Deputy Commissioners of Police Shaba and Amadi.

According to Williams, the Police Command said it was unable to guarantee security for them to hold rallies at the same time PDP was holding its rally in Obio/Akpor local government area.

Members of APC in Okrika therefore appealed to “President Jonathan to call his wife to order and to direct the security agencies to protect the constitutional rights of every citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Claims that the terror attacks of September 11, 2001 were orchestrated by US intelligence agencies are "complete nonsense," Prime Minister Vladimir Putin told attendees of a youth forum.

"This is complete nonsense, it is impossible," Putin said on Monday, responding to a question posed by an attendee of the Seliger 2011 youth forum.

"To imagine that US intelligence services did it deliberately, with their own hands, is complete nonsense," the prime minister said. “Only people who do not understand the workings of security agencies can say that. It would be impossible to conceal it.”
Putin added that he could not imagine how "any of the current or former US leaders could have such an idea."

As the 10th anniversary of 9/11 approaches, skepticism over the official explanation of the 9/11 attacks appears to be on the rise. 9/11 “truth movements,” made up of diverse individuals from around the world, are demanding an independent investigation into those horrific events that changed the course of history.

The International Center for 9/11 Studies, for example, is sponsoring four days of Citizen Hearings in the city of Toronto, Canada with the goal of examining “the best evidence that has been discovered in the ten years since the 9/11 events occurred.”

A group of academics – including Niels Harritt, Associate Professor at the University of Copenhagen; Steven Jones, Professor Emeritus from Brigham Young University and Kevin Ryan, former Underwriters Laboratories manager – will be among the participants who hope to persuade the public of the need for another 9/11 investigation.

There will certainly be no shortage of protesters on hand as well to condemn the “conspiracy theorists.”

The events of 9/11 were not only the worst foreign attacks ever to happen on American soil. They also triggered a global “War on Terror,” which led to two full-scale wars among other less clearly defined military operations, and provided the impetus for a robust increase in US military spending (which has leveled off at just below $1 trillion per year).

According to the official version of events, the attacks of 9/11, organized by the now-deceased Al-Qaeda terror master, Osama bin Laden, left almost 3,000 people dead after a group of 19 terrorists hijacked four commercial jets.

Ekiti rigging tape is authentic — Police Minister

Contrary to the blatant denial of former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, and the Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, that they were involved in a meeting where strategies for rigging the 2014 Ekiti State governorship election were discussed, the Minister of Police Affairs, Jelili Adesiyan, who was also at the meeting, has admitted that the meeting actually took place.

A recording of the meeting, which also featured other top officials of the government and Aliyu Momoh, a Brigadier General, was leaked last week.
Mr. Adesiyan, however, said the conversation in the leaked tape was an altercation between Mr. Fayose and Mr. Momoh after the former accused the later of being bribed by the then incumbent governor of the state, Kayode Fayemi.

“Fayose accused the General who supervised the Ekiti election of taking bribe from Fayemi and APC, that was two days before the election. They called me because they said the General disarmed policemen and I told him to allow the policemen to do their job,” he told the Sunday Punch newspaper.

“I was there, Fayose was there, Otunba Omisore was there, Senator Obanikoro was there. I am not denying that there was a conversation but it was not what they are saying.

“Nigerians are not dummies. These people are mischievous; somebody recorded the scene but let everybody listen to it. Listen to it yourself and get back to me.”

Mr. Obanikoro had denied that he was part of any meeting to rig the election.

“Whatever they are spreading within the social media, is something that APC made up. There is nowhere in the world you will find me talking about rigging an election anywhere in the country,” he said during an interview on Rhythm FM.

When the leaked audio was played back for him during the programme, Mr. Obanikoro replied that the recording showed someone was complaining about the plan of the APC to rig the election.

“The recording did not say I have manipulated any result from what I have listened to, rather, from what you have played is someone shouting at someone who is co-operating and collaborating with APC and trying to frustrate something.

“What that is, I don’t know, but from what I have heard, somebody shouting out loudly telling the other person that you are working with somebody else other than me, that’s what I could hear,” he said.

On his part, Mr. Fayose said his voice and that of other people in the recording was manipulated using speech software such as Natural Voices.
“Nigerians should be reminded of how the APC people lied in 2007 that they recorded how the governorship election was rigged even in the palace of the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe, but the party could not produce a single photo evidence at the tribunal because their plan to do what is known as Morphing and Synthesis was exposed.

“Nigerians should also be reminded of the existence of a technology called speech software, which is good at reproducing the sounds, inflections and intonations of a human voice. The APC that we all know is a party of crooks, who are capable of doing anything, no matter how criminal to achieve its aim,” a statement by his media aide, Idowu Adelusi, read.

Similarly, the police minister, Mr. Adesiyan, said the recording is another devious move by the All Progressive Congress, APC, to discredit the victory of Mr Fayose after their previous attempts failed.

“In order to set the record straight, we say emphatically that the offensive YouTube (audio) was unfounded and meant to hoodwink the unwary and portray the PDP and its leaders across the South West in a bad light.

“How did Omisore and those mentioned in the YouTube (audio) rig election when all the stakeholders in Ekiti voted for Fayose? Initially, the APC claimed it was stomach infrastructure that won the people’s mandate for Fayose. When that would not fly, they say it was photo-chromic rigging.

“Now, it is army and police who were coordinated to rig for Fayose, what balderdash!”

Nigeria's Postponed Election - A Powder Keg

ON FEBRUARY 7th Nigeria's election commission announced that a poll due on February 14th would be pushed back by six weeks, citing security fears. The election, which will now be held on March 28th, will be the most important contest that Africa's most populous nation, and biggest economy, has held since its return to civilian rule in 1999. Nigeria has been one of the world's fastest-growing economies over the past 15 years. Last year it enjoyed a one-off statistical boost when its GDP was revised upwards to take account of the rapid growth in new sectors, such as mobile phones. It leapfrogged South Africa as the continent's biggest economy. Its population is also growing rapidly and is forecast to surpass that of America in the coming decades.

But Nigeria also has big problems. Until the generals handed over power to civilians 16 years ago, governments were usually changed at the barrel of a gun, rather than through the ballot box. Now the country may well see its first change of government by democratic means. The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), which has run Nigeria since the restoration of democracy, faces the prospect of electoral defeat for the first time. For the moment neither President Goodluck Jonathan, who has been in office since 2010, nor his main opposition candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, fielded by the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), has a clear lead. Each commands about 42% of the vote, according to a recent poll.

Worryingly, however, polling data is showing a low level of public confidence that the elections will be free and fair. That increases the risks of violence should a losing candidate cry foul. In the 2011 elections, which are considered the fairest yet, almost 1,000 people died in election-related violence.

Nigeria is already something of a powder keg. Voting has, in the past, also tended to split somewhat along religious and ethnic lines. The predominantly Muslim north tends to support the opposition. The mainstay of support for Mr Jonathan's PDP has generally been in the more prosperous south. The worry is that, whoever wins, there will be violence in one or other part of the country: a victory by Mr Buhari, a northern Muslim, could re-ignite the insurgency in the Niger delta, the country's main oil-producing region; the re-election of Mr Jonathan, a southern Christian, could aggravate the violence in the poorer north, where Boko Haram, a jihadist group, has killed some 18,000 people in recent years. As many as 2,000 may have been killed in January alone.

Whoever wins the election will have their work cut out. Nigeria's growth has, in recent years, been fuelled by high oil prices. A fall in the price of crude has already led to a sharp depreciation in Nigeria's currency, the naira. Although Nigeria's economy has diversified away from oil in recent years, many economists are beginning to lower their forecasts of its economic growth this year. The country also suffers from dilapidated infrastructure, particularly in power-generation and transmission. Many businesses, from shopping malls to mobile-phone masts, have to install expensive diesel-powered generators to keep the lights on or the phones working. Some economists reckon that this weak power infrastructure is trimming Nigeria's economic growth by at least 3% each year. Fixing this ought to be among the first priorities of a new government.

Cambridge would not keep quiet if something fake is attributed to them. They have seen the Buhari's statement of results flying around and if the content was not what they scored Buhari in 1961, they would have come out to deny it, just as they disclaimed PDP's lies on Hausa language etc.
