I watched the movie I thought it was good, but I really didn't like the idea of portraying Nigeria/Nigerians in the way they did. One of the point of the movie was discrimination against other people/beings, but by trying to make that point they discriminated against us. I wouldn't be surprised if SA asked the gangs to be portrayed as "Nigerian" instead of SA. |
Isn't money a motivational factor in everything? Well, you are right enough said. |
@yawa-ti-de Not everyone squatting on names are trying to make a buck on the domain name. Some people actual squat because of the same reason the poster and you have mentioned, you see a domain a minute the next minute it is taken. I have about 29 domains name that I am not using yet but plan on using soon, when that time come I don't have to start searching or coming up with names. Also, if someone does offer me the right amount for one of my domains, I might let it go ![]() |
@blacksta If he doesn't understand the concept of programming and web design then having someone teach is the best approach. He can later use google to improve that knowledge |
I am not sure what you are trying to upload, but Php is not the programming language to use. You are trying to upload a file from a Client Pc to the Web, use C++ or VB to write an app that will run in the back ground and scan for the file. When the file is detected the app uses FTP to upload the file or if you want you can use the app to launch a PHP page at your URL that will pull the file. |
The whole thing is just a smoke screen to keep Microsoft running in Circles. Microsoft just launched Bing, and it is doing very well, then out of no where Google announces Chrome OS(It is not even ready) basically trying to make Microsoft think google is going after it's bread and butter (the OS Market), when really google is trying to protect it's Search market. |
No enough. |
I use both. If I am building a small site/ or a web app with no need to keeping the data secure I use ASP. And I use Php for my main and bigger sites, I also use it to develop Web App(Online picture resizer and editor). At the end of the day, it depends on the one your are comfortable using. |
150 MB or 150 GB?? If 150 MB, that is nothing. Give more space. |
Google is promising google wave will be the next generation of communication. You can see the demo at http://wave.google.com. What do you think. I personally think they might be right. |
Use Dreamweaver CS3 or CS4. Dreamweaver mx and 8 don't work that well on vista. |
Interesting. Sorry Man it is encryped using PGP. If you don't have the decryption key you are out of luck. Except you know a really good cracker. |
There is a technology I read about that can do what you saying. I don't remember the name of the company, but if you google it you will find it. |
Actually, Seun you can use MS Access on the web, but only to store your data. if you wrote any VBA code for the database you will not be able to use it. You can use it with ASP or ASP.net. If you are going to use MS access on the web I will advice you to encrypt the data and save the database somewhere not easily accessed. |
18-25 ?I guess you like them young. ![]() |
@Seun Curious, What does Nairaland stats show about the browser type been used to view Nairaland? |
Google it, then google it again. After you find the Code, if you need help that is when you post. |
I respect that. I will send you an email |
@yawa-ti-de Hi, I have read a few of your comments on Nairaland and I am interested to see your work. Can you post a link? |
@D1KeleVra Why all caps? Take a chill pill (Maybe take 2 just to be safe). |
The comments just prove Nigerians can't work together. |
Thanks Seun . I meant a Programmer or a web developer |
I am interested to know if anyone has hired by or worked for any Nairalander. If you Hired Someone Can you share your experience? If you worked for someone Can you also share your experience? I have some other questions but I want to see how people respond to this post. Thank you |

I just wanted to through this out there and see what you think about Nigerian programmers developing more portable software for Nigerian. Do you think this can make a difference in the Nigeria software Industry. |
Yes, it can be done. But can this software army do it. |
Funny, Even Google is still trying to beat Microsoft at it own game. If you want his software army thing to work, I think we have to get through some issue. Issues I see. Can we even agree on what to build? What programming language? Who is going to lead? can you devote enough time? Who is going to finance it? how to deploy it? etc, |

@hanen funny, @Poster You just have to make sure you have a web development software that can run on Vista. I had to buy Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 when I bought a vista machine because my old Dreamweaver software that runs ok on my XP machine was not fully functioning on the VISTA machine. I think this is what you are talking about. Don't uninstall Vista just try and get a software that works on it, go to adobe and download a trail version of Dream Weaver CS3. |
@ Poster Very Sorry got very busy, but it looks like others have helped. Just want to comment on storing images. It depends on the kind of site You have, if it is like a social network site I believe it is best to create a folder for each user to store their pictures. A site like charliebiz's can just make use of a folder to store all the pictures since there are no members and also you create a process to rename the pictures to make them like time stamps e.g. myimage.jpg > myimage_20080910_072422.jpg this way the name id unique. |
