With all the different web programming langauges out there that make it easy to program and maintain a website I still see so major sites showing classic ASP. So I thought I will ask Nairaland members what you think about classic ASP now and are you or will you still use it.

I thought some of you nairalanders might like this site .http://www.squarespace.com/. It allows you to build any site in minutes and you don't need to know how to program(Click, Drag and drop).

Have you see craigslist.org. It is just content driving and it is successful. I agree ugly is ugly but if your content is good it doesn't matter.

You are just jealous that a guy like the owner of nairaland can just download a pre-package forum and have a successful site where you have been working on you so called online payment system for the past few years and still no where to launching it. Even if you launch you will ever be as success as this site because I can tell just from your post you have no sense, so go back to your payment system that no one will use. Different Language for different uses.  I understand that you are trying to make a point but you don't go about it calling people dumb. Create something that is successful then let your work speak for it self, until then piss off.

What is wrong with PHP? Sites like Digg.com and even Facebook.com are coded in PHP

Lately, I have  seen a few post about Web apps and I have posted 1 or 2 posts about them.  So, I will like to ask what  web app have you created or improved?

I am currently working on Remote desktop view via the browser using VNC open soucre codes

API. Host the code and create an API. That is want I do, I create my own web apps, host them, create an API so the clients site can use the apps and make them pay a service fee for using them. If they want host the app then you tell them they have to pay for it (Other than the web design). But then again it depends on the agreement you and the client had.

Agree with smartsoft. (Not in does terms. )

If they want something in a short period make them pay more (Much more). when you are 12 hours into the project, just remind yourself the amount of money you are going to make.

I agree web apps are not easy, but that is fun in developing them. Also, I don't want to pay $10 to $20 when I can write my owe, plus I can customise it to do what I want only. I have created my own CMS, Image resizer with an API, Contact form creator etc. This apps I have created makes it easier to deploy a website .

Funny, I am actually working on an app/service like that. It will track users activity, how long they stay on a page, track errors etc. What language do you want to write it in? ASP, ASP.NET, PHP etc

I have been visiting Nairaland for a few months now and one thing I notice are people trying to showoff their website (another forum, another Portfolio site etc). Where are the innovations, where are the web services and the web apps. I believe there are some talent people here, don't you think it is time we get out of the phase "Check my web design" and move to more innovative ideas?

I have to disagree and agree with you olud64. I agree that he need to learn More about Web design, but at the same time there are a lot of website that are not fancy and are gettig millions of user per day. Sometimes it is th content not the design that makes a site. Anyway, Good Job angelchyke on launching your site/blog hopefully you will improve on it has the months go by.
