And that is why another militant group; Niger Delta Avengers sprang up. So much for thinking outside the box!
Who even told you that the FG is negotiating with BH?
SMH Seemingly, you're the only one on NL who doesn't know that FG has been trying to negotiate with BH for the release of the chibok girls. As for the NDA, Buhari's divisive words, body language and actions are enough to burn down any country. Don't you wonder why Nigeria is now divided as never seen before in the annals of her history? You don't seem to be conversant with happenings around you talk more of the history of this country. |

Phace: You really need a reorientation!
Do you think laws are changed like clothes, especially the minuscule number in the constitution?
Or that most laws show the will of the people? You're swimming in an ocean of delusion with such mindset!
Now the worst of it all is your view that laws should be changed to accommodate looters so that they'll return their stolen money. Such ignorance! Like I said the laws in our country are hinged on one ultimate stance: that corruption is a crime and must be punished and that, for all its intent and purpose, is unshifting. My friend go sit your ass down. Is bombing of pipelines not a crime? Why did Yaradua of blessed memory come up with amnesty for militants who agree to surrender their arms? Desperate times call for desperate measures and this is also examplified by the fact that BH terrorists are being negotiated with just to achieve a desperate aim - the return of the kidnapped chibok girls, now does this mean terrorism is condoned or is no longer a crime punishable under our laws? Recession and severe economic hardship (desperate times) call for out of the box thinking like giving looters a window to return all loots (desperate measures). |

amjoseph19: You see there is one thing most people don't get. Nobody is supporting corruption. Corruption is the reason why Africans especially Nigerians are suffering. corruption is deep rooted in our society, we are all corrupt. Yes, we all. To many Nigerians, we think that corruption is only when a politician embezzled public funds. No, favourisim, nepotism, tribalism etc are all part of corruption which we all tends to exhibit in our streets, community, in school, even in church. So, as we are shouting corruption, we should also have a close look in the mirror.
Most of us are faulting buhari/DSS on this not that those judges are our uncles, father nor any relative of our's. We are faulting them because the are bringing in something greater than corruption, something that can halt a nation progress for a very long time. Something than can divide a nation. Buhari is trying to over power rule of law, he is trying to kill democracy. He is trying to take us back to stone age.
Believe me when I tell you that all politicians in nigeria are corrupt (I don't have any evidence to back it up, it is just a personal option). If I see any of them being accused or locked up for corruption, am not amaze. All WE ARE REQUESTING IS FOR DUE PROCESS TO BE FOLLOWED. If we don't totally and uniformly come against this. Tomorrow, you might be arrested for tweeting against buhari. If a judge is corrupt, there's I due process to go about that. If we boycott it today, tomorrow we might also boycott presidential election because some few thinks that Mr "A" is the right person for president.
Those commeding the DSS should always remember this poem. First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out Because I was not a Socialist. Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out Because I was not a Trade Unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out Because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak for me.
Buhari have shown that he belongs to somebody, I don't care if he jail all PDP members, associate. But let him follow due process for fucking sake.
He have been fighting corruption for almost 2 yrs now, not a single soul have been convicted by a competent court. I was even thinking that Dasuki is nailed on with how their media propaganda was going about it. But, only to my greatest surprise that he is still yet innocent. Even ECOWAS court granted him an unconditional release and fined FG.
Buhari trying to fight his so called corruption by overlooking the rule of law is like trying to discipline a child by killing the child. You my nigga deserve a bottle Hennessey VS for this post. Just followed ya... Pls ff right back. |

Two pertinent questions:
In this day and age of media propaganda, why hasn't the DSS released pictures of the said monies which were recovered from the Judges' homes?
Second, when and where did the DSS count these monies allegedly recovered from the home? Or did they raid their homes with counting machines and bank staff who counted the monies immediately after they were confiscated?
Until the DSS can provide irrefutable answers to these questions by the way of pictures and cogent explanation respectively, methinks the joke is still on them. |

Truth in its most blatant form!
We are too divided in this entity and this is as obvious as the Sun on a sunny day.
From the north having its own laws (sharia) to having its own film industry (kannywood), to having its own bank (Jaiz) and even their own political party (former ANPP), it is very clear that the north does not see itself as one with the entity Nigeria.
Only naive and stupid people down south of the same entity scream one Nigeria not knowing that they are being used to achieve the sinister aims of the north (I haven't mentioned any tribe but they know themselves and watch how the stupid ones among them aforementioned come for my head).
This is the unapologetic truth and it has to be said even if it's bitter!

seunmsg: I respect Odia Ofeimun but all what he said in this piece is nonsense and very disappointing. Nigerians voted out Jonathan because of his poor performance in office and nothing else. Linking his electoral loss to crude oil politics is absolute nonsense. How many oil well has Buhari allocated since he became president? Silly talk like this will only continue to divide the country at a time when all parts need to unite and demand for good governance.
And to the issue of restructuring, it is very funny that he tried to suggest that Yoruba's have abandoned the clamour after moving to the federal mainstream with APC. Just last week, Yakassai accused Yoruba's of pushing for restructuring out of jealousy and Ibos quickly supported him. No southern leader rebuked him or even try to correct that silly accusation. In fact, IPOBS gloated over that thread without remorse. Now, Ofeimum is raising the issue again.
Even though I am still unconvinced about how restructuring will make us a better and more united nation, I think southerners must learn to take a position on the matter and stick to it. Restructuring can only be achieved through a united southern voice. Yorubas alone cannot champion the cause. SE and SS must also admit that they want Nigeria restructured and the call is not out of any jealousy. What has the bolded got to do with the foolishness of a particular tribe all in an overzealous bid to push out the best president Nigeria ever had? If after reading this erudite and thoroughly intelligent piece you could say its nonsense then I have every reason to think that you're not so intelligent yourself. Say all whatnot but keep IPOB out of your BS. |

mizlovette: Dear nairalanders, I write this with heavy hearts filled with sadness. In this our economy even as bad as it is I decided to help someone out of d goodness of my Herat but ended up getting scammed. I was at home watching movies quietly on my own, when all of a sudden I heard screams and shouts outside, I decided out of curiosity to check out what's going on, only to discover that a girl had been knocked down by a bike and she was bleeding profusely, d mother a petty trader was crying and rolling on d floor, without wasting time I decided that we should help get her to d nearest hospital, on arrival, d nurses insisted that a deposit of 25 thousand be made as they said she needed blood asap, I couldn't stand by and watch an innocent young girls like be cut short, I quickly decided to help d little I could. I spoke to d nurses to reduce d said deposit and they finnaly agreed to take 15k, I wasn't properly dressed so I had to ask d girls cousin who came to follow me take my ATM and go withdraw d money, she went and did that and we made d deposit. Treatment commenced and when I was sure she was gonna get better I left them forgetting to retrieve my card from her. Fast forward to this morning I got alert on my phone and was dazzled, almost everything I had was gone, I was mad I remembered that I had left my card with d cousin, I quickly ran to d hospital only for her to tell me that d girl slipped into coma and they were asked to make a deposit for her to be placed on life support and she decided to take that from my account. I lost all my savings to that girl and I see it as scam. Why would she do that to me? Was that proper? Am just here crying and thinking of how to cope and survive in this harsh economy now, with no job. Am sooooo heartbroken I don't know if I can ever render help to anyone. Pls forgive my errors as am not in d write frame of mind. Hi dear. What qualifications do you have? Send me a pm asap |

kropotkin2: The toppling of the Saddam and Gaddafi regimes was not as a result of UN intervention but America and her allies, so get your facts straight. Secondly, no UN is going to sanction Nigeria for the sake of one man, not even for your beloved Nnamdi Kanu if eventually he wins at the ECOWAS court. Nation states take action based on their national interests and not on some vague sentimentality in contrast to what you deluded IPOBs would want to believe. I laughed so hard the other day when i watched a video of Nnamdi Kanu dated last year in America when he was asked what he thought about the consequences of taking up arms against the Nigerian state and he answered " we are covered by the UN charter on the right of self determination of indigenous people so they cannot arrest us'. Ahahahahahahahaha....... what a deluded fool I only disputed your statement that External bodies cannot interfere in our affairs. It is very false and you can ask Gbagbo if you like... Does he understand what he's requesting? That the looters be embraced under the facade of an amnesty programme, when the law is clear and immovable as the rock of Mt. Sinai.
Have a rethink!
How is he even sure that the so-called polithieves will return the money. Besides, that medium through which these hoodlums will be caught will also show what asset(s) they stole, so what's the need?
The FG should seize and confiscate whatever asset it is, return them to the coffers and prosecute the thieves. There should be no peace for the wicked!! The bolded is very untrue. The law us subject to the people's will... Now and always... |
