I dont see a reason to attach anything to the email. Your email should be concise and straight to the point; an attachment only makes sense if it is extremely compelling e.g. you published a journal paper in an area the professor might be interested in. If you include an attachment, it might not be opened for security reasons (given that the recipient doesn't know you, it could be construed as a virus or malware). jayooh: Hello happy people, pls what can one attach to his/her letter when requesting a foreign professor as a supervisor for grad school? |

September next year seems far away but it will be here before you know it. Keep your nose to the grindstone and you will soon reach the light at the end of the tunnel. If you need help proofreading your SOP, I'm at your service. I have proofread lots of SOPs in my time. I must be decent at it as one of the friends whose SOPs I helped with got into MIT, and another got into Carnegie Mellon University (both for graduate school). Bao1004: Thanks a lot. Well, I thought I wrote a fairly good SOP but I can't say it's good anymore cause I didn't get in. Hopefully, I would try Again but next year September is far mehn. Sad |

If you had bothered to read back the last few pages, then you would have seen this @richcasey post containing the answer to your question. Please endeavour to at least read Part 8 of this thread. Some people have read several parts, totalling hundreds or thousands of pages. You should at least try to do a small fraction of that. Shebol01: Hello fellow NLers,
What format should a sponsorship letter in form of an affidavit take. Is it just the usual letter format which is stamped in a highcourt and signed by the sponsor or any special format?
What advntage does the usual letter signed accordingly differ from the affidavit form?
Input and responses from our veterans.
Many thanks. PS: would not mind if I could get a good format sample sent to this email addy: whisper2dio@yahoo.co.uk |

@bao1004
As @TheBae said, absolutely do NOT plagiarize your SOP. Make sure you write it all by yourself. It will require a lot of thinking and self-discovery, but it will be well worth it. When I was applying to grad school, I remember it took me one month to get to what I considered a perfect SOP that truly represented me. The experience of writing the SOP shaped both my writing skills and my knowledge of self. Do not hesitate to have someone that knows you well (and/or is a really good writer) read and critique it during the writing process. The quality of the writing and grammar, not just the content, has to be very good as well. |

I'm so sorry to hear that you weren't accepted at any of the schools. Did you write an extremely compelling statement of purpose? This part is critically important, no matter your CGPA. In particular, did you in your SOP express passion for why you want to do an MSc in said school and did you explain how your work experience and other experiences have shaped or will shape your desire to study further? Did you explain, in nuance, what part of economics intrigues you and why? Did you explain what it is about their school and which faculty members' research work piques your interest and why? Did you explain what it is you have done that shows your passion for economics? US/Canadian schools really like passionate people, and you have to let that shine through in your application. These schools would admit a candidate with inferior CGPA if he/she shows significant passion and potential (which makes sense). It is not too unusual for a high CGPA candidate to be declined admission (due to other competitive candidates), though it is a bit unusual to be declined by all four schools. I suggest you apply again. You have a very high chance of admission by several schools should you decide to let your application flow with passion this time. I apologize in advance if my presumption about your SOP is wrong. Also, did you make sure your recommenders wrote very good (but realistic and non-psycophantic) recommendation letters on your behalf? Cheers. E go beta Bao1004: Guys, ... |

Here you go. Click on the above link, and you'll see @richcasey's links that would be helpful. In the first link, you can do a school search for economics programs. Email the Economics department program coordinator of whichever school you might like, and ask them if they accept students with a low 2:1. To be honest, you have a decent shot at getting admitted, but you have to just package yourself well given that you already have a 2:1 Klinsmann2016: I greet you all please I am new here, few question to ask please which grad skul in Canada would likely accept me. I also would consider it an unconfirmed rumor. My best guess is that they have a qualitative (not quantitative) quota, in that they can't give a visa to everyone with a perfect application. But I highly doubt that there is a quantitative quota, that doesn't sound plausible to me. justwise: We will know the truth if nobody gets TRV here till next year then, until then I take this as an unconfirmed rumour |

This is terrible. Why are you promoting academic dishonesty? The implication of this "consulting" firm you advertise is that more Nigerian students would graduate and be incompetent. Why further help ruin Nigeria when you could come up with a better business to help grow Nigeria? Na wa o. Antarch: It is a difficult situation to be in. Even though, on paper, the appropriate thing to do is contact the police and file charges against the aggressor, it might not necessarily be the most prudent thing to do - especially if you really need that job and have no foreseeable or viable alternative(s).
The entire socio-legal system in Nigeria leaves much to be desired, and at the end of the day, one often requires a great deal of savoir faire to avoid or manage many unpleasant situations.

Just realized I didn't quite respond to this. Thanks bro for the advice. We have created an "expenses vs funds" spreadsheet and have written a strong letter of clarification. The sponsor also wired C$40,000 to her school which more than covers her first year expenses -- hopefully this helps. Additionally, my sister is adding her own SOA, with N1.6m I hope this works. No, the person signing the document has to sign it in the presence of a notary. Therefore it is unlikely that a notary would notarize it if it is already signed. If your sponsor can't notarize it, just make sure the letter is very convincing given that the sponsor is in a third country. Omonjoe: thanks bro. Can I notarize the sponsorship letter here in Nigeria? I plan applying online. |
Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by thesoj: 5:00am On Jul 14, 2015 |
Also, your sponsor should explain in the sponsorship letter why he is sponsoring you. Because your sponsor is in a third country, I think it is critical to make sure the sponsor's commitment to funding you is unambiguous (to the VO). If your sponsor is able to deposit tuition for one semester that would be a good demonstration of his commitment to sponsor you -- if you are running out of time you could skip this part and just make sure his financial documents and sponsorship letter are very convincing. My sister is in this same exact situation, so I'm speaking from experience. Omonjoe: Congratulations to those who were just kald for medicals! I don't think hayqinsbFX claims he knows what's in the VOs head. He is just saying that folks should play it safe by labeling documents really well, whether on pdf or on paper. Admittedly, it is easier for most people to label paper than pdf. I happen to agree. darefestus: Simple question: Do you know these VOs or have any idea of the internal workings of the embassy.
How do you know they sit in front f their computers and read one-by-one uploaded documents.
Do you know if there are specific departments for each upload section-In which case there will be more scrutiny and thorough checks?
You are getting more entangled in the web of your own assumptions.
Nothing is set in stone about this visa processing so you won't know for certain what they do or dont. |

Sorry to hear about your situation. I think you should email Accra CIC describing your situation and asking how to remedy it. Don't stop trying until you are able to address the issue. Please don't listen to people who say you should just pray and wait for the embassy to request your sponsor's document. The embassy may not request the document and you don't want to risk denial for such reason. Do email them until you get a favorable response. There has to be a way to fix this. Also, do ask VFS if there's anything they could do. Please keep us posted. arifayank: I THINK I AM IN A MESS AND I NEED A WAY THROUGH, i submitted my online application yesterday without adding letter from sponsor, i forgot because there was no column to upload it. a friend was just telling this morning that they dont consider Nigeria in online application { i doubted that really because it should have been clearly stated). my major frustration is how to upload that letter or probably get it to them for consideration, i have been given receipt for my biometric which i need to do on monday. at these juncture i am really scared of the information and not uploading my letter from sponsor. i have been doing it on my own because i was getting scared of been duped, i hope its not going to boomerang. Yes it says "processed" and "dispatched", which means they are done with the application. She physically submitted it in Accra since she is a permanent resident of another West African country neighboring Ghana (she's a Nigerian citizen though). She's going for an MSc at Carleton University. I am just so curious to know if an approval email is always sent. hayqinsbFX: Really, june10th and it says dispatched already. I have read ~700 pages of this thread and have learned a lot. Thanks so much to so many of the contributors. I plan to become one myself.
Question for the experts on this thread: My sister submitted her study permit paper application (with upfront medicals) to the embassy in Accra on June 13 and VFS online tracking was updated yesterday (June 29) saying "Your processed passport has been dispatched to the Canada Visa Office". She will only be able to go pick up her passport next week so we don't yet know if she got approved.
Since she hasn't received an approval email from CIC, is it likely that her application was delayed? Basically, does the embassy always send an approval email when the application is approved? |
